Synopsis: Eddie surprise Gwen with flowers and dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Bamonte argue adorably, but make some mean Italian.
Cast of Characters: Eddie Brock, Gwen Stacy

Eddie Brock has posed:
Down on the street below, Gwen Stacy was walking to one of her classes at Empire State University. Up above, unnoticed, a hulking, black-skinned figure hugged to a roof to peer over at her without being seen. Venom did the equivalent of a sigh at looking at the beautiful young blond woman, though it came from the other half of the symbiotic relationship.

<<Eddie>> "Look at her, buddy. She's just... there really aren't words for her. She leaves me at a total loss."

Venom's maw draws back in a grin which for a change has no sign of malevolence. "She is too good for you."

<<Eddie>> "WAY too good for me."

"Lucky for you then that you have me. To make you more worthy!" Venom replies. Which draws stunned, possibly amused silence from Eddie's mind for a few long moments.

<<Eddie>> "Well, you haven't blown it for me. For us. And I appreciate that. Just look at her though. It's not even how beautiful she is. It's just... she's like an angel. What an angel should be. Not the things who came to Manhattan. She's so good and kind and... and I really need to find a way to let her know how I feel."

Venom nods. "I like her," he says energetically. "We shall do this!" Venom creeps back from the roof's edge without Gwen noticing, and leaps away.

That afternoon when Gwen leaves campus, she finds a familiar figure on the sidewalk at the exit she normally uses, leaning against a fence that rings the campus at that location. Eddie Brock is standing there, wearing slacks and a nice shirt and coat, though no tie. He has a small bouquet of a half-dozen roses in hand, wrapped in plastic. The way his face lights up at the sight of the beautiful blond makes it clear to anyone watching that he was waiting for Gwen.

Gwen Stacy has posed:
Biology first. Then Genetics with Doctor Connors, group work with Amanda. Lunch ...

Gwen's mind is going through all she has to do today while walking across campus at a quick pace. For a moment she pauses though, glancing up at that rooftop where Venom was a second after he's gone. There's that familiar feeling again.. Danger? Or something else? "Stop being a weird spider, Gwen.." she murmurs to herself. A sigh later and she is going back to her busy day...

Later that day she is walking out of classes. At last! There is a bright little smile to her lips as she talks with Amanda about the newest gossip at ESU. Amanda knows it all of course so it's mostly Gwen listening on. At least until she spots Eddie over yonder. A brow quirks at the surprise, a blink followed by a wide grin. Some words are exchanged with Amanda and the two girls go their separate ways, Gwen making her way over. "Must be a lucky gal the one you are waiting for.." she comments with some amusement towards Eddie.

Today she is dressed in a pair of tight jeans, tank top with a hoodie atop it. Arms are wrapped around a few of her books and she has a backpack over her shoulders. A very casual look for her!

Eddie Brock has posed:
Eddie stands up straight from his lean, his rugged face looking a little less rough with the smile that grows across it as Gwen comes over to him. "Pretty sure I'm the lucky one," Eddie tells her, moving over to meet Gwen as she reaches him. His hand moves to the small of her back as he leans down to give her a kiss. One that's a little longer and even more tender than he might normally greet her with.

He leans back to meet her eyes again then. "I thought if you didn't have plans for the rest of evening, I'd surprise you with dinner down at Bamonte's," he says, naming an intimate little mom and pop Italian restaurant down the street from their apartment. "And, maybe a few other little surprises later," he says, teasing the rest of the evening.

"And these are for you," he tells her, offering the roses over. If she lets him, he takes the bookbag off her shoulders and slings it over his own.

Gwen Stacy has posed:
"Maybe we can share on the luck then." Is Gwen's smooth reply, radiant grin still on her lips just before she is swept up for a kiss, her back arching to 'meld' against that large hand that wraps around her. Lips feel warm, gentle, the kiss lingering as they share a moment right there on campus. Yet even with all the tenderness there's a little suckle and bite on his lower lip when they are to separate from the kiss, just a hint of naughtiness on those clear blue eyes.

"Bamonte's?" She lets out a chuckle, "As long as I get enough time to change?" she asks. She doesn't want to be getting looks with being in jeans and hoodie at a fancy restaurant!

The roses take her attention right after though, she gladly trading the backpack for the bouquet, leaning in to take a good, nice scent from them. "Fresh." she tells him. "Thank you, these are lovely."

Eddie Brock has posed:
That little nibble makes Eddie's smile grow wider. His hand gives her bottom a brief swat before he turns to face the direction she was heading, his arm sliding around her, hand resting on her far hip. "Absolutely. Not that I think you need to," he tells her, glancing down the beautiful young woman's figure. "You're a dream the way you are already."

Gwen being pleased with the flowers gets a big smile from Eddie. After budgeting for the meal, he didn't have much left. Not enough for a full dozen, though in truth the smaller bundle felt like it was a little more intimate and personal in some way. But well worth it to see her reaction. "Come on, let's head up and you can get changed," he says.

