Selina Kyle     A warmish day brings out traceurs eager to get some exercise in. Free running over a stripped spaceship beats hopping through dark alleys and grungy apartments.
Music pounds softly through Selina's ears the way her heart crashes in her chest. Adrenaline soars hot through the blood flooding into her head. Being upside down on a long metal beam could be a little dizzying. Her legs support her weight as she grabs at a bar sticking out. Once she has it, she might be able to swing forward like a gymnast.
People are mostly dressed in workout clothes or loose fitting ones. She is in leggings and a yoga top reinforced to deal with swinging and jumping. Her hair is pulled back under a knit hat. Wireless headphones might peek out. Her sunglasses are lucky not to fall from her face, but she's not too cool for a sport strap to keep them in place!
Lara Croft     With her hair in a french braid, Lara runs up a wall and lands on a bit of re-reinforced concrete. She runs along that before bounding up on the wall at the end of that section and turning 180 degrees to grab the metal I-beam that's solid and secure, but no longer supporting what it once did. However, now dangling from the I-beam, she finds herself reaching for the same metal bar as another climber. She swings back and pulls herself up to stand up on the I-beam. "Want a hand up?" she asks in her slight and classy Surrey accent. Grabbing a convenient hand-hold, she offers a hand to the other free-runner protruding from the alien section of the parkour madness.
Selina Kyle     Whatever she's listening to cannot be so loud. Selina hears the famous explorer, even if the voice doesn't ring a bell right away. The face might when not haloed by the sun moving behind clouds. She looks up from her inverted position and twists around to get into a better position. "Thanks, if it's no bother." Holding out her hand makes for an easier time of clasping it instead of going straight at the wall.
The alien design of the ship makes for some excellent free-running. Panels abraded by entering the atmosphere give purchase, which Selina needs when she lets loose. Her legs bend and she swings off the pole. Her momentum swings her forward to get the speed needed to go up with Lara's help in a scramble that mocks a vertical incline. All in a day's work.
Lara Croft     Taking Selina's hand, Lara pulls her up, helping to steady the other woman on the I-beam with her. Nobody else had gotten even close to this high. Standing now with the other climber, Lara says, "You're pretty good at this."
Selina Kyle     With Lara's help, Selina gets up onto the beam. Her foot lands flat first and she gives a pretty convincing wobble. Stiffening up her knees helps her stay put. "You're the person standing up here helping out others," she laughs. A bit breathless, she dusts her hands on her thighs.
Lara Croft     Lara smiles. "I've been doing this since I can remember," she says. "Climbing my family's house when I was a child. I'm surprised I never fell." She looks up. "Think we can make it to the top of the alien ship?" she asks.
Selina Kyle     "You've luck on your side then. I don't think many of us get the chance in the city." Selina carefully cranks her shoulders in a loose roll, left and then right. She smiles a little. "Did you not get yelled at for going up there? Your parents were much more forgiving than most."
She squints up to the ship's top. The sunshades glisten. "You've got a deal. Let's live excitingly."
Lara Croft     Lara huffs. "Let's focus on the climb," she says. "Drama is so distracting." She runs to the end of the I-beam like it's just the sidewalk and jumps, plural stories above the next surface below her. She grabs the wall of the space-ship and pulls her feet up to begin climbing. She looks around before calling out, "I don't think we're supposed to be this high up. Be careful!"
Selina Kyle     Selina nods. She gives Lara the headstart, getting the free time to look up at the structure. Searching for handhold and judging how far she can reach, she starts at a loping pace and springs up at the last moment. No signs of anything superhuman will be on display! What she has is accuracy and a strong grip to propel her to grab an exhaust port and then hoist herself up to a curved bit of metal that acts like a ramp to the top. She will be slower to get to the top that way, but more sure-footed, as long as disaster is not lurking in the wings.
"Thanks for the warning. Keep an eye out for birds, then." Or their droppings. The pigeon population hasn't hopefully come too close. The slap of feet and thuds from landing have their own rhythmic music. When she has to scramble to climb straight up, it's a softer, quieter joy of movement. "You think the view is worth it? We might start a trend."
Lara Croft     Lara does more climbing than running, and she moves more like a monkey than a cat. She gets to the top faster, but with a few close calls. She doesn't seem phased by them, however, and when Selina asks, she stands at the tallest point of the ship and looks out, hands on her hips. "I hope nobody gets hurt following us up here," she says. Turning to find Selina in the parkour mess, she grabs a handhold and reaches out for the other woman. "Come on up here with me and see the world from above."
Selina Kyle     Selina has her own challenges. A bent and rusting metal spar threatens to cut her fingers. Her sweating palms slide on smooth metal and she comes close to cutting herself on the lip. Her feet dig in and she makes a few reckless leaps that wouldn't be legal or smart by any standard. But the luck that's with her gets her past a tricky stretch that makes her dangle her feet in mid-air for longer than she'd like. Triumph turns her mouth up in a grin. Good people down there watching and moving like small forms on a leaf put the height in perspective. "Three floors up. That's an achievement." She salutes with her hand shading her eyes. Her beanie has pulled back to show her dark curls plastered to her head. The other hand stays in Lara's until they are both atop the machine. "This is good. I get why they pay big bucks to have apartments in those towers in Midtown."
Lara Croft     Lara smiles. "Definitely," she agrees. She continues to hold Selina's hand even when they're both up there, but only for stability and security. It's like a handshake hold, but the kind movies think looks old-timey, where she's holding Selina's wrist. "Even this broken city looks more hopeful from above." She looks down around them to the ship before looking at her brunette parkour pal. "See you on the ground?" she says. Without warning, Lara lets go of Selina's arm and runs to the edge of a bit of alien metal, jumping over another chasm and landing with a roll below. She doesn't stop, but makes her way with a vaulting hop over some ruined concrete.
