Synopsis: A visit from an old friend where they meet Vanessa. The best archer between them is finally unveiled!
Cast of Characters: Clint Barton, Oliver Queen, Vanessa Carlysle

Clint Barton has posed:
April was a good time for a motorcycle ride down to Starling City. Hopping onto his Yamaha R6 (black and purple of course), gear bag on his back he took the trip out of the city and down to Delaware under blue skies and just enough chill to make him happy to be wearing riding leathers and a helmet.

At the end of the two and a half hour drive, Clint finds himself in front of the Queen mansion. He hadn't been there in a while, but he knew Ollie from a few years past, a SHIELD mission to the city that had him crossing paths with both the billionaire and the Green Arrow, and led to the discovery that the two were one in the same. However, today's visit is far more social and so having texted ahead of time (he wasn't a savage!) Clint walks up to the door and rings the bell, crossing his arms and leaning against the entry while he waits for someone to get the door.

Oliver Queen has posed:
The Queen Mansion stood tall, testing the passage of time as one of the old pillars of Starling City, along with Oliver Queen, it's protector for years now. There was a difference that wasn't present when Clint was here in the past though, and that was the presence of armed guards at the entrance to the gates that precede the gardens. They had been warned though so at the approach they nod and let the man go by and past the gardens to get to the doors.

Oliver had been brooding, as he often tends to do when he has too much in his mind, both about Vanessa, then Roy, and the danger looming upon their heads. So it was with some surprise he received that message. Blast from the past indeed.

He texted, noting he'd be welcome at anytime and so, when the doorbell rings it doesn't take long for Oliver to open the door, dressed down to some jeans and a dark green shirt (because green is the best color), but looking rather casual.

"Been a while, Clint." He offers, extending one hand over to receive the man, a faint smile to his lips.

Clint Barton has posed:
The armed guards were new, and Clint raises a brow at them as he's waved through, and when Ollie answers the door Clint shakes the other man's hand firmly and well. "Hey, Oliver, yeah, too long, likely my fault," he says, he's wearing a purple and black bike jacket (because purple is the best and the colour of royalty) and glances back towards the front gate and the guards. "Please don't tell me you're running for President too?" he jokes about the additional security.

Clint looks about the same as always, wearing the mask of someone without a care in the world, which by now Ollie would know is a mask, despite what people might think, Clint Barton has worries, many of them in fact, and one of them drove him here, beyond just wanting to see an old friend.

Oliver Queen has posed:
The shake is a firm one of course, and while Ollie isn't the type to show much outward emotion even if instead of Clint's more carefree demeanor he hides it in a more stern, professional way of carrying himself there's also some type of tension visible there. Regardless, he seems to welcome his old friend's visit. "Not a chance.." he says with a rumble of a chuckle, "Just some 'trouble' I will make sure to solve soon enough." the way he says 'solve' seems he means there will be much arrowing involved.

But then he is gesturing inside. "Come in." he offers, closing the door behind them when Clint steps in. "I imagine it must be going crazy over at the Avengers mansion and at Stark's tower. I always knew there was a reason I never went public with my own persona." a bit of a tease there on his tone. Yet for all his notoriety Oliver has always been that kind of man that seems to prefer being away from the highlights.

"I was i New York a couple of weeks ago, on hindsight I should had probably tried to visit.."

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint steps inside when invited and closes the door behind him "Good, Tony running for office is enough," Clint grins a brief moment before his golden brows raise about the trouble. "Sure you got it handled, but if you need some backup give me a call. With a quinjet or the 'loop, I can be here in no time. Plus with President Tony and all the rest going on at the mansion, putting arrows into badguys doesn't sound half-bad."

"Definitely has its perks to keep your secret under wraps," Clint agrees. "SHIELD keeps bugging me to preserve what's left of mine, and gotta agree it's nice not being recognized all the time."

"Oh?" Clint asks about Ollie's trip to New York. "Damn right you should have, but what had you down in the city? Business?" Which could mean the suit and tie kind or the bow and arrow kind with these two.

Oliver Queen has posed:
After the Justice League had mostly disbanded, and with Roy at Happy Harbor, along with a few other members of team arrow also having scattered to their own affairs it had been a while since Oliver had received one such offer. Solo had been the name of the game for him for a while now. Well, if we don't count John Diggle. But Diggle is like an extension of Oliver so when the offer comes he mmms, then offers a nod. "I will. Even if only to take you out of the craziness of that mansion." he then daring a faint grin. "Though is the world truly prepared for us two to team up?"

