Cast of Characters: Daisy Johnson, Leopold Fitz, Jemma Simmons, Jane Foster

Daisy Johnson has posed:
It's a fine, uneventful day at SHIELD. Just the best of days to be spent away at the lab investigating some new technology, watching the stars or even having tea with a certain Mr. Horse...

WRONG!

Messages have been sent. Daisy. With rather simple words: "Come to the Gym. Karate certification time. 10AM." Pfffttt, and she is not even higher rank than them! But considering she is the 'Sporty Spice' of this trio that are the Furiae where it comes to the physical matters she takes point. And Fitz? Well, she may have heard that he will be going on the mission tonight so of course that he gets the invitation too. Besides, getting FitzSimmons in the same training session? It's too good to pass up.

So Daisy now awaits at the gym, already at it with a poor punching bag, throwing some combinations at it with quite the devoted zeal.

Someone is taking this seriously.

Leopold Fitz has posed:
"What I'm saying is that it's not possible, at least not before-"

The broad accent can be heard a touch before he's seen, the dead giveaway that the resident Scot is out of his lab and in a corridor. He's got the summons, certainly, and it's been something that he's actually actively avoided. He'd taken time off after the Framework, and the time away didn't really help. Actually, not at all. It was the time he'd returned, and got back to work in his lab with the familiar form and figure of his lab partner from Academy days helping more than the most lavish of vacation spots.

He didn't get a ticket to Tahiti.. just saying.

Fitz had gone on a small mission, something short, tentative; and he hadn't broken. Hadn't failed. Promising, absolutely.

Now? He's on deck for a major mission, and not only that? One where known (and unknown) powered SHIELD agents will abound. Daunting, to say the least, for anyone. For one that still has doubts about himself? Almost terrifying.

But, it's swallowed, and when the 'request' comes to get some karate work in, ostensibly to be able to a pass the next run.. how could he refuse?

He can't.

So, down the corridor he comes, his button down oxford and tie exchanged for a t-shirt and comfortable pants.

Jemma Simmons has posed:
On the far side, an unmistakenly British voice can be heard, in between strikes from Daisy to her poor target. "No, we must not keep Daisy waiting. When she gets her mind set on a task, it is best to go along with it." A pause...then a follow up. "Well, of course we need to do this now. Would you rather it be May? Because I can tell you honestly what that is like. Daisy is more reasonable."

As the voice grows louder, it is apparent that the owner is walking up, in her athletic attire, with another person in tow. It would seem that Jemma made it a point to walk over and fetch Leo for the little exercise. Most likely pulled him from the lab. Still, the conversation pauses as Jemma turns to offer Daisy a wave. "Hello there, Daisy. Here we are, right on time."

Does Jemma have an advantage, seeing as how Daisy is an on-again, off-again roommate of Jemma's? Perhaps. But even Jemma knows when to toe the line, regardless of status. A final glance back to Leo as Jemma comments. "It can wait. This can't. And...Director Carter certainly cannot, either." Yes, Jemma still uses the old appellation for Peggy. And yes, Jemma is not above using the pending mission as leverage. She has learned her tricks well.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
More reasonable? Oh, you sweet summer children! Well, in truth she might be. Because who isn't more reasonable than May during training?! Daisy stops on the beatdown at the poor bag once she hears the greeting, casting a look past the bag to the duo. "There you are, right on time indeed. Hello FitzSimmons." an expectant look further past Jemma and Fitz's shoulder, "We are still missing one, but we shall start at once. Because you are right, Peggy needs you at your best, and I will make sure it's what she will get."

So serious. She can even keep that straight, even tone that Ward is known for. And it's no wonder she can pull it so well as the man was her senior officer a few years back. She just can't pull that chin though.

"So, when was the last time we had the pleasure of your presence down here at the training gym?" She asks, perhaps not sure if she wants to hear the answer but doing it anyway! She folds her arms together.

Jane Foster has posed:
Mr. Horse has an excellent opinion of tea. He retains his elegance and well-mannered behaviour, eyeing up the brunette with a look. "You're twitterpated."

