Never skip leg day
Date of Scene: 07 April 2020
Location: Gymnasium - Happy Harbor High School
Synopsis: It was leg day for Daisy but then it turned into basketball day for Alexander.
Cast of Characters: Alexander Aaron, Daisy Johnson

Alexander Aaron has posed:
The train back to the city arrives each day at 4:45 PM and runs every fifteen minutes. It's steady like clockwork and usually means that the people who need to commute between the Happy Harbor suburbs and the city can get home in a timely manner. It's a perfectly good system, made to handle the influx of traffic with enough trains running on time to handle the load. But for someone like Alexander Aaron there's only one problem.
    School lets out at 3PM.
And so he usually has some time to kill.
He'd pondered taking up a sport, joining one of the school's teams, or something extra-curricular. And, to be fair, he had tried a few of the clubs. But none of them sat too well. The science club mainly seemed to be more of a debate club with the students arguing back and forth. The book club spent most of its time trying to consider which new books to read and usually those were in the fantasy/sci-fi genre. And the art club's teacher chaperone did not care for Alexander ever since he did his class project in pastels on black velvet.
Which, inevitably, led him to just taking his extra time for himself. Like now, in that great gymnasium up in the bleachers, the Olympian youth lounged with one foot up on a lower bleacher, and the other crossed over his knee. He's leaning back, reading a large book that's settled in his lap. And yet somehow not reading it as his attention wanders and he ends up reading the same paragraph three times in a row. So far, it has not been a good time.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Agent Johnson is the type of rebel that brings her van to school (gasp!), so she cares not about trains and other such schedules, going back and forth whenever she pleases! (Or when SHIELD requires her too). But today she also had some time to kill, which meant she got some training out at the gym, because one never skips leg day. Then hitting the showers and off she went, leaving the gym area and going by the gymnasium where the basketball team is having their fun, running about the court.

She glances their way, smiling faintly. It's a quiet enough life here, and she feels she can make a difference out of her missions at SHIELD too. Yet she catches sight of Alexander when she is stepping closer to the exit and instead of leaving she turns to make her way up those bleachers, hands in her jean pockets, hair still damp from the shower and she chinjerking at the young man.

"Hello, Alexander. Interesting book?" She questions, though she very well noticed the absent look while he was 'reading' it.

Alexander Aaron has posed:
The answer from Alexander is a resonant, "Nope!" But not too loud as to carry or interfere with the practice nearby. He does sit up, however, and closes that book with a resonant /whump/ though still has a small slip of paper in it to preserve his spot. The cover on the front of the book declares prominently, 'Guns, Germs, and Steel.' Though it's only the hard bound cover with no sleeve.
"Fourth time I've read this thing, and my dad has asked me this weird esoteric question about it, and still can't find the answer." He slouches to the side, expression twisting with annoyance as he looks toward the door, then back at her. Perhaps only then noticing the wet hair and the casual clothing.
He cocks an eyebrow, but says nothing on that topic, instead he continues on his own. "But it kills some time." Though doesn't kill it well.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Whatever did that book did to you...?" Quake asks with a slightly lifted brow when she notes the way Alexander thumps it close. But then a 'ahhhh' of understanding leaves her when he mentions it being the 4th read. She wrinkles her nose. "Damn, maybe you should look for the wiki entry instead." she suggests, but the tone doesn't seem as if she is being too serious. Note the too.

"You could be playing out there with the team. Why don't you?" She inquires, folding her arms together, eyes ahead on the basketball game going on.

Alexander Aaron has posed:
The youth turns his head to the side and eyes the basketball team going through their drills, his gaze following along with the movement as they run up and down the court, doing a multi-tier passing drill, somewhat interesting to some who might be engaged with the sport, but to Alexander is doesn't really stand out too much.
But she asked a question and so he answers as he turns his head to the side, gaze returning to her. "Not my game. But also organized sports... I'd probably draw attention. I already made the mistake trying out for cheerleading and that got put on youtube." The young Olympian looks back at her, smile a touch sardonic as he looks to her. "Not really looking for that experience gauging how good is too good, and how bad is too bad."
He slouches a bit further against the bleachers, setting one foot on the lower tier one with a thump of his sneaker hitting the wood. "And then when my ego gets in the way and I end up saving the day at the homecoming game, and everyone loves me and I spend all this time telling all the girls I'm not interested and it's nothing but work-work-work." He for some reason picks up a little bit of an English accent at the end there, but his smile might offer the insight that he's not being entirely serious.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"I saw the video.." Daisy replies in a rather casual manner. And of course she would had seen it, considering what she does. Now, did she put a thumbs up or down on it? That's the question. But she does seem somewhat amused, finally glancing back at Alexander. "Thought they had given you a place there. Didn't feel like joining?" she asks, then a gesture to the courtyard. "It can be good to live life a little while you can, you know?" she says, almost as if she was speaking by experience.

"Sometimes we get too deep down in our problems and forget to enjoy what's around us. I have done it." She admits with a slow nod. "Though luckily I found a few good friends who were able to stir me towards a good path." the warmness in her tone seems to imply they are more than simply friends. Though she does grin a bit about the hero part.

"Thought you were looking forward about the hero part. Or where have your thoughts led you to as of late?" she asks, sitting down on the bleachers, one foot casually extended to rest on the bleacher in front.