He walks with her down the street the short distance to the apartment building, holding the door for her as they go inside.

Gwen Stacy has posed:
It doesn't take long for Gwen to get changed. Just some washing up, getting her hair pinned up and with some semblance of being combed. The dress? It's pretty much one of her usuals. She certainly isn't the type to have a new dress for every occasion. So this might be like ..., the 20th time Eddie has seen her in this one. A long, black one that leaves her arms bare. Cheap one, but it works for Gwen!

"Tadaaa.." She tells Eddie. And then it's off to the restaurant. At least after their CHICKEN is fed with some corn. She lifts a brow at Eddie as if challenging him to tell the truth about where the chicken came from. She always does that, because she certainly doesn't thing it was some kind of gift. But soon enough they are at the restaurant's door.

"Sooo, is there a special occasion we are celebrating?" She asks Eddie right as they are walking to the door.

Eddie Brock has posed:
Eddie Brock is familiar with the dress, though it doesn't matter how many times he see her in it. Each time it's enough to make his throat dry up at how beautiful she is. "You look like a million bucks," he tells her, leaning down for another tender kiss before it's time to head off to the restaurant.

As usual, Eddie dodges any specifics about Sonny the Chicken. Including dodging any mention that Cher the Chicken is up on the roof in the impromptu coop he built, waiting to be introduced. Because, that isn't what tonight's dinner is about.

"Just wanted you to do something to show you just how special you are to me, Gwen Stacy," he tells her as they ride down the elevator, the man's arm around her slender form. He nuzzles a kiss to the top of her head and then they are on the ground floor and heading outside.

There are familiar faces on the walk to the restaurant. Kids who live nearby who know them both, by face or by name. Families, or people working hot dog carts or working the pizza stand down the way. Several see Gwen in the dress and Eddie in the sports jacket and the couple are given even brighter smiles than they usually garner.

Eddie opens the door of the restaurant for Gwen. It's a small place, going deeper into the building than it is wide. The lights are kept lower for ambience, and each table is given a secluded feel by its placement.

Mr. Bamonte comes over moment after they arrive. "Ah, a vision," the older Italian man says of Gwen. "Your table is waiting for you," he says with a smile, leading them over, and pulling out Gwen's chair for her to be seated.

Gwen Stacy has posed:
The familiar faces are all greeted with either a smile or a wave from Gwen. And of course having to refuse a pizza slice from a cart owner down the street. It's been many a night they went for that 'gourmet' meal in the past! But not tonight.

Blue eyes take in the ambiance as they walk into the restaurant, along with where everything is placed. Darn that spider spatial awareness! But then they are being led to their table, Gwen elegantly making way and waiting for the chair to be pulled before sitting down. She murmurs a soft, "Thank you." before her attention is back on Eddie.

"Are you sure we can afford this?" She whispers once Mr. Bamonte is gone, "This place looks way too fancy." she reaches over to brush fingertips over Eddie's hand before squeezing it.

Eddie Brock has posed:
Eddie Brock takes his seat across from her with a few words of gratitude for Mr. Bamonte. The man goes off to get their menus and water, leaving Gwen and Eddie alone for the moment. Eddie's fingers touch back to Gwen's. "I put in a few extra shifts unloading fish," he tells her. "We'll be ok. And you deserve a night like this," he tells her, smiling across the table to the beautiful young woman.

Their host comes back, and his wife who works in the kitchen comes with him. "Ah, Gwen, you don't come and see us often enough!" Mrs. Bamonte says, moving over to give Gwen a kiss on both cheeks. "I have just the thing for you, you don't need menus," she tells them.

Mr. Bamonte looks at his wife, gesturing with the menus he was about to give the couple. A brief, rapid-fire exchange of Italian goes back and forth, accompanied by a lot of waving hands. The tone is much more combative than the sweet words offered to Gwen and Eddie. It ends quickly, with the elderly woman making a shooing gesture that sends her husband off with the menus. Her tone immediately goes back to that of warm and loving grandmother as she tells them, "You see. I'll go and get your meal started. Such a lovely girl," she says to Gwen, and a glance to Eddie that seems to say in a single look that he'd better realize that too and treat her right!

Gwen Stacy has posed:
"It's a waste that you continue to work there. I should go talk to J. Jonah and --" Gwen pauses when the Bamontes come back in, her smile returning as well and she grinning up at them. "Too much college work and not enough time to sit down and have an actual dinner. But Eddie decided to surprise me today." she says with a soft chuckle once they exchange that very typical euro greeting of kisses on both cheeks.

"Oh?" She asks with curiosity about what the Bamontes may have in mind for them, blinking at that quick exchange in italian. "They seemed angry. Or rather, just a normal day for them." It's not like they hide their temper! It makes her shake her head a little. "I wonder what she has up her sleeve..." eyes again finding Eddie's.

