Synopsis: Cheetah runs into Velocity, and they get into a speeding match.
Cast of Characters: Barbara-Ann Minerva, Carin Taylor

Barbara-Ann Minerva has posed:
Greased lightning! Look what the Cheetah dragged in. It was late at night and the Cheetah had just engaged in something rather nasty. A quick smash and grab of a jewelry store having things taken in. Not because she needed the jewels or the money.. But because she could. A simple arrival, a slashing that had left several badly injured, and then a blasting away at high speed. No sonic boom in her wake, just a rush of one that could go extremely fast. Jewels collected in a pouch on her waist, reveling in her power.

Carin Taylor has posed:
Carin, by comparison, is out for an evening run. Less people on the streets, easier to maneuver at full speed, and generally people just mistake her for the Flash anyway. He has her costume on mostly because it's much easier to run in without shredding from the friction like her normal clothes would, her feet digging into the clumps of snow here and there still on the ground as she bounds along.

It's really sheer chance that she runs into Cheetah coming from a parallel path, her eyes widening in surprise. But, well...she's in costume, she certainly looks like a superhero. Even if she would deny it. And wasn't really looking for a fight. Whether Cheetah realizes that is another story.

Barbara-Ann Minerva has posed:
The Cheetah is out for the equivalent of a run. For her, this involves robbery, bloodshed.. And she has little else to do. So when she would see someone that looks to be a superhero, there's a sudden shift in her transit. Cheetah's flashing a grin and going to clearly head on an intercepting trajectory. The part of her primal self that wants to 'play with her food' is kicking in, and it's part of her instincts that she's ever so happy to lean into.

Carin Taylor has posed:
Velocity is not by nature a fighter. As Cheetah suddenly changes course directly for her, her eyes widen and she suddenly changes directory, trying to avoid a collission! Or at least, where she's in a better position to dodge. Not realizing that flight is exactly what will urge on those predator instincts!

Barbara-Ann Minerva has posed:
And Cheetah is going to match Carin move for move. Keeping up with her, keeping herself exactly parallel to her. This is about playing with her food. Not herding Velocity, just making it clear that there's seemingly no escape. Cheetah is seemingly just as fast!

Carin Taylor has posed:
Carin is limited...in the middle of town going full speed would be Bad (tm). Sonic booms do not go over well in downtown, so she tries to stick to evading. And not simply in the street...at one point she goes up a building if she can, hoping that her pursuer can't follow. What is this chick's deal?!?

Barbara-Ann Minerva has posed:
Cheetah can't quite match Velocity going up a building on sheer speed, instead she would just leap up to the edges in an acrobatic sommersault! Landing on one window, jumping up to another, flipping her way around! But it takes her a litlte longer and Velocity has the opportunity to get a small lead!

Carin Taylor has posed:
Now it's a rooftop chase, as Velocity uses her speed and momentum to leap from building to building, trying to hold her lead, while parkouring along and around impediments. Not always the easiest thing for New York rooftops! She's forced to take more detours to avoid lawn chairs or tables or other debris that's been left, glancing back as she does...which is why she misses the bottle as her foot comes down on it, skidding out from under her as she wipes out, rolling along the roof and slamming solidly into an air conditioning unit, leaving a dent behind as she falls to her knees, panting, her eyes a bit dazed.

Barbara-Ann Minerva has posed:
There's a flip up and a land over as Cheetah goes to casually land over on the rooftop. Landing perfectly over on her claws and grinning, looking dangerous with them unsheathed. Still bits of blood dripping from them as she would flash a smile. "Hello there little birdy. I didn't quite get your name. It's not really going to matter anytime soon now.."

Carin Taylor has posed:
Velocity pushes herself to her feet, one hand on the AC unit for stability as she glares at the cat woman. "What's your deal?! Creep!" she snaps, her voice quavering a bit as she settles automatically into a defensive combat stance. At least that was ingrained into her by the brutal training she went through, she doesn't even think about it anymore. If she can't do flight, after all, she's stuck with fight. "Don't you have someone else to bother?"

Barbara-Ann Minerva has posed:
Cheetah would go to advance on Velocity, claws outstretched and making her intents clear as she would be stalking forwards. Intents clear. "Oh, yes I do. But I have a little time until then and I could use the warmup. So you're the appetizer."

Carin Taylor has posed:
A flash of fear crosses Velocity's features, before she raises her hands in a ready stance. "You're nuts." she says firmly, her voice only shaking a bit. "I got no beef with you." Even now she's flicking her eyes around, but with Cheetah's speed there's no easy way off the rooftop without risking her getting a solid shot in. She kinda wishes she had her murder gloves with her, for the first time in a long time....armored gauntlets might be really helpful defending against claws like that.

