Green Meetings
Date of Scene: 12 March 2022
Location: Earth Orbit
Synopsis: John and Kori meet and discuss downtime
Cast of Characters: John Stewart, Koriand'r

John Stewart has posed:
With multiple Green Lanterns in the sector, Hal and John don't need to be as spread out as they would be. Instead, with the sheer number of incidents on Earth all the time, one can stay available for Sol, and the other handles business elsewhere in the sector.

This week is John's turn to handle off-world business, and as he comes back into Earth orbit, the green energy field around him flares as he Wills it into a heat shield, preparing for re-entry over the east coast...

Koriand'r has posed:
Kori was...out and about. That was probably the best way to explain how one would sum up a combination of an extended patrol somewhere other than the immediate city surounding Titan tower and the Tamaranian woman's desire to 'stretch her legs' for a bit. A streak of light across the horizon, the orange-skinned alien herself might be taken for a green comet as she made her way through the air.

Did she have a destination in mind? Almost certainly, but she didn't necessarily seem in a rush to get there.

John Stewart has posed:
Re-entry goes smoothly, directly above Kori. John is a flaring red comet in the sky as he flies through the thermosphere...

It doesn't take long for him to turn back into a green beacon in the sky as his course puts him directly in the path of Kori as she goes her own way... and he slows down to get a look at her, those green glowing eyes almost a mirror of her own... for different reasons.

Koriand'r has posed:
Generally glowing visitors from beyond entering the upper atmosphere warranted a second look. Kori certainly did when she arrived after all!

The streak of energy that was Kori shifted paths, intercepting the already slowing lantern and coming to a effortless hovering stop with a quizical tilt of her head. Had the Princess heard of the Lantern Corp or was she simply regarding the extra-terrestrial visitor who seemed more immediately human than she did?

John Stewart has posed:
As they meet, John crosses his arms, making no attempt to conceal the Power Ring on his finger.

This close, Kori can tell the details of John's uniform, including the prominent Green Lantern symbol on his chest. The black man hovers there, glancing her up and down as he drinks in the details of her, before he looks to her eyes, "Your people are fairly distinctive." John casually informs her. "Good evening, Starfire. Or do you prefer Koriand'r?"

Koriand'r has posed:
"A Lantern," she greets, her own hands remaining at her side for the moment as she hovers, her gaze indeed taking in the figure before her. "But you're not one I have met before...and you seem to know who I am." Stating the obvious, but Kori shrugs her bare shoulders lightly before offering her hand lightly. "Either is acceptable, though most of the humans here on this world seem to prefer Starfire. I find it is easier for many of them to pronounce, or maybe it is just more inspiring to them."

With the latent energy that had been filling her eyes and dancing between her fingertips suggesting she was relaxing her guard just a little more than that initial caution had required, Starfire does shift a little in the air, almost as if she were reclining slightly in her floating.

"What brings you to Earth Lantern?"

She didn't know this one's name after all.

John Stewart has posed:
"I live here." John tells her, matter of factly. "My name is John Stewart. I'm one of the Green Lanterns of this sector, alongside my partner." He floats over to her, remaining in that standing, arms crossed position, before he offers a hand for a handshake. "I'm the only publicly known Green Lantern in the corps, to my knowledge, and I make it a point to study up on other supers who are public. I like to know who I might run into on patrol."

He smiles. It's charming and disarming. This man exudes presence and a hint of aggression, but he's not projecting hostility at all.

It's like a tiger, strung to leap at any time; a classic military posture.

Koriand'r has posed:
"Another 'Earthling' Lantern then," Kori nods, her own arms shifting now to lazily cross under her bust as she nods. "It is a pleasure to meet you then John Stewart of Earth. I am always happy to meet another willing to protect those in need, regardless of what world they find themselves on."

Herself? Kori seemed genuine, bright and friendly enough. Every aspect of her own body language seemed comfortable, confident and unconcerned. Nothing -quite- seemed threatening about her, almost certainly because she herself didn't seem to feel the need to be threatening...or she'd been taught to seem that way. The warlords upbringing or the mark of Royalty perhaps?

John Stewart has posed:
Quiet until he needs to be loud, one could quickly guess John is 'on alert' at all times while on duty. But what most don't notice immediately is the strategic mind. Kori is easily a bit of a contradiction from the known culture of her people in a lot of ways, and that is filed away.

John never judges by first imnpression... but keeping mental notes is how you keep ahead of the game.

"I was actually just about to go off duty and take a day for myself. Care to join me?" John asks.

It's hard to tell from his tone if it's him asking her on a date or not... with her experience with humans. He's definitely not a boy, so the nervous energy of a lack of confidence isn't there; he's comfortable with himself.

Koriand'r has posed:
"I am...on patrol," Koriand'r offers, but there is a pause to her words, a little quirk of her lip in consideration. "But it is a 'relaxed patrol' of sorts, I am keeping an eye out for trouble but...I am not opposed to some relaxation in the time between."

Whatever the interpretation, it seems to be accepted. Perhaps the alien girl was quite happy for the excuse for a little downtime, or simply was that friendly and approachable to even a relative stranger once she was certain they were on the same side.

"How exactly were you planning on taking this 'Self day'?"

John Stewart has posed:
"A beach day with a Fire tablet. Sometimes I do some range training as well. Or if I'm looking for an indoors day, some video games." John immediately answers, "but, if you're interested, I can change those plans. What are you interested in on your off days?"

Koriand'r has posed:
A shrug again from Starfire as she shifts position in their hovering skyborn meeting, the Tamaran princess glancing downwards. "I am not opposed to relaxation at a beach, even if I am not familier with a 'fire tablet'. Some of the more literal or 'turns of phrase' are still quite alien to me. Human language is confusing, even with my people's abilities."

Video games? That just made Koriand'r smirk, but at least it wasn't unfamilier to her courtesy of Titan Tower's own resident gamers.

John Stewart has posed:
"A Fire Tablet is a thing from Amazon. It's a portable PC that's tied into their services. Smaller and cheaper than a laptop. If you use the Amazon website at all, I recommend it." John tells her, "I can show it to you once I'm back home. How long are you on patrol for?"

Koriand'r has posed:
An informal patrol meant...an informal limit. "As long as I feel I am able and willing to," Kori answers with a shrug, certainly her 'duty' for today was less formalized or regimented than perhaps the Lantern Corp's own patrols, duties and assignments. "I suppose it is a case of always keeping an eye out for trouble when I can. There is no time, even relaxing, when I would not stop to offer aid to someone in need."

John Stewart has posed:
"That's fair. I know people like that." John nods, an acknowledging one. "How about we head to my condo, I get my tablet and hotspot phone, and we head to the beach from there?"
