Date of Scene: 08 April 2022
Location: Angelo's Pizza
Synopsis: Zoomy and Sarah talk about the meaning of life taught from Beat 'Em Ups
Cast of Characters: Sarah Rainmaker, Carin Taylor

Sarah Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah Rainmaker is normally not the type for pizza. But one can always stand to go out for something good. Sarah Rainmaker is on a casual jog as she would head into the pizzeria, moving to look around at the various things put out. She would pause, hwoever, and then see the arcade machines. Memories going through her head as her lips would tiwtch upwards over in response.

Carin Taylor has posed:
Carin, on the other hand, is not only the type for pizza, but has the metabolism where an entire pizza is something she can totally finish, and a large one at that often. She's about halfway through a supreme, reading off a tablet a bit awkwardly with one hand where her other is being used to snag pizza and/or drinks from her glass as needed. She glances up as Sarah gets close to her, blinking and giving her a second look as she walks towards the arcade area. She stands out a bit herself, with that pale skin and the big green lightning bolt tattooed acxross her right eye.

Sarah Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah Rainmaker would glance over at Carin as th girl would come in. And blink over. Then shrug. "Ah, hello there." She would give a wave in passing to the blue girl. "You look interesting." She would add after a moment for all the explanation she might give for her random approach.

Carin Taylor has posed:
Well. Interesting is more polite than she's got from many people really. Carin raises a brow. "Uh, thanks. I think?" She finishes the pizza slice she's working on, tilting her head as she says. "Haven't seen man y people like you around either."

Sarah Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah Rainmaker would laugh, "Thank you?" She would inquire. "Nothing particularly impressive about myself." Well, nto that she would be openly talking about, at least.

Carin Taylor has posed:
Carin snorts at that. "Uh, y'know, other than looking like you stepped off a magazine cover or something." the petite speedster notes. "Southwestern Girls or somethin' like that. Or Texas girls. Oklahoma girls?" She shrugs her shoulders, taking a sip from her drink. "You just look, I dunno...you stand out?"

Sarah Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah Rainmaker would pff, "I'm nothing particularly interesting. Having gone through Metropolis on my way here I think I'm rather ordinary. Not htat I mind the attention to my ego and making an impression. Thank you."

Carin Taylor has posed:
"Well, if you say so. I mean, I think you stand out more than most? And you don't look, like, weird or nothin', an' ya know how to dress, so....yeah." Unlike Carin who looks like she pretty much got her clothes out of a thrift shop. Because she did." Carin points out, snagging another piece of pizza to take a big bite out of.

Sarah Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah Rainmaker would cross her arms and smile a little, "Thank you. As does my ego. I do happen to think the same.. But I really don't think I'm special." At least given her life experience of encountering others from along the lines of those meta-genetically gifted

Carin Taylor has posed:
"Well, I guess it's up to you how ya feel about it." Carin admits, a bit muffledly as she talks with her mouth full, then swallows after a moment. "You like arcades?" she says, nodding towards the old school machines.

Sarah Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah Rainmaker would smiel, "I never had much of a chance. There weren't really any where I grew up so it was a.. Before my time. I had some friends very intot he games. so I enjoyed seeing them so enthusiastic."

Carin Taylor has posed:
"I like the old school stuff, the beat 'em ups like Streets of Rage or that sorta thing. Turtles in Time. This place is kinda nice for that, most places, they just got the new fancy machines that are like VR or whatever, this place just has the old school games." Carin says.

Sarah Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah Rainmaker would look confused over at 'beat 'em up' in an indication she had no idea what that genre was. "Well, then perhaps you could show me sometime. If you're not in a rush anywhere after p pizza?"

Carin Taylor has posed:
Carin grabs a handful of napkin from the convenient holder on the table, wiping her fingers off, then hops out of the chair. "Sure, if ya want?" She doesn't have to worry about anyone running off with the rest of her pizza since she can see it from the games, after all. "Mmmm, let's see.....oh! Like this, Golden Axe..." She walks up to a machine that has muscular conanesque warriors and female valkyries on it, digging into a pocket to pull out a quarter to slide into the ready slot and hit the player 1 button.

Sarah Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah Rainmaker would glance over, "Something with vegetables and.." She would just shrug, and go over to jog and look over at the screen and squint her eyes. "None of the characters have any sort of golden axe." Though the dwarf seems to have an axe from what she can tell of the sprites.

Carin Taylor has posed:
"I think it's, like, the bad guy's axe, Death Adder. Something like that. The dwarf has an axe too though..." she says curiously, starting to run her valkyrie in red through the game, slashing out at orcs and barbarians as they show up to menace her.

