Training Program, Part Two
Date of Scene: 02 June 2022
Location: The Velvet Room - Training Room
Synopsis: No description
Cast of Characters: Jonathan Sims, Gabby Kinney

Jonathan Sims has posed:
Last week, Jon found a "training program" that seemed to come with the training room or had already been programmed in. The bottom level is a huge lobby of sorts, with concentric gold rings and white-and-black checkered tiles on the floor, high pillars, and windows showing a strange green sky outside. The only other feature of the room is a huge clock with a door in its face, about 20 feet up. A long staircase leads up to the door... and that's it.

Jon's standing there with a slightly distant gaze, wings out and circlet on, frowning at what appears to be a giant screen hovering in front of him. The screen is fuzzy and the picture keeps cutting out, but it /looks/ like it shows a gloody, greenly-lit hallway.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
There were times Gabby would find places other than just the sitting room or the library to visit. In vact, she tried to visit each room at least once per visit to the Velvet Room proper to judge if anything much had changed. It's this little circuit of rooms that has her come in as Jon stands in front of whatever training program he had managed to find.

Curious she steps up beside him tilting her head at the 'screen' that was there a bit confused. It didn't make much sense to her. Maybe it did to him? Looking up to the side she asks, "Sooo what's this about anyway? Another thing like the doors?"

Jonathan Sims has posed:
Jon doesn't really jump at Gabby's presence, but he does blink and then grins over at her. "Sort of? The other day I asked the Velvet Room for something that could help train a wide variety of people, and adjust to our ability level, and it gave me... this." He waves a hand. "Called it the 'Tartarus Training Program, Thebel Block.'"

He points at the door. "Up on the second floor, there's a series of dark hallways with weird shadowy blobs that become... strange monsters. Cael and Lydia and I went up there and fought some of them. Relatively easy, but it /was/ the first floor."

A nod to the screen. "I noticed I can kind of... feel the space up there? See it, sort of? So I'm trying to figure out... I /think/ maybe if people went up there to train I could stay down here and act as... mmmm... mission support?"

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney considers it all thoughtfully though the words put together like that don't really mean a whole lot to her. "I know of Tartarus. I mean I read comics," she points out with a little grin before she allows herself to focus a more on the door in front of her. Following the direction of his pointing hand she peers up at taking it all in. Even if it wasn't much.

"Sounds a bit like the danger rooooooookay that's probably not knowledge I should be spreading." Clearing her throat lightly she reaches up to cup her chin. "Yeah, see there's this training room I know of that uses holographic hard light or something... All technological. But." Gesturing toward the screen in front of Jon she points out, "That sounds similar. I wonder if this is just a magical version of it instead of technological. If that's the case then you should be able to create any scenario you want to toss people into."

Another look is sent back toward the door. "Or maybe this is more random."

Jonathan Sims has posed:
"Well the training room /itself/ is like that, yes. For instance..." Jon looks around and then says, "Can I please have the sparring room from the time Chas and Robbie fought?"

The surroundings shift, briefly, to be a large open room with mats on the floor and weapons on the walls, sort of a dojo. Jon says, "Alright, back to Tartarus," and the room shifts again.

"See? But this was already programmed in, it looks like."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney watches as the room changes around only for her to stare longer, and let out a soft 'Huh' when it swaps back over. "So this is... Whatever training the prior resident used. Or the resident before them." She's taken a step away to begin walking to the side examining this 'Tartarus' thing. It wasn't as if she could see anything special like the others could. Maybe in a place where magic was so prevailant regular eyes would see more.

"Well," she reasons as she looks back over with a grin. "Guess the only way to find out is to go inside, right? If you've got to monitor maybe we should get a few others to go in." Because she has a feeling if she were to suggest jumping in alone then he would reject the notion outright.

Jonathan Sims has posed:
"The first level doesn't seem so bad if you wanted to go check it out. I'm intending to gather a few people and dive in deeper, but..." Jon frowns. "I suppose going in /alone/ isn't a /great/ idea. But we could go up there together, maybe? I could see if this screen works up in there."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
"Oh, well, if you insist," Gabby responds with a wry grin as her hands flex a few times feeling the sensation of her claws still sheathed. "Let's give it a try then. I'll resist making any curseable statements like 'what could go wrong.'" Well that just ruined things likely.

Striding forward she reaches for the door and pauses to glance back over her shoulder at Jon. "Together or... I'm used to taking lead, but I guess we haven'te really fought together more than once before."

Jonathan Sims has posed:
Jon considers a moment, then flies up to follow Gabby up the stairs. "I'll come along, but I'll hang back and let you do the fighting unless you get in trouble. I want to see how this works."

The door at the top of the clock has a counter on it now: "2."
