We Need a Mullet...
Date of Scene: 22 April 2022
Location: Times Square
Synopsis: A series of weapons exhibits in Times Square are treated as a rummage sale by Red She-Hulk. Introducing the heroic Mullet of Guy Gardner!
Cast of Characters: Emma Frost, Betty Ross, Guy Gardner

Emma Frost has posed:
In Times Square, some level of exhibitions are going on. A variety of military technological outfits are putting on some displays for the public. This means tourists wandering in and out, overwhelmed staff who hate having to engage with the general public, and a large amount of equipment put out on display from the various companies that has been pulled out almost at random without paying too much attention to it.

Betty Ross has posed:
Red She Hulk is not normally the type to behave like your standard supervillain. She doesn't really consider herself one, for example. But on the other, she does have a need for equipment to carry out her current goals, and a lack of funds to legitimately buy them, if they were even available for technically civilians to own. She's not super well known as someone who's wanted either though, and there are a few unusual types wandering among the displays...though a seven foot amazon woman in black with red skin does sort of stand out.

Guy Gardner has posed:
"Finally, I can catch a break..." Guy thinks to himself as he pinches his the bridge of his nose. He had just come back from a mission about 47 light-years away from Earth, and now he's taking a well-earned break to one of his favorite restaurants near Times Square. As he's walking through, the advanced military technology catches his eye, prompting him to raise an eyebrow. "Hello, what do we have over here?" He thinks to himself again, approaching the various vendors and their displays.

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost is there, wearing more of a conservative business suit than she's normally wont to do. This means taht she has a time to check out some of the competition when they're rather occupied.. And while their personnel on hand are distracted and she can get for information. There's a few that are showing off new munitions, new rockets (or at least models of them). And for Betty's possible interest, one that's showing off a new rocket fist.

Betty Ross has posed:
A rocket fist IS unusual enough that it draws Betty's attention as she pauses by the display. Of course, she can probably put a lot more strength into a hit by wearing said fist, but material that can take an impact like that is probably pretty tough. There's also a gyrojet rifle that suspiciously resembles a licensed marine outside of a planet type weapon that's intended to be crew served, but actually might be comfortable enough to use as a rifle...if one were strong enough, of course. And a sample of a new alloy intended to be used for military vehicle frames that's been formed into a fantasy style blade for fun to demonstrate its durability, as a way to catch the eye of passerbys to the booth.

Guy Gardner has posed:
Guy's eyes scan back and forth between the different weapons. Many advanced and dangerous weapons are out on display. "These guys are askin' to get their weapons stolen leavin' them out like this..." Guy thinks, his face scrunches a bit. He looks up and his face drops slightly at the sight of someone who sticks out like a sore thumb: Red She-Hulk. "Aaaaaaand there's the first person to keep an eye on..." Guy quickly looks away before the towering woman can catch sight of him.

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost takes a moment to glance over at Red She-Hulk. That's not a figure she recognizes. Perhaps with the Avengers? She seems to be looking about at things, so Emma doesn't pay her much attention. Just another vigilante in a city filled over with them by the hundreds.
REd She-Hulk is able to see so many toys here. Even if not present, then definitely places she can no doubt hit and smash later to procure.

Betty Ross has posed:
The most difficult would be the gyrojet really..it's neat but requires specific ammo that she'd have to find someone to make for her to reload it. But perhaps in the short term...though it's the sword she goes for first. "So, how heavy is this?" she says idly, stepping past the display table and reaching out to just pick up the blade...breaking the brackets holding it in place as she does as the salespeople blink. "Um, wait ma'am, you can't pick that...up?!?" As she does precisely that, hefting it idly. "Balance isn't great...." she mutters.

Guy Gardner has posed:
As he's looking over a peculiar particle accelerator-type gun, his attention is diverted to one of the vendors shouting. He spins in the direction of the voice and sees Red She-Hulk holding the sword. "Dammit, sometimes I hate being right..." Guy's hand hovers over one of his pockets that's housing his ring, preparing to reach into the pocket and slip the ring on his finger if things escalate.

