Owner Pose
Candace Hill Its been a long day. After having paid rent with the generous tip from Blue Beetle, Candace did a little Uber Driving and managed to make some food money. So She went to Big Belly Burger and got herself a meal. From there she drove to Central park where she decided to eat. Idly she made her way to the Cherry Hill fountain and decided to sit on a bench. Thats where she decided to get into her big belly burger and took a healthy bite. From there she reached into her hand bag and started doing sketching the fountain.

Quietly she sketches taking a few moments to grab a couple fries out of her food bag. She even has a big drink to sip off of when she needs it. She happily adds to the image, layering the image of a person to it. She had a plan... then the plan changes. She scraps the page and starts again, this time focusing on a much closer scene.

The sun sinks a little lower in the sky as the image begins to come together. A glance at the image would reveal a girl that looks kinda like her looking into the fountain. The reflection looks back with a sadness in her eyes. A simple thought crosses her mind << When will my life begin...>>
J'onn J'onzz J'onn J'onzz is visiting in his police detective guise, still not in uniform but his most well known human form, and looks about and then hears the thought, and as a mentor for half his life, is drawn to the stray thought. He looks at her looking about and nods as he is impressed by her skill, "Very nice. Is that for a class or just your own pleasure?" He is genuinely curious, not at all threatening in this persona.
Candace Hill Candace shakes off her thoughts and looks up. "Oh Hello, Sir." She gives a polite smile to J'onn. Of course she wouldn't know who he is. She's seen pictures of the Martian Manhunter but not J'onn in his more Civilian attire. She smiles, "That is actually just something that was on my heart to draw." She sighs and shakes her head.

"Sorry. I am just kinda trying to figure things out you know? Nice to meet you, My name is Candace." She smiles to him and begins adding to the image. In this case its simple letters. "I will scan this into my computer later and will do it as digital art. I don't really paint and I don't really have the funds to carry a bunch of art supplies with me." She smiles happily.
J'onn J'onzz J'onn J'onzz says, "Art from the heart is the bset for sure. I am always impressed by what the Artist's eye can produce. I'm something of an amature poet myself though not as good as a dedicated one. My name is Jonn, pleased to meet you" he smiles, "And digital or analog, what you make of it is your choice. And the subway can be expensive" he smiles."
Candace Hill Candace smiles and nods, "Yes it can. I actually drive for Uber. Though I may be having a change of Job tomorrow. I'm applying to Kord Industries." She doesn't particularly look super excited. "I know I will likely get the job but I dunno. I just... I feel like if I do this I will wind up living a mundane life and I kinda don't want mundane. I want extraordinary. You know what I mean?" She shakes her head. "There has to be more out there for me." She laughs. "Gods I sound like a Disney Princess or something." She shakes her head and looks around. "Nope. No animals are going to land on my finger and I most definitely ain't gonna sing to them. Poor animal would probably explode from my singing!" She laughs a little and takes a bite of her sandwich. "Sorry. Don't mean to eat in front of you."
J'onn J'onzz J'onn J'onzz says, "A hard life; I know they are not known for paying well. Kord Industries is a fine place." He happens to know the owner and mentions, "I might know someone who knows someone. And I assure you, Kord industries is about the most interesting company you can work for that is not completely bonkers like Freedom Tower." He chuckles at the Disney Princess reference, "You are by a fountain, so water is involved and you are wishing....sometimes the universe truly hears such calls..." he resists FIRMLY the urge to ask a bird to land on her shoulder. "My singing is not that good either...." Martian tones use different notes than traditional human ones. "Eat away," he smiles, "I had a doughnut earlier.""
Candace Hill "You are right. Sometimes wishes come true and sometimes they do so in really bizarre ways. I somehow doubt that someone is going to come up to me and say I'm a Princess of some land far far away. But who knows Maybe some relative of mine is rich and they are going to give away a chunk of their fortune!" She laughs. "That is even less likely to happen to me really. I don't even know who my father. My mom raised me." She finishes writing on the art and it now looks less impressive. "I was just writing color code down so I know what I want each thing to look like." She stands up and stretches. "Honestly I want to make the world a better place. I go to a lot of protests, doing my part to get my voice heard and fight for equal rights for everyone be it mutants, Meta humans, LGBT, Everyone. I just think everyone deserves to be equal you know?"
