Bishop Of late, pressing mattrs on his mind have kept a certain Lucas Bishop rotating in and out of the training facilities, The Danger Room, the shooting range, and forays into New York City after monitoring events here and there which pinged his particular radar and deep sense of justice. While he's by far no stranger to a heavy regime of training and intense activity, the time displaced seucity and law enforcement officer has seemed restless...having to be dragged out from his routine by the others to observe the talent show put on by the Instiute students...and then promptly returning to his routine.

It might have something to do with the crazy incidents at The Starport.

It might have something to do with a small army of human sized Sentinels raining havoc in Mutant Town.

It might have something to do with the Morlock Tunnels being used as a site for a trade between Hydra and another nefarious group. It's probably all of the above and then some but needless to say...he's been over working himself and starting to over do it. So when Doctor McCoy reaches out to him via his comm badge to meet him in his labs, it's subconsciously a welcome distraction. Otherwise he'd probably be pouring over files in the War Room.

When he arrives through the lab doors he pauses by its entrance and looks around for the good doctor. He looks..tired and mildly stressed. Well, more then usual at least. HIs expression is always serious and dour after all.
Henry McCoy Hank was, as was his usual wont, dangling from the ceiling via his feet. His lab coat, prone to suffering from the effects of gravity, dangled off his furred body towards the floor. He had his reading-glasses secured to his face and was perusing something on a handheld tablet. Judging by his scowl, it was probably a recalcitrant data-set not behaving in ways that Dr McCoy, multiple-Ph.D, was expecting them to behave. But when the door to his lab opened he looked away from the table. "Lucas! Be welcome in my lair. What can I do you for?" he asked.
Bishop "My apologies Henry. I thought I received a communication that you wanted to talk. Something about my powers?"

Bishop arcs an eyebrow and then furrows his brow, that tell-tall M tattoo crinkling on his face as he studies the good doctor.

He begins visibly relaxing, however, as if somehow noting Hank's own frustration and it reminding him that he's hardly the only one with troubles on the mind.

"Although, I suppose I could use some ...advice. I was going to talk to Ororo or Scott about this. We have a new resident that's been asking me for ...more intense training with his abilities. He wants to do some good and get out there but with the recent events I have to admit I've been slower on wanting to encourage people to throw themselves into the line of fire. I'm trying to work out if I'm being overly cautious or not..."

He then shakes his head, his dread jostling about behind his thick neck as he folds his arms and walks further in. "But let me not just come in here to drop my troubles on you. How can I assist you?"
Henry McCoy "Ah, so you did receive my missive! Indeed - ethically, I wanted to examine your X-factor expression and compare to a recently-manifested Inhuman for similarities. My patient is an energy absorber and rechanneler, although far less broad-spectrum than a fine upstanding gent like yourself. So if it would be acceptable with you I'd like to use your data in a comparison study, properly secured." he said. "And if you need my opinion on something, I shall endeavor to provide the best possible advice I can give. What vexes you?"
Bishop "An Inhuman? With similar abilities?"

Bishop looks somewhat surprised to hear that and unfolds his arms to let one lean against one of the lab tables.

"First, to answer your question, absolutely. If you feel the need to help this person then I'll help in anyway I can but how did you come into contact with them? The Inhumans aren't my area of expertise but I wasn't aware they were even ...active planet side?"

He shakes his head at the query on his issues. "As to that, as I said, I'm trying to come to a decision on if encouraging a newcomer to become more pro-active with their gifts is for the best or not. His name is Allen-James. Goes by AJ. I think we've inspired him, and I suppose there's no harm in that but...last I knew we weren't exactly set up to be a superhero school as much as an institute to help mutants with their powers, prepare them for the world and educate them. Are we overdue for a proper Jr. X-Men squad or am I overthinking this?"
Henry McCoy "I've met the fellow. Practicing above the pool." Hank said with amusement. "And to answer your query, Dr Pym asked me to consult, as I am better with manifestation biology than he is." he said. "We're colleagues, we collaborate." he said as unnecessary elaboration. "But with regards to AJ, I'd love to get some deeper scans of his emissions, perhaps some blood work to get a peek at his X-factor..." he mused, then idly tossed his handheld tablet expertly onto his desk, landing precisely where he wanted it to go. Then he let go with his feet and flipped his body about so that he would be in the same plane of reference as Bishop, landing gracefully on his splayed feet. "Might be able to get some data that we can feed to the Danger Room to help the lad focus his energies more efficiently."
Bishop "So what you're saying is that I -am- overthinking it."

Bishop laughs a little roughly at himself. "I suppose you're right. It's hard to decide anything if we're still operating on assumptions and blind guessing. I'll mention that to him. I'm sure the idea of blood work won't be appealing but it would let us properly assess where he's at and how to push himself further."

"He glanes at the datapad but doesn't even begin to pretend like he' can understand any of the information displayed there and instead turns his attention back to Hank's particular thoughts.

