Cast of Characters: Ted Kord, Joan Wright

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord had quickly created a small, well, a plank leading off his roof. The bots all watched with interest except Bobo who was being subjected to a full charge and Level 5 diagnostics. Phase one was completed. Time now for Phase two.

"Joan? Joan!! Come out here. I'm ready for you. Joan? Joan!! Come ON!! You think I'd take any chances with you? My everything. Joan get out here!"

Joan Wright has posed:
The door to the Penthouse is slightly ajar. Who left it that way is currently unknown but it does help with Ted's efforts to get the architect's attention. Whether or not said architect wishes to acknowledge that she heard him is another matter as she currently debates on whether or not to actually step outside. But the assurance he gives is too much to ignore.

"WHY AREN'T YOU DOING THIS INSTEAD?!" A voice shouts back through the open door.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord watches as the bots who were looking at hm turn to look at the open door and then turn to look at him.

"Cut it out. You guys are freaking me out," he mutters.

"I do this crap on a daily basis. I want to demonstrate a non-super person can use this system! Or... you can also use the scarab... for triple redundancy... besides... I CALLED the Lego store. The bill you rang up staggered Melissa. A deal is a deal! Get out here. Bobo will be back online any minute, this needs to be convincing. Bobo is smarter than the o... than even I predicted!" Wow, nearly pissed off nine tenths of his AIs.

"Come on, bunny, it'll be fine. I got you out of worse situations than this when I didn't know what the hell I w... would do if anything happened to you."

Joan Wright has posed:
At the suggestion of using the scarab, Joan narrows her eyes at the door. "If I USE the scarab that'd ju-" She pauses. Right.

The LEGOs.

Ok she needs help.

Giving a grumble she steps out, the rings of the harness sticking out. "...What was I thinking?" She asks herself lowly.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord steps out of the way to let her mount the plank, then notes the rings sticking out. He starts sticking them in, a ticklish procedure attaching a nearly invisible line to each ring. "This is resist weave and too fine for his optics to spy in the twilight. Don't worry, it can support several tons and you weigh... not nearly that much!" Is that sweat on his upper lip?

"Bobo has to think this is real to fly down and grab you. The lines will stop your fall, the building has safety nets I can deploy to catch you -that's actually fun, I tried it. I'm standing by with my aero-disks, and numbers Two through Bailey, and of course Bobo who will think this is real. Have you been drinking?" He holds her arms and looks at her quizzically.

Joan Wright has posed:
Joan fidgests a bit as the rings brush about in their way of being hidden away from Bobo. As soon as the horrid 'w' word comes out, Joan's eyes narrow as she looks over to Ted. The hasty retreat is noted and Joan gives a small nod.

That's right.

Some topics are forbidden.

The question to her sobriety makes her frown. "TED!" Joan snaps.

The words are not clear but the expression flashed his way is sufficient enough.

How DARE he suggest she would drink when on task.

Prettending to fall to one's doom is serious business.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord squints and then says, "Ah too bad, a good stiff belt would help you go limp... not that you need to... well you know, usual amount of limpness. Oh hey Bobo is back online! Hey buddy... how you doing? Diagnostic went well... oh gee! Joan! Look out!" He gives a small head jerk and then a little sigh and discretely shoves her off the plank. "Oh dear!"

Beetle Operation Bot 01 doesn't have time to wonder at his siblings not moving. A glitch in programing perhaps. He roars into action.

Ted goes over the side but lets Bobo take the lead, getting out of his way.

Joan Wright has posed:
It is true. Joan missed her cue. But ever helpful Ted helped with the process and now she's falling.

Ok time to sell it.

"AUUUGGGGHH!"

Man, Joan is really good.

Or the fact she's plummeting down the side of the building is sufficient motivation for the 'OH MY GOD I'M GOING TO DIE!' notes coming out of her mouth. Flailing arms are thrown.

Man. Joan is REALLY in character.

Crap. Now she's upside down.

Ted Kord has posed:
And like that Bobo reaches Joan first. His manipulators extend and wrap around her arms. Grapples snap out and extend to belt her at the waist. The lines give him a slight problem, until he fires up the thrusters and melts them. After slowing her fall Bobo overs in place to run a diagnostic and check Joan's status.

She lost a pound. Bobo is pretty sure it wasn't due to him.

Ted flies by Bobo and gives a whoop!

"That's great! I don't even have to deploy the safety nets. SHIT!" The tell tale for his voice operated systems lights up in his goggles. <<Nets Deploying>> the Hud reads. He starts to hit the brakes, but not soon enough, as the nets snap out below, but far too close for him to stop. In fact, he tears though the net, though another series of nets snaps out below that. He crashes into a net, bounces and lays there, stunned.

Joan Wright has posed:
"Woah-WOAH-WOAH!" Joan is definitely not liking the fall but the sight of Bobo catching up is very much a source of relief. She didn't even have time to yell louder as the slight flashes of light where the thin lines break away hint to the loss of the backup plan. It's ok because Bobo is now seatbelting her.

When her downward descent stops, she gives a relieved sigh. "Oh go-" She breathes deeply. "Thank you Bobo."

The blur of blue flying by makes Joan tilt her head down, eyes widening as Ted ends up breaking through one of the nets. "TED!" Joan screams out, starting to panic for another reason. Before the second net smacks him.

The shoult of concern soon twists into a mirthful laugh at the billionaire's expense.

Ted Kord has posed:
Say what you want about the Blue Beetle, he recovers fast from getting the hard knocks. He lifts his head and shakes it, making a sound very much like "Wugga-wugga-wugga." He gets his bearings and sits up. He blinks as Bobo drops down with Joan near him. The bot seems to glare a moment and then flies her back to the penthouse.

Joan Wright has posed:
Safe in the manipulators of Bobo, Joan ends up flying up to the penthouse. The change in direction is an improvement on a few fronts. One, it means Joan is not dying which leads to Two- Joan's mood is a lot more improved the further up they go. And as Bobo and Joan disappear from Ted's sight just the slightest sound from Joan filters to his ears.

"Whee!"
