How About This
Date of Scene: 23 May 2022
Location: Central Gardens - Atlantic Starport
Synopsis: Arthur and Diana discuss golden statues, Donna Troy, and Long John Silvers.
Cast of Characters: Arthur Curry, Diana Prince

Arthur Curry has posed:
"And here you see the grand gardens, Prince Orin." Telvin of Atlantis was not the head of the engineers who had been loaned to the aid of th Starport's construction. But he hoped to be of the rank of Master at some point soon considering he felt it was /he/ who had carried much of the weigh going into the collaborative effort with the Themyscirans and Wakandans. His was a familiar face in the slim encounter suits that many Atlanteans had to wear when having to be above the ocean for long periods of time. But the jaunty red and blue colors of it were a familiar sight to those who had been around during the build.
He continued, "We felt it best to combine the artistic themes present in the peoples who helped much for the starport's construction and curiously enough the themes meld well between the cultures."
Which, to be fair, was true. For Arthur was looking around, not quite wide-eyed, but with raised brows as he strolled beside his countrymen. "Yeah?"
Then he recovered after a beat, "I mean, yeah. There's closeness too if you look at Diana's people and ours. Maybe because we both come from the Mediterranean?"
"It could be, sir. Could be." Telvin deferred as he moved, "There were some that felt the place should be far from sterile, have the hint of what Earth is truly about in the gardens and I believe it's been captured."
Which, to be fair, Arthur nodded again. "Not bad, man."

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana was here today, as she was here most days lately. With construction nearly complete, and most of the Starport already functioning... even having welcomed reps from the Shi'ar empire... things are going quite well.

The Princess is coming down one of the pathways flanked by two Amazonian warrior women in ceremonial armor. Diana is dressed in a white suit blazer with a white skirt and heels though, with her dark hair tied back in a braided ponytail.

She spots Arthur, and his guest, and starts to walk toward them. A smile crosses her deep red hued lips as she draws closer with her sisters, and offers them both a light nodding of her head.

"Are things well?" She asks them both, transfering her gaze from one of their faces to the other. "Any notes, or commentary, on changes that simply 'must' be made?" She asks in that light playful way of hers, though she's serious also!

With the sun up, the Starport fairly busy, and a nice warm ocean-scented breeze making its way across the gardens, things are nice and casually calm at the present moment.

Arthur Curry has posed:
Arthur's features twist into a wry hint of warmth before he suppresses them with a slight nudge toward Telvin's side, though the other Atlantean is busy lowering his eyes and taking a step back slightly with one foot to approximate a bow. "Princess Diana."
But Arthur gives no bow for now, instead he rests his hands on his hips and crinkles his nose as he looks across the way of the beautiful gardens in the grand starport. He chews his lower lip for a time as he ponders the needed pondering, looking from fountains, to artwork, to landscaping, to architecture.
Then he points toward the middle o the gardens, one finger at first, then all four sort of twiddling in gesture. "I was thinking what we need is maybe something to bring it all together."
Then he looks back to her, "You know, something to unify it all. I'm thinkin'..." His eyebrows lift as if it just occurred to him. "Maybe a solid gold statue. Heroic figure. Standing tall right there. His hair blowing in the wind. Maybe some dolphins behind him leaping. I got someone in mind."
Which as Telvin listens he hasn't spent much time in Arthur's presence for his features drop slowly as if imagining that this request might be a real thing. For he has heard worse in the bowels of the Atlantean Royal Court.

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana's eyes turn to look at the indicated spot for the statue-to-be. She pictures it as described, before she sweeps her gaze back toward him. A flickering grin graces her expression before Diana folds her hands together in front of her lap to interlace her fingers together.

Her eyebrows raise some as she considers her response. "I am eager to see what this statue would look like, and if we can make it happen... I think you are right. It could be /very/ striking to see in such glory." She says cheerily back to him.

Her eyes cast about their immediate surroundings then, with the ocean breeze causing the foliage and flowers here-in to make a calming, serene, soundscape for them all in the moment.

