The Refurbening!

Emiko Queen has posed:
The offer has been accepted, all the details have been worked out, and the main 'built out' for Emi's 'headquarters' in New York has already been done. Now it's the fun part. Picking paints and flooring, furniture... and getting things ready for the 'basement' room. So of course, she invites Bart over to help offer opinions and share in the bounty of delivery from a Greek place down the way. They have a catering menu! Much easier to claim to be hosting a last minute meeting for some college extra-curricular than trying to explain why she puts in such a huge food order for one person.

When Bart arrives, he'll find Emi out front with a grin, "Hey! Had the front door downstairs closed off for... obvious reasons. We have stairs up to the second floor now!" The whole front of the main floor has been redone with stone and the store windows have been replaced with two-way mirrors. Taking his hand, she grins and leads him up the stairs to the new front door and swings the door open with a, "Tada!"

Its still the sublooring and bare drywall, but walls are up to section off the apartment into room, trying to keep as much of an open floorplan as possible. There's two rooms past the small foyer area, one on either side, then opening up into the main social space, a half-wall marking out the space between social and kitchen, with a half-bath tucked between pantry and laundry room. "What do you think?"

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen will smile and kiss her in greeting. He actually has a bonsai tree with him "I was told you should bring someone a house warming gift when they have a new place." He offers it to her. When she shows him, in he does zoom about checking it out and then back at her side "Looks cool"

Emiko Queen has posed:
"Aw, thank you!" Emiko looks pleased at the gift, smiling in delight. Chuckling as he rushes around, she gives a nod, "I wanted to keep it as open as possible, but I also wanted the bedrooms to have a view of the street.. there's a fire escape out back of course, but there's also roof access from the laundry room." She takes him by the hand and leads him into the room that will be hers, setting the bonsai in the window to catch the sun as she turns. "This will be my room, attached bathroom, walk-in closet... and a small 'panic room' that has direct access downstairs. So if the dimensions feel a little off, good eye."

Winking, she pulls him back out into the main social area. "Sooooooo, I thought maybe you'd help me with colors and kitchen and furniture selection?" Emi turns him to face one of the walls and smiles, "Thought I'd put in a nice big entertainment area here. Plenty of room for multiple consoles, a killer sound system... could even hook up a PC to the tv if you wanted and play games off that too." She kisses his cheek and smiles, then moves to the half-wall where there's swatches and colors palettes, samples of fabrics and flooring, potential everything. "And I definitely want to show you the downstairs, too."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen hmms and says "Well a bit of advice, don't just keep painting the rooms till you find what you like, I did that and lost about a foot all the way around the apartment." He admits. He comes over to look at the samples, and says "Are you wanting to go with any basic look like maybe something from japan done up like the restaurant? All old world and such, or maybe something like a pent house apartment?" I mean, what type of place do you want it to feel like?

Emiko Queen has posed:
Chuckling, Emi gives a nod, "I'll remember that." She glances around and smiles at him, "I want to do a modern style, and bring in the old world Japanese in wood accents, artwork, keep the clean lines and open spacing. Instead of a traditional rug, I may do a tatami mat. But I don't want to go so 'traditional' that it makes people here uncomfortable. So a regular dining table with chairs. I'm going to keep the kitchen as opn as possible, do a little breakfast bar here to help delineate the space but make it so there can be open conversation and lines of sight."

She moves back to his side and pulls his arms around her waist while she looks around. "I want this to be a place that people will be happy to be in, but that also speaks to my heritage and asthetic."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods, and says "Well, so you know, I did a bit of reworking at my place. There is a free drawer and some closet space for you if you want it." He holds her, and says "So maybe go with earth tones so the wood looks right amongst it?

Emiko Queen has posed:
"Awwwwwwwwww! Yes! I absolutely want it. I'll bring a few things over next time I'm there. Just stuff that I can have there. And a go-bag. Just in case." She turns a grin up at him, "That mean I can keep a toothbrush there, too?" Emiko chuckles, then looks back to the apartment, "I want hinoki, Japanese Cypress, for the flooring. And then use sugi, Japanese cedar, for accent pieces." Emiko shifts, turning to face him with a smile, her arms going around his neck, "You really made space for me at your apartment?"

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods and says "Well your my girl friend and it is a bit harder for you to run home and change than it is me." He offers her a smile and holds her close. "If your going to be there, I want it to be nice for you and you feel at least somewhat at home there."

Emiko Queen has posed:
Emiko smiles softly at his words, stretching up to kiss him gently, lingering in it for a long moment before murmuring, "I adore you, Bart Allen. And I feel at home wherever you are." Snuggling in against him, she gives him a small hug, then runs her fingers through his hair. "You really are the best boyfriend." He gets another little hug then she's pulling away, but keeping a hand in one of his, Emiko moves back towards the colors and swatches. "I'm thinking of doing this parchment color for the walls, with accents in this dusty sage. Would you do me a favor? Touch each of the fabric swatches and let me know which one feels the best to you."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen 's brow raises a bit but does as she asks. Holding her hand with one hand, he rubs his hand over the fabrics. "I think I like this one." He motions to one of the softer feeling ones. He hmms and says "I think I have an idea for a coffee table, but will have to see how it looks before I tell you?

