Cast of Characters: Ted Kord, Joan Wright

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord and Joan made a trip to Pago Pago Island. It was a fiasco, like all Ted's trips to Pago Pago. However, Ted asked Joan to try her Mutant Fixer Up power on Dan Garett's magic scarab. Which seemed to be inert. The trick worked on the scarab, but Joan was the one to receive the power of the Blue Beetle! It looked good on her too.

What does a sort of shy, somewhat passive woman do when she's turned into a human tank? Act on her basest impulses? Fight the patriarchy? Indulge in her carnal side?

Well, Ted can't comment on other women. However, his particular woman? She's in his thick socks, sweat pants and a long sleeved tee, being about his height presently, and on the floor playing with Legos.

She has forbidden knowledge. Boys' clothes are comfy!

He'll never get those back.

Ted comes out of the kitchen bearing a tray of dumplings, a tea pot and a number of chopsticks. His right arm and hand is wrapped in bandages -just sprains and a bone bruise.

Truthfully, he takes a moment to admire the view. "Am I ever getting you out of those clothes?" he asks, immediately regretting the way he put it.

Joan Wright has posed:
Despite her vast knowledge of the proper ways to build things and years of manuvering around the tiny plastic bricks,Joan is a bit slower with the LEGOs than she normally would be. One of the reasons appears to be that they ARE tiny plastic bricks. And for a woman who managed to bend some of the metal pieces of the bug and rip off a hatch door? Well... There is a slowly growing pile of mishappen LEGOs that didn't quite make it. Good thing she's using Ted's collection and not hers.

But the sweats are indeed comfy. And being Ted had the foresight to loan out the pair that came with pockets, she doesn't have any complaints regarding attire.

She sighs, tossing another LEGO into the scrap pile before picking up another one carefullly. Ted's question does serve to distract her from this particular element of her predicament, causing for her to glance up, give an almost mischevious smile and a shake of her head. "Too comfy. They're mine now. Thank you for your donation."

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord wants to say maybe the scarab was a little bit too kind. His clothes look a little small on her, but in the right way. He sets the tray on the table and says, "Ok, Stop playing with the Legos and come eat young lady or no dessert!" He walks over and extends his good hand to her. He nods encouragement. She accepts and he... pulls at her, with a bit more resistance than he expected. Big girl. He comes off balance and topples onto the floor. He was used to lifting the old Joan with a weight of <<redacted>>. He winces and then smiles. "It was my off hand. You didn't hurt me," he hastily explains. Man don't let er cry. tht's his soft spot

Joan Wright has posed:
To the mention of food, Joan looks over towards the tray being set down and smiles. Dumplings! YES! She starts to roll onto her knees to push herself up but hesitates as Ted offers a hand to her. There is an unspoken exchange between the two before she accepts, trying to help a little by pushing up with the balls of her feet

As Ted topples back, it is apparent that Joan may have helped too much. She frowns, bending down at the knees to help Ted up. It takes a few moments of consideration. She didn't want to hurt his arm like she did on Pago Pago so just grabbing that wasn't an option buuuuut...

She ends up scooping her hands under Ted, lifting him off the ground for a moments. She looks down to him, still a bit uncertain about how she's going to go about this. Eventually she sets him upright by lowering one of her arms so his feet can properly set upon the floor. "Did that work?" Joan asks, "Not too much?"

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord lets his feet touch the floor. He frowns a little at his feet, then looks Joan in the eyes and head tilts. Yeah, she's taller too. Then he smiles a little. He touches his nose to hers. "If this is long term, would you like to know what my major adjustment will be? Can you lift off the floor a little bit, like 3 inches?" He steps back and indicates how high, putting a hand over Joan's head to demonstrate.

Joan Wright has posed:
Joan tilts her head to look to the extended hand. "Um." Her head shifts up a little as she lifts herself up on her toes. Her hair brushes agains the hand momentarily before she drops back down. "Hmm-" She bounces up again. Still nothing.

"This was so much easier when I thought I was going to die."

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord says, "Just stay on your tip toes. You'll get the flying. Ahh.. Close enough. Thank you." He steps back into her personal space, rests his uninjured hand on her shoulder and rises on his tiptoes to kiss her softly. He thinks a moment and then does it again, resting against her the way she did to him many times.