He continues leading on through the house. A nod, "I saw you have a new line of toys coming up with your features." he notes, "I wish you good luck in not being recognized." again that teasing tone, though in truth he seems mostly happy to have a visit here of the past.

"As for the business, both kinds really. They always go hand to hand where it comes to me. Though this time there were ..." a moment as he considers. ".. unexpected developments. There was actually someone I would like you to meet sometime. Though she isn't in right now." his tone does warm considerably though so there might be something more there. "Want to go down to the old cave? I imagine what brought you here today isn't simply visiting an old friend, was it?"

Clint Barton has posed:
Following Oliver through the mansion, looking around as he does, like he doesn't live in a mansion himself almost full time now. "Always did like this place," he remarks of their surroundings before nodding, "Appreciated and the world will manage," he offers that last with a grin. "What sort of trouble do you got?"

"Oh right, the toys," he says. "I've got my costume on so mostly it's just my chin, SHIELD insisted, also it got made ages 9 and up because they didn't want kids choking on the arrows. Not sure what wisdom a child gets at 9 he doesn't have at 8 for sticking toy arrows in their mouth, but I don't make toys."

There's a smile from Clint at the news there's someone to meet, "She?" he asks him with a grin before becoming a bit more serious. "Cave works, wanted to get your advice on something," then the grin returns. "And maybe see which of is the best finally." Every time they've settled in to shoot against each other, /something/ always happens to call one or both away. It's a bit like playing with fire, who knows what disaster might pop up.

Oliver Queen has posed:
"Drug dealers that have been making a push into Starling. I have twarted a few of their operations but they have been very insistent in settling here. And with the means they have shown so far they are quite well-funded, and with backing." Oliver explains while they walk further into the library, past the main rooms and over. He pushes an hidden button behind a shelf which reveals a secret passage. So ominous.

"That chin is recognizable anywhere." he then says amusedly about the toy having the mask on. But he chuckles briefly about the age requirements, lifting his shoulders. Those kind of rules have never made much sense to him either.

They continue further down, to a close door with a keypad. He inserts a code and it gives way to a sprawling underground cave which is the home of team Arrow, the suits in display, weapons, the large servers in the center of the room. It's very empty of people though. He turns on the lights. "I will let her introduce herself when she joins us." As if it seems whoever it is as being aware of who he is, both the Arrow and Oliver.

"And maybe I could use your advice on something too then." His expression also shifting when Clint becomes more serious. He looks at the targets for practice, then back at Clint. "A challenge, very well." he goes over to the various bows in displays, choosing a rather simple one, without all those modern aids. As simple as it can get. "Since I have the home turf advantage I shall let you choose the rules."

Clint Barton has posed:
As Ollie lays out the details of his problem, while simultaneously opening the way down to the cave, a little of the happy-go-lucky Clint goes away replaced by Agent Barton as he takes in the details, "Got a name for these guys? I can peek in the SHIELD databases for intel, don't worry, your name won't come up if anyone asks why I'm digging."

"Yeah?" Clint does ask about the chin though, brushing his fingers over it, and frowning before he breaks into a grin. "Ah well, it's a toy, it's gonna look like pink plastic."

Speaking of toys, Ollie had all the best ones and the Arrow Cave was one big play room of them. "Y'know, as a guy on one of the leading superhero teams on the planet, I shouldn't be jealous, but I gotta admit, I'm sorta jealous," Clint says taking in the cave not for the first time, but each time there was always something new.

He makes a slow circuit of the room while Ollie speaks, "Sure, would love to meet this mystery woman, maybe after I do, I'll tell you about the woman in my life," he teases pausing to look at the various costumes in cases. Particularly Roy's.

"Keep it simple best of three shots?" he asks looking back over his shoulder. "And sure, happy to help with advice, as for what I'm down here for, I sort of ended up with a protoge, another archer kid."

Oliver Queen has posed:
"They are chinese based. Yu Phun is one of their top members, he was arrested a few weeks ago in New York." Oliver's lips pressing together, as if he had something to do with that. "The drug they have been bringing in though. I have fought a few guys that took it. They carried ..., quite the punch. As if it enhanced them somehow. So you see my urgency in getting to the bottom of this." Oliver states, frowning a touch while he relates this.

"You know how it is about billionaire playboys and their caves, don't you? We got to have one to brood in." But he says it in good humor. He looks at Clint when he starts to wander about the room. And indeed there were a few new things, all those trick arrows, a few new shapes, a new gadget or two. No flying bike though! And indeed, Roy's old suit is there. "He came to visit recently." he says of Roy, letting out a sigh. "Sometimes I feel like I failed him but .., he seems to be doing quite well at Happy Harbor."