"To be truthful, such decorations are still being discussed and planned... and it is nice to be at that stage. The 'beautification' phase, so to speak." She states, looking once more upon Arthur and the other Atlantean.

Arthur Curry has posed:
Diana's agreeableness once again defuses the matter to Telvin's pleasure assuredly. Though Arthur his smile becomes a little more pronounced as he exhales slowly as if she were the most trying Amazon on God's green earth. "It's no fun, Diana. If you agree with me."
For the argument is the thing.
Though Telvin's data display on his wrist chimes in briefly with a lovely tune that has his voice coming through the speaker in his suit, "Ah, look at the time. I shall be about getting your dinner secured, Prince Orin. Shan't be but a moment." And with that he starts to rush down one of those paths away from the nobility and likely to one of those clover leafs of the station to indeed secure a meal.
Which leaves Arthur there with the three Amazons.
"I think, if you're going to do a statue, something symbolic." He turns and then stands beside Diana, to get the same view as he ponders that central location. "Like... a rocket taking flight."
He considers, then adds, "Or the Star Trek symbol swooshing upwards?"
Then his lip twists, "Or the Tazmanian Devil in a space suit?"

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana watches the other diplomat make his leave, and she offers him a warm smile as he goes. The other Amazons just stare kind of blankly before they look to Arthur. Then Diana regards Arthur as he steps to stand beside her. She remains there with her fingers together and palms pressing lightly to each other.

"Star Trek, hmm?" She asks. "Well... you were not here when we had William Shatner giving a speech about space last week." She tells him then. "It was very inspiring. He is a lovely man." She adds with a little grin.

"You helped make this possible, you know?" She tells the Seaborne Hobo, as her eyes roam around again. She moves her hands to her sides and takes a step toward the large fountain's edge. "We are making finishing touches on team rotundas now, with even some underwater labs available, and an underwater area for visitors. It should be truly a great place, to get a taste of all our cultures, before visitors to the planet set out to actually see the world itself." She looks back to him then. "I am sure you are quite excited." She teases.

Arthur Curry has posed:
"Seriously?" Arthur asks sidelong, eyebrows climbing once again. "I missed that? Man, that stinks. He seems pretty great." But still he stands there, pondering what the world could look like and what shape it might take. How they each change it as they can.
Then when she tells him that he helped make this possible she can almost instantly see the discomfort in his eyes. Then in his body language as he shifts his weight to the other work boot he's wearing. Not exactly in his best finery, but better than normal. He's wearing canvas pants, a blue t-shirt and over the t-shirt is a khaki long-sleeve shirt that's unbuttoned.
"Maybe a little bit." He admits grudgingly, "A tiny..." He holds up a hand, two fingers barely apart, "Smidge of a bit."
Then she teases him and he chortles subtly. "It's exciting, to be fair. It is." That last added as if she might doubt his words. "New era and all. A step forward instead of feeling like we're always playing catch up. It's a big deal."

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana's left side is illuminated by the sun that is on its way down for the early evening hours. She watches Arthur's response to her, and shows him a soft smile. "I know you are not one to make a big 'ceremony' of things." She tells him then. "This is why I have not pushed you to attend things, or actively participate in any of it. But... that is not to say that you are not always welcome to make appearances. The young people love you, after all. As do many of the older ones too." She teases him again with a hint of a grin.

Her eyes look away toward the northern clover platform where the team rotunda buildings reside. "I am eager to see more people from other teams spending time here together too. I feel that with a new era, we need to start a new way of getting to know each other beyond our typical spheres."

She looks back to him then and tilts her head just a little toward the left. "There is a pool table room. You will be able to challenge people. Who is the best heroic type at putting pool balls in to pool pockets." She says with her grin once more returning.

