During last year's trip, a number of students out enjoying the apres ski scene in the local town stumbled upon a recent murder scene - supposedly the work of a local serial killer. After the arrival of some faculty backup, they tracked the man responsible into the woods, discovering that he was under the influence of some kind of supernatural curse, acting like a zombie, or the legendary Wendigo. They destroyed the man, and discovered a spirit residing in a nearby cave... and decided the wisest move was to seal it away before it could affect anyone else. Now, a year later... it seems like it worked? The muders have stopped, and the town is happy and safe. Completely. 100 percent. Right? (OOC: Loose continuation of the prior scene.