//Twitterpated.// Her good mood only modestly deflated, Jane responds to the summons of her fellow Furiae. The open spectrum of her mood remains good-shifted, a certain breezy ease to her. Not dreaminess. She isn't nearly that bad, and would be horrified to act in a dreamy way. Her phone in hand ignores her, per usual, and the monitoring efforts to keep HYDRA out of SHIELD whine when she swipes her badge. She swipes her badge eight times. Her ensemble is light once she emerges from a changing room, comfortable pants and a gi suited to fitting her well. It's unfair to go up against a real Inhuman, their greater strength a danger at the best of times.

"Is this team science defense class?" She rounds her eyes and lips curiously. If Daisy is Sporty, Jemma must be Ginger, Fitz is Old? She gets to be Dead Spice. No point in humming Spice Up Your Life, except she is.

"May would be interesting -- without the light sabres. Light sabres are plain unfair against scientists. We have to make the noises, too." Her opinion comes as a greeting, hand raised to her brow as she pushes her French-braided hair back from her face. Her smile is faint. "The stress on Chief Carter is concerning. She's far enough along things might go badly if her heart rate or blood pressure remain so elevated. Pre-eclampsia with HYDRA isn't what we want to see." Her expression is not blithe. "I hope you have cards up your sleeve on that, Jems, because I don't really want to play 'throw her in a black hole.'"

Leopold Fitz has posed:
Fitz makes a face before rounding the corner to the gym, lips pressed and he's decidedly not happy with having to do it at all. "Well, if she signs off on it, an' perhaps remind the others that I am actually an Agent as well, then it might be worth it." One of the sticking points with him, apparently? "Commander May, well.." he's not holding onto the thought that either would be a walk in the park.

In contrast to Jemma's jaunty, upbeat wave, Fitz nods first, then adds, "Daisy." The appellation of 'FitzSimmons' doesn't escape Fitz' notice, and he glances quickly at Jemma before his eyes roll slightly. People really, really do think they're one person! "What? Confession time? Last time I had to qualify for field work." Last year. Ish. He looks between Jemma and Daisy, the burr of his accent sounding, "I'm only doin' this because I have to. An' that Jemma is right. S'for Director Carter." It's the pair, then, that use the older, more formal title for 'Peggy'.

Jane's entrance gains a brow raise and blue eyes move from the astrophysicist to Daisy, "Science block time?" Then maybe, just maybe he won't feel as targeted? Maybe?

Jemma's importance to the mission is thus underscored by Jane, and he glances back to his partner, mouthing, 'Told you.'

Jemma Simmons has posed:
Daisy's question about the last time in the gym earns a reaction from Jemma. That of slightly worrisome shame. "Well, you see..."

But then in comes Jane to the rescue. "Team science, for the win." Jemma quickly latches on to the subject change, in hopes of diverting Daisy from her question. Actually, Jemma had been at least semi-regular in the gym before. One kinda has to when they hit senior level. But, even for Jemma, it has been a bit. Still, Daisy doesn't need to know *that*.

"Oh, the light sabres. Yes. Well, we can counteract those if we need to." It helps when you are part of the development process for the tech, too. "As for Peggy? Yes, I plan on bringing along my usual gear. And I have prepped it for Peggy's condition in mind." It seems to be thinking that Jemma is going as the combat medic for the pending operation. A combat medic with leadership experience...and self defense capabilities, after Daisy is done with her.

The reaction from Leo, in regards to Jemma's importance, is met with a shaking of the head and a chuckle. "Yes, yes. You were right. Happy now?"

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Ahah, there you are Jane. And indeed it is.." Daisy finally lifts one hand to fingerwiggle in greeting at the gathered trio, "We were currently going through confession time, aka on when was the last time you were here in the gym." she states in a somewhat .., ominous.., tone?