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would take a moent to glance over at Red She-Hulk. So much for someone looking about interestingly. Emma Frost would tense. The crowd is milling about, having not quite taken notice of anything amiss. The other booths are glancing over, personnel starting to look in confusion. A few booth babes are glancing the way of things.

Betty Ross has posed:
Rulkie hefts the blade, glancing over to a neighboring table where a lesser metal was placed to demonstrate the different in durability, then raises the sword and brings it down, a sharp *SHING* of metal giving coming as it passes through the other ingot and the table underneath into the ground as it gouges into the ground. "Huh. You sharpened it though. " she says. "Sorry, but I think I need this." She steps to the neighboring rocket fist table and picks it up. "This too. Hope you're insured." she mutters, sliding it over a hand, then heading towards the gyrojet display as people start to scatter.

Guy Gardner has posed:
"And there we go. Can't catch a break in space," He pulls the ring out of his pocket and places it on his finger. "Can't catch a break on Earth." His suit envelops his civilian clothing with a green aura surrounding his entire body. He immediately flies over the crowd and towards the giant woman.

"Hey, missy!" he shouts. "Let's put the sword and the...big fist thingy back where you found 'em before anyone gets hurt."

Emma Frost has posed:
People are scattering wildly now as they see there's an actual threat going on. Emma Frost is narrowing her eyes. Wonderful. And her own telepathic abilities, a close held secret, won't be extremely useful against whatever Red She-Hulk is, since Hulks have always displayed such resistance to telepathy even if she were to use it. Fortunately there's someone who should be able to handle it on the scene. Emma herself takes note of where Red She-Hulk is going, and is starting to move towards the gyrojet as well.

Betty Ross has posed:
Well, that was fast. Then again, considering it's New York, she shouldn't be suprised that there's a metahuman here, or whatever he is. Really a 50/50 chance of it being a hero or a supervillain, but seems like the former.

Which is good. They're less likely to hurt bystanders and be more concerned about holding back in a crowd. Better chance of her being able to break contact. But...

MAN it's annoying, she can't help but think, snorting as she raises the rocket fist hand. "Catch." With a roar it ignites, shooting towards Guy as she breaks into a jog towards the gyrojet table!

Guy Gardner has posed:
Guy's eyes widen as the rocket fist launches towards him. He quickly puts up a baseball glove-shaped construct to catch the fist. Thankfully, he's able to catch it fairly easy. He gets into a baseball pitcher's pose and prepares to throw the fist like a baseball. Thankfully, everyone's scattered quite a distance away from her. "How about YOU catch?" He flings the still ignited back at Rulkie.

Emma Frost has posed:
Lovely. Now they're going at it in the midst of civilians that are fleeing the area. This is still extremely crowded and tight. Emma Frost slowly makes her way through the crowd, and attempts something simpler as far as telepathy tricks go. Attempting to veil herself from sight and senses. If someone were to look in her direction, it would hopefully just have her 'nudging' them to not notice her or pay attention to her.

Betty Ross has posed:
"Tch." Rulkie turns as she sees the fist coming back at her, then wielding the sword like it was made of cardboard rather than superheavy alloy, swings it overhand, aiming the flat at the oncoming fist. Admittedly, much more like it was a cricket bat than with a lot of skill, but strength is its own quality! The blade smashes the fist out of the air and into the ground, shattering it as the engines explode, temporarily obscuring Red She Hulk in a cloud of smoke and flame, before she bursts out, reaching the gyrojet display and reaching out to pick up the rifle. Difficult to do much with it with her other hand already holding the sword of course....it was more an impulse grab as she's brought up short by the logistics of having to juggle both, and the ammo for the rifle in question. "...dammit."

Emma Frost has posed:
Lovely. That thing has noticed her. Emma can only scramble along, hoping that for now she can mostly keep to herself and look like just another civilian. She's in o place to put up a fight now and even if she were to use her powers fully they might not do anything. So she's just left seeing Red She-Hulk try and perform a juggling act.

