Investigating Bane's Organization
Date of Scene: 24 June 2022
Location: Alleyways - Mutant Town
Synopsis: Buster and Hex get their records checked.
Cast of Characters: Cheyenne Brawley, Valerie Killmore, Samuel Guthrie

Cheyenne Brawley has posed:
The aromas of hot garbage and cannabis smoke blend in the stifling, still air of one of Bushwick's back alleys. A group of teenagers sit on the lowest level of a wroughtiron fire escape, joking and rapping together, surrounded by empty cans and broken bottles.
Cheyenne Brawley rounds the corner and stands like a black-clad silhouette in the dingy shadow; he is led by a young boy, whostops in his tracks and points at the older kids - Buster hands him a folded bill, and the boy scampers off with a big smile. The Texan looks over his shoulder and says in a low voice, "Don't scare them too much, OK?"

Valerie Killmore has posed:
Hot garbage? That's actually a rather good sign, Hex is over there leaning over the garbage bin and sort of sniffing at it. Looking around, she's offering, "I think they've got a nice hole in the wall around here. Probably... pasta, and cookies, that's a strange combination. Oh, wait, there's also an ice cream shop, pretty sure..." She lifts up one of her feet with a bit of ice cream cone sticking to the bottom, "Yep." Shaking her head, "Litterers, blow'em all up."

Then she looks over to Buster, "Huh? Don't scare whooooo?" She's not been paying attention, just following the man.

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie was checking in at the precinct when he heard some rumors from the beat ponders about some thugs hanging around a specific alleyway and he has nothing else to do today. The beat cops may think it is not worth them checking out, but Sam could use some practice doing the whole officer thing, so he makes sure he has his badge and gun stowed on him, but not easily spotted and headed that way. Which brings him walking up to said alley as he sees the smiling kid sampering, he will head that way but tries to remain unseen for now.

Cheyenne Brawley has posed:
"I'll buy you lunch at the hole-in-the-wall later, Hex, come on." Buster saunters toward the group of teens, hands in his pockets; as he approaches, one of the boys does an uptilt of his chin, alerting the others. All together, the teens stand and array themselves in a crescent, quiet and closed off, several with their arms folded - one of them, in the process, displays a tattooed symbol on his left bicep: a pair of sinister eyes wearing a gas mask.
"Howdy fellers," says the Texan in his casual drawl. "Y'all sellin' today?"
"What are you buying?" replies one of the older boys, eyes narrowed. He spares a glance for Valerie, looks back to Buster as if to ascertain whether the two are together, evidently decides they couldn't be, and calls to her in a loud voice: "Bums aren't allowed around here. Take a hike, before you get jumped."

Valerie Killmore has posed:
The officer goes completely unnoticed by Hex. She's not Supergirl, and definitely not Wolverine, so she's got the senses of basically any other distracted 18 year old woman. Though the offer of buying something when there's perfectly good trash right in front of her gets a bit of a shrug, "Your wasted dough."

The walk forward gets her stretching her legs in an exaggerated first few steps as she elongates her stride as much as possible to just keep up, but it's true, she is getting distracted in this alley and is investigating more there than looking ahead.

The teens calling her a bum, or at least shouting in her general direction, gets her perked up. But her eyes get a little wider, and she blinks, then backs up a step, a faster step, and she's running straight into a dumpster, stumbling a few steps forward as she hit it unexpectedly. "What? Me? You..." Looking to the left, then she winces hard like there's some kind of loud static sound hitting her, then she looks to the right, "No, no, mister, it ain't me you are looking for. I promise, I got nothing, nothin' you'd want." Her eyes start bouncing left right left right, wince.

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie will watch down the alley pulling his phone out to get a pic of the people down here but keeps in the shadows. He waits to see what happens, he would rather tag the sellers than the buyer, but right now, he is hoping the girl may leave so there is not an innocent in the middle of this.

