Leaving On a Bifrost
Date of Scene: 14 May 2022
Location: Midtown
Synopsis: Sif lets Jimmy know she's going to be leaving Midgard for a time.
Cast of Characters: Jimmy Hudson, Sif

Jimmy Hudson has posed:
It was the middle of Friday, the sound of tea cups clinking, spoons upon ceramic, and the hum of conversation were the order of the day. Something about the vibe of activity and thrum of discussion seems to make the world seem at ease for the most part and it lent itself well to the feeling of a lazy day just before the weekend.
"Exams are going on, so half days." He says as he sits down. James Hudson, school instructor for Xavier's Gifted Children. They had already greeted each other, polite though warm. Small kisses that could be based in affection, or simply affecting the European approach to such things. But when he eased into the booth and met her eyes there was a warmth that would defy the casual.
"So what's the to do?" That he had been asked to wander off his comfortable island of safety at the school. Rarely did he get down from Westchester save on the weekends to help get the stable in order.

Sif has posed:
"First and foremost," Sif begins as she reaches into her pocket. She's dressed like a Midgardian today. Somewhat dressy in a pair of black slacks with slip on shoes. No heels. The blouse is a dark blue which goes well with her eyes. She drew her cellphone out of her pocket, laying it on the table. Then sliding it over toward him. The screen was actually locked, something he had taught her to do. Since prior to that, she simply had it able to be accessed by anyone at any time. But he knew the password she had set, the backup way to get in when not using fingerprint or facial recognition. "I was in the settings. I was trying to change my ringtone for Thor but failed. Somehow I managed to split the screen. Into four." Which he would see when he opened it. "Would you kindly fix it for me? Again."

She left it on the table either way, whether he took it or not. "I wanted to let you know I will be departing from Midgard for a time. It is hoped to be a limited amount of time but such situations tend to escalate." When tempers flared and everything came crashing down around them. "I would like to ask you check in at my ranch while I am away. Just to ensure no one is trespassing. I have several deliveries due this coming week but they have been instructed to leave things in the barn."

Jimmy Hudson has posed:
As for Jimmy, he's taken it easy and is in jeans and a t-shirt, though he has a loose blue overshirt that's got the sleeves rolled up in case a chill sets on in the evening. He has that tousled hair and a day's worth of beard on him giving him that disheveled fresh out of bed look. But his smile is vibrant as he listens and then leans over to see what the warrior godess is talking about.
That smile broadens, however, when he sees that it is indeed the cellphone that needs some handling as he chuckles a little then slides it over. "I think I can manage that." Though he does blink somewhat while he manipulates the phone, lightly swiping and tapping, unifying things and closing some windows.
Though when she mentions leaving 'Midgard' his brow lifts as he looks up to peer at her. "Yeah?" He says at first, trying to be somewhat non-commital. "Everythin' alright?" He quirks an eyebrow with curiousity, perhaps a little bit of concern as well.
A few more swipes as he gets it squared away then goes into the settings to try and make it so it can't happen again so easily. "I mean, I suppose I can crash at yer place when I don't have ta be on campus. Though I plan ta eat all yer food, then order pizza, then run around in mah underwear. But sure."
That said he looks up, "What did you want the ring tone to be?"

Sif has posed:
"The ringtone does not matter. I simply wished for it to be something other than my normal one to differentiate." Which gives him free rein. This may be what has led to her main ringtone being Barbie Girl. And whatever Jimmy had possibly set up for his own personal ring tone.

The server came over and quickly got their drink order before heading off to the next table and eventually disappearing in the back presumably to retrieve said beverages. They should be back soon for the food order.

Sif's menu was still sitting in front of her as she focused on the other part. "There are some complications with Trollheim. We are receiving bits of information but not all from the various sides. We have also sent a messenger there, only to have him not return." She picked up her glass of water and took a quick sip before continuing. "Thus we will be traveling to Trollheim to determine the truth. Which often leads to conflict as the trolls are not known for their skills in diplomacy."

