Date of Scene: 21 April 2022
Location: 6C - Matt Murdock
Synopsis: Daisy returns from the Moon, while Jessica comes by to speak of meeting the son of the devil. A bit more exciting than Matt going through his old things.
Cast of Characters: Matthew Murdock, Daisy Johnson, Jessica Jones

Matthew Murdock has posed:
The box had sat in the back of a closet since Matt had moved into the apartment. Chance had brought it back to his attention today, rummaging in the closet looking for something else when he'd touched the old wooden box.

Leaving behind his pursuit for his old favorite collar sweatshirt which had gotten lost at some point, Matt picks up the box and carries it out to the living area. He takes a seat on the couch and sets it on the coffee table, then opens it up.

The scents of the contents inside, held enclosed by the box, are like a trip down Memory Lane. Matt reaches inside, pulling out an old headband. Just a scrap of cloth to anyone else. Matt brings it nearer to his nose, drawing a slow, deeper breath that helps those memories focus in his mind's eye.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Life was like a rollercoaster for Daisy these days. Which is pretty much standard fare where it comes to being an Agent of SHIELD. The latest? Being on the moon. Which meant being away for a while but now she was back, and finally going back home.

It felt good thinking about that word. Home. It was what Matt's place had become these last couple of years and so it was with a smile that she went up the last steps to the top floor on the apartment building..

The door opens up and Daisy walks in, "Honey I am home.." then a pause, "Ufff, that sounds so corny when I say it out loud.." she sighs, dropping the bag with her uniform on the floor and wandering further into the place. The first sliding past her legs? Boxer, of course. She picks him up. "Well, hello there, cat. Is the master of the house around today?" she asks him before her search continues.

Oh, she pretty much knows he is home, she can feel the vibrations from further inside.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt is sitting there on the couch with that upright posture of his, that never seems to settle into a slouch even when it's just him. His head turns just the slightest bit at the pronouncement from Daisy. Though his lips pull back into the start of a smile.

"Funny," his somewhat deep voice responds loudly enough to carr. "I was just thinking how wonderful it sounded. Not corny at all," he tells her, the smile growing the rest of the way.

Matt replaces the headband onto the top of the box's contents and rises to walk over to where Daisy is. "You smell like you have some new stories to tell," he comments to her as he goes to meet her halfway. A hand goes to the curve of Daisy's hip, and a soft kiss is nuzzled to her temple. "Home for awhile, or just popping in for a change?" he asks.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"You only say that because you are the corniest of them all.." Daisy says in jest back at Matt, going around the couch to approach the man, her scent now fully noticeable along with the touch of fingertips on his shoulder. A very light touch, she knows how sensitive he can be.

"I am not sure if this is you saying I need a shower or...?" The grin is fully 'visible' on her voice, "Because if it is, well, maybe you are in luck today..." she adds in that teasing manner of hers, hand reaching down his shoulder and arm to squeeze the hand that has rested against her hip.

"Home." Is the answer, "Staying the last few weeks. One hopes.." she lets out a sigh. "Never know with SHIELD..." she places a kiss on the man's chin and then looks at the headband, "What were you up to?" she asks curiously.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt's smile quirks just a bit at whether he was implying the need of a shower for her. "If I wasn't, I definitely wouldn't say so, now," he tells her. As her lips brush the stubble on his chin, he smiles and briefly nuzzles his face against her hair.

Matt keeps his hand there on Daisy, letting it drift to the small of her back as she takes note of the box he had open. "Oh, just found some old things in the closet," he comments. "A few old memories," Matt shares, his tone sounding only partially nostalgic. But there's also a tone that hints some of those memories may have been of tougher times.

"Want something to drink?" he asks her. "Boxer's been missing you. Only having one person to headbutt for scruffles has taken its tole on the poor guy," he comments.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"I will just go get some water. Too early to start drinking..." So responsible! Daisy's eyes now more focused on the small box. She smirks at something she sees in there, "Oh, look at that. My beanie hat.." she tells him, ".. and here I was wondering all these years where it had gone to."

The beanie hat she had forgotten at Matt's place when they had again met all those years back. A lot had happened since then, and much had changed too.

"You never told me much about your past." She then points out, resting her head to his shoulder, "Memories are often better shared with two. If you need someone to listen you know I am here." she offers, making her way to the sofa to settle down.

Boxer immediately jumps up and onto her lap, "Because he knows I always put a little extra food on his plate.." she grins, "That's how I gain their love. Bribing them through food." and she does that with people too, considering how much takeout she brings to her friends!

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt takes his seat on the sofa again, beside Daisy. He reaches over to swing her legs up to rest in his lap as he removes her shoes. A foot massage is about to commence, apparently.