J'onn J'onzz J'onn J'onzz says, "We live in a world of fanciful and fantastic possibilities. I've read of princesses who didnt know they were one," he chuckles, "and good fortune lies in all kinds of places. And that makes sense about color codes. And wanting to make the world a better place is a noble goal. There are many ways to do that...I side with the protesters even if my job, detective, doesnt always let me side with them in practicality. Equal rights are so basic I admit I dont understand why everyone doesnt get it."
Candace Hill "Some people just think themselves superior to others. Or they think that rights are like pie. If X and Y are given rights, they will have less rights." Candace shakes her head. "Its really kinda sad." She turns a page and starts sketching again. This time she is using the fountain as a backdrop for an image. She draws a person sitting on the edge of the fountain looking up into a night sky. "My mother taught me to make my voice heard. That its the only way to get things done out there. She used to say that the squeaky wheel gets the oil." SHe laughs a little bit. "I've been helping with protests since. Though these days I act more as emergency first aid just in case things go bad. You never know when someone is gonna get rowdy and try to hurt someone else. Or if some more crooked cops are going to start pepper spraying protestors. I always come prepared for the worst."
J'onn J'onzz J'onn J'onzz says, "Those people are stupid. I mean, I try to empathize with everyone, everyone has a story. And it is sad, but there are things that make the world a better place. Thats why wanting to make a difference in the world is the direction you should definitely go. Protests are a good place to start. And using the talents and knowledges you possess is wise. Preparing for the worst is also wise."
Candace Hill Candace smiles and nods. "I don't like when things go bad. I got pepper sprayed once and it was not fun. That level of burn shouldn't be allowed. I mean sure its not lethal but it is torturous." She shakes her head. "Yeah some people just seem to lack the sense that they were given. Its kinda sad. I wish people like that would learn that it is beneficial for everyone to have equal rights. There is just no room for hate out there. Hate breeds more destruction. Heck there was a protest recently that I heard about that things turned really bad all because people hate mutants. Its so sad. I mean its not their fault they were born with abilities. In fact its kinda cool. I know there is a risk of what they will do with those abilities. But honestly, you don't need abilities to be a bad person. Heck people still use firearms to rob banks and stuff." She sighs. "Maybe I should make a trip to the senators office and try to sway their opinions on the topic!" She smiles.
J'onn J'onzz J'onn J'onzz says, "A rising tide lifts all boats is one of my favorite" human "sayings. And it certainly applies. Another one is anger leads to fear which leads to anger but that one is harder to memorize" he smiles. A good Martian Yoda Make Would. "The hatred of mutants is even more irrational than the hatred of aliens. At least with aliens its an unknown but for a species to hate its own young is....isnae. And follow your heart, though be warned some senators are not good people."
Candace Hill Candace smiles hearing the different sayings. She nods. "They are very true. I hope I can be a rising tide some day. Maybe someday I will have the ear of everyone and can make a real difference." She sighs. "You are very right. Its sad. No one should hate the young. No one should hate people for being different. Aliens are a different story. I am not anti-alien in the least. Just like with humans. There are good and bad. We gotta welcome the good but prepare for the bad. You'd almost think that the knowledge that aliens exist would bring humanity together. The world is a lot smaller with that knowledge. We have several aliens who are from so far off. How can we actually look at all of our differences and think they are so big? When in the grand scope, we are really small."
J'onn J'onzz J'onn J'onzz says, "A very mature attitude. Preparation is rarely a bad thing, and if people are good and bad, it strikes me that so would aliens be." He should know...

"But for what its worth, the nations most willing to take them seem more knowledgable and able to take them....thats the thing I think the security council nations fear...but they fear a lot it seems."