Betty Ross has posed:
With a faint grunt, the point of the sword dips before Rulkie casually jabs it a foot or so into the ground, before reaching for the gyrorocket clip for the gun, sliding it into place, then pulling back the bolt to load it. "So square..." she says, frowing at the blocky build of it. But then, it IS a prototype, most likely. She snags one of the swag bags the booth is giving out then scoops the remaining clips into it, zipping it up and sliding it over her shoulder, trying to keep the smoke between herself and the flying man. A...Green Lantern, was it? She's not sure which that is, there seem to be a LOT. But at least he seems to be the only one wanting to jump in here.

She's...honestly relieved a bit. A big fight might have hurt people, and she's not really interested in that. Just getting what she wants and getting out. Thought he way the crowd is scattering, it seems the area is opening up in that regard.

Emma Frost has posed:
For now, avoiding a fight with civilians are about in large numbers and a public area is for the best. Times Square can be cramped and the throngs around make for a chaotic melee if things escalate. So Emma can only glance over and look at it. Then finally go over to approach over and note, idly. "Those things will fail. They look like someone was subcontracting from Hammer Technologies to make it." Finally breaking her silence and coming out from where she had been semingly cowering.

Betty Ross has posed:
Red She Hulk glances over to Emma, raising a brow. "Explains the crappy aesthetics. But I'm sure I can get someone to upgrade it." She rests the rifle idly on her shoulder, holding onto it by the grip. "Shouldn't you be running?" she says, reaching over with her other hand to take hold of the blade's grip and pulling it free. "Don't really have time for a long chat, either way..."

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would go to cross her arms, "Where? And get trampled by eveyrone? And do you really want to potentially bother with something like that? A woman of your stature should have something dignified instead of something that looks like ti's a spring loaded thing that fires swords."

Betty Ross has posed:
There's a faint snort from Rulkie. "Stature. Good double meaning." she grunts, idly shifting her grip on the sword. "You take what you can get sometimes for what you need to do." She shrugs. "And I've got things I need to do that can't wait."

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would cross her arms, "And what might those be? You do seem to not exactly be in a hurry if you've got the time for some public expo like this." S he would gesture along. "I could hardly call it prime hunting grounds."

Betty Ross has posed:
Rulkie shrugs. "Heh, not really any of your business, but a few things I have to make sure are destroyed before someone gets hold of them." She doesn't really care if she knows. But getting to those things before SHIELD locks them in a secure facility somewhere would be preferable. She doesn't REALLY want to get in a fight with SHIELD...but it won't stop her if she has to either. "As for here, this is quick, and fast, and that's what's needed."

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would glance over, "I suppose that's one way to put it. Public is another. But you seem more like the type that doesn't particularly mind it. I might suggest while you're at it you might watn to find a tailor. Grungy, torn up clothes going about is so eighties. You look like someone that's ane xtra on a Mel Gibson movie."

Betty Ross has posed:
Red She Hulk raises a brow, looking down at herself. "Not exactly gear I can trust to a dry cleaner." she says dryly. "First things first though." She doesn't sound like she overly cares at the moment, though while dirty, what she's wearing seems remarkably well intact for the fighting she's been through.

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would glance at Red She-Hulk up and down, "I suppose. And do you have a name? I don't want to make preusmptions but you haven't given me anything in particular to call you after all."

Betty Ross has posed:
"Oh? Heh." The red-skinned amazon smirks. "I guess you could call me Red She Hulk. Fits. No reason to make it complicated." She glances around, having lost sight of Guy in the chaos, but still a bit wary of him as she pauses to pick up a dropped clip of gyrorockets to tuck into her bag. "You're awfully brave to be having a chat with someone like me, by the way. Not a superheroine in disguise or something, are you?"

Emma Frost has posed:
That would have an evaluatory look from Emma Frost over at Red She-Hulk, "How original. And no, I'm not. I just don't particularly fancy my chances runninga way with the rest of the crowd. You seem quite reasonable so far to make conversation with and a parley seems acceptable."

Betty Ross has posed:
Another shrug. "You're not trying to block me or attack me, I don't have any reason to attack you or hurt you." Rulkie frowns. "Can't say that the other guy feels the same way towards me, but looks like I lost him for a bit..."