"Jemma here is trying to evade the question by trying to distract me with lightsaber and star wars talk. Which ..., it's very effective. But it won't work this time, darlin'.." she grinning faintly at Jemma. Because in the same way that Jemma knows Daisy quite well so does Daisy know the british scientist! The talk about Peggy does have Daisy lose a bit of her grin but she seems to have the utmost confidence in them when she says, "I am sure you three will figure out the best way to solve the situation." no doubt in her tone.

"But as I am not going to be able to be there I want you to be able to protect yourselves to the best of your abilities.." Then her eyes focusing on Leo, "And the date is 23 of March, 2021. The date of your last field work qualification."

Uh oh, someone has done her homework.

"So, we start with some warm up, then sparring between you and I will show you some moves."

Jane Foster has posed:
The scientists around Daisy have their means and their methods to serve SHIELD. Physical prowess, a la Grant Ward or Natasha Romanoff, may not be in the cards. The brunette astrophysicist at least looks vaguely dressed for the part, though she strips off her running shoes before hitting the mats. Punching bags that Cap could demolish are one thing. Actual sparring partners and training dummies are another.

"Some moves, Ms. Johnson? Now I'm keenly curious what kind of moves those will be. Are they suave dashes after dumplings in a hoisin sauce?" Purely innocent as driven snow, Jane breaks into a slight smile. She'll let Leo and Jemma do what they do best, defuse the situation.

"It's good to see you out, Fitz. Do you want to leave Jemma to the gentle graces of Agent Johnson here, or would you rather face the bold agent yourself? I assure you, it's an experience being tossed on your backside." For certainly it would seem that she's aware of it, pulling her arm across her chest to open up her shoulders. She repeats the motion for the opposite side, a stellar impression of complete calm and ease. Why, this might not even be too terrorizing for someone usually confined to occasionally hiding under tables.

Leopold Fitz has posed:
Fitz pulls up on the balls of his feet once.. sort of bouncing in that brief moment of victory, though perhaps it's a touch of pride that peeks through those blues when he takes those brief glances to the side. He and Jemma haven't been down to the gym in too long, and perhaps it is time, as much as he, at least, hates it.

Perhaps it'd be less onerous if he wasn't getting beaten up by women? (As capable as they are, mind..)

"Mind, I never had a fear about bein' able to do the job, even if I didn't show up here for trainin'... since, an' thank you, Daisy." There's a certain level of maudlin humor in his tones as it's brought up to him. He's overdue!

Fitz does stop at the side of the mats and when pulling a foot up, hops around for a couple of beats before holding a hand out to steady himself. Auspicious beginning, certainly! One shoe, the other.. and he's padding onto the mat. "Dr. Foster. A pleasure, though under different circumstances." Exercise really, really isn't his thing! "An' I have no doubt that perhaps all of us will be seein' the mat up close an' personal at least once?"

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Jane's taunt about dumplings in a hoisin sauce has Daisy break into a smile. Damn it, she can't pull a proper Ward! But how can she when she's reminded of some her favorite Royal Dragon food? "The dumplings will be supplied when you all return from mission in one piece." she replies to the Stargazer. "Who knows, maybe I can even a Very Good Lawyer to accompany us there." then a eyebrow waggle to Jane, "And a certain King ..."

There. Gossip starting!

"But anyway, my dashes are always suave..." She then gesturing to Jane and Fitz, "Why don't you two pair up?" she suggests, "I will be with Jemma for now." nothing like breaking the ice with some backside-tossing, "May and Bobbi have taught me all they know.." she then says in a self-important manner, "Who knows, maybe I will even teach you the reverse aerial spin thigh toss maneuver later today..."

The what now?

Jane Foster has posed:
Dumplings are fighting words, aren't they? "Did I tell you I learned to make the pastry properly in a low gravity situation?" She asides to Daisy in a light, low tone. "Royal Dragon victory party afterward? That sounds better than the Swordfish. I have the suspicion we'll find this an ugly mission. She's a valuable intelligence target, too valuable in a way. The resistance will be significant, especially if HYDRA opts to bring heavy hitters." Her mouth doesn't strike into a smile. "I'd /like/ the king to be there, but that's a question and not a favour. The stakes are just as high to lose a consultant."

