Cast of Characters: Oliver Queen, Vanessa Carlysle

Oliver Queen has posed:
Last few days on both their lives had been quite .., eventful. The discovery of Vanessa's powers, then the visit of old friends, one that he even thought was dead. And then Vanessa's revelation that she had been the hero that had interfered on a robbery taking place at Rubin's museum of art.

It was a lot to process right now, overwhelming maybe, but Queen Mansion apparently had just what was needed to provide some good, nice relaxation. And with the weather helping, providing a nice, warm sun above Oliver suggested that they spent the afternoon taking a swim on the heated pool. Just relaxing, thoughts of the future put away and just being in the present. Because they both truly seemed to be needing it.

So, dressed to the occasion on some simple swimming trunks, wine and a bit of food to indulge on their sweet tooth he has made his way out, greeting the sun with a smile but also a sigh.

It was indeed a nice day for a swim.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa Carlysle emerges from the house out into the pool area. She's wearing a bikini with a semi-transparent wrap about her hips, and a pair of sunglasses. She has a six-pack of Oliver's favorite beer in one hand and a little cooler in the other to keep it cold.

She smiles as she walks over to him, offering the man a soft, short kiss before telling him, "This was a perfect idea. Did they teach you this in archer school?" she asks, smiling to him as she offers him one of the beers, and then puts all but one of the rest into the cooler, saving that remaining one for herself.

The cooler is set aside in the shade and she walks over to the edge of the pool, extending a leg down to drag her toes through the water and check the temperature. "Oh, that's going to be nice," she says to him.

Oliver Queen has posed:
Yes, it's the type of bikini that draws Oliver's gaze to Vanessa, making him blink once and then his smile turning into one of his warm ones. It had indeed been a good idea to come out here for a swim today. The kiss is returned, he just finishing getting the wine and snacks down on the side and his brow arching. "More like playboy school." he tells her in a teasing manner. Because hey, never be afraid to speak of your past of womanizing to the woman you love..

He gets that beer bottle open and takes a swig, still watching Vanessa, following her to the edge of the pool and squatting down, placing one hand inside to feel it and then grin, "I very much agree. I felt we were in need of a .., timeout of all that's going on in our lives now." his large hand then comes out of the water, he gently brushing calloused fingertips on Vanessa's cheek and then a brief touch of his thumb on her nose.

He then sits down on the edge of the pool, taking a longer drink out of his beer.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa leans into Oliver's touch with a soft smile. If there's anyone Oliver is safe with speaking about his womanizing past, it would probably be Vanessa. She isn't going to win any exchanges in a debate on their past lives in that subject area. That Oliver has never made an issue of her past is one of the many reasons she's fallen in love with him.

The young woman undoes her wrap, draping it over a lounger and then moves to join Oliver sitting with her legs in the water and her beer in hand. "Just think, the trial is almost here, and afterwards we won't have to be so cautious," she says.

Vanessa tips the bottle back, sipping from it, the green glass glistening as condensation gathers in droplets on the outside. "I saw there was an invitation to some Octoberfest in May on your desk. Anything worth going to?" she asks of the Hellfire Club gathering.

Oliver Queen has posed:
Oliver takes in a long, deep breath, his eyes up on the sky briefly. What had he done to deserve this good part of his life now? He felt good, warm, sitting comfortably with Vanessa, just enjoying each other's company. He felt he did not want to let this feeling go. Of feeling complete.

The mention of the trial does bring him back to 'earth' though. A nod. And perhaps some doubt crosses his features. Was he certain that it would stop even after the trial was over? He drowns that thoughts with another swig of the beer and then mmms at the invitation to Octoberfest.

It was a curious thing, the hellfire club, his father had been a part of it in the past, even if it was something he had never focused too much in. Still, those invitations were sent to him. "Depends if you like German beer." he says with a grin, "But it might be. Do you want to go?" he then asks her, his hand reaching over to rest atop hers. Comfortable in her presence.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa spreads her fingers sot here's room for Oliver's to lace with her own. "I could stand a night of it," she says with a grin of the German beer. "Though I'm good with whatever you feel about going. I figured it might be nice to get out for a night, and it doesn't sound like the kind of place we'd be likely to run into trouble. I looked the place up online and it sounds like if they cater to executives and all, they probably have the place pretty well secured?"

Vanessa takes a long sip of her beer and sets it down on the ground beside her and then looks back to Oliver. She reaches up to brush her fingers through his hair. "I was thinking you still ow me a couple of dances from that night we met in the diner. Maybe we could get them in there? Though maybe we'd end up having to polka, I don't know what they play there," she says with a soft laugh.