Candace Hill "I think its the fear of the unknown that has people on edge about Aliens. The most iconic of the aliens that we know of can lift a sky scrapper, can fly, shoot beams out his eyes, breathes ice, can move faster than a speeding bullet and could probably hear a pin drop in china from here. Sure, Superman is a Paragon of Good but if he's got THAT much power, how much more could be out there?" She laughs. "He's probably listening in right now." She whispers playfully. "But seriously the more power someone has be it good or bad, the more people have to fear." She frowns. "I wish it weren't that way. I mean we have amazing heroes like Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman. They are just the tip of the iceberg too! There are so many that we have a lot less to fear."
J'onn J'onzz J'onn J'onzz says, "He is." He smiles, knowing that its public knowledge, "But he also has to filter it so he doesnt go bonkers, but he hears more than even what people publicly realize. But he is DEFINITELY a paragon of goodness and a good thing too. And you arent wrong...fear is something people have...but the attitude you have, that is the best way to fight it," he smiles, "And there are a lot of good people working them" he smiles."
Candace Hill "The problem people seem to have is the big 'What If...' Like What if Superman turns on us. What if The Justice League decides to take over the world. Who could stop them!?" Its a really big What If... I personally don't think that would happen. I mean if they wanted to do that, they would have done it by now. No. They aren't out there causing grief. They are fighting the good fight against enemies that are down right nuts!" She smiles and shakes her head. "People should be supporting the heroes and denouncing the villains but not all Villains wear masks."
J'onn J'onzz J'onn J'onzz says, "What if I was to tell you I might know a bit more on that subject than you might think....but I'd want your permission to do something you might consider shocking...." he smiles,"And more could stop them than you think ....after all, the nations of the world showed quite a bit of power though admittedly only a few of the league was there....and you are right that, fortunately, there are far more that use their powers for good than darkness."
Candace Hill Candace smiles, "If you are going to turn me into a cat you're the third person this week." She laughs playfully. "I am kidding of course. Go ahead." She then looks at J'onn and nods, "The worlds governments have been learning and adapting to deal with any hostiles that may come at us. That is true. I just hope that we don't ever really need all that firepower. I don't like the idea of firing nukes at people even if they are the most powerful weapons we really have." She shrugs.
J'onn J'onzz J'onn J'onzz chuckles, "I have no such intention." . o O "But I could make you think you were a cat, feel like one or temporarily put your mind into one, but I consider such actions highly unethical without consent. I happen to know Ted personally and would love to put in a good word for you as a character reference. And they're firing all they have and more; the worst they did was stolen..its actually very distrubing."

He sits calmly and waits to see her reaction.
Candace Hill Candace blinks several times in rapid succession. She quickly brings her fingers to her forehead as she suddenly gets a healthy heaping helping of telepathy! She looks at J'onn and smiles. "You're..." She pauses and shifts to thinking. << You're Telepathic! That is so cool! I met the Blue Beetle yesterday. He said that I would have the job at Kord Industries. I mean the older Blue Beetle. Not the younger one with the fancy armor.>> She laughs a little. << A Cat? Really?>> She laughs again. <<I think I am going to pass on that. Not the biggest fish eater!>>
J'onn J'onzz Jonn telepathically chuckles, <<Its the natural method of communication for my species. And I didnt realize he offered you a job sight unseen. So Ted. I am known as Martian Manhunter publicly. If he trust you, I trust you. And yes....I can do...many things telepathically>> he chuckles. <<I dont blame you for passing. Literboxes do not smell good.>>
Candace Hill <<I kinda gave the Blue Beetle an Uber Ride yesterday. He bought out my services for the entire day but only went to get coffee. We had a good philosophical discussion and he offered me a job.>> Candace pauses and then smiles, <<Wait the Martian Manhunter? I've heard of you, You're amazing! And yeah I've had a cat before. Litter pans can be kinda nasty.>> She smiles a little smile. "This is an awesome night!"
J'onn J'onzz <<I do admit, I am a bit suprised he did that based on just a ride, but he has a good instinct on trust. And... I have many powers, but try not to make a big deal about them. I have a cat, but shut off my sense of smell when I clean the box....>> He smiles widely and sits down on the fountain, "I am enjyoing it as well"
Candace Hill <<I don't blame you. If I could shut off my sense of smell I while cleaning a litter box I would too!>> She smiles. <<He is a really nice guy. He was kinda angry when I picked him up but he cooled down while we talked and things just improved. We went to get coffee and we talked about taxes and rich people and how some of them don't pay any taxes. It was a good discussion.>> She smiles happily. "You're right though. Sometimes the universe does hear us with our wishes and such."