Though he certainly doesn't let the mention of a woman in Clint's life go by. "You?" he arches a brow. "You have a woman in your life now?" as if he didn't particularly expect Clint to be the settling down type. "Must be someone quite special."

The mention of three shots makes him nod. "Three shots." he agrees.

"A protege. Tell me about them." his tone more solemn.

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint pulls out his SHIELD issued phone and enters the name into its notepad for later investigation, though his eyes raise from the device when Oliver mentions what the drug does. "Wait, it gives them powers?" he asks.

There's a grin over his shoulder about the cave, pausing here and there to check out various gadgets. "Yeah?" he ask about Roy, glancing over at Roy's uniform again. "Visit not go well?"

"Definitely is," he agrees of the woman in his life. "I still don't believe I deserve her, but there's no telling her to get rid of me, so I guess I'm stuck," he says with a grin on his face like that was something he was trying to avoid. "Got to say it's nice having someone to come home too. Didn't think it was for me, but guess that's one more thing I'm wrong about."

As for the three shots, that gets a nod as Clint takes his gear bag off of his back to get ready.

"Good kid, and I do mean kid, she's young, younger than Roy, but good, she's definitely a fan, does the purple thing along with the bows, but anyhow, tracked her down after she got a bit of media attention, been sort of helping her out with tech and training off and on. Just, not sure if I'm doing too little or should I be trying to get her to stop, she's sixteen, I am not sure I want her on my conscience if something happens to her, y'know?"

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Should anyone be monitoring security they'd notice the SUV pulling up outside, and Vanessa, John Diggle, and some of the security getting out. She goes to get a few bags but they take them away from her, resulting in a warm smile and laugh before the group head into the mansion.

Not long after, the dark-haired woman in her twenties descends the stairs to Oliver's base of operations. She pauses at the keypad, looking at it for a moment and getting a wry smile before punching in a code. The door opens and she steps inside. "Oliver, are you around?" she calls out as she makes her way towards the main, large open area.

Oliver Queen has posed:
"Might just be an adrenaline boost to the extreme. It -did- hurt though, and I was wearing armor at the time." A brief grimace when Oliver recalls that but he then lets out a brief sigh. "Though anyway, whatever you can find, let me know. SHIELD has always been the guys with their fingers on every pie." he grinning. Though it's not as if he doesn't have his own too, being a billionaire still has it's perks!

"It actually did, perhaps better than I was expecting. It's just that I am always uncertain whether it was a good decision sending him to Happy Harbor or not. Though he was spiraling down a path that reminded me too much of myself when I came back.." and indeed it had been a dark time those first years back, a very different Arrow from the one here.

He rolls his shoulders, starting to ready himself, testing the string on his bow. Looks like an old one, perhaps even his first bow.

"I am starting to think it may be a good thing too." about having someone to come home too. "I am glad to see you all grown up." and of course the inevitable tease in the end.

"Sixteen and already and doing heroism? Seems like you wouldn't be able to stop her even if you wanted to." then a pause, he knows well how it is about having a loss in their conscience. He nods. "There is no stopping Roy either, all we can do is making sure they are ready. Maybe we should have the two of them meet sometime." he suggests.

There are sounds from inside the room, two people talking, though when Oliver hears the feminine voice he looks over. "We are in here, Vanessa." then a look to Clint. "This is the person I'd like you to meet."

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint frowns, "Wait, you tried this stuff?" he asks him, surprise and curiosity plain on his face. "And sure, I'll get some folks to do a bit of quiet digging and see what we can find out. Don't suppose you've got a sample do you?" he asks about the drug.

As for Roy, "That's the boarding school, right? In Long Island?" he asks of Happy Harbour. Clint nods, "Hope the school sorts that out, it's a dark path to walk, as you know." Clint had done his own share of killing at SHIELD's request, and justified or not it still stuck with him, like a stain on his soul.

Clint pulls his bow from the gear bag, one of his folding kind as he demonstrates as he extends it to full length then checks it over. He didn't want a little bit of wear and tear to throw the results of the contest.

"Yeah, that's what I was thinking too, even if I say no she'll just do it without me," he says. "Any advice though, what to do, what to say? I'm really out of my depth here."

There's a nod for the idea of Roy and Kate meeting, "That might be a good idea, sort of info share, have someone their own age in the game to call on," he says giving it some thought.