Barbara-Ann Minerva has posed:
Cheetah would smile, "Thank you." She would smile in the fully psychotic way only one that had fully given themselves over to the horrors could. Claws flashing as she would go in for the charge. "I don't have any with you. But you're such a lovely little bird. I need to tear your wings off. And limbs off."

Carin Taylor has posed:
Scared and young as she may be...it's immediately obvious that someone has trained her to fight, and to do so at super speed. She blurs as she leans and darts out of the way of the slashing claws, an arm occasionally coming up to block a hit as she twists so her back is no longer to the AC, giving her some room to give ground. And, when one slash extends just a bit too far, to try and grab hold of the arm in question and hip throw her attacker to the ground.

Barbara-Ann Minerva has posed:
There's a slash from ana rm aimed over at Velocity which is dodged. Then the momentum from Velocity is used to flip her. Which Cheetah would abort simply by kicking a longer leg down, tail snapping about to anchor her over on the vacuum cleaner to snap her down cleanly, claws supporting her as she's almost acrobatically rebounding and attackinga gain with a grin!

Carin Taylor has posed:
Carin's inexperience shows here...she isn't expecting the suddenly reversal and lets out a gasp of pain as the claws slide through her side, not quite quick enough to avoid them completely as she shoots backwards to desperately try to gain some space, her arms coming back up in defense again.

Barbara-Ann Minerva has posed:
The claws slice through anything they come into contact with cleanly. Through body, through bone, through metal, through concrete. Without so much as a spark as they would rend things apart so rapidly. Altering her attacks with rapid kicks and brutal power. "Poor thing. You're almost not even worth it."

Carin Taylor has posed:
The one benefit is that the claws don't cut quite as deep as they should have, the edges striking the kevlar-inspired armoring under Carin's skin, turning what could have eviscerated her into a bleeding flesh wound along her side. Still, it's the rapid dodge that helped...a direct hit would have torn right through. Her style, at least, seems to favor defensive combat, more akido than karate, favoring redirecting attacks over direct strikes. That and her speed is all that's keeping her intact for the moment, but she's steadily pushed back, unable to break away as she's pushed closer and closer to the edge of the rooftop.

Barbara-Ann Minerva has posed:
Cheetah is intent on slashing velocity right along the rooftop, on the attack. Smiling cheerfully and sadistically on the assault. Moving to engage but also slowing her attacks. Now she's blatantly playing with the girl. Slashing out but in slower arcs, giving Carin room to dodge or defend herself.

Carin Taylor has posed:
Unfortunately for Carin, there aren't a lot of ways off the roof. A roof access of course, but there are no buildings she can easily get to without taking a running leap...and Cheetah isn't allowing that with as hard as she's pushing. There's no way for her to go but through...and suddenly she changes tactics out of desperation, her moves going from defensive to brutally offensive, designed for breaking and snapping limbs rather than restraining them. Commando-style training, though inexpertly delivered in many cases. It's obvious where her focus was in her learning, but she's not terrible either.

Barbara-Ann Minerva has posed:
The change in tactics from the girl who seemed purely terrified and defensive is a sudden turnaround which catches Cheetah by surprise! The heavy attacks would drive her back, on the defensive and withdrawing. Then as one of those fists would go forwards one of Cheetah's hands would snap out.. Catching the hand and stopping it cold. Just playing along and -showing- her superiority.

Carin Taylor has posed:
Velocity parts her lips in a gasp as her fist is caught, then tries to pull it free, backpedalling as she tries to chop at it with her off hand at the wrist in a bid to break the hold. But what little momentum she had going is firmly stopped by the block.

Barbara-Ann Minerva has posed:
There's a sneer from Cheetah.. And then a casual release over and a dismissive wave. "Little kid. No fun killing children. Not worth the effort." As if having suddenly lost interest in it. Her going to walk away. "And I do have plans for the evening and a real game to play."

Carin Taylor has posed:
Velocity pants a bit, stumbling as she's released and watching Cheetah, her chest rising and falling in quick breathes. Unsure if she's really going, or if this is another ploy to play with her. She does glance to the side, quickly measuring distance to the next rooftop.

Barbara-Ann Minerva has posed:
And then Cheetah is going to leap along to the next building, then the next one, then over the side of it and vanishing. She seems to have gone.

Carin Taylor has posed:
Carin blinks in disbelief as the cat woman just....leaves. Her hand goes to her bleeding side as she winces a bit, looking down at the blood running down her side. Shallow cuts, but it still doesn't look great. "...fuck.' she says heartily, before bursting to speed again, this time heading towards Kord Industries. They've probably got a medic on hand, right? And she's going to have to explain this to her current landlord...but at least it's not worse.

And maybe she needs to get back into training, because she can't always count on running away anymore, it seems.
