We Need To Talk Safety
Date of Scene: 05 March 2022
Location: Jan's Estate
Synopsis: Veira brings homework for Jan and they talk about the proper protection for fighting crime.
Cast of Characters: Veira Lazarescu, Jan de Wit

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
Veira had sent a text before heading over, it was past dinner time and she was leaving pup and dragon at home. That meant that something was probably on her mind. She'd arrived at Jan's with a few books in hand and she was waiting for him to answer the door even if it was a little late. She's dressed in all black tonight, looking like a gothic picture of perfection...if she only had two eyes instead of the one!

Jan de Wit has posed:
One eye was just fine by Jan! He was dressed comfortable, soft cotton pajamas and a lounging robe. He answered the door, having been expecting her after the text. "Come in, Veira." He smiles, kissing her cheek as she stepped in. Books? He looked to her curiously. "Are those the books you got at the market?" The man wonders, motioning her toward the living room. Plenty of seats and comfortable, too!

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
Veira gives a look at his clothing and there's a soft smile, "I feel like you just need a pipe and you'd be all set for an evening in." she admits to that. The kiss is returned, her lips pressing to his cheek. "Thank you darling." she tells him after she steps into the living room.

"These are books from my library. I wanted to talk to you about a few things if you were up for it?" she asks him. "I will preface it with it is not bad talking. I just have some things I want to start working on with you." she comments.

Jan de Wit has posed:
Usually, 'I'd like to talk to you about a few things' is not a great sentance to hear. But she's clarified, so he's not uneasy. "I mean, I like the scent of a good pipe - but I fear smoking would have an adverse affect on my dancing." He grins.

As she mentions the books are from her library, he nods. "All right. I suppose I am up for it, then?" He chuckles. "And what are we working on?" For all he knows, there could be any number of subjects in those books.

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
"I mean...you are smoking but in the 'you're hot' sense." Veira tells him. She's a dork. She knows it. She's not afraid of adoring the man. She does clear her throat a bit as she finds a seat, settling the books on the coffee table.

"I wanted to start your magic lessons off. In the sense that I want to explain a few things and make sure that you know what you are getting into." she admits. "And I also wanted to talk about getting you proper protective gear. Especially since you've got a very public job and life. Bruises and scratches draw lots of attention." she points out.

Jan de Wit has posed:
He certainly is fond of the dorkiness, he enjoys it quite a bit. "Flatterer. Are you trying to seduce me, Miss Lazarescu?" Jan teases her, with a wink. He finds a seat, settling in quite comfortably next to her.

As she mentions magic, he blinks. "Is that... I mean is that something you think I might be able to accomplish? Magic?" He wonders. "We mentioned divination before... but I wasn't certain if it was in the realm of possibility."

A slight grin as she mentions gear. "Well, yes. I don't really have anything set in stone. I often just wrap a scarf around my lower face and such..."

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
Veira gives a look to him, waggling those perfect ebon brows of hers at him, "Trying to seduce you? Yes. Is it working yet?" she gives a chuckle to that. When he settles in close she leans over to kiss his cheek again and then pulls back as she retrieves the books from the table and settles them into her lap.

"Everyone is capable of magic. You just have to train it like you would your dancing or like I have to train my own magics." she explains. "Given you already have a gift I'm sure it's not hard to expand. A lot of Mutants are able to learn magic easier from what I've seen." she smiles to that.

She then gives him a look, "A scarf? My heart we can get you reinforced kevlar and things. Have you been out doing vigilante work?" she asks him.

Jan de Wit has posed:
Jan laughs happily. "Anytime, anywhere." He winks to her, in regards to her seduction. His arm goes around her comfortably as she settles in next to him. "But I suspect focus on this should happen first."

"I think I have heard some rumors of magic using mutants, though I haven't specifically met any specifically." A wry grin. "We're not often public about what we are, after all." There's a bit of thought. "I am sure it is quite a bit of practice. Is there... like an internal aptitude in some people? Or a spark of magic that makes it easier?" He wonders.

At the look, he shrugs. "I have to do the right thing, if I stumble upon problems, Veira. Not quite vigilante work, but..." A smirk.

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
"Mhm, work and then play." Veira tells him with a grin. "Given the anti-mutant groups and other things I don't blame you for not being public. I'd hate to have to murder someone for hurting you." she admits. And knowing her background she /might/ do it.