Her expression eases as she loosens up her shoulders and chest, shifting from one foot to another to jiggle her joints loose. Of course, the hope they'll loosen at all has nothing to do with actually stretching and everything to do with meditation exercises, clarity of purpose, and not being mentally conflicted as Daisy totally just made her.

Good for Fizzy Spice, then. A deep breath achieves only some rational, calming effect. "You'll be just as important to help deal with all the scientific and engineering quandaries we're facing. D.W.A.R.F.s armed and ready?" She brings her hands together and bows deeply to Leo, her braid flopped over her shoulder. The crisp precision of the bow -- and the gi -- are probably good warnings when taking to the mats barefooted.

She knows what she's about, at least a bit.

Disregard she's an Asgardian war goddess, too.

Jemma Simmons has posed:
"What, you mean that throw that Bobbi stole from Natasha?"

Oh, it would seem that Jemma does have some experience with this. And, with just a singular sentence, Jemma tips her hat. She was trained by Commander Bobbi Morse, too. There is more that betrays the fact that Jemma has had some extra training, too. The way she bows to Daisy, keeping her eyes upon her sparring partner at all times, is one. Another is the way that Jemma settles into a ready stance. Both hands up by her head, her body turned so provide as little of a profile to her opponent as possible. Yes, Jemma would not seem completely out of place if she was to walk into a karate school. But, yes, this is Sporty Spice in front of her. And, Jemma has virtually admitted to not being in the gym for a while, though she never actually admitted of such.

Needless to say, Jemma fully expects to find herself on the floor at some point or another. But, at least it looks like she is going to make it somewhat challenging for Daisy.

Leopold Fitz has posed:
The ladies' talk is all moving about and around him; theirs is a closed world, but that's perfectly fine! There lies madness, after all. He does spare all a quick glance as Daisy dishes, even minimally, the gossip on relationships. He and Jemma are spared, if only for the moment, which is appreciated. Really!

Pairing off with Jane, well.. the gi and the snap in the bow is a dead give-away, isn't it? "Not just the DWARFs will be comin'," Fitz returns. "I've got a couple more things up my sleeve on this one. A few upgrades, an', well.. some specialized gear." He's packed and ready now, actually. Like going on a long trip, pack early, then the last bits and bobs get tossed into the carry-on.

It's practice time, however, and he exhales in a softly audible breath. Time to get his mind in the game, not that it's easy. Karate it is, and he finally, 'officially', faces Jane, feet at shoulder width, his hands coming up together, and his own bow in return. He's no Asgardian god..

Heartbeats pass before a foot is placed back, a defensive move, fully believing that Jane is going to move first, hands/arms up in a defensive position, one ready to push any forward punch away in order to deal a return blow..

Daisy Johnson has posed:
That Jemma knows that is surprising, at least until Daisy remembers who exactly was Jemma's senior officer when she was getting trained for the promotion. Yes, because she knows how it goes with senior officers, secrets get spilled ..., or worse. Relationships. But no need to think now on the train wreck that was her relation with Ward.

"I see this will be interesting.." Daisy says with a growing smirk on the edge of her lips, pacing around the mats while watching Jemma's posture. A nod comes at how it's done before she also drops into one of her own, "Does that mean she taught you the counter?" Oh, she certainly will be trying out the move on Jemma. If only for demonstration purposes to the others! Even if admittedly it's not a move that can be easily pulled off.

Pastries do have a tendency to get Daisy to look over at Jane, "So it was properly approved?" she remembers the talk they had before on how she was devising some cooking methods, "Royally approved?" a wink following it.

"And see, if you bring the King, I bring my lawyer ..., Jemma and Fitz can bring each other. It will be a perfect night out." No Fitz, you and Jemma aren't spared!

It's all a matter of timing so her opponent can be properly put off-balance. Sneaky Daisy.
