Barbara Gordon has posed:
Barbara had been doing quite a lot of motiving and shaking to try and get the Birds of Prey in to a more serious setup. The team meeting had made some headway, and she was further pushing to try and make more sense of how it all should work... idealy.

Tonight, she'd contacted Carrie Kelley to meet up at the Clocktower.

Babs is here now, moving around behind her sofa in the center of the spacious apartment loft. Holding her phone up to her ear.

"Yeah. No. The girl should be fine. The serum worked as you said it would. Mmhmm." She says to whomever is on the other line.

Carrie Kelley has posed:
As of late, Carrie had been a little out of sorts. She had assisted Conner and Bart on a mission that turned out to be horrendous alien things that tried to eat her face, but luckily she had pre-warning from her drones about them and managed to out run them. Now she had a call from Barbara, and she wasn't going to miss that meeting.

Since it wasn't an official meeting of any kind, she was dressed in a pair of blue jeans with knee high tan boots, a plain t-shirt beneath a dark green hoodie, and her goggles pushed up on her forehead, hidden in the hood.

Arriving exactly on time, whether a time was given or not, she made her way to the apartment via the elevator, and stepped out into the spacious room. It was larger than she remembered, or perhaps she shrunk. Seeing Barbara on the phone, she offers a wave and waited.

Barbara Gordon has posed:
Barbara sees the lift monitors showing that Carrie is on her way up, so by the time the young woman arrives, Babs is already detaching herself from the conversation on the phone. She hangs up, then slips the device in to her front pocket of her black denim jeans. She shows a big smile for Carrie, and walks around the sofa to offer a hand. In a black sleeveless top, and some black leather boots that have small heels, Babs looks pretty casual herself.

"Carrie. Thanks for coming. I've wanted to touch base with you for awhile... Things are.. ever busy."

Babs will turn to the kitchen then, and start toward it. The kitchen being part of the loft apartment, all styled like a 1950s 'nuclear family' kitchen, with mint greens and sky blues'.

"Want a drink? Water, juice? We got it all." She says in good spirits.

Carrie Kelley has posed:
A smile spreads across Carrie's face, the kind that lights up her features and makes her emerald eyes sparkle. It was always good to see an old friend, mother, type, person. "Things are crazy busy," she comments with a giggle, following Barbara toward the kitchen. "Uh... I wouldn't mind some juice, but if you tell me where it is I can get it myself. No need for you wait on me."

Looking around, she can't help but notice the personal touches, the little things that make the space reach out and demand attention. The kitchen was a perfect example of that, an older style brought back to life in a beautiful way.

"I really love this space, you know? It just speaks out in a good way," she rambles, then coughs slightly as her cheeks rose up. Looking back to Barbara she offers a sheepish smile. "I mean I like your decorating style."

Barbara Gordon has posed:
Babs moves toward one of the cabinets and reaches for a glass. She motions to the old timey fridge then. "Have at it." She tells the young woman. A grin forms across her lips then as she looks around the kitchen. "Yeah... admittedly, I'm a gamer nerd. I have been since I was a little girl. It's what got me in to programming, and tech in-general. So when I got this place, I had this 'vision' of making each little corner like a cut away vision from its own game. This being... inspired-by Fallout, I guess." She shows a smirk then before offering the glass.

The fridge is filled up with everything one could want!

"But hows things been for you? We missed ya at the meeting on Thursday. You gotta swing by and hang out with some of the other Birds soon."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Heading over to the fridge, Carrie pulls it open to have a look at the juices inside. She's not the nosy sort, not really, but her eyes can't help but look over what else Barbara has. Taking hold of the orange juice, she pulls it out and takes it to the counter, closing the fridge behind her.

"I totally get a Fallout vibe from your kitchen," she admits with a grin. "So you got that part right, at least to me."

Accepting the glass, she pours some of the juice into it before replacing the container to the fridge. No need to ruin perfectly good orange juice, but man were there a lot of things to drink in that fridge.