"Well," Matt says slowly, as if focusing his thoughts back on the items in the box. "There's an old head band here from when I was a kid," he says, reaching over to pull it out of the box. It is a little discolored by the years. A loose headband that has to be tied, not the elastic variety.

"I know you know I learned a bit about fighting from my father. Boxing especially," Matt says quietly. "But don't think I ever mentioned much detail about where I learned to fight beyond that, did I?" he asks. "There was a man who showed up one day. After the accident that took my sight," Matt tells Daisy. "He was blind as well. Though he had turned it into a strength. At least when it came to fighting. In other ways, he was extremely blind," Matt says, with a slightly harder tone of voice at the end.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"That's very karate kid of you." Daisy says of the headband with a soft grin, clearly not minding the foot massage that is about to happen as she leans back on the couch to relax, eyes fully on Matt now as he seems ready to reveal more of his past to her. Which a lot of was still a mystery. "Just be glad you never walked around with that headband at the orphanage. I might had made a few jokes.." she points out.

As Matt then starts talking about the past she sobers up some, expression more serious. A Nod is given about his father. She had been at the old ring.

"Extremely blind?" She then asks, head canting to the side. "You mean without similar powers to yours?" she relaxes more on the couch as the shoes come out.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt Murdock's hands focus on Daisy's feet. Massaging her arch and the pad of her foot, strong hands rubbing deeply as they talk. "His other senses are not on par with mine, no. Though very well developed for a person, probably beyond what most of us would think possible. Enough so that he was able to help me be able to focus mine, and tune out things. Which I needed, desperately," Matt shares.

His lips curl in a small grin, though it's not really a warm one as he answers her question more fully. "No, extremely blind about other things. Like dealing with other people. Things like... when you are teacher to a boy, a second father-figure really, and that boy's father is killed? Not leaving him to go into the foster system," Matt says. His tone rarely changes to a large degree, yet it's easy for Daisy to sense the hurt and wry emotions.

"I haven't thought about him in awhile. Though without his teaching I wouldn't be what, and who, I am today. Even the parts that hurt then, I like to think maybe me better as a person today."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Ah, that.." Daisy's expression turns into a grim smile. Yes, she knew well what was to be left to the foster system to handle, even if she had eventually come to terms with it, "On the bright side? You got to meet me so...." she lifts her foot a bit to poke him in the chest with her toe before relaxing again, "He sounds like an handful, that old sensei of yours." a beat, "How long since you saw him last?" she then asks.

Boxer has finally had it and just like a cat jumps back down to the ground to go find something else to entertain him. As cats do. Maybe to hunt a rat to offer as a gift to the returning Daisy.

"But if I had to comment, I would say you were the one that made yourself better. You are just as stubborn and wilfull as I am."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
The toe poke and the comment turn up the corners of Matt's mouth into a smile. "I definitely got the better end of it," he confirms as he regathers her foot she poked with and works the muscles of her feet with his firm grip.

"It's been quite awhile. He popped up again once or twice. Bit of a storm crow, showing up when there is trouble. Or the cause of it," he says, deep voice hinting at more emotions there.

"I'm willing to concede you're the more stubborn of us too," Matt says, grin quirking with the hidden jab. "I'm just glad you're home though. I've missed you. And worried about you. This trip anything you can talk about? Or would you have to kill me after?"

Jessica Jones has posed:
While it hasn't happened in a while, should Matt be home, he likely can recognize the distinct sound of heavy foot fall approaching his door followed by a not quite delicate knock, "you in there Murdock?" Comes Jessica unmistakable voice, ever a demanding undertone, as if already complaining she wasn't invited in already.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt's head shifts just slightly as the footsteps approach his door. "Jessica," he says, if Daisy had any doubt left on hearing her voice through the door. He pats Daisy and then rises and heads over to the door.

He is about to make a comment through the door about whether Jessica brought whiskey as an offering, but realizing he's not sure what the state of her drinking is, he leaves the comment be and just opens the door instead. "Jessica. Always happy to have you come by. Come in. Was just catching up with Daisy. She just got home from a trip," he tells her, moving to the side to let the private investigator into the apartment.

A cat comes over to where it can see the door, young though passing out of his kitten days. Checking out who it is, he scampers back off deeper into the apartment. "That's Boxer," Matt says.