Jimmy Hudson has posed:
There is a slight pause as he stops scrolling through options and clicks on one particular mp3 that's available and swipes for that, then he leaves it set for now. After that the phone is pushed back to her and he nods a little, concern in his eyes. "That sounds difficult."
A beat as he looks to the side, then settles more into his seat. "And dangerous."
His jaw extends slightly, then he chews on the inside of his cheek with that thoughtful look as he turns away, then back to her as he murmurs. "I'm trustin' you ta tell me if'n I should be worried. Since I have no idea the intricacies of all the stuff goin' down with you and yer people. So if I find out this is super bad and you're not tellin' me, that's gonna damage our trust. A'right?"

Sif has posed:
The phone is picked up and Sif slips it into her pocket again. She doesn't bother checking behind him to see what he set. He's done well so far in picking her ringtones so she has no doubt he did this time.

She considers his words, looking a little confused for a moment. "I have no intention of damaging our trust. But perhaps we view things differently," she adds as she weighs the details. "The trolls oft are at odds with Asgard. They have those who will defy their leadership and attempt to attack us, to try to prove their worth as warriors. While we do not intend to go there for combat, it is always possible when visiting Trollheim. I do not consider there to be danger to myself, despite this fact." She is confident in her skill and that of those she will travel with. "Is it possible? I suppose."

Jimmy Hudson has posed:
"I know, I know." Jimmy reaches a hand back to scritch at his neck, looking a little awkward. It's more like...
The Canadian mutant makes a slight face as he looks away, then turns back as he murmurs, "If I was... inclined positively toward a young woman of some beauty who happened to be from Midg-, I mean Earth. Well and she tol' me she was going somewhere far off to do battle with some angry folk..."
His lip twists up a little, eyebrows lifting as if he was a bit resigned to the situation, but still not sure how to react. "Well, it'd be a tough time. And there'd be cryin' and huggin' and all sortsa carryin' on." Then his smile grows as he rests a hand lightly on hers.
    "But,"
    He says.
"I get the feelin' that this is sorta the Asgardian equivalent of goin' to the corner store ta get a soda and some potato chips."

Sif has posed:
Sif weighs what he says. Trying to understand how it would be if he was dating someone else. A Midgardian. Most Midgardians were not warriors. There were some certainly. There were soldiers even. But in battle, few of them would ever match even the least experienced Asgardian warrior. At least in her experienced, outside those called superheroes and villains. Perhaps a few outside those types.

"Honestly, it is. We often are caught in conflicts. We are warriors. It is simply what we are." She shrugs a little, not sure how to reassure him. Which is the moment the server arrives.

Their drinks are placed on the table. Sif takes that moment to pick up her menu and scan it quickly. She orders a ribeye steak with baked potato. The 16 oz, not the 8 because really? Medium rare. A salad on the side with blue cheese dressing. And because it sounded good, she added the calamari appetizer. Then she passed over the menu to the server. Once they left the table after getting his order, Sif focused back on Jimmy.

"If you wish to cry and hug before my departure, I will not judge you negatively."

Jimmy Hudson has posed:
He takes a breath then exhales it sharply with exasperation, eyes lifting upward to offer prayer to some other deity that the more landbound deities don't drive him up a wall. But he shakes his head and murmurs, "Guys don't cry, it's totally not our thing."
Though his lips twist up as he says, "But fine. I'll try not ta worry if you try ta come back alright. And if you don't I'll be..." A hand lifts to hold fingertips an inch apart. "Just a smidge upset. Like... an ounce worth of upset."
Which is when he finally looks at his menu. Then looks up and points at her as if letting her know he's got his eye on her. So she best behave.

Sif has posed:
Sif reaches out her hand, setting it gently atop his on the table. "Of course I will endeavor to return with no injury. I do not wish you to worry. I am called the goddess of war for reasons. I have been in thousands of battles through millennium. Though perhaps it is possible I will fall in battle, I doubt it will be battling a troll." She doesn't really give them much credit, despite them being an actual threat in battle.

A soft squeeze of his hand. "I do not know how long I will be gone. I just wished you to know I would be absent. I have every intention to return to Midgard and your side."

Jimmy Hudson has posed:
As she speaks he meets her gaze and nods along with the words she offers. He takes a deep breath, then pushes a hand through his hair and after he exhales slowly... that's when he murmurs. "Alright," Then he shakes his head a little and murmurs with a small smile. "Goddess of War, I shouldn't be worried. Right? A'right."
And as easy as that it's decided, which allows him to turn back to the menu as he considers what she said she'd order then says, "That looks mighty fine."