"So about this inhuman. She can absorb energy.... Ironic but I suppose you came to the right person. What did you observe? Is it any kind of energy? Are there side effects to the process and what happens when she absorbs it? Is it retained? Expelled? Does it dissipate? Is it painful? There's quite a few variables here."
Henry McCoy Hank smiled at Bishop as his animation levels increased when asking his rapid-fire questions. "So far, near as I can tell with inadequate data, my patient's primary vector of absorption is the humble photon. They ... bask, for lack of a better term. And is able to expel such energy enough to hold their own bodymass plus mine aloft, at least for a few moments. There may also be a concussive release as well, but I dislike speculating without any data to base the speculations upon. And, naturally, as an energy-absorber my remote diagnostic tools tend to operate in frequency ranges that their power tends to regard as a tasty snack. A corundum that the two of you share. I also did ask Doctor Pym to pose a request for information from the Inhumans themselves, but given how they are they may or may not accede to that request."
Bishop Being a future cop has its advantages. When Beast begins his animated rapid fire response to his questions in his very 'Beast Like' way, Bishop is actually able to keep up. It helps that the subject matter in question pertains to his unique gifts so the additional personal insight begins to cause his own mind to run a mile a minute as he considers possibliites.

"Based on what you're saying, on the surface, that would make our powers very similar. It's hard to say the particular nuances until you compare our data but I imagine that the difference between our x-gene and what makes the Inhumans tick will create some extreme variance. Our powers incrase in strength as we age, train and use them. Even the type of physical shape we're in. Her powers may be static or may be an issue of training . I'm not limited in the type of energy I can absorb and can even absorb multiple frequencies at the same time but the strain on my body can be intense and even dangerous. If I wasn't as fit as I am, I doubt I'd be able to do some of the stunts we've managed to pull off."
Henry McCoy Hank nodded along as Bishop spoke. "You are, my good man, a walking advertisement for a good diet and strenuous training." he said with a relatively-fangy smile. "And my patient is fairly young and a recent manifestee so a good safe recommendation is diet and exercise." he said. "Which brings me back to AJ - it wass fairly clear to me that his previous circumstances were ... unfortunate." he said, choosing his words carefully and trusting Bishop's cop-instincts to fill in what he wasn't saying. "I would _strongly_ recommend building up his metabolic health before stressing his biology overmuch with powers training. As tempting as we might all feel to help a young mutant come into the full flower of their gift, I'd prefer if they would live long enough to be able to do so." he said with a pointedly-quirked eyebrow worthy of Spock.
Bishop "It'd seem that I have some functioning instinct then, despite all of the things on my mind, because I told him as much." Bishop nods his head. He had indeed inferred quite a bit, listening between the lines Hank spoke and his own dealings with the young mutant had revealed much.

"He's trying to put in the work and I've got him on a meal plan that should help him but I've encourageed him to take it one step at a time. He wanted me to find him someone to help him get his fencing ability back to where it was but he needs to be physically prepared though I'm sure Kurt would be an amazing teacher."

He doesn't exactly -smile- but he seems more at ease. Which for Bishop is about as big of an equivalant of a 'fanged grin' as you're going to get from the too serious future cop when he's got his full persona on display.

"Thank you Henry. I think you've cleared my mind on AJ's circumstance. As to your Inhuman, are you planning on bringing them here?"
Henry McCoy "Doctor Pym is taking care of his patient." he said cautiously. "Felt it was the most prudent decision, as matters between mutantkind and the Inhumans can be a touch _strained_ at times. Best not to antagonize them unduly - the Avengers have had more dealings with them than we have, and on average far more positive." he said. "But Doctor Pym was kind enough to provide what medical data he was able to glean and I think I have enough to do a cross-check, controlling for Terrigenesis vs an X-Factor manifestation and the numerous other variables I won't bore you by going into detail about." he said. "You are gracious enough to allow me to use your data for the cross-comparison and for now that will suffice. Perhaps down the road, if the patient chooses to, we can have you cross-train her in absorption and control. I do not recall you overloading in quite some time, after all." he said, smiling to take a little sting out of the joke.
Bishop "It seems your way ahead of me."

Indeed, that was a trick question on Bishop's part, perhaps. Had Hank brought her here or intended to he might have gotten some 'advice' from the X.S.E. officer on the wisdom of that. But he also clearly has empathy for her situation.

He does grunt a little at the jibe. "It takes a lot to overload me Henry which is fortunante since the amount of energy needed might cause you to have to rebuild your lab. Again. And for once it wouldn't be your fault, hmm?"

He does smile now, amused, before turning. "Let me know if you need anything directly from me or need me to see her.."
Henry McCoy Hank nodded his head to Bishop in acknowledgement of the jibe. "In many ways I am a dedicated scholar in search of as much knowledge as I can possibly take in." he said. "And then I am occasionally fourteen and take great delight in things going boom." he said, miming an explosion with his oversized talon'ed hands. "Fortunately for us all, I mostly have that side of myself under fairly stern control." he said teasingly. "And of course I shall." Hank said, mostly to Bishop's back. "Also, if you want my feedback on AJ, I'd be delighted to contribute what I can. But I believe you have things thoroughly under control."
Bishop "Heh."

It's a rough laugh when discussion of things going boom is made.

"I think doing a study of his X-gene is in the cards. If you don't mind, I'm going to suggest he reach out to you for that so we can get a clearer understandign of his powers. In the meantime I'll continue with what I've already worked out for him until such a time that Scott or Ororo decide to step in."

Bishop pauses at the exit and turns to nod again, "Thank you Henry."

And with that he's gone, the metal doors sliding cleanly shut behind him.