The voice calling out for Oliver is met with a grin, and when Ollie calls her by name, turns to look for her as she enters the cave.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa makes her way over, having heard the 'we' but not knowing who else knows about this place besides John Diggle. So when she turns the corner and finds Oliver there with Clint, the latter gets a second's perusal. And unlike some of the others she's run into, Vanessa actually does recognize this New York based hero. "You're Hawkeye aren't you? From the Avengers?" Vanessa asks him, and then turning to look towards Oliver for confirmation. The fact both are holding bows also helps make the connection.

And she looks at those bows. "So you two work out together? I'd never have even guessed that," she says with a soft grin, looking to Oliver, and letting him make the introductions, as she isn't really sure what is ok to say, and to whom, at this point. She does glance over Hawkeye's bow with interest, finding herself evaluating it with a critical eye that she knows didn't come from herself.

Oliver Queen has posed:
"No, I was on the other side of getting punched." Oliver explains with a gesture of his hand. "It did send me down, and hurt like hell for a few days." but then he shakes his head about a sample. "Didn't get any, unfortunately." he paces back, closer to the other archer, nodding at the mention of the boarding school, "Yes, but it's also one he will have to figure out too. The more I tried to tell him what to do the more he got away. But you know how I can be sometimes." Mr. Judgement...

He nods at the folding bow brought out by Clint. "Nice one.." but his focus then goes to Clint's protege, he letting out a breath. "I don't think you are out of your depth. Though if you want to skip on my own mistakes, not attempting to force her into your view would be a good one. Helping her but giving her room to grow on her own too, you know?" he muses.

Though then whatever he might say next about it is interrupted by Vanessa's approach. He grins in her direction. "Hello Vanessa. This is my good friend Clint." a gesture towards Hawkeye, then a glance back. "And this is Vanessa Carlysle, she was involved in the trouble I was talking with you about, among a few other things we have been discovering together." though he does look at her, as if not wanting to reveal further about her own powers without her wishing so.

"We have been staying together now." the warmness he imparts on those words shows they are together most likely in more manners than simply being in the same house. Confirmed when he approaches her to wrap one arm about her.

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint notes the perusal on Vanessa's part, and spreads his arms to give her a better look, smiling wryly when she correctly identifies him saying in an aside to Ollie, "Well guess we won't have to wait for the toys to come out for people to recognize me," he says before looking over to Vanessa and extending his hand. "That's me, Hawkeye, but you can call me Clint." Looking between Olliver and Venessa he asks them, "So, how long has this been a thing?"

"Ouch," Clint says about the punch, subtly checking over his friends for signs of lasting damage, before shrugging about the sample. "Something tells me we'll get another chance for one if they're selling the stuff."

As for his protoge, he nods, "Wait, so I am actually doing it right?" he asks with a low whistle and a smirk at himself. "What are the odds."

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
The young woman shakes Clint's hand. "Really nice to meet you, Clint," she tells him. "Appreciated what you did for New York. The whole... not being killed by alien's thing because of you Avengers? Big fan of that," she tells him with a small grin.

When Oliver comes over, she readily leans against him and puts her own arm around him as well. "I know someone on your medical staff actually. Not real well, but he was in the area and helped with a woman in my building who was hurt and the ambulance was taking forever. Michael Foley," she says to Clint, mentioning one of the medical assistants on the Avenger's medical staff.

Vanessa looks over to Oliver and says, "Oh, about a month and a half, two months now?" she says. For her, time has been sort of nebulous, staying at the mansion and not having anything to keep her knowing what day it is other than maybe Oliver going into the office. Mainly she's just counting ahead to Yu Phun's trial.

Oliver Queen has posed:
When Clint mentions being recognized Oliver lets out a "Yea..., there may be more to it than just that ..." because, well, Vanessa has been learning a lot about Oliver without him having told her about it in the past. "It's been another situation that we came upon recently..." he then looking at Vanessa, placing a quiet kiss on the side of her head, one of greeting, before he lets go.

"And yes, around two months or so I'd think." He nods his agreement, thoughtful. "Time flies, mmm?" he lets out a chuckle, to him the time having been sort of nebulous as of late too.

But then he finally offers a small grin towards Clint. "Don't let it get to your head, Clint. So far you are, got to commit to the long term though." he says about his protege.

Though the mention of Michael Foley makes him mmm. Has he heard the name? Maybe!

Clint Barton has posed:
"Hey, always glad to meet a satisfied customer," Clint smiles to Vanessa as he shakes her hand. "And you know Mike? Yeah, he's a good guy, could definitely see him doing that, you want me to say hi for you?"

