Fine Dining Around the Elephant in the Room
Date of Scene: 16 June 2022
Location: Carrion Cove
Synopsis: No description
Cast of Characters: Tom McCarthy, Lorna Dane

Tom McCarthy has posed:
There had been a discussion the other evening - something about North Korea and rescuing some refugees. A discussion about Genosha housing those mutants who needed shelter, and the potential political backlash it could cause. It was both ignored and paid attention to by Tom - some things cannot be helped. Plausible deniability is good. Wanting to save lives is better.

Thankfully, he wasn't totally distrusted - but he's sure his presence wasn't soothing to Mystique, either.

The next night, dinner! Tom was clearly enjoying his time with Lorna, and dinner was always a good time. As he arrived again at the palace, he offered a smile to her. "You know, this sort of dinner date is going to spoil me." He winks to her.

Lorna Dane has posed:
"Well I rather thought I owed you a 'redo' after the other night. So maybe a little spoiling isn't bad," Lorna points out with a warm grin as she welcomes him in with an tip of her head. "Nothing too fancy tonight. Just some mushroom ravioli and salad. I hope you don't mind, it's been rather hot here today. I didn't really want anything heavy." Of course it may not be the same for him. "There's plenty of garlic bread though in case you've more an appetite than me," she assures.

Turning to lead the way toward the already loaded table she glances over her shoulder at him. "I do want to apologize for the other night. I had no idea that particular topic would be brought up." Pressing her lips together tight she shakes her head a single time. "It rather caught me by surprise to be honest. I wasn't aware such operations were going on. It just serves to remind me again that The Brotherhood is indeed it's own entity."

Tom McCarthy has posed:
The man smiles, chuckling a bit. "I appreciate the sentiment. It's truly not necessary, Lorna. Life will happen, especially when you're a monarch." Tom winks to her, with a shrug. "That sounds good, a light meal. And I don't think I could ever pass up garlic bread, truth be told."

Tom follows with her, chuckling at the sight of the already loaded table. "They trust you, they want your blessing. I am sure Mystique could have done this without your or Genosha's involvement - but they trust you as a friend and leader." A smile to her. "And covert entities do what they do, it's in the nature of the business." There's a wry grin from Tom. "I thought it was an interesting time to explain our relationship, though."

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna Dane clears her throat slightly at the mention of their relationship being brought up. Queen or not she finds herself turning a bit red-faced over it and she does her best to hide it while she sinks down into a seat. Only to lean her head into her hand peeking at him from between her fingers. "You have no idea the rumor mill that would have been working if I hadn't explained. It's already going to be bad." The hand falls away to sit up straighter while her gaze dlips down to the tabletop.

"I hope I wasn't presuming too much. I do enjoy spending time with you a great deal, Tom." Though nothing more had really been discussed after all. It was a bit out of the blue to bring that up.

Tom McCarthy has posed:
Tom clearly admires the blush on the Queen, taking his seat once she's settled. "I don't mind at all." He grins, shrugging a bit as he places a napkin in his lap. "I just hope they won't disapprove of me." He admits honestly. "I can only imagine that some people aren't necessarily fond of my affiliation, and some might not be all that fond of my genetics." It's said without malice or spite.

"People change, but it takes time." A grin. "And the Brotherhood has made huge steps in the direction they have chosen. I don't suspect that everyone loves humans, though. Too much bad blood and too many people being problems on my side."

"Anyway... I think dating is appropriate. Though it may get my hopes of for a goodnight kiss." He teases her/

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna Dane reaches over to take hold of his hand to give it a fond squeeze. "People change, in time, and with good examples to encourage them to change. As for them approving. Well that's more up to us, I would think." An amused grin comes and she adds, "Though it would be good if they did, yes. Now." Squeezing his hand again she clears her throat. "Dinner before it gets too cold. I'm starving."