Arthur Curry has posed:
"Yeah that's an incentive." Arthur says in quick rejoinder to Diana's comment about playing pool and putting people in their place with his challenges! But he shakes his head then refers back to the words she gave earlier. "I think fewer young people are in love with me. At least in Atlantis."
He is never one to sit still for too long. Diana is his pool of peaceful calm as she enjoys the sunset, but Arthur... Arthur moves as he walks slowly around, turning to consider the Northern clover, then back to her. In her orbit, and at ease, but not at rest.
"There has been sentiment amongst some of the noble houses, or rather the youth of those houses. Riling kids up, teenagers, getting them angry about old grudges. Some cousins of mine got into trouble and I had to..."
He pauses as he looks toward that platform, then back to her partially over his shoulder. "Well, I had to bust their rears with my boot. Then take them back to their families. But it's..."
A chuff of an exhale, almost a scoff. "Times ago I'd be with them, telling them to fight the power. Though they've no idea what they're fighting for. Like I think they feel they missed the time when the fate of their world was decided. The good fight was fought. And now what's there to do?"
He crinkles his nose again, then adds. "Or they're just punks."

Diana Prince has posed:
What Arthur says has Diana showing a little smirk before her eyes dart down toward the ground in front of where she stands. When she raises her stare again, she lets a glance go to her sisters who stand 10 or so feet to the south east of them. A smile is shown to them, before she looks back to Arthur again.

"One element of Themysciran lifestyle is the, arguable, avoidance of youthful follies." She says in good spirit. "I shook that up a bit when I was little, but we have mostly avoided that as a people, due to the nature of our world... I enjoy seeing people grow up throughout the rest of the world though. Seeing them start so youthful, so headstrong, and ease in to being a mature person, hardened by their own experiences. I think the trick is just trying to get them the best number of experiences possible before the forging process is complete.... in to adulthood."

She takes in a breath then, and laughs softly. "Though, I do not know the ones you speak of. Perhaps they are just 'punks'." She tells him with a grin.

"But... I imagine they admire your guidance, if not now, they will later..."

Arthur Curry has posed:
"I dunno," Arthur says in that way one has where they're lost in their own internal monologue for a moment. His thoughts distanced on the Atlantean youths that had given him such a headache lately. But then he comes back to he here and now with a slight head shake before he turns back toward her. "I mean, hopefully you're right. I just..."
His lips twist then his eyes distance past her before he looks back, "Probably shouldn't be a dad considering I wanna throw those kids to the moon or something." Though it's unlikely he'd try that. He'd ask Karen to do it. Or Clark.
"And you?" He steps to her side and if she seems inclined he'll start to walk a little, but it's that slow leisurely pace where someone has nowhere to really get to. The enjoyment comes just from the company. "How do you fare with your own sproglings at the embassy?"

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana does indeed begin to walk along with Arthur as he initiates it. Now with the sun on her right side, she looks over to him on her left. When he asks that question there, she looks forward then. "Some troubles are still occuring that are a little taxing on my mood." She admits. "My sister, Donna... she has taken on such large amounts of responsibility in her still very young years. Leading the Titans, in to all of the wild things that they have gotten themselves in to, has been difficult to watch from afar. I trust her ability, but something has happened that has seemingly damaged her psyche. At least that is the perception we have from this point. It is still being looked in to. But yes, she would be an example of a 'young Amazon' that I certainly have my worries about. Maybe not on the same level as you, and yours, but still..."

Another glance is sent to him, a little smile shown. "Such is the way of our lives though, so it seems. We are still making the plans for a teleportation arch that will allow us to go to and from the Island with great ease... This will also be a game changer, as they say, should we accomplish it."

Arthur Curry has posed:
    "Seriously?"
Arthur asks that after she tells him about Donna's trials and he follows along as he can. It's weighty and it seems to be a dark path she's on, yet Aquaman's eyes widen as he tries to perhaps understand some of what he's told. "If she's taking on too much maybe one of the others can step in to lighten her load?"
His step is even and steady, slow as it's more of a stroll. He looks toward her, his eyes narrowing slightly as the light from the sun causes his gaze to tighten slightly. Though it casts her in a lovely halo. "It's hard to watch a love one walk into hard times. And when they're things that you can't do much about." He chews his lower lip thoughtfully then shakes his head.
"Let me know if there's anything I can do, though I doubt my own particular brand of punching would help." Since they tend to have that base covered.
Though the mention of a teleporter has him scowling slightly, "I dunno. I'm sort of with Dr. McCoy's opinion about teleporting. Sure it's convenient, a machine destroys your body and recreates it instantly. But that's still... like killing you and replacing you with a duplicate."