Cheyenne Brawley has posed:
"Information," says the Texan, after a glance over his shoulder - he seems confused by Hex's antics, but doesn't motion toward her. Buster points to his bicep, eyes on the oldest boy's tattoo. "I'm lookin' for a good cause to join." He hasn't noticed Sam, either.

Valerie Killmore has posed:
Pausing in her fit, of whatever it is, Hex stops. Looks around, reaches up a hand to her face and breathes into it, holding her entire palm just over her face as she pants into it. Heavy, quick breathing until she's regained some sense of what's happening around her, letting her eyes look between her fingers she stands back upright.

Then she's starting to walk forward, squinting, "You. Yooooooou. Oh, first it's make fun of the girl, why?" She steps to the side, clasps her hands together and gets an innocent looking expression on her face, "Ohhhh, cause she has blue hair. Blue blue blue, so true!" She reverts back to standing upright, her voice seemingly getting angrier as she's gaining back her composure.

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie frowns a bit but will head in a bit closer. He considers heading to the rooftop to watch but stays on ground level behind one of the dumpsters seeming more reporter than cop perhaps

Cheyenne Brawley has posed:
"Invitation only," says the oldest boy with a scowl. He looks past Buster, to Hex, and spits in her direction. "Back off bitch, while you still can." His attention returns to the Texan. "You too. Otherwise, your ghost will haunt the Hudson."
Buster issues a long sigh. "Bad attitude won't get you anywhere in life, son." He turns, walks to an alley wall, and leans against it with his arms crossed. With an eye on the bluenette, he smirks.

Valerie Killmore has posed:
"Bitch?!" As if it were the worst possible insult ever to be given anyone. Hex rolls her eyes, and grins, that kind of half grin smirk with her head tilted slightly forward, eyes only partially visible at the angle. "That's skinny lil' bitch, to you."

And Hex steps forward, quick, for a regular person it may seem more like a blur, as she comes to a normal speed again after cracking the mouthy alley guy in the jaw with a quick upward punch, lifting him into the air a bit with the force. She doesn't keep her hands on him so he'll be free to go crumpling to the ground.

"Better... haha, run. Haha. While you can... or... you, or you or YOU!" she looks around at far more people than are present in her field of view.

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie frowns a bit as the lady seems a bit crazy but the well dressed man is looking over to her calmly. Is this all a show, what information is he looking for? Is he trying to stake out some territory for himself. More and more questions

Cheyenne Brawley has posed:
The oldest boy lands in a writhing fetal position, shrieking through his hands as blood pours between his lips. Three of his five comrades produce pistols from their pockets while the other two take the woman's advice in a panic, the first clamboring up the fire escape, and the second sprinting along the wall and further into the alleyway. Aiming at Hex haphazardly in haste, the three remaining teens each pull the trigger. Pop. Pop. Pop.
"Put your peashooters away, kiddos," says Buster, raising an index finger and pressing it against his check, expression mildly disgusted. "She's much too fast for that..."

Valerie Killmore has posed:
The guns come up and the between the poor aiming and Hex moving her body quick enough to be a hard target to pinpoint she's growling. Reaching out she grabs one of the guns and just squeezes it, crushing it, and then pauses. She looks at the weapon she's crushing and her eyes perk up, she reaches forward with her other hand and rips out the hammer mechanism with a few twists, and turns, "One moment. I'll get back to beating you up, in just... one... moment." And then with a metal tearing sound she's pulled it free and brings it up to her eyes to look it over, "Yep, this will be perfect."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie frowns and as their is gunfire, he has to bring into action. He will take out the gunman on the fire escape with a blast assister leap, to hit the guy while he aint looking and hopefully take him out before anyone realizes what the dull roar of his momentary blast field was.

