Cast of Characters: Kitty Pryde, Luke Cage

Kitty Pryde has posed:
It's very late. Kitty Pryde had been in Bushwick, checking on various people there after the all clear has been given in regards to Manhattan. She's already helped Colleen Wing move back into her dojo, which thankfully did not suffer any damage from the angels.

Kitty stifles a yawn, covering her mouth with her fist as she rides the subway, heading back to where she can catch a bus back to Westchester. One of the unpleasant things about not living in the city anymore, since she and Warren Worthington broke up. Those rides back to Xavier's School are murder this late at night. "Need to get myself a car," she mumbles.

The subway pulls into a station and stops, the doors opening. Kitty looks up and recognizes the station. "I wonder how Luke is," she mumbles to herself, and then hops to her feet, darting out just as the doors close behind her.

It isn't a long walk from there. Luke's Bar is already closed, the lights out. Kitty heads over to the door just down the street, phasing through it and then heading up the stairs. When she gets to the familiar door, she raps on it, loudly enough if he's awake he'll hear it, but quiet enough if he's asleep it might let him go on dreaming.

Luke Cage has posed:
Luke don't sleep much. Well, not these days. He'd been keeping more of a close eye on his neighborhood with all those weird ass angel things around. Not to mention the crazy interlopers that have been passing through lately. He's been having to throw a few hands recently. But all in all, Harlem's all good.

That earned him a night in.

Which is why he's raising an eyebrow when the knock on the door happens. He almost frowns but gets up from the couch to head over to the door. "Comin'." is said loud enough for whoever on the other side to know and realize that he's up and at 'em. Never know, could be somebody in need.

Cage don't actually ever use his peep hole because he's invulnerable so what does he have to worry about when opening his door. Which he does, still in his jeans and his classic yellow t-shirt. His usual boots are next to the door but he's still rockin' his socks because of course he is.

"Kitty?" Luke almost does a double take when he sees who's standing on his doorstep. But only because of the hour not because of who it is. "Hey, girl." Cage then realizes this could be a bad new visit. "... you good?"

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde's face lights up as Luke Cage opens the door. "Yeah, I'm good," she says, flashing him a grin and stepping forward to give the immense man a hug if he allows her. "Sorry for coming by so late. I was taking the subway home and realized I was just down the street," she tells him. "Wanted to check on you and make sure you and your place made it through all the craziness," she tells him.

Kitty lets him go, stepping back so she can look up at him. He's a full foot taller than Kitty, so it requires tilting her head back a bit. "Everything ok here? The bar looked like it survived ok when I went past, saw the lights were out," she says. "Everyone there make it ok?"

Luke Cage has posed:
Of course Cage is down for the hugs. He even wraps an arm back around her for that moment before realizing that this is all doorway chatter and that he's probably being accidentally rude. Initial shock of seeing her by at this time. "If you don't get in here..." Cage grins a bit and makes sure Kitty crosses the threshold so he can close the door up.

"Uh, yeah. We all good here." Cage is already moving in the direction of the kitchen because refreshments are needed when someone's over at the house. "We ain't really get hit like that. Dunno if that's a good or bad thing. I'm just thankful nobody got hurt that bad." At least that he's heard of or whatever.

Luke slides towards the fridge. "You thirsty? Cuz I ain't got much but uh," The fridge is pulled open. "Orange juice. I got orange juice." This man is very rarely here so the lack of shopping is evident.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde slides her winter jacket off. It was a cold walk from the subway, and her cheeks are a little rosy from the nip in the air outside. Beneath she has a dark green sweater, and her legs are clad in a pair of black tights. There's a necklace just visible around her neck, which in the past had a Star of David hanging from it, though it's out of sight beneath the sweater if there.

Kitty removes the scrunchy holding her ponytail so she can ruffle her fingers through her hair, then replaces it and follows Luke to the kitchen.

"Good, was worried about what might happen here," she tells him. "Sure, orange juice would be great," Kitty tells Luke with a smile. "Glad I didn't wake you. Looked like your light was on but I wasn't entirely sure I remembered which window it was from outside," she says. She turns and walks over to look out the window, seeing if there are any signs of damage that she missed on the walk over.

Luke Cage has posed:
Luke goes for the cabinet so he can grab a glass and that's when he notices something else. Something that he doesn't ever want but he keeps up there. "Uh. Apparently I also have tea. Some herbal stuff Danny left here that I will never drink. So I can also make that happen. If you want." Cage is trying his best here to the hospitality. H has no idea if it's working well or not.

"I try to keep the living room light on so they know I'm around. Or maybe it'll make some people make better choices on this block. Never know."

Cage sets the orange container down on the counter and turns back towards Kitty to hold up the box of tea that he hasn't ever opened. "How's everything in your neck of the woods? Angels-wise, I mean."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde turns back from the window, moving over to stand behind Luke as he checks out the cabinet. "I don't think whiskey goes very well with tea, probably why you never opened it," she teases, reaching up to rest her hand on the large black man's back for a minute and then give him a pat there as she grins at him.

"Don't think I know Danny though," she tells him before answering his question. "Well, the guy I was seeing... ah, I never quite gave details, but he had a penthouse in Manhattan," Kitty tells Luke. She'd told him she was seeing someone, had moved in with him, but not a whole lot more than that. "We split up, right around New Years. Which made it a year, as we got together on New Year's Eve the year before," she says with a rueful expression.

"But anyway, I was move out and staying at the school up north," she says. She's mentioned being a part time guidance counselor at some school up near Salem Center. Though Luke also knows she did IT contracts at JVD Fashion, and at Fisk International.

Luke Cage has posed:
"You are correct. It does not." Cage is all in agreement on this whole tea debacle. It's just not his thing. But it's in his cabinet for guests and not himself.

"Damn." That's the extent of his response about all that relationship trouble. And he sets about pouring the orange juice into a super clean glass because Luke Cage is a top tier dishwasher, that's not even debatable. He's got a whole process to it. It's insane. Anyway. The glass of orange juice is offered up. "His loss." And that's said as if it is a fact. Because Kitty's his friend and that means the penthouse dude's a jerk. It's the code.

"Oh, that school out near Salem Center, right? I remember." Barely. He barely remembers. "So are you commuting all the way from up there into the city for your other gigs or?" Cage pours himself a glass of orange juice as well. "Cuz that's a ride and a half."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty takes the glass that's offered, sipping it and then giving a shrug. "He's a good guy. Still care about him, and him me. Just our lives ended up not quite fitting together right," she says. "Too much time away from each other and... yeah," she says with a sigh and a shrug. "But, thanks, Luke," she says of the compliment.

Kitty moves over to take a seat on the couch. "Well, I let the contract with JVD lapse. Nothing wrong with the place, I liked it a lot. Just... with everything else, I decided to do a change of scenery, you know? So I've just been doing guidance counseling at the school, yeah. Staying in a room there. I'm considering applying at Stark Industries or at Wayne Enterprises. Still making up my mind there," she says. "You been up to anything exciting?"

Luke Cage has posed:
"If I had known you were comin', I woulda' got some ice cream. Then we could sit and trash talk him." Cage is joking, of course. He still brings his own orange juice with him so that he can sit himself down on the couch next to her.

"Stark or Wayne, huh? Going for those big names." Cage sips from his glass. "You'd kill it at either place, I'm sure." Supportive Luke is supportive tonight.

"Ah, not really. Some dude came to the bar the other day and tried to beat up one of my regulars." Luke shrugs as if to say it was no big deal and got handled super easily. That's what he does. He handles things. "That's about it. It's been quiet. Which I'm very thankful for."