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana lightly laughs at the bit about the teleportation device. "I am not sure that is the way that they work in reality." She responds to him in good humor. "But, to be honest, I haven't asked either." She shows a larger smile over at him then.

Behind them, about fifteen feet back, the two tall Amazonian warrior women stride side by side, each carrying a polearm weapon at their sides as they keep watch over the Princess, and two more Amazons are on horses moving down one of the pathways up ahead... There are many here on the Starport site now.

"And Donna's situation is more than just stress... She has had her personality, her mind, swapped, with someone else's. It would seem a version of her that never grew up on Themyscira. It may be tied to some of the magic of some of her other Titan members though... It is all very... odd, as things ever are." She smirks faintly then, even if it is clear the situation troubles her.

Her stare goes back to him then. "So you are a big Star Trek fan then, hmm? Do you own a costume?" She asks now grinning again.

Arthur Curry has posed:
"Oh, that does sound odd." Arthur nods as he listens about poor Donna's situation. His hands sliding into the pockets of his canvas pants. He frowns a little, "I'd be..." He lifts his chin a little, then looks to her askance. "I'd be pretty angry. It'd feel like... I don't know, she was kidnapped? Or something."
Shaking his head he frowns. "Hard to wrap my head around it. I'll try not to stare next time we're all together."
But then it's her turn to stare at /him/ and she asks about the costume, which has him heave a weighty 'heh', as if he'd own such a thing. But then he says, "Yeah, that green Captain Kirk one with the sash and the gold inlay from when they were in the evil universe. I make that junk work." A nod is given, though chances are... he does not have such a costume.

Diana Prince has posed:
This causes Diana to laugh just softly, just a bit, like she's holding back a bigger laugh. When she looks back to him she pushes the smile down from her lips and cheeks. "I like the red skirt dresses that the crewmen wore. If, for some reason, I ever ended up at such a party, I would volunteer to wear one. I liked the style from that era of culture. I remember it fondly." She says with a big grin showing up for a second or two.

Then she looks ahead once more with her chin rising up just a little when a breeze washes over them both. "We will figure out what has happened to Donna though, and fix it. I am sure of that."

As they move down the gardens, they reach some of the fountains that are flowing water.

"That would be a good spot for a golden statue of me." Diana notes with a point toward the mirrored water pool beside them.

Arthur Curry has posed:
"So long as it's not near mine, then you should probably use silver." As he says that he scrunches his face up as if sharing with her that she would be making a subtle faux pas to not take his advice. But then he takes a step to the side, breaking that subtle connection when two people are one and then another splits off.
"I should go see what Telvin is up to and have my required noble meal." Though it does not seem like he is looking too too forward to such a thing. But then it occurs to him, "Would you like to come along? I'm sure they'd have enough for you."
A pause then he looks off behind her to those who hovered, "And your entourage." His lips twist, as he laces that last word with some negativity, as if to display how big for her britches she's gotten. For shame.

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana laughs in a melodic, lilting, sort of way. She glances over her shoulder at her sisters, before she looks back to him with a grin. "They are not assigned to me, you know." She tells him then. "They just wanted to see you up close, and get a better look at you." She informs him in a mischievous sort of way that makes it hard to tell if she is being serious or not!

With a lingering smile, Diana laces her fingers together again while they walk, though she pauses when they reach the end of the pathway here.

"Take him to the Long John Silvers in the food court. I bet he will love it." She jests, of course, as is her nature when she's in a good mood.

Arthur Curry has posed:
"Oh I'm sure." Though he does spare a smile for the guardswomen, pained it may be, but a friendly wave is given. Though his attention remains mainly on Diana. "But hey, LJ's is good chicken. Used to eat that stuff when I was..."
For a moment Arthur's eyes distance, then his brows climb as he murmurs. "When I was eleven? Man time flies." Then he's turning around and starting to walk off in the general direction that Telvin wandered. Over his shoulder he waves, "Talk to you later, Princess."