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would shrug, "His priority will be ensuring that the civilians are safe. I would much rather not have to be saved by a man that has taken Moe Howard as his patron."

Betty Ross has posed:
That pulls another amused snort from Rulkie. "Heh, maybe. But his buddies are likely the sorts interested in keeping me from leaving with these. You don't seem like the sort to be shopping weapons at a place like this though."

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would shrug, "Oh, a number of.. My competitors have setup shop here. I do find that it's good to keep an eye on what sorts of things they're displaying to the public. And you get a far better idea fromw hat they offer over in person than merely sending an employee."

Betty Ross has posed:
"Hmm? So you're what, a business type that's part of one of these companies?" Rulkie picks up a heavy canvas strap, then winds it around the rifle as she jabs the sword back in the ground, making a makeshift carrying strap as she slings it through her opposite shoulder from the bag holding its clips. "Well, if these are part of yours, I'm sure you're insured."

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would shake her head, "I run one, yes." Being careful with her words, "And I must say, personally I do find this particular scenario rather hilarious. At least for the stock of some of those I compete with."

Betty Ross has posed:
"They've got the plans for whatever they've built, they can always build another prototype. And soaks the government for even more development money in the process." Rulkie says, cynicism heavy in her voice. "Military industrial complex and all that."

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would mm, "Of course. Speaking as part of the industrial part of it, it's made for very steady business throughout the decades. I can't say that I mind so much. So much development and processing.. And so healthy a profit margin. I can appreciate that capitalism involved."

Betty Ross has posed:
"And the greed and deliberate cost overruns. And pork for whatever senator puts pressure to pay for a particular factory in their district to make it." Rulkie she says, slightly disapprovingly. "But, it is what it is. And why I'm not going to feel particularly bad with making off with a few things here."

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would mm, "You seem to be quite familiar over with it." Her not reading Red She-Hulk's mind, but getting impressions from the other woman's expressions. "You with the military then? Intelligence? Special forces?"

Betty Ross has posed:
"No comment." Rulkie says with a smirk. Which might answer in and of itself. She starts walking over to a neighboring table, glancing around for anything else she can make off with that might be handy. Intrusion fiberoptic camera for peering under doors or through cracks? Yes please. Added to her slightly stuffed swag bag.

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost can keep track of what Red She-Hulk is taking, take the measure of the large woman, and also if anyone asks claim that she was making sure that the big woman was distracted enough for the civilians to escape.. And enjoying the hit that her competitor's stocks would take. "And what in particular are you after? You seem to have something rather specific in mind for all your surveying."

Betty Ross has posed:
Rulkie mms, raising a brow at all the questions, then shrugs. It's not like she's been able to articulate her thoughts to someone before since she set herself on this course. "Some information that people will use if they get hold of it, despite all the problems and destruction it'll cause. Because these people keep grabbing for this sort of data, thinking about how powerful it'll make them and their country, without considering the havoc involved." she says, a bit evasively. "The sort of data that makes someone like me."

Guy Gardner has posed:
"I...dammit Hal, this it NOT time time to be contacting me...I don't care if they are, I'm BUSY here..." Guy's been dealing with trying to get off the ring's communicator since he suddenly received a call from Hal Jordan as Emma Frost initially approached Red She-Hulk. "Look, I'll deal with it later, so bye!" Guy's cuts off the communication. "Geez...talk about a stickler for rules..." Guy turns around to the two women. "Alright lady, let's--" he prepares his ring but stops and sees that there's no fighting and that a second woman has made her way into the area. "Wait, how much did I miss?"

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost has been.. Delaying Red She-Hulk while others have gotten out. That's her story and she's sticking to it. "So you're another thing made by the military and intelligence communities trying to make more powerful metagenetic experiments? Lovely. How much of the Pentagon's budget goes into such things?"

Betty Ross has posed:
"More than they claim." Red She Hulk says darkly, then turns to face Guy as he makes himself known again. "Nothing important. I think someone is stealing a purse down the street there, I saw them running that way." she says, pointing with the sword.

    Worth a try.