Emiko Queen has posed:
Giving his fingers a gentle squeeze, she smiles across at him, then starts trying to match stone with her wood choices. When he points out a swatch, she takes it, feeling it between thumb and forefinger. "Oooo, very nice! Okay. This for the sofa and chairs." Setting the swatch aside, Emiko leans in against him, "This is probably pretty boring for you, huh?" Glancing up at him, she smiles softly.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen grins at her, and says "No it is not boring, actually somewhat interesting, your doing a lot more to figure out how you want your place than I did. I kept trying different colors till I found one I liked and then picked furniture off online."

Emiko Queen has posed:
Chuckling, Emiko nods, "I expect to be in this apartment for awhile, so I want it to be exactly what I want." She glances up at him with a faint smile, "And I want you to have a hand in it... and maybe someday in the future... it could be -our- place. If, you know, things work out that way." A touch of a blush hits her cheeks and she quickly looks back to the book of different options for the kitchen. "Do you cook at all?"

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen makes a soso motion "I have done a little but more a nuke it type, that's why I got 2 microwaves at home, I can start one and then another,t o keep things coming out a bit quicker

Laughing at his description of his 'cooking', Emiko shakes her head, "Okay, we DEFINITELY need to fix that. What if I come cook for you?" She glances up at him and smiles, "I'm not really a great cook, but I can do some simple things. And I can follow a recipe." Then she's shifting the book towards him, "I'm looking at the different countertop options for the kitchen. I already have the appliances and stuff picked out, but there's still countertop and backsplash to pick out." She looks up at him with a grin, "Maybe I'll do a red backsplash with a white lightning bolt in tiles..." Chuckling, she glances to the space, "I'm thinking a white quartz countertop. I like the striations in the stone."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen hmms and nods his head a bit smiling some at this. He rubs her back with one hand and says "Well, I am ok with it, but others might think the lightning bolt a bit much. He hmms and says "Is Emiko known for archery or just Red Arrow?" He will ask her in curiousity

Emiko Queen has posed:
Chuckling, she gives a nod, "Probably. I'll just tell them I'm an Impulse fan. Doubt much of anyone would question it." Winking, Emi looks to the book briefly, then back to him with a raised brow, "There's not a lot known about Emiko Queen. She really only started to exist about seven years ago."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen hmms and nods his head a bit and says "Was thinking something like an arrow motif maybe different type of arrowheads through time or something." He offers and says "You should talk to Tim Drake, he collects Super hero stuff.

Emiko Queen has posed:
"Mmmm, might be just a little on the nose. I'm trying hard to keep the two lives separate as much as possible so I can make that secret identity last as long as I can," Emiko smiles up at him, leaning in against his side and resting her head on his shoulder. "But having a nicely framed ancient weapons of Japane might not be bad. Then I could have a bow and arrow up there. Maybe a small display of different arrowheads through the ages underneath."

Emiko glances around the area and murmurs, "I'm also going to be having walkways and high shelves installed." She turns to Bart, "And I would appreciate your help in picking out a cat to adopt."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen hmms and nods his head a bit to this rubbing her side, and says "Like a house cat or something bigger? I am not sure what the laws here are about more exotic animals." He hmms, and says "And what are looking for? I could possibly bring Mr Murder Mittens over to let ya spend sometime with him, and see if you want someone like him. He belongs to Cass, but is sorta a group mascot"

Emiko Queen has posed:
Chuckling softly, Emiko murmurs, "House cat. New York has strict laws against owning any non-domestic felines. I thought about a dog, but I just don't have the time to devote to one." She laughs and shakes her head, "No, I'd like to go to the humane society and see if one of them claims me. And I'll keep the apartment free of other animals so whichever cat I get is secure in the apartment being their territory." She's been doing some research, it seems!

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods a bit tot his and says "Well I am willing to go with you but sounds like you know what your doing well" He smiles and says "I'll keep you in treats and food for him or her that they will like." He hmms "Might want to consider two if you can find two that get along, that way while your not here they have one another."

Emiko Queen has posed:
Emiko grins at him, "I want you there to make sure whatever cat... or cats.. that I get, also get along with you. Since I'm hoping you'll spend a fair amount of time here." She chuckles and gives a nod, "Now that I can easily and gratefully accept." Stretching up, she kisses his cheek and nods, "Good idea. I don't want the cat to be lonely either. And I plan to have some bird feeders on the little balcony outside the front door so they'll have 'cat tv' too."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen chuckles softly and says "Well I would hope I would be spending some time with my girl friend, and her cats. Might have to make sure the guinea don't freak out from them, but we can wash out hands and such."