Brows raise at there being more to being recognized, he looks between the two of them. "Such as?" he asks, but doesn't push more than that for the moment.

"Two months, grats," he says. "How'd you guys meet?" he asks.

As to his protege, he nods, "Yeah., that's the scary part the commitment, but like you said she's not going to quit, so I guess I'm in it for the long haul."

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa continues to lean lightly against Oliver as she answers Clint. "Well, the short version... I got caught up in an arrest of a drug smuggler and am testifying against him. And his men are trying to prevent that. And Oliver is protecting me," she says. She turns to look at him, and even without their arms about each other's waists, it would be easy enough to tell from Vanessa's expression that it has become more than just bodyguarding between them.

She looks back to Clint and says, "The trial is coming up very soon. Will be glad to put that part behind us," she says, her choice of pronouns suggesting their time together isn't likely to end with the trial.

Oliver Queen has posed:
"Though sometimes I do wonder who is protecting who, mmmm?" Oliver mentions, perhaps a recall to recent events. Though he does smile over to Vanessa, keeping close to her. "And so, Vanessa. We were about to find out who truly is the best archer between the two of us." he tries to imply some seriousness to his tone but there's just that bit of a lingering smile to his lips. "Care to join us?" he suggests.

Though his gaze then goes to Clint, he doesn't really speak much further on how Vanessa would be able to recognize him, leaving that part for her to explain if she so wishes. Instead he nods at the commitment part. "You seem different from the last times we met. Don't think commitment will be too much of a problem for you. In both fronts." his tone solemn, but also supportive.

"Now, do you need some warm up or are you ready to go?"

Clint Barton has posed:
"That explains the guards around the gate then," Clint says as Vanessa fills him in on the situation with the gang. "When's the trial?" he asks the pair of them brows raising at the who's protecting who line. He sizes up Vanessa, "Take it you've got a few skills yourself then?"

When she's invited to join the shoot, he smiles, "Another archer? Well that's lucky for you Ollie," he grins at his friend.

"Sure, a few warm up shots wouldn't hurt," he agrees of the contest. "Work for you?" he asks Vanessa.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa gives a charmed, wry smile to Oliver. She's very expressive, and her hand moves up to rest on his back higher. "It's definitely you protecting me," she tells him with a laugh. "Oh, you could probably sell Pay Per View for this if you were in costume," she tells them.

Vanessa tells Clint when the trial is set for. It is indeed in the very near future, considering the arrest was two months ago, the bulk of the wait having passed.

The invitation to join the shoot gets a hesitant reaction from Vanessa, but just a momentary one when Clint's smile seems to show she'd be welcome. "A few skills," Vanessa repeats as if trying out that phrase on her tongue. "Yes. Whose is sort of still the question," she comments as she walks over to look at the bows. She picks one of Oliver's favorites, testing it out briefly. "I guess I might as well. When in Archerland, and all..." she says with a smile.

Vanessa looks back to Oliver and says, "Do you think Clint might have any insights into my situation?"

Oliver Queen has posed:
The mention of pay per view makes Oliver laugh amusedly. He shakes his head a bit. "This is just to stay between us. I don't want Clint to carry this shame with him forever." but his normally stern eyes are twinkling with amusement when he says that. The arm that is around Vanessa gives her a gentle squeeze before he goes on to start getting the targets ready. And yes, that target range has quite the size so he makes sure to get those targets as far away as possible. To make those shots interesting.

"And he might, or at least know others who may know more of your situation too." Oliver suggests, a nod given to Vanessa, as if saying she should open up about it. Though that option seems to be left to her, as always. He not being the type to betray her privacy. Or how she may want to reveal what she can do.

He eventually comes back from getting the targets ready, testing on the string of his bow and then walking over to pick on a few quivers filled with arrows, bringing them over.

Clint Barton has posed:
There's a chuckle from Clint at the Pay Per View, he gestures at Vanessa with his bow, "Don't tell that one to Stark, he'd do it," he says. "But yeah, this right here is like Fight Club, nobody gets to know how much better than your man I am. I mean, we already poached Wonder Woman from the League, if we beat their archer too, it'd just seem like bullying," he says with a grin flashed at Ollie.

There's definite interest in Vanessa's situation, but he lets the woman speak to it on her own time while he finishes the checks on his bow and takes one of the quivers with a nod. Casually an arrow is drawn and Clint shoots down range at one of the targets. Hitting the bullseye. "Not bad," he says of the set up.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa listens to Oliver's advice as well, turning to him while selecting a quiver. She checks out the arrows even though she knows they are straight, while giving it a moment's thought. The young woman seems to heed the advice as she turns back to Clint while Oliver is setting up the targets.