When he asks about a spark or aptitude she hand wobbles a bit. "There are some magic practices that are passed down in bloodlines and in families. For example, Blood Magic is stronger in those who are born within a line of people using it." she points out. "Then you have normal people able to learn magic spells." she adds. "It is all very hard to pin down." she states.

She squints at him, "I know, I know...but we need to make sure you are protected while you are protecting." she points out in a gentle tone. "I could show you mine sometime if you'd like." she offers.

Jan de Wit has posed:
Jan de Wit says, "Indeed. Too much hate in the world, at the moment. Eventually, I hope we come to terms with the world as is - and all it's wonders." Jan offers, smirking. "Don't get arrested on my account, Veira. That's not what I'd want." He assures.

"I wonder if my family had any affinity." He chuckles, thinking back. "This brings a whole new angle of curiousity to geneological research." The man admits. "How much is there to learn, in total? I mean, blood magic, divination - I shudder to think there might be necromancy."

As she squints, he kisses her nose. "I am open to options for a dashing look that protects me. I am not a fan of bruises and bumps.""

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
Veira gives a look to him, "When I was in middle school I threw the school bully across the playground with my magic. You can imagine the alarms that went off. And that was how I didn't get to attend school in public until College." she muses. "So I know the 'different' aspect, but not the harassed aspect." she tells him. "I'm not going to get arrested. I promise." she tells him.

"We could always do research into your family, see if there might be any magical traces. I...don't actually know where my afinity comes from." she admits. And that bothers her. "As to how much there is to learn...there is many a magical practice and spells. You could study magic all of your life and still not be completely educated in it." she points out.

His comment on Necromancy makes her frown softly, "I mean...I bring back things from the dead. That's technically Necromancy." she admits. "I'd never bring back long dead things...or dead loved ones." she shakes her head.

Then she gives a grin, "Mmmm, so tight fitting reinforced black leather it is!" she teases him.

Jan de Wit has posed:
The man eyes her. "You said you wouldn't get arrested, but you did not say you would not murder..." He half-jokes. "Shameful display of power." He laughs, kissing her neck. "And I am sorry you had to go through that - thankfully my gifts aren't readily apparent unless I exert myself."

"I would be happy to research further. It could explain where the genetic changes come from too, and why they are as they are." A slight shrug. "I think, I feel, that mutations are still something that are often brought about by environmental things as well - but they may have been things that affected your predecessors."

A slight wince. "Yes, but... I think that necromancy in the sense I was speaking of, would be zombies, ghosts and monsters. Sorry... I did not mean to infer..." A sigh. "You were able to save Aster. That is a good thing."

A smirk at the color choice. "Tight fitting? And black?" He smirks. "Should I look into a logo or such?"

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
"Well you just said don't get arrested." Veira points out with a grin. Then she sobers a touch, "I do not enjoy killing when it needs to happen...but it has happened." she admits. "These are things we need to speak on, so don't apologize or feel like you've overstepped, Jan." she tells him.

"I think it's good to know more about family. Mine has just been so damn hard to track down." she muses to that. Then she turns to look at him, her hand reaching out to cup his cheek, "You didn't hurt my feelings." she tells him. "Ghosts actually fall under Ectomancy, but...even controlling them against their will is wrong. Some will work with you without the force." she explains.

Then she leans closer, "I'd suggest one of those ballet silhouettes...but that might be a dead give away." she teases him as she gives him a quick kiss.

Jan de Wit has posed:
A hand moves up to her face, stroking up through her hair. "I would never think you enjoyed it. You are not a monster, or a cold-hearted murderess." A nod. "I understand that you work for an agency which may land you in situations where the finality of death is something you may be faced with causing." Jan murmurs. "Some situations cannot be avoided. I do not believe you would go out of your way to take a life."

"Well, you have me at your beck and call if I can offer any sort of help in tracking down what you need to know." He nods. "Ectomancy?" He blinks. "That... well, that would make sense." A chuckle from the dancer. "I think forcing submission only works in very specific situations. And then, only with permission." He chuckles.

"I think the silhouette would be a bit too on point, yes." A smirk. "Perhaps just a pattern. I don't know."