Jessica Jones has posed:
Jessica walks in and looks like she's about to just shoot into a conversation, when the mention of Daisy stops her in her track, and she puts up one of her winning fake smiles that could easily win her a cheerleading tryout, "oh wow, wonderful! Welcome back Daisy, were you away for travel?" She asks without the slightest of interest in any reply that may or may not come. Eyes shift to trace the cat, and Jess snorts, "Boxer? Isn't that more a dog's name?" She asks, before giving a light jab to Matt's shoulder, "I kid, I kid, I know boxing matters to you more than most."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"It's still early." Daisy points out. Which might mean Jessica is actually sober! But it's always a toss up. Daisy slides her feet down from the couch and gets up to her feet with a stretch, "Hello Jessica." she tells the other woman once Matt goes over to open the door before smirking, "Well, you sound lively today." then to Matt she tells him, "I am going to take a shower. Try not to break the house while I am gone, mmm?"

And with that she walks over to go start tending to washing up after her trip.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt scoops up the young cat as he is trotting past, holding him with an arm so Matt can take a paw in each hand and make the cat seem to shadow box. "Yes yes, dog breed, but the name fits. Especially as a kitten he liked to bat at our fingers when we'd poke at him," he says.

He sets the cat back down, who decides against going over to rub against Jessica. Maybe she doesn't give the cat-lover vibe, or maybe he just needs more time to warm to visitors. It isn't like Matt does a lot of social hosting, after all.

Matt turns his head back towards Daisy to nod her direction. "Alright," he says with a wistful note. Opportunity lost. Though once she's gone into the other room, Matt turns back to Jessica. "Have a seat," he says. "She's probably going to be awhile," he says. Which could definitely be taken as an opening for Jessica to address anything she might like, without him actually bringing it up overtly.

Jessica Jones has posed:
"Is that so...?" Jessica actually finds it amusing as she walks up to Matt and presents a finger to the cat to see if he'll poke at it, hoping he won't just bite instead. "Was nice seeing you again, Daisy, enjoy the shower...I should probably get one at some point," self deprecating humor, always good to ease tensions.

Heading over to sit down at Matt's invitation, Jessica notes flatly, "so...remember that time I talked to you about a demon outside my fire escape? Well, I've had a visitor recently to my office..." she waits a moment to let it settle, before she outright mutters, "the fucking son of the fucking devil..." she looks intently to see Matt's reaction.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt takes a seat again. There's an old wooden box sitting on the coffee table with nothing too exciting in it. There's an old headband, the kind you tie not the elastic sort, sitting on top. Matt closes the box up and moves it over to the floor beside the sofa, out of the way. "Well," he says thoughtfully at the news from Jessica.

"I'm starting to think maybe you need a new apartment. The building isn't named Sunnydale Apartments is it? Don't have anyone named Buffy, Willow and Xander moving in as neighbors?" he inquires in that voice that rarely gives over tonal clues when he's kidding.

"And what happened?" he asks, more seriously.

Jessica Jones has posed:
"That box has anything to do with Elektra and her clan of karate magics?" Jessica asks with not a well hidden note of derision, or was it disdain? Though she is quick to distract back to her own news as she laughs at Matt's take, "yeah, not that I'm aware, and I'm a PI I would have noticed...weirdest thing was he wasn't after my soul or anything, well, not according to him."

Her hand flinches, and she asks, "you got any whiskey in the house?" Leaning back and sighing, "he could have obviously lied, but he insisted he only wanted my help in some investigations and wanted to see if he could call upon me for help. I swear someone better be pranking me."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
One corner of Matt's mouth quirks in a wry grin. "Not really he says." Which is mostly true, though in some small way it could be said to tangentially connect to the Greek woman. "Just some old things of mine I stumbled across in a closet," he tells Jessica.

Matt rises and heads over to the kitchen in reply to Jessica's question about whiskey. "So can he? Call on you for help?" Matt asks, his back to Jessica as he gets a bottle from a cupboard, and pours a single finger into a rock glass. He replaces the bottle rather than bringing it over with the glass then as he return and offers it to her.

Jessica Jones has posed:
"I doubt that," Jessica notes, but doesn't press it any futher. "Well, he's the son of the freakin' devil, I didn't want to test him, I said I will offer help if I can, and that was that...on the bright side, he said my soul is worth more than I think."

"You're a gem, Matt," Jessica says as she snatches the offered drink and hurries to get some whiskey in her system.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
"Well, I think I can agree with him on that last point," Matt says supportively. "But glad to see you're showing appropriate caution. I have to say, maybe there was something to be said for the days when these things were all a matter of faith," he says of being confronted with angels and demons.

He gives a tiny shrug about the comment about him being a gem. "If so probably a rough cut, unpolished one," he tells her, a hand going to rub at his stubble, which got a bit longer than usual with Daisy gone. "Sorry I have been out of touch a bit lately. There have been some things in Hell's Kitchen taking my time. I need to check in with the others and see how everyone is doing."