Vanessa grounds the tip of her bow and leans her chin on her hand on the top of the weapon. "So, I seem to be... picking up things from Oliver," she says slowly. "Or maybe not just him, but him definitely. Like, I knew a story about his mother's china I'd never heard. And know the names of people in his life I've never met. Things are very familiar. When he gave me the code to this area, after the first number or two I realized I already knew it," Vanessa says slowly.

She motions towards the bow. "And I seem to have some of his skills. Yu Phun's men attacked us recently and I wielded a staff the same way he would. I have a little kung fu training, but not really anything with weapons. And... I used his bow and pretty much put the whole quiver in the bullseye. Well, all but one, but there wasn't any space left for another arrow by then. But, I'd never shot a bow coming here. And only shot two arrows before that quiver, both bullseyes."

Oliver Queen has posed:
Oliver narrows his eyes at Clint at the mention of Wonder Woman being poached, "Ow, now you have just made it personal." his tone low, but there's no hiding the amusement there, no matter how much he attempts to insert some broodiness into it. Apparently Vanessa's presence and a good old friend's visit keeps him in too high spirits for that. He then adds. "I wasn't aware she had joined up with you guys. I should visit her more often." though after the disband of the justice league there wasn't much contact left between the various members.

"Don't waste all your bullseyes on practice." He then murmurs when Clint hits one. He casually lifts his old-looking bow, one arrow and shoots one right next to Clint's arrow. A bit of show-off? Well, got to get that competitive spirit going! "Mmm, not bad indeed."

When Vanessa begins to explain the situation he turns to listen to her. Some brief worry but he nods at her. A gesture. "And also the quick association between you and Hawkeye. She was using techniques that took me years to master, and very similar to my own. It's not just something someone picks up by chance. So it is our belief she may have a power. We thought it could be something psychic. But doesn't add up to the physical skills she has also picked up from me."

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint blinks as Vanessa lays out what she's been able to do. "Wow, that's quite the ability, this something new for you or now that you're aware of it, figure it's happened in the past as well?" he asks the woman. "Also, sort of glad my identity isn't secret," he adds about how quickly she recognized him as Hawkeye.

"Well, she may just be hanging out because we're near her embassy, but yeah, she's been around the mansion," it served as a bit of a taunt and a warning. The Justice League loose as it was might be coming undone. Though the return of someone in Blue and Red might turn that around.

Clint grins about his shot, but his attention shifts quickly back to the talk about Vanessa. "There's a guy who can do something similar, called Taskmaster, but he's limited to only the physical stuff. Maybe it's a combination of powers, psychic ahd whatever Taskmaster does or maybe something entirely new."

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa Carlysle moves over to Oliver's side, a hand resting on him as if just that touch of him helps her feel better as she brings up the oddity in her life. "Lots of little things that I didn't really think of until it became something conscious," Vanessa says. "The bank manager at that bank that was held up, knew his name. I'm guessing you've done business there, Oliver? I swear I knew he says 'um' a lot when he talks," she says.

"And... well, now I think about it's there's just too much. I see something in Oliver's room and remember Thea as a girl arguing about playing with it. I read a little about Queen Consolidated, but when I start really thinking about it, there's all sorts of things about the company I feel like I know.

She moves over to where the others shot from. In as quick of a motion as Oliver or Clint does it, she pulls an arrow from the quiver, fits it to the bow in smooth motion and lets it fly, placing it right against the other two arrows."

She looks back to Clint. "Is there like... can they do tests? Or... is it just kind of, experiment with it and figure it out?"

Oliver Queen has posed:
"Mathis. Yes." Oliver offers a nod at this, because indeed that had been another point he had found strange, when he was there as Green Arrow. An half-grin pops up into his expression. "And yes, he does. It gets on my nerves." a brief chuckle and he shakes his head. Though with Vanessa moving closer he places one arm about her waist, keeping her close while she explains further on the situation.

"And you know, Taskmaster makes sense." He remembers that one now, not a constant presence here in Starling but he knows the name at least. "He can copy anything he has seen done. It's perhaps a bit different in Vanessa's case, maybe going deeper since she doesn't seem to have seen it to know. Almost as if she could copy someone in their entirety?" he suggests.