Cheyenne Brawley has posed:
One gunman disarmed, a second ambushed by Sam's sudden attack, the third teen's arms just go slack, pistol dropping to the garbage juice-stained asphalt; she blinks and legs it deeper into the alley, grabbing the wrist of the boy whose firearm was crumpled by Valerie.
"So much for that," says the Texan with another sigh. Somehow, the combination of adrenaline and focused attention means that he isn't particularly surprised by the officer's sudden appearance. "Thanks for tryin' to help," he mutters in a sarcastic tone.

Valerie Killmore has posed:
Mostly, now, holding onto this torn ripped metal piece from a gun, Hex looks around a little more doe eyed. "So, why are we here, again?" And she holds up the hammer portion again, this time between both of her index fingers so her thumb isn't in the way, and closes one eye to get a better look with the other one. Then she's holding it up so the limited light can shine about it, as she's grinning, "You know that cow laser I've been working on? I think this will work great for that. I've been wondering how I'd get the rotating chair to lock in place, and the broom stick wasn't doing it alone."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie will pull out his badge hanging it around his neck once he has the guy in zip cuffs. He is in his civis but does seem to have some of his work items on him. He secure the man so he can not run off, and with a vault and landing on the dumpster and then the ground he will ask "Yea, why are you here?" He asks,, and says "Officer Guthrie." He introduces himself not seeming worried about them causing problems even the quick seeming crazy girl.

Cheyenne Brawley has posed:
"Trying to get a lead on Bane's organization," says the Texan as he saunters closer to the bluenette. "A couple weeks ago, he came here with a whole posse and tried to impose a curfew on Mutant Town. Blasted a bunch of rounds in the air, threatened innocent people and whatnot - I wanna put a stop to it. Tiny said they wouldn't be a problem no more, but I'm not so sure, because I keep hearing about these goons around the burrow." He tips the bill of his cap to Sam and adds, "I'm Buster, and this here," he indicates Valerie with the jerk of a thumb, "is Hex."
Meanwhile, the broken-jawed hooligan has been quietly edging a hand closer to the abandoned pistol. In a rapid series of motions he snatches it up, thrusts it in the direction of the woman's midsection, and pulls the trigger with a roar.

Valerie Killmore has posed:
"Riiiiiiiiiiiight." Hex says, looking at this thing she's found like it were gold wrapped in platinum. She even reaches out with her tongue to take a quick lick of it, and then winces, pulling away a moment, "Yuck." Then she's wiping it on her pant leg and just holding it in a hand. On the best of days women's clothing has bad pockets, but her just-stepped-out-of-hot-yoga-class clothes don't even have those.

Pausing though, she wonders, "Cause, shooting into the air isn't pretty much wasting bullets?" Trying to add on to Buster's thoughts, but then she spins around, letting her long hair wiggle and whip about as she waves, "Hex. I'm a finder and inventor of things. You look like you're a cop. You know, I have only had the best of experience with cops. You all seem to have very nice vans at your disposal..." As she's talking the broken-jawed hooligan approaches, attempting to put a gun against her and pull the trigger, and it looks like he may well succeed.

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie will step in front of Hex, and there is a glow around his body with that slight roar again as he hovers there a moment the bullet hitting his blast field, and flattening against it not seeming to hurt the young man at all. He shakes his head and will place a kick to the man's hand to send the gun flying away "You gotta be one dumb son of a ..." He says as he will drop the field and move to restrain the fellow.

Cheyenne Brawley has posed:
The Texan tenses, ready to leap and tackle Hex out of the line of fire, but he's slow on the draw, and Sam gets there first. He abruptly relaxes and huffs: "I guess you're gonna take him in for questioning; will you let me have a crack at him first?"
Side-eying the bluenette, he subtly points to a spot on his chest, mirroring Sam's hanging badge, then points to Hex with a brow raised along with a thumb, as if to ask 'are the two of you gonna get along OK?'.

