Doing Some Good Deeds Mutant Style
Date of Scene: 11 June 2022
Location: Hope House
Synopsis: Jamie and the Dupes provide lots of manual labor helping Kitty drop off goods to homeless in Mutant Town.
Cast of Characters: Jamie Madrox, Kitty Pryde

Jamie Madrox has posed:
Bringing supplies to those in need is one of the things that Jamie Madrox is particularly good at. There are very few people who can load and unload a truck faster than more efficiently than the Multiple Man. Maybe one of the Flashes or Quicksilver, but that's a lot more boring than what's going on now:

Just a dozen or so copies of Jamie unloading a truck, some of them taking the boxes _through the wall_ of the truck, because he thought to bring very, very useful company.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde stands in the wall of the truck. Reaching out to a Jamie carrying a box to get him through the side of the truck, letting go once he's clear. Grabbing another to shorten his return trip.

"I mean I can do more than this. You know. Lift stuff. All, gruff and grr, and muscly," she says, taking a moment to flex an arm when it's not needed to reach out to bestow some phasing on a passing Jamie. It's a nicely toned arm, without doubt, and the short sleeve shirt shows that nicely. But not particularly thickly muscled. Just nicely shaped.

"So if one of you is all sweaty from work, and then you merge him back in, but you were sipping lemonade in the air conditioning, do you start sweating too?" she asks curiously.

Jamie Madrox has posed:
"Uh huh," the closest Jamie says, reaching up to squeeze her bicep. "Hot." He takes a box and makes off, while another comments on her question: "Depends. If it's two dupes merging because we split that way, it evens out. If it's Prime, then he might feel a little bit like he worked up a sweat but the actual transference is lower. That's why we can all get in a fight and then just merge back in. Though if we're hurt, not so much."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty grins at the bicep squeeze. "Well, does Jamie Prime get the benefit of the workout? I mean can one of you go run a marathon and he'll work off some of that gut paunch- er, ah, I mean, he'll get the cardiovascular benefits of it?" she asks, lips pulled back in a grin at the intentional misspeak.

As the last of the boxes get picked up, Kitty helps those Jamies through the truck wall and then hops down lithely after them to head inside. "Be some happy people. Or at least, well fed ones," she comments of the food and other staples they are bringing, like blankets, hygiene products and the like. "Now we get the fun of distributing it."

Jamie Madrox has posed:
"Actually, no," the nearest Jamie says as he hefts a box and heads towards the inside of the place. "Energy spent is energy spent," he explains. "Buuuuuuuut, _creating_ duplicates requires _some_ energy; enough to pull the matter from the other dimension where we get it. so if Prime really wants to lose some extra pounds, he can go on a massive multiplying spree, tell us to run some laps, and then reabsorb us. It's also the reason he doesn't eat junkfood and whatnot. We do it, then he experiences it retroactively." He. We. I. It's very weird to have conversations with Jamie Madrox, but Kitty manages.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde has known Jamie long enough to have gotten used to the odd pronoun usage. Though it took awhile. And frankly the teenaged girl was quite fascinated with him, and at the age she was when they first met, she'd ask him do all kind of things that were amusing. At least to her. Before she'd finally settled into the fact the Dupes were every bit as much of people as Jamie was.

She gives a Jamie's back a little rub on her way past, and then picks up a box to do her part. "I heard they have a hard time keeping the water on," she comments. "So the water bottles should come in handy there, make sure they can fill up when it's running, or somewhere else if they need," she says, eyeing a collapsible such bottle.

She heads over to the first door on the first floor, knocking. After a few moments it opens up enough for someone to peek out. Kitty has the box already open to show the contents. "Hello. We brought some food, and water. Some blankets and toilet paper and other things," she says of the care package. It causes the door to open up, a man in his twenties who looks like he's had a rough time of it, eyeing her and the box. "Just wanting to help out," she says as she offers it to him to take.

Down the hall another door opens as someone inside heard her words, looking out.

Jamie Madrox has posed:
The Jamies look up when the door opens and they all tilt their chins up and smile at the man opening the door, throwing a wink his way. That's a lot of winks. "HEY," they say in unison, an assortment of chortles rippling out across the crowd of dupes.

"Sorry. There's a lot of us. We can take a look at any plumbing, electrical, gas-type stuff you might need help with, too. We're certified!"

Kitty Pryde has posed:
The person at the second door is more obviously a mutant. He has green skin, and gills on his throat. His fingers are webbed, and as he hears the Jamie, he replies, "Plumbing? Can you fix the water so I can fill the bathtub at least?" he asks. His eyes blink, though the eyelids instead of being top and bottom, end up being left and right, closing from either side.

Meanwhile Kitty is handing over the box to the first homeless man. "Thanks a lot," he tells her, going through it with a hand, digging to see what all is in it. He pulls out a can of spaghetti, and Kitty says, "There's a can opener in there somewhere. And a few cans of sterno, just be really careful not to burn anything down," she offers.

He nods and takes it, going back inside and closing the door. Kitty moves over to join Jamie Prime. How did she pick him out anyway?

Jamie Madrox has posed:
"I can try," says one of the dupes, grinning and ambling over to the webbed-fingered kid. "Might be hard if your water's cut off but I'm pretty sure we can find a work-around for a bit at least. Show me where you got your tools."

"Show us where we can put all the rest of this stuff," one of the other dupes says, as the others start to shift under the weight of the boxes.

Jamie Prime looks at Kitty and raises a brow, nudging her with his shoulder. "Hey, there."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde slips an arm around Jamie Madrox's shoulders after he nudges her. "Thanks for coming and doing this," she tells him warmly. "Many hands making light work, and all," she says with a warm grin for him. Jamie also earns a quick peck on the cheek.

She looks at the other Dupes who are already heading up the stairs with the boxes. "So you need to come by the school. We're... well not quite sure what we're going to do. We were talking about a water slide, or maybe a tug of war and a mud pit. It's going to be something to help everyone unwind a bit," she says.

Jamie Madrox has posed:
"Sounds like fun to me," Jamie says, swinging his own arm around Kitty's shoulders and then leading her towards the door. The dupes will stick around, make sure plumbing, electrical, gas, and any other handwork gets done, as well as the managing and distribution of things... eventually, they'll start remerging with each other until there's a third of them, and then they'll make their way back to the office, where he'll absorb them.

"You gonna wear something skimpy for the waterslide?" He grins at her.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty snorts in response to the question. "Of course," she says. "What's the point of a waterslide if not to show off in a bikini?" she asks. She glances at Jamie and then asks the question back at him. "You?" she asks with a gleam in her eyes.

She follows him back out to the truck. "Got it from a rental place here so we don't have to drive it all the way back to Westchester," she tells him of the small panel truck. "Just can drop it off." There's the subway and then bus to get back to Westchester for her, or Jamie has of course his detective agency in town.