He then lets her go and put on those shots, watching her form, nodding his approval. "Perfect form. As I said, it doesn't come by chance." he says. He casts a look at Clint, then back to Vanessa. "I think it depends on who you want to know about this. Is there even someone who can know what someone's powers can be, Clint?" he is curious actually. Mutations and powered people has never been much of what he normally handled.

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint watches Vanessa shoot, not just the result but how she does it how she moves, it's perfect form and more than that, it's Ollie's form. That's a sobering thought. "Can you do more than pull stuff from Ollie got anyone else up in your head?" he asks her, before he nods about the tests.

"There are ways to try and find out, but they take a lot of doing and like Ollie says, it's going to put you on somebody's radar if we do them. Especially if this is not just a one off thing, where you can bond fully with only one person and pick up their skills, then you're going to be a very, very useful to a lot of people and some of them aren't going to ask nicely if you want to join them or not."

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa turns back from the archery shooting to look at the two men. The talk about potential consequences of people knowing give Vanessa a little pause. "I don't really know. I'm not sure how I did this with Oliver. If there is anyone else like this I haven't really noticed it. But then I've been spending most all of my time with Oliver. I guess..." she pauses and thinks quietly for a few moments.

A shrug of both shoulders and a look of frustration results. "I kind of have to think about something, like, priming the memory, with Oliver. I tried it with John, he's one of the security, and Oliver's mother and sister. I get things that I think are probably from him, but like... thinking about things Thea tells her best friends, I get nothing," she says.

Her eyes go back to Oliver. "Maybe it has something to do with my feelings for him?" she suggests quietly, a somewhat shy smile given as she mentions them. "Are there ways of detecting metahumans? Or, am I too old for this to be a mutant thing?" she asks.

Oliver Queen has posed:
A nod is given to Clint, as that's exactly what he had considered. It can be a gift that other people can try to use for nefarious purposes. "Mostly why we have been keeping it just between the two of us. Though it's something we just came across very recently." he says, placing one hand up on Vanessa's shoulder when he notices that look of frustration, a firm yet gentle touch.

"Perhaps it has to do on how close you are to someone. Could be feelings, at least it's the more obvious option so far. You mentioned there hadn't been any that you wanted to know about in such a manner in the past. Though it's true we are moving in blind a bit. Testing as we go."

"And definitely not old to be a mutant. Mutations can appear later on in life, or it may have been there all along, just that you hadn't found the trigger for it." He explains, though then looks across to Clint.

Clint Barton has posed:
What Clint knew about powers came from seeing them up close, and missions having to do with powered people. He frowns leaning up against a wall, "What Oliver said, I've heard of people getting their mutant gifts later in life, sometimes they manifest and don't show for a while. And given the feelings theory," he smiles a little at how odd the question he's considering sounds, "Don't mean to pry but is Ollie your first love?" he asks her, trying to conduct his own not-so scientific test.

"As for doing testing," he makes a face. "I know someone who might be able to help, /and/ keep things downlow, if she's willing to do it. I can talk to them and see what they say."

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa Carlysle's hand moves to rest atop Oliver's on her shoulder, and she leans gently against him, as if taking comfort from his presence. She listens quietly, dark, pretty eyes gazing off away from them as she lets all of what they have to say sink in.

Her attention is drawn to Clint's question about if Ollie is her first love. Vanessa turns to gaze over at Oliver, and the distance in her gaze is replaced by something far warmer. "Yes. I wouldn't have thought so before, but... I never even knew someone could make me feel like this," she says as she gazes at him.

The look lingers for a few long moments before Vanessa looks back to Clint. "I'd appreciate it. Also if... if there are people who it would be best to avoid knowing about this, in particular? I can use all the advice I can get."

Oliver Queen has posed:
A rather warm smile comes to Oliver's expression too, watching Vanessa while she speaks then he leans in to place his forehead against hers, a moment of sincere affection, one that is rare for him to share with company. Too protective, or considering others may try to use it against them. Though Oliver has always been more on the paranoid side. Here with Clint that seems to be just fine though.

"The feeling is very much returned." He says to her, gently, just before he brings his forehead away from hers. He offers a nod of thanks to Clint. "I'd be owing you one. Don't think I will go easy on you on this contest though." he injecting a little bit of humor, smiling faintly. Then a look back to Vanessa, thoughtful.

"Only those that you feel you can trust with a secret, or as necessary." Though would any other response be expected out of him?

Clint Barton has posed:
There's a warm smile for the couple when Vanessa confesses how Oliver makes her feel, "Pretty great isn't it?" he asks her with a look of a man with recent first hand knowledge of that feeling.