"How am I?" she repeats, almost sounding like the question was some sort of riddle, and then the sheepish smile slips back onto her face. "Honesty or would you rather I fake it?" She already knew the answer, so she just kept going. "I know, I know, honesty... the truth is, I'm feeling kind of, well, lost right now."

She looks into the glass at the orange juice then slowly back up at Barbara. "I've been here for seven years, finished some schooling, learned some neat new skills and tricks, learned how to use a bow, but I still feel... I don't know, that something is missing. I've been trying to find it, looking everywhere, I swear I even tried looking under the couches." She smirks slightly then sighs softly.

"I know I can't go back, that I will never be what I had always wanted to be, but finding the new thing to do with my knowledge and skills, that's been difficult. I still help out where I can, but really... I'm not a Wayne, I'll never be a Robin, and I /need/ to help out. It's in my blood."

Barbara Gordon has posed:
Barbara walks over to the center island counter and just crosses her arms over her stomach as she leans against it on her right hip. She watches Carrie as she responds. A gentle nod following the younger woman's words. "I wasn't sure if that was the case or not, to be honest. We have a lot of hard luck cases around here. We've all tried hard to turn that luck around, but even with people doing seemingly well on the outside... you can never be sure how they are on the inside."

"Well." Babs pauses, smiles softly. "You can't be sure if you don't check often enough."

Barbara motions beyond the kitchen then toward the raised platform where there is a giant computer stations. Lots of big monitors all up on a big wrap around desk with a few chairs around it.

"Your'e in to computers, right?" She asks, before a grin appears on her visage.

"Interested in a job?"

Carrie Kelley has posed:
In all honesty, Carrie had been trying very hard to /not/ look at that computer set up, but from the minute she walked in she could hear it calling to her. A faint whisper in the back of her head, growing louder until it was screaming, 'look at me, touch me, program stuff with me!'. Now that Barbara pointed it out, her eyes locked onto it like a hawk on it's prey.

"Being out of touch, er... my own reality, it's been difficult," she admits, eyes not moving, not even blinking... well they are, but she doesn't notice that.

"I've tried to be helpful where I could, as I said, but I know... I have to forge my own path now and yes, I'm very much into computers."

It took all that time for the offer of a job to sink in, for the words to get through the 'oh my gods, look at that computer' screaming. That's when her head snaps back and her eyes land on Barbara. "A job? What sort of job? Doesn't matter, I'm interested."

Barbara Gordon has posed:
The reaction that the young woman gives has Barbara continuing to grin. She uncrosses her arms from her stomach, laying her right hand down on the counter. "Awesome." She replies then with a single light nod. A glance around the big loft apartment, then Babs looks back to Carrie. "A job right here, with me, er, well.. with us. The Birds."

She starts to move then, stepping out of the kitchen area toward the small staircase that leads up to that computer station area. She looks back over her shoulder. "You've heard of Oracle, right? The 'Eye in the Sky' as they all call it." She puts her hand on the railing and starts up, but pauses.

"Come on, I'll show you the ins and outs of it all. Bring the orange juice too. It's safe. Trust me, after spilling cereal and Mountain Dew on a hundred computers while playing World of Warcraft my whole life... I knew my dream setup would be 'proofed' against spills."

She'll lead Carrie up to the computers then, and go about giving her a full VIp tour!

Carrie Kelley has posed:
The orange juice gets set down on the counter as Carrie is not about to take liquids around that beautiful computer until her hands are done shaking. Once that is done, Barbars tells her to bring it, so she picks it back up and moves to follow her, almost like a priest approaching the alter in a church. She just had to be careful with the OJ, that's all.

"I seem to recall hearing Eye in the Sky," she admits, reaching the stairs. "Maybe Oracle... yeah, that does sound familiar, it's probably in my notes."

And then there was no more time for chit-chat, the wonderful and amazing secrets of the computer were being revealed and that was all Carrie could focus on. The OJ was forgotten, just held in her hand as she listened and looked over things.

She was going to love this, every minute of it.