"So, where were we?" She leans over to place a kiss on the man's lips while they wait.

Eddie Brock has posed:
Eddie can't help but grin at the conversation between the couple. "I think that was just how couples that have been married together for that long talk to each other. At least in Italian," he tells with Gwen with a quiet chuckle.

He manages to not react to the mention of J. Jonah Jameson. Not going to let any thing take his focus from making this the best night for Gwen he can possibly make it. He leans back to share the soft kiss. Eddie reaches up, fingers delicately brushing along Gwen's jaw and chin. Then fingertips caressing her cheek before he lets his hand fall as Mr. Bamonte returns with a bottle of red wine for them. "My own favorite," he tells them. "The Mrs. isn't the only one to do something special for you today," he says as he pours their glasses, then leaves them to be alone again.

"I was just starting to tell you how much better my life has been since you came into it," Eddie tells her, looking into the girl's beautiful blue eyes. "I really should probably thank Mrs. Wong at some point. Though I think if I do she'll just hit me with something and lecture me in Chinese," he says with a soft grin.

Gwen Stacy has posed:
"Oh, you shouldn't had..." Gwen tells Mr. Bamonte when he comes over with a wine bottle. Not that she stops him! She can appreciate a kind gesture without being too fussy about it. A radiant smile is offered up to the man before she looks back to Eddie, "Don't do it." she replies. About thanking Mrs. Wong! "She will just have you owe her a favor, probably have you repair something for free." A beat, "Again..." because of course Mrs. Wong likes abusing a friendship. Hard calloused businesswoman!

"My life is a lot warmer with you in it too." She admits, the hand staying atop Eddie's, fingertip tracing over the calloused hand, "It's been a ..., rough couple of years. I don't even know how I have made it this far but having you here has made it a lot better." whatever is she talking about? "It's good to have these moments." she lifts the glass of wine to clink it with Eddie's before taking a sip.

Eddie Brock has posed:
Eddie Brock's fingers curl up to brush along the bottom of Gwen's overturned palm as he chuckles about him fixing something. "Though it involved a bit of sweeping, I think overall I'm pretty happy with how the furnace repair went," he says, remembering that after, he'd had a hard time denying his growing feelings for Gwen.

"yes, it has been kind of rough for us both, hasn't it?" he tells her. "I don't really know where I'd be right now without you in my life. I was sinking into some dark places, Gwen. And you pulled me back up. Made me care about again in ways I hadn't for a long time."

He touches his glass to Gwen's and sips the wine as well, eyes staying on the woman. "Wow," he says, finally looking away to glance at the wine. "I see why it's his favorite," he says of the wine.

The sound of footsteps precedes the matronly Italian woman bringing out their food. "Here you are!" she tells them. "Two plates of cavatelli with venison bolognese," she says, setting their plates down. Her husband brings warm bread, and plates that he adds olive oil and pepper onto it for dipping the bread in. "Bellissima," Mrs. Bamonte says to Gwen, touching her cheek fondly. Then turning to her husband, her face turning more stern. "Why you stand around, they trying to have a romantic dinner. They don't want to see your sour face!" She walks off to the kitchen, leaving her husband to follow in her wake, replying to her in Italian, waving one hand about as he does.

Gwen Stacy has posed:
"You have no idea..." Gwen says about the rough times for them. She takes in a deep breath, perhaps taken by the moment, almost as if she was about to speak out a large secret, "I should really tell you about where I ..." but then she is 'saved by the bell'. Or in this case by the arriving Mrs. Bamonte with their food. Her focus goes there, the moment gone. "It smells heavenly." she tells the matronly mother, unable to stop herself from licking her lips when she spots the food being put on the table.

And then the bread. It's almost to have her start salivating but Gwen laughs it out, "With all this food how ever are we going to get home later?" she tells the duo. When they leave she tells Eddie, "They are great, aren't they?"

She looks at the food and then grins, "I had no idea I was this hungry earlier today..." she admits and then starts digging in. Ravenous! "This was a great idea, Eddie."

Eddie Brock has posed:
Eddie Brock has a smile for the elderly couple as they depart. "Yes, they really are. I wonder how long they've been together?" he says. His attention returns fully to Gwen though, and hearing that it seems the dinner is hitting the spot for Gwen makes him smile warmly. "Good, sounds like I picked a great night for it then," he tells her, reaching over to give her hand a squeeze before she starts digging into her food.

Eddie starts in as well then. "Mmmmm," he says after a first bite, sighing at the flavor. "This is amazing," he comments. Eddie pulls back the white towel covering their bread to keep it warm, offering the basket to Gwen to get a slice before he gets one for himself. He dips it into the olive oil and takes a bite. "One great thing about living in New York, is the food," he says.