Guy Gardner has posed:
Guy's face turns into a scowl. "Listen, lady, I'm dumb but I'm not THAT dumb. Now, I dunno what you're tryin' to do here, but ya can't go around stealing weapons like these, especially when you're testing them out with people around." Speaking of which, Guy notices that all of the civilians are gone...except for 1 person. He looks at the blonde woman. "Hey, you should't be...wait, lemme guess. Metahuman?"

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would shake her head, "No, not in the slightest." Emma would lie very smothly, "I just that here was somewhat safer given she was more focused on looting than fighting than trying to run with everyone else evacuating the area and being trampled."

Betty Ross has posed:
"I figured from your look." Rulkie says smoothly to Guy. Hey, she's just agreeing with him! She doesn't move to put Emma between herself and Guy though, instead stepping the other direction so there's some distance between her as she grins wolfishly at Guy. "Gonna stop me?"

Guy Gardner has posed:
Guy, not taking the time to tell if she's just luring him for a trap, just takes action immediately. "Didn't become a Green Lantern by letting people like you get off scott free!" Guy shoots out a beam of light that forms into the shape of a cylindrical clamp, said clamp restraining Rulkie from going anywhere. "Too easy." Guy smirks.

Emma Frost has posed:
And as things escalate, Emma Frost is going to fully dive out of the way, moving to upturn one of the heavy tables over as cover to duck behind. She still has to play her role, and while she doesn't think that Red She-Hulk would attempt to attack her or threaten her.. Well.. No sense taking a chance.

Betty Ross has posed:
Rulkie mmmms, glancing down at the clamp. "Like it's that EASY!" she says, growling as she flexes her arms against the clamp, pressing outwards as she tries to shatter the construct.

Guy Gardner has posed:
Guy can feel the immense strain on his construct trying to tear itself apart. He focuses more, gritting his teeth and grunting. "Me and my big stupid mouth..." His ring's light begins to flicker from the battle between the woman's immense strength and his increasing input of willpower. "Nnnngh! It's like trying to hold on to a moon!" He groans through his gritted teeth. He knows very well the construct is going to fail at this rate.

Betty Ross has posed:
Rulkie grits her teeth, then roars out as she shoves hard, her anger increasing her strength steadily much like her namesake. Though unfortunately the rifle caught in the clamp doesn't survive, being caught between her and the clamp as it crumples.

Guy Gardner has posed:
As predicted, the construct shatters from the red woman's strength. Guy shields his face from the bits of hard light shrapnel before looking back at Red She-Hulk. His eyes glance at the crushed gun. He grins, knowing what she was wanting was nothing more than crushed scrap now. "Oops, did I do that?" Guy quips, imitating a certain classic sitcom phrase.

Betty Ross has posed:
Rulkie glances down at the ruined gun, looking annoyed, then reaches over to grab hold of the heavy sword, pulling it free of the ground with a grind of metal against asphalt. "Now you're pissing me off..." she growls idly, flexing her knees, then leaps at Guy, swinging her sword with the flat like a baseball bat.

Emma Frost has posed:
Lovely. So much for avoiding hte fracas. Now Emma Frost is trying to get away from the melee that's escalating rapidly. Fortunately civilians are out of the area, and most of the weapons (Or in the case of knock-off HammerCo ones, mostly dangerous to their creator) are scattered about. So Emma's just running as quickly as she can, trying to keep as much debris between her and the fight as possible.

Guy Gardner has posed:
The leap that Red She-Hulk makes is too unexpected and fast for Guy considering he's distracted from previously gloating. His joy turns into shock as he tries to summon a knight's shield in front of him, but he's not fast enough. The flat end of the sword smacks him, causing him to go flying with a grunt. He lands hard on the pavement and rolls to a stop. He tries to get back up on his feet and shrug off the pain. "Damn, she hits hard..."

Betty Ross has posed:
There's a crunch as Red lands, flexing her knees casually to absorb the impact as she narrows her eyes at Guy, stalking towards him as she pretty much ignores Emma for the moment, then pauses stab the sword into the ground again, then uses both hands to pick up a security APC prototype, lifting it over her head, then heaving it in Guy's direction. "Sorry, but you seem like a tough guy, sure you can take it!"