"I liked when you had to stretch to kiss me. Actually, I think I like this way, too... and we could alternate wearing heels to take turns"

Demonstration concluded, he pulls a chair out for her and seats himself.

Joan Wright has posed:
Joan stops bouncing up and down as Ted points out she could just stay on her toes for a bit. Taking the cue, she glances down to see Ted raising himself up. She tilts her head down to receive the kiss, arms wrapping around Ted. "Hopefully this will wear off..." Joan replies, looking to the well fitted nature of the borrowed shirt. "...I'm keeping the outfit though."

When Ted makes an indication of wanting to sit down, she releases him and lowers herself back down to the ground. Walking over to the pulled out chair, she sits down carefully, looking to the plate of dumplings and the nearby chopsticks. "Thank you for dinner." She smiles over to Ted before she reaches for her chopsticks, slowly positioning them in her slightly larger hand. This is going to be challenging.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord breaks his chopsticks apart rubbing them against each other to remove slivers. Then he sees Joan about to use hers and his breath catches a little.

<<BEGIN CONTRAFACTUAL SCENARIO>> Ted gives Joan a fork. Winds up with a ruined fork imbedded in his nice table. <<END CONTRAFACTUAL SCENARIO>> Nah, chopsticks are safer.

He does tense a little but it's from the waist down so she won't see it.

Joan Wright has posed:
As Joan's attention is shifted over to the two wooden sticks in her hand, it is safe to presume she does NOT know what is going on under the table at Ted's end. Her left hand is busy, adjusting the sticks in the other hand, resting the bottom stick between the curled ring finger and the thumb while the top stick is relegated to its position between the middle and index.

There are a few slow test lifts and lowers of the top stick before Joan gives a relieved sigh. She reaches over to the main plate to retrieve her piece of dumpling. Sure there are other ways to retrieve the food from the main plate but she JUST got the sticks positioned just right to have ONE function. Why overcomplicate things on the first try?

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord realizes the one problem with chopsticks. His sweet little demolition machine had badly sprained his right hand. He fiddles with the sticks in his left hand for a bit, gives a suffering smile. Then he stabs a dumpling with a stick and manages to get it to his mouth. Hmph... he feels like a three year old. But Joan seems to be having enough to... oh no!

Joan Wright has posed:
Joan frowns as the piece of dumpling she retrieves ends up landing on the floor. There's the slight blur of pale wood as the lower half of the top stick of her chopstick set manages to finish it's aerial display and follow after the lost dumpling.

Joan lowers what's left of the chopsticks onto her plate. Pouting for a moment. Wasted food. Is there anything sadder?

She shakes her head and uses her fingers to retrieve the next one. Sorry Ted. But she's hungry. Popping the dumpling into her mouth, she chews happily.

Ok. Things are looking a bit better.

Ted Kord has posed:
Things are going to look good. Ted will see to that. He gets up and pulls his multi-tool out of his pocket, he gets the fork open with his teeth. Then he walks over to Joan. His intention is to help Joan out but... the dumpling on the floor trips him up and he winds up landing in her lap. He starts snickering, no way that'd hurt her.

He cuts a dumpling and attempts to give her a piece.

"I think... is this being romantic? Anyway, I will help you through this, sweetie. Relax." He gives her a peck on the forehead.

Joan Wright has posed:
While she was too slow to save the dumpling from its horrid fate the sight of Ted falling does manage to trigger something. In the time of his fall, Joan manages to slide the chair back slightly, giving him plenty of opportunity to land on her lap. An arm reaches up, not to catch him but to help stop his momentum before he has the chance to roll out of the lap.

Brown eyes look to Ted's blue as she checks to make sure she didn't accidentaly break something else on his person. When assured she didn't, she watches him cut open the dumpling and gives a small smile as he vocalizes his intent. She nods, scooting the chair up so the two of them can eat together.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord cuts the dumpling up. "You can feel silly or weird or just frustrated, even if you can throw a tank. You might be bigger, faster, stronger and able to hold a lit stick of dynamite and enjoy the warm breeze from it. But, I can at least protect your feelings." For his part, he might have started to feel like a lapdog, but as he settles in, wrapping his bad arm on Joan's muscular shoulders, and snuggling, he doesn't feel like a lapdog at all.

For the first time in his life he feels like a man who has...

Everything!