Sarah Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah Rainmaker would squint, "Death Adder? I take it that the naming schemes for this game were.. Not particularly well developed? Is he a snake of some sort? Or does he have a snake motif at all?"

Carin Taylor has posed:
"They're totally fantasy, y'know? Tyris Flare is this character's name, cuz she's got fire magic. Ya get it with these potions then ya can do more and more powerful magica attacks the more ya got built up. Up to a dragon flyby if ya got the bar all filled." Carin explains, grabbing hold of an opponent and tossing them into another.

Sarah Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah Rainmaker would nod, "That makes sense." Of course having a name related to your powers was completely logical. She was the one that had weather powers and had the last name of 'Rainmaker'. Somehwere out there in the world was a rich man named 'Lotterywinnah'.
"That seems to be moderately involved mechanics."

Carin Taylor has posed:
"Well, kinda I guess. These games don't got a lotta moves ya gotta memorize, it's pretty made to be a quarter eater, so if ya die you can continue if you feed the machine more quarters, that sorta thing." She taps the magic button,s ending swirls of fire across the screen that knock all the nromal sized enemies down, then a huge guy with a hammer wanders out she has to fight.

Sarah Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah Rainmaker would nod, "Ah. That explains why they only cost a quarter to play. I prseume that they're designed to take a few dollars to beat or until one runs out of change?" Her making over that presumption and goes to watch.

Carin Taylor has posed:
"Yeah, the modern ones? It's like a DOLLAR per play now. An' usually it's really ya gotta buy tokens instead of quarters, so ya gotta spend th emoney and then you can only use 'em to play games at that place." she admits, wincing as her character is knocked sprawling as she taps rapidly to get her back up. "Lotsa games ar elike that though."

Sarah Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah Rainmaker would go to put in some coins then to select Tyris Flare, "Understandable." That made total sense to her. She would go to start playing along with it. Then almost immedaitely find the effective combo that was Tyris' forward jump kick.

Carin Taylor has posed:
Carin loses just before Sarah does, then lets her take over her character, switching over to the dwarf instead as she starts beating down the mounted baddie who got her. "Yeah, that's it! That's a good move."

Sarah Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah Rainmaker is merely repeating the same sort of maneuver again and again. "It is as you said rather simple. How long is this game generally might you say?" She's getting a distinct impresion now as to why it's just a quarter as she continues to do jump kick, attack, dash, jump kick.

Carin Taylor has posed:
"Well, there's like, five or six levels? You fight a tough monster at the end of each stage, then at the very end ya gotta fight Deathadder and beat him." Carin explains, rushing aorund and slashing at baddies with her axe.

Sarah Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah Rainmaker would murmur, "Just like life." As she would go over towards Carin's character on the screen to try and clear the other end.

Carin Taylor has posed:
"Well, if yer life is a like a beat'em up game, anyway." Carin says, as the final boss, a red giant, comes out to attack, looking tougher than the original blue ones. Carin immediately uses lightning magic to zap him and clear the few minor enemies left on the screen. She's got really good reflexes, she seems to almost always start moving her character right before she's hit.

Sarah Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah Rainmaker would nod, "I certainly hope not. But, a variety of ongoing adversaries that seem to for whatever reason increase in threat and power an tdhat require more attention, and more importnatly more money to handle until you reach the end and face litlte more than a few seconds of bright, flashing lights and then you go through again."

Carin Taylor has posed:
"I guess if ya believe in that reincarnation stuff. I dunno about it bein' th' some way, i think sometimes yer fighting the end boss right off the bat in real life." Carin muses.

Sarah Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah Rainmaker would shrug, "Then what is life sometimes then but a series of repetitions and recreations of events, past and present? How many patterns are there that seem to come again and again?"

Carin Taylor has posed:
"...um....well, that's kinda deep. I dunno. I mean, things aren't always like tv shows or somethin'. Real life is a lot more creative than Hollywood." Carin says, then tsks as she's killed by the boss and has to put in another quarter to continue.

Sarah Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah Rainmaker would sigh, "Yes. And look at the last year of our lives. Aliens, whatever.. I think they were angels? Some sort of nonsense. I feel like we've moved well beyond the creativity that entertainment media could come up with."

Carin Taylor has posed:
Carin shakes her head. "I was the heck out of town for that. Too weird for me. I only heard about it on th' news an' stuff." she admits, as the first boss goes down and it changes to the next stage.

Sarah Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah Rainmaker would shake her head over as the two would go along, "Yes, I saws part of it. It seems to be the norm for the world these days."
