Date of Scene: 16 April 2022
Location: Midtown - Founders Island
Synopsis: Ben and Phoebe catch up to have a brief discussion of where they go from here ...
Cast of Characters: Ben Reilly, Phoebe Beacon

Ben Reilly has posed:
Ben, in Scarlet Spider garb, sits atop one of the tapered, tiled rooftops of Founders Island. His knees are brought up to his chest, both arms wrapped around them as he looks out over the grimy lights and the rarest of occassions where Gotham is beautiful to behold. A pair of cheap, in-ear headphones have been fed up beneath his mask and he occasionally glances down at the cracked screen of his phone. Some local Gotham artists, singing about how home is home and that's just that.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Phoebe, meanwhile, steps off the metroline stop, after coming via the hyperloop. She was tired. And bruised. Her healing powers were a little bit slow, and she was still sporting a split lip as she raised her phone up -- screen still cracked, lockscreen showing a very silly selfie with Tim, Yap, and Idu, and she types in a message.

Sent to: BEN R "Hey. wyd rn? Patrol?"

Ben Reilly has posed:
Ben glances down as his phone chimes, flicking his thumb over the display until he reaches his messages. The glow illuminates his mask for a second before he taps in a response.

'Sorta. 51st & Grand.'

And then he goes right back to staring out at the cityscape.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Phoebe gives a smile, and she brings her hood up as she looks up to the sky -- no birds, no planes... no bats.

So she breathes out, and focuses herself, thinking about Ben --

And a few moments later, there's the wuush of wings, and the soft tap of someone landing behind him.

She slowly sinks down beside the Scarlet Spider, and she breathes out, looking over the city.

"Penny for your thoughts?" she asks, turning and looking over to him. There's a subtle glow under her boots -- she's using one of her shields to not slip down.

Ben Reilly has posed:
"You know, girls always like to ask guys what we're thinking," Ben muses, turning to smile at her through the mask - not obvious to the casual observer, but she knows him well enough that she could surely tell just to look at him - before continuing, "But sometimes we're not thinking anything. Our brains are just on hold, like the mental version of a screensaver."

He peels the mask up, revealing the bottom half of his face before leaning in to kiss her lightly on the corner of her mouth.

"You look like you've been through the wringer. Magic crap again?"

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Nah, I get it. Sometimes my brain makes like, microwave sounds. Whrrrrrrrrrr-- ding! And sometimes you think 'oh neat, an idea!' but it's just like 'man, I could use some mac and cheese'." Phoebe replies with a smile. She knew his voice well enough by now to catch the smile in it, her head tilting lightly so he can kiss at the corner of her mouth. She allows this -- and then she leans her head against his shoulder.

"It's over. No more angels. No more astral trips. It's done. Finito." she replies. "And... I gave up on Sandalphon's gift, so I'm like... this realy huge mess of conflicting emotions and self-doubt. You sure you want a magic girlfriend? We're Hella complicated."

Ben Reilly has posed:
"Can't be more complicated than a spider boyfriend," Ben answers with a shrug of his shoulders, patting her lightly on the back and embracing her in a single-armed hug, "We'll get by. Besides, it's over now. We can focus on being friendly and neighborhood, y'know?"

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Wanna bet?" Phoebe offers a rueful smile, and leans into his embrace, dropping the shield at her feet and trusting his sticky-feet and his hold on her.

"Friendly and neighborhood. I like the sound of that. Work on a microcosm instead of The Macrocosmos." Phoebe replies quietly.

"... and maybe give this dating thing an actual try."