J'onn J'onzz J'onn J'onzz says, "What was he so upset about?" He cocks his head in curiosity. "But I know for a fact it does; even if most of the time, like Superman, its not paying attention but you should be just careful enough."
Candace Hill "I dunno. I didn't ask. I figured that if he wanted to talk about it he would bring it up. I was there to drive and I wanted to help make sure he had a good ride. Thankfully I have a newer vehicle that rides really well." She smiles about that. "Oh yeah?" She looks up at the now darkening sky. "Amazing! I wish I could go up there some day. Space just seems like a really cool place ya know?" She comments as she considers it. She finishes off her sandwich before looking at the fountain. "This place is really inspirational."
J'onn J'onzz "Wise beyond your years," he smiles, speaking out loud but subtly making others around them not pay quite as much attention. "It becomes more and more possible every day. The stars are quiet but sing most beautifully. And I am glad it inspires you" he smiles warmly.
Candace Hill Candace smiles. "Thank you. That is very kind of you to say." She looks around at the people walking by. She Stretches and tosses her big belly burger bag in a nearby waste basket. "Don't wanna pollute. Gotta make sure that the planet stays tidy." She smiles. "You are right. I never heard the stars sing before. I just am enamored by their beauty. And the knowledge that we are lucky enough to see them so far away."
J'onn J'onzz J'onn J'onzz smiles, "I enjoy Big Belly Burger as much as anyone. There is a reason they are the most popular chain." He smiles, "And not polluting is good. I lost my own home, and appreciate efforts to keep Earth clean. I can help you hear them if you like...the stars that is.
Candace Hill Candace smiles to J'onn, "Something I was taught as a little girl. Leave everything better than the way you found it. It makes sure everything stays nice for everyone else." She smiles and then cants her head a bit. "Oh Okay! That would be really cool. I would love that." She states in regard to the stars. She looks up. Even through the light pollution of the big city blocks most stars out, she can still see a few. It makes things very nice. "What do I need to do?"
J'onn J'onzz J'onn J'onzz nods and concentrates a moment, sharing his own hearing with her, letting her hear the sonic harmonics of each star in the heavens on the other side of the blue sky. It is, frankly, miraculous. He lets her experience it himself and also extends his sharing of vision so she can see the stars in daylight as he can. "You dont need to do anything." He smiles.
Candace Hill Candace blinks as suddenly she can hear the most beautiful of melodies ringing out throughout the universe. She blinks a few times and can see the many many pinpoints of the Milky Way galaxy in the sky right through the light noise of the city. "Is this how you see and hear?" She asks softly, trying not to draw attention. Her gaze is filled with wonder as she tears up just a little. "The sky wouldn't have been seen like this for hundreds of years here and I can see it like that right now. Its beautiful." She smiles and quickly grabs her sketch pad. She starts sketching what she can see and only wishing she had the musical capacity to repeat what she was hearing.
J'onn J'onzz "Among other things. Martian senses are quite wide. And now I'm the only one who experiences them like this." Exactly like this anyway. He watches her sketch them and smiles,"More motivation to go up and see it for yourself" he smiles, eyes twinkling, enjoying her enjoyment.
Candace Hill "Thank you for this. This means a lot to me!" Candace says as she continues sketching. A few moments later she has a rough sketch of what the night sky looks like. At least to her. At least at this moment. "I am so sorry." She frowns and looks to J'onn with compassion. "I am happy you at least found a home here." Then to ruin a good evening her phone rings. "Oh. I should probably answer that. "She does and the voice on the other end sounds annoyed. "Oh I am so sorry I completely forgot! A lot happened and... I just forgot. I will be there in fifteen minutes." She hangs up. "Thank you again. This was so amazing. I gotta get going. My roommate needed a ride downtown and I completely forgot!"