Alexander Aaron has posed:
"Nah," Alexander sets the book down beside him and folds his arms across his chest, eyes distanced and upon the gymnasium floor below. It was down there, after all, that he did that series of flips and jumps for the cheerleading tryout. Perhaps his thoughts drift back then as his lip curls up a little with a smile at the memory.
Looking back to her he says, "I mainly did it out of spite, since people were giving this other kid grief for wanting to tryout and saying it was a girls thing." He waves a hand a bit.
    "But meh."
Then she mentions the hero thing and his eyebrows lift, "Ah. That... sorta fell through." Alexander says as he leans to the side and hefts his backpack up by one strap. The metal teeth whir as he undoes the zipper, tossing the book inside there before he looks back at her. "When I got dumped. Was sort of only doing it to see if we could have that common ground." He makes a small dismissive gesture to the side, waving it off.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
A roll of her eyes. "It's totally not just a girl's thing. Some people need to get into the 21st century or something..." Daisy shakes her head a bit, letting out a sigh. "And so, you were protecting the other boy. Quite noble of you." she grinning over, brushing fingertips through her hair, sliding it away from her face, slanted gaze fully on him now. "Dumped, uh?" her brows knit together, but she doesn't inquire further on that issue.

Instead she focuses on the heroism part, "Thought you were doing it for more than simply getting laid." she being rather direct about it. "But well, doesn't mean you can't find other avenues to pursue your goals. If it's something you actually want and not just a 'meh' thing to do."

Alexander Aaron has posed:
"Wasn't... protecting per se." Alexander says as he folds his arms over his chest, looking a little pensive. Never quite liking it when there's a half truth floating around. He looks away, then back, then away again and murmurs. "More the guy who was making the noise sort of annoyed me. So I figured just do it to spite the guy. And yeah ok, Owen does get a lot of grief, thought I'd let people know that they're jerks."
    So perhaps not that heroic.
But then when she keys onto the dumping part his eyes slide back to her and there's a sort of scowl to his features. And for a moment he seems on the edge of saying something, but then just shakes his head and lets that tendril of the conversation go as he just murmurs, "You know what, you wouldn't understand." And with that he looks back at the basketball team.
A few moments pass before he then adds, "I don't really have any goals."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Not protecting?" That makes Daisy consider, pondering with her lips pursed together. "Ah, so mostly proving someone else wrong. That works just as well. The result in the end was the same." she concludes, smiling faintly towards Alexander.

It's the part when he tells her that she wouldn't understand that makes the IT teacher quirk her brows up in a thoughtful manner. "I wouldn't?" she opens her arms to the sides. "Try me, if you wish. And everyone has goals. They may just take a while realizing they are there. Or need the right nudge to discover where they truly were all along." again, almost as if she was talking by experience.

Alexander Aaron has posed:
A deep breath is taken as Alexander looks down and to the side, his curious hazel eyes unfocused for a time as he shakes his head. But then he looks back at her and apparently sees no harm in telling her as he murmurs calmly. "Part of the thing about being who I am, is that I don't feel fear."
The youth turns then to face her more directly, resting both of his feet on the lower bleacher and in turn resting his forearms on his thighs, leaning ahead with his fingers interlacing. "So that echoes out with other things. It makes it hard to connect with people, to relate."
Alexander chews on his lower lip for a moment thoughtfully then murmurs, "So I've found that if I'm going to be doing something like... helping people. It's usually better to have someone I respect and trust around, to follow their lead, get a key on things. Otherwise, doing it myself?"
The blond youth shakes his head, "I just don't care. Mel. I trusted her. I could reasonably understand where she was coming from."
Then there's a pause and he shrugs, "Anyways."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"You don't think you are exactly fit to lead as of yet, but instead you are looking for someone that can teach you such." Seems to be part of what Daisy takes out of what he says, letting out a thoughtful mmm at that. A considering look towards him then she mulls it over, thoughtful. She is in silence for a time until she finally breaks silence. "I could bring you to someone." she says, "They have helped me before, perhaps they can do the same for you." she offers, gesturing with her hand.

"Having fear is important though, and it doesn't seem to me as if you completely lack it. Maybe it simply shows in different manners." Even if she doesn't exactly knows how Godlings work. But she at least knows how to read people, somewhat. She has her days.

Alexander Aaron has posed:
"Mmm," Alexander says, that sound signaling unvoiced disagreement, but he waves a hand to the side and leans forward, looking down at his sneakers and nudging a shoe a little. "You might be mistaking not wanting to deal with craziness and fallout from whatever as fear. More just... avoiding annoyances." Because of course that's what it is.
He then looks up and tilts his head to the side, "I've had a lot of instructors. What's one more?" But she can likely read that the sentiment behind the words aren't exactly... confident in the likelihood of his learning something.
But then he gives a small boneless shrug and murmurs, "Who knows, maybe you're right?" His lip twists and he murmurs, "Crazier things have been known to happen."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Avoiding annoyances. Uh-uh..." As if Daisy doesn't exactly buy into whatever Alexander is talking about. She lifts her shoulders a bit, getting up to her feet and brushing her hands over her jeans, "If you say so. I stand by what I said. And you are getting close to a point in which you won't be having the need for many more instructors. At least in the traditional sense." a gesture given to what is around them.

"Though simply because it didn't work once, doesn't mean you can't continue trying. Life is failure and trying again afterall, isn't it?" she grinning down at the young god, then nodding her head towards the gymnasium exit. "I will be catching you later. We will meet soon and talk about this." she gives him a thumbs up before starting to go down the bleachers, hands slipping inside her pockets.

Alexander Aaron has posed:
The sour expression on Alexander's features is typical teenager in so many ways though he might not even be aware of it. Whether it's because of her not buying what he's saying, or her offering him those words of advice, it's not clear what he's sort of grimacing about. Maybe it's all of it, but whatever the case may be he does at least lift a hand to wave after her.
    "Seeya."
But then once she's gone he looks across the way and then stands up to hop down the bleachers a few times and then claps his hands as he calls out to one of the basketball players near him, "Hey. Hey! Give up the brick, dawg." And once it's tossed his way he starts running down the court.