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
Veira gives a look to him, her burnt amber gaze looking to his, "You're very understanding, Jan. And I appreciate it more than you know." she whispers to him. "Speaking of SHIELD...I would like to speak with my boss about you, if you are alright with that? Not on the Mutant thing. I want them to know that I might be bringing someone into my life and let them get checks and all that stuff over with." she admits.

"I would love help. We got a lead and then the angels happened." she admits. "So I just need to schedule a trip, though we can go after your run of shows." she smiles to him. There's a bit of a eyebrow quirk on his submission comment, "Yes, and a safe word." she grins at him. She then clears her throat a little, "Ahem."

"Are there any patterns or symbols that you are partial to?" she asks him.

Jan de Wit has posed:
A smile and a nod. "I have to accept you, Veira. If I didn't, I'd miss out on so much in my world with you." He says, with a chuckle. "I do try to not judge - I may have a lot of questions, though." Jan winks. As she mentions speaking to her boss, he hrms. "I imagine that it is better done now, than later." The man agrees. "I am fine with that. If I get IRS audited though, I will be frustrated." Another wink to show he's joking.

"I am sure it can be wiggled in, depending on the shows. It's not every week for the upcoming shows. They do tend to give larger breaks for dance performances, if only because the wear on people's joints and muscles." His eyes sparkle with mirth. "Mine is Frankenstein."

"I'd have to think on a symbol, truth be told. It's... something I'd been considering."

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
Veira feels tears well in her eyes for a moment, her heart feeling all fluttery as he speaks and she opens her mouth to say something before she reaches out to cover his hand with hers, "I'm fine with you asking questions." she admits. "Ewww, the IRS, the biggest enemy in the US." she chuckles. "I don't like taxes either. Let's go dump a bunch of tea in the harbor over it." she states.

"We could go for a few days. Probably don't need more than that." she admits. That sparkle in his eyes makes her blush, then she giggles, "I...Frankenstein, alright." she gives a look to him. "I don't have one...just...never needed it I guess." she muses.

"Well, you think on a symbol and we'll work things out. Also...at least read the top book. It helps a lot with opening your mind. Which given your openess already it should be a cakewalk." she admits.

Jan de Wit has posed:
The Dutch man laughs, shaking his head. "Taxes are fine - inappropriate ones are not." He smiles. "And I think tea in the harbor wouldn't really prove the same point as it once did." He hugs her gently. "If I have questions, I will ask. If you have questions, I want to hear them."

"Well, we can arrange the trip as soon as you are certain." Jan decides. "We can get the pups taken care of with a good boarding resort." Resort. For the dogs! "And if you need one, you let me know." He teases her, a finger tracing over the blush on her cheek.

"You will be first to know about the symbol or logo." He chuckles. "I mean, I have given the nomme de plume of Dancer, when questioned before."

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
Veira gives an amused look to that, "I know...and a bloody good waste of tea on top of it." she nods to that. "So how long have you been doing your...helping endeavors?" she asks him curiously. "I have other questions, but...those are for later." she grins.

"And yes, have to make sure that the children are properly taken care of while we're away." she muses to that. "I could use some help on one probably." she winks at him. "I will look into getting flights and things set up." she nods to this.

"Oooh. The first big hurdle of superheroing, the name. You're on your way." she states proudly. "We could fight crime together." she offers.

Jan de Wit has posed:
That earns a moment of thought from the man. "A few years. Nothing ever so... scheduled. It just happens. I tend to be in the wrong place at the right time." A slight grin to that. "Perhaps it's my vision. Perhaps it's something to do with premonitions or divination." He shrugs, uncertain. "But when it happens, I usually have my scarf on hand. Usually it's normal crimes - robberies or such."

"We can board them together, then. I suspect they'll do better that way." A sage nod from the man. "They bring comfort to one another."

"I would be happy to work with you to remove criminals from the streets. Is that something you do on occasion? Or is it more of a SHIELD thing?"

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
"Oh so it's not like you get bored on a Tuesday and go looking for muggers, got it." Veira nods to this. "I mean, your work out schedule probably works out well for keeping on top of things." she admits. "It might be and we can expand on that." she smiles to that.

"Definitely board them together. Maybe someday they can all stay in the same place permanently, but...that's for down the road." she winks at him.

Then she smiles, "I do a lot of it with SHIELD. I also went looking for it for a few years. Sometimes I get called in by the fae." she grins.