Emma Frost has posed:
Oh this is wonderful. Now the two are obliterating the area. Emma's not moving to get in the way; she knows full well how much an ordinary person gets 'squish' when they get caught up. Emma', having a bit of space between herself and the other two, is just running for the nearest set of barricades.

Guy Gardner has posed:
After a few more grunts, Guy finally gets back onto his feet. As soon as he looks up, he gasps at the sight of the APC flying directly towards him. He quickly sets up a construct in the shape of a large concrete barrier. The APC smashes into the barrier, completely totaling its front end. The construct is able to stay structurally sound. "Yeah, kick a man while he's down, why dontcha?" He withdraws the construct and flies above the APC to see Rulkie again. "Ya know, you remind me a lot of someone-- he's also red and gets easily pissed off. I'm willing to bet you two would hit it off right away." Guy smirks.

Betty Ross has posed:
Rulkie hmmphs. "Not happy with that comparison." she says as she visibly draws on her self-control, eyeing the smashed up APC, then Guy flying. "And you fly. Great." Meaning it will be harder to evade him if she wants to retreat without making sure he can't follow somehow. Unless...

"Heh. Well, you win, mostly. I guess I"ll have to take this as a consolation prize." she says, tapping the sword idly, then drawing back her hands. "Happy landings!"

Then she brings her palms together in a thunderous CLAP.

The shockwave around her is enough to send a hard gust around her, but aimed as it is, the majority of the powerful shockwave goes straight at Guy, a few windows along the route shattering.

Emma Frost has posed:
This is bad. Emma Frost can only howl in total pain as she would be flung along by the shockwaves to hit the ground, rolling hard and landing messily. She's deafened, unable to hear anything, and shattering glass has fallen upon her, cutting across her badly. Cursing, slowly bracing a hand over against a wall to prop herslf up, Emma Frost telepathically shuts down many of her body's pain receptors while also cutting back on the parts of her brain that would register fear and terror. She had to keep herself focused here.
Using a hand to brace herself up given she was so dizzy she could barely stand, she would hobble along.

Guy Gardner has posed:
"Ah crap." Guy simply mutters right before the shockwave impacts him, causing him to go flying once again with the added bonus of him becoming partially deaf. He slams into the ground once again. The intense ringing in his ears is almost unbearable as he gets back up on his feet.

"Cheap move, lady! Cheap move!" Guy sticks a finger in his ear, as if that would do anything to stop the ringing. His eyes widen as he notices Emma injured and shambling. He wastes no time darting towards her. Yes, Red She-Hulk might get away, but civilians always come first for Guy. He lands next to her and looks her over, noticing the numerous nasty cuts all over her body. "Miss! Are you okay?"

"What are you saying, idiot? Of course she's not okay." Guy thinks to himself.

Betty Ross has posed:
Red glances over at Emma's howl of pain, her eyes widening, a brief flash of guilt crossing her face. She didn't intend that! But...the hero will get to her. And she has to go, before this draws more capes this way.

She grabs the the sword, flexing her knees, then there's a sharp CRACK as the ground under her craters as she goes soaring away into the distance, beginning a series of superpowered leaps to carry her away from the scene of the crime.

She has to get better at using her abilities...she knows what the Hulk can do, but translating that into doing it herself...she has to get better. But she doesn't have time to do it all before what needs to be done.

There can't be more Hulks like her. Not again.

Emma Frost has posed:
Having managed to brace herself, Emma Frost is hobbling along, lsowly and steadily over in the direction that most of the people had fled. The path was clear and she didn't particularly trust herself to mvoe more than slowly. Her disorientation and focus was enough that the presence of Red She-Hulk jumping away isn't noticed; Emma can barely stand up, much less hear anything. The reverberation of dust going up in the air from the leap and small quake accompanying is missed as well.
Emma's sole intent being to ever so gingerly get herself to somewhere with full cover before her body's pain broke past her telepathic walls.
Guy's presence over at her side is noticed quickly for a moment, even as Emma's mental walls holding back her pain and adrenaline would crumble as she would slump forwards.