Valerie Killmore has posed:
For Hex's part, she doesn't really notice the gun man or the shooting. She just hummphs, "Right, don't say hello to the person who says hi to you. Why bother talking to the GIRL? Right? She's new, all the kids hate her." She mutters to herself there at the end, and squats to the ground, holding her hand out and looking at the metal piece she's got, tapping at it, flipping it over. Looking up and over her shoulder, "Why would I not get along with a cop? They're good people. Who doesn't like a good day spent in a cell, with hot coffee just out of reach? It's like they know my kinks." Standing up she holds up what she got though to Buster, smiling, "And besides, I got what I came for."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie 's brow raises and he will have to check into the lady a bit more later. He looks over to Buster and says "Well sounds like she has had a few run ins, don't know is she was in the wrong or they were, but for now unless Ah have a reason to have an issue with her Ah aint. As for asking him questions, you can for 5 minutes as I read his buddy his rights, but no excessive force."

Cheyenne Brawley has posed:
Buster grins and leans closer to inspect Hex's prized doodad. "Cool beans, gal. Is the owcay aserlay getting close to completion?" He waggles his brows and moves to pull the broken-jawed hooligan aside, but the teen, having heard the Texan's intention, and having a broken jaw, adopts the most defiant expression. Cheyenne dismisses him with a wave. "Alas, Hexie-blue, I didn't get what I was lookin' for, but c'est la vie."

Valerie Killmore has posed:
Nodding her head, Hex mentions, "I've got a command chair and a rotating tread for it already." And then she tucks away the piece again, basically folding her hand over it and holding it in her fist so no one can take it. "You didn't? If you want to find this Bane guy, why not just, stage something he'd want to bust up, then Busterhim? Or, ask him to get coffee at one in the morning, and then when he shows up, and you aren't there, he'll be angry, wondering if it was you or him, or you, or him." And she's lifting her hands up, to indicate who she's talking about, then putting the opposite down, before she throws them into the air, "And then he'll get so angry, he'll HAVE to come find you." A pause, she breathes a little, and then shrugs, "Just a thought."

Cheyenne Brawley has posed:
Stroking the point of his beard, Buster hmms. "Somehow, I think that's unlikely to work on Bane. He seems to have some, uh, peculiar social issues." Making note of Hex's pocketlessness predicament, he adds as an afterthought: "Would you like a utility belt?"

Valerie Killmore has posed:
Looking down at her beltless waist, Hex shakes her head and smiles, "Nope. I have a belt, I just, left it back at my lab. It's got a lot of utility, though it isn't specifically itself a utility belt." She offers and just fiddles with, unable to stop playing with the broken part that she had, and starts pacing back and forth. "I'm nearly positive I could work in a way to get to talk to Bane. Maybe we could rob a bank together, or whatever it is he does? Take over a city together, yeah, we could do that. I'm great at planning sieges."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie will finish reading the guys rights to him and luckily returns after the mention of robbing a bank so does not hear this. He looks tot he two you finished with this guy?"

Cheyenne Brawley has posed:
Buster chuckles, "I don't need to rob a bank Hex, I've already got plenty o' cash. But I don't doubt you could take over the whole of the Atlantic coast, if you put your mind to it."
He points back out the way they came, and starts heading in that direction, calling over his shoulder to Sam: "All yours, Pard."
Looking back to the bluenette, he adds, "My plan was to pretend I wanted to join, and try to get something that way." He deflates slightly. "Dumb idea, I guess. Maybe they'd believe someone else." Looking at the woman pointedly, his mind shifts gears and he shakes his head slightly, dropping anything he might otherwise have said.

Valerie Killmore has posed:
Waving to the cop, Hex heads away, with her prize. She stole it from a gun, which had a person. No, she stole it from a person who had a gun, right. And she now has it, another piece in her ultimate weapon, taking in a deep breath, she clasps both hands together and brings it close to her chest. She's got tears of joy running down her cheeks as she's walking away, "I found you." She says in a soft whisper about the piece. And she walks with Buster away from the scene, as clued in as she was entering it.

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie will call in the patrol to pick these guys up after reading them their rights and will later look up both Cheyenne and Valerie to see if they have records