As for secrets and who to tell, "Tell nobody," is Clint's answer. "At least for now, as we learn more, you can trust more, but right now, the best way to keep a secret is to make sure nobody knows about it.

He looks to Oliver, "Which is why I'll keep her name out of things until it's absolutely necessary, if my friend at SHIELD doesn't work out, I know someone on the Avengers who can definitely help."

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
That shared moment touching foreheads brings the warmest smile from Vanessa. "So it's not enough you save my life," she tells Ollie. "You have to go and reveal I'm some archer-absorbing hero too," she says, being very facetious about the hero part. Even if she did beat up some drug dealer minions with a staff pretty handily.

She looks towards the Avenger. "Thank you, Clint. Appreciate the help, and the advice," she tells him. She glances between the two men. "So if I'm shooting with Oliver's skill this is kind of a two on one contest, isn't it," she notes as she smiles and looks between them.

Oliver Queen has posed:
Oliver offers a nod to what they both say. "Yes, thank you for the help." he then steps closer to the targets, a gesture, offering for Clint to go first. Always the gentleman. "We are going with three shots each. Whoever gets closer to the target more times wins." he explains to Vanessa.

The mention of two on one makes him laugh out quietly. "I never play fair. You learn that soon enough, Vanessa." because really, when you are pairing up with people like Superman you need to use all the tricks you can get! "As for you being an archer hero, all I can say is you look a lot better using that bow than I do."

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint smiles and gives a shrug. "Hey anyone who can get Ollie to fall in love is certainly a friend of mine," he says to Vanessa. "I'll ask around, get back to you both about some tests."

Opening his mouth to say pretty much the same thing Clint chuckles when Ollie says he doesn't play fair. "Yep, he's a dirty cheater," he tells Vanessa with a conspiratorial wink.

Then he steps up to the line, reaches for an arrow, sets it to string, then drawing in a breath as he draws, he lets the arrow fly on the out-breath, smacking dead centre on the bullseye. He smirks. "Let the games begin," he tells the others stepping out of the way.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
The brunette laughs softly at the banter between the two. "Well, I can see why you wouldn't, with what you two face." She moves over towards the spot to shoot from, pulling out an arrow and double checking it. She fits it to the bow and gauges the distance then lets the arrow fly.

The three take turns in the first round, the number of arrows in the center of the target equaling the number fired. In the end they have to go down to check the targets closely. It ends up Vanessa's arrows, the ones with the yellow fletchinges, have the tightest spacing in the center, giving her the first round win.

Oliver Queen has posed:
"Mmmm, beginner's luck.." Oliver says when they check the arrows and note that the first round went to the pretty brunette, but he is grinning about it, giving her a light bump with his elbow when she claims the first round win. With the arrows plucked out it's then time for that second round to take.

He looks at the target, then down to his rather old-looking bow. But as he had told Vanessa before one should never take too long before firing. This seems to be the round in which he claims victory because his green (of course) marked arrows are the ones closer to the mark.

"I can already smell victory." he announces.

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint shakes his head as the other two claim the first two rounds, "Looks like you both cheat," he snarks good naturedly. "Match made in heaven right here," he says shaking his head.

When the third round comes, Clint takes his time, focuses, and lets his arrow free.

This time, the purple arrow, his arrow is closest to the mark.

He chuckles lowly, "Well that leaves us at a tie, what do you guys say? All three of us shoot at once for the tie breaker? Go on the count of three?" Clint steps up to the line anyhow, to get ready for the shot.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa motions over towards Oliver. "Of course, I mean, I learned it from him, right," she says with a grin towards Clint. She stands shoulder to shoulder with Oliver between shots. Smiling over to him, clearly enjoying herself.

"Yes, one round each. That sounds like a good way to do it," Vanessa agrees. She walks over to take a spot at the line, drawing out an arrow and knocking it on her string. She checks her arm guard, though in truth she hasn't turned out to need it with Oliver's skill keeping her from snapping herself with the string.

She looks down the long distance to the target and makes ready to shoot.

Oliver Queen has posed:
And so it has come to this final round. Where finally who the true archer will be found. He is focused but he takes a moment to look over at the other two with him, the woman he loves and his old friend. A grin comes to his expression. "Good luck." engraving the moment in his memory.

His focus then turns to the target, exhaling out a breath, just like he has learned during those years lost in the island.

And then the countdown. "1" he murmurs. He picks up the arrow, places it on his bow.

"2" Time to draw up, aim. Visualize the target.

"3" The sound of three arrows being shot echo throughout the arrowcave.