Oliver Queen has posed:
The softness on those fingers contrast with the callouses on Oliver's hand, he looking down at them when they lace them together, "But could you stand the morning after..?" he teases, the corner of his lips turning up into an half-grin. But it's true what she says, that they do need a time out. As for trouble ..., well.., "The club had some trouble a few weeks ago, but it only means security has been reinforced. I feel it's a good idea. And I want to see if you can beat me on beer chugging." which could also be interesting to see what else she could pick out off him. More stamina? But that's Oliver, always with a practical mind even where it comes to their leisure time.

The mention of those dances, that first night they met and danced together under the 'watchful' eye of the sleeping drunkard on the corner makes his expression shift. It eases up, his eyes twinkling, totally open to her and to what that night meant to him at the time, and still does. "I feel like I owe you a couple of dances for the rest of our lives, Vanessa. Any time you ask." he tells her, though the mention of polka makes him laugh as well. "Are you telling me you don't know how to polka?" does Oliver know!?

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
The woman's laugh is warm enough it could send winter heading to an early thaw, Vanessa squeezing Oliver's hand that is holding her own. "So it's /that/ kind of club, I should have known," she says in a light-hearted voice. "You're on, Oliver Just, chugger of beer," she tells him, grinning and leaning over to offer him another gentle kiss.

When she leans back, those large, almost exotic eyes of hers gaze over to Oliver, shining with warmth. When he offers dances whenever she asks, Vanessa replies with a tender, "Deal. And I'll be sure to get my money's worth out of that."

She gives another quiet laugh. "Oh, I can polka. Just I found the dancing we were doing in the diner to be much more fun," she says. She takes another sip of beer before setting the bottle aside again. Another quick peck, this one to his cheek, and then she's letting go of his hand as she slips into the water, letting herself sink all the way to the bottom before she pushes back off to glide back up to the surface.

Oliver Queen has posed:
It's true that Oliver still had -some- reservations about the Club, though his father had never really told him much about it. Still, seemed like just the perfect place for them to go. Specially if it could bring those kinds of smiles he is seeing in her now, that warmness he feels in her infecting him as well, letting him forget all the problems that surround the two of them. "That is my title." he states solemnly. "Did I not introduce myself fully when we met? Chugger of beer is but one of my many titles." and that kiss is certainly welcome, he returning it, beer set aside for the moment as those fingers go up to brush through her hair while they share that intimate kiss.

"Are you going to tell me where you learned how to polka?" He asks with a laugh when she states knowing about it, for a moment lost on those eyes. But then she is letting go and slipping inside. That sounds just good enough to him. He does the same, letting that warm water embrace him, stretching his arms up. "Gods this feels good.." he murmurs.

"I feel like I could get used to this life sometimes..." Oh, who is he kidding, Mr. Green Arrow you-have-failed-my-city type of man.

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Oliver's mention of his titles draws a laugh that shines at him as warm as the mid-April sunlight that is beaming down upon him. "Chugger of beer. Stealer of women's hearts. I'm sure you do have many," she tells him before she goes into the water.

Once she's back on the surface, Vanessa leans her head back and wets her hair down, letting it lay flat on her head. "I grew up outside of Cleveland. It was practically required," she says with a little laugh and a shake of her head. "No, actually, it was about the only dance my uncle ever showed me. He's neither a musical sort, nor a dancing sort. But, something about the polka, and Octoberfast now that I think about it, seemed to appeal to him."

Vanessa treads water in the beautiful heated pool, outside of the mansion on the expansive grounds. "You're not used to it already?" she asks, smiling and swimming over towards where he is while treading water to keep her head up.

Oliver Queen has posed:
As Vanessa starts going about his titles Oliver's only response seems to be opening his arms to the side and lift his shoulders in a shrug that seem to say 'what can a man do?', an amused grin to his lips. He watches her go under water, he moving further up to let go of the ledge, "So there's a long tradition of polka dancers in Cleveland. Got it." he says, though listening when she explains about having learned from her uncle. Family, not something she often talks about.

"You will have to show me your polka moves then. Even if it's true it doesn't beat the type of dancing we were doing before." a fond smile returning to his lips.

He chooses to go underwater then, his form translucent while he swims for a few moments, broad strokes under before he gets back up to the surface, shaking his head out of the water and of course sending water all over, "Oktoberfest has always been about relaxing and letting go... Though maybe he had relatives out of Germany?" he wonders, looking around the grounds before his eyes settle back on Vanessa's swimming form while she swims towards him. "I don't come out here that often, something about being an workaholic. And keeping late hours at the 'office'" he tells her. "Though maybe I was just waiting for the right company to come up and show me the good things in life."

Vanessa Carlysle has posed:
Vanessa seems to consider the thought about her uncle. "I don't know. He was just an odd sort. It's tough to say what he liked about it. Maybe sauerkraut, which I've never cared for?" she says. She swims over to Oliver, taking hold of the side so she doesn't have to tread water, and reaching up with the other hand to retrieve her beer for a sip, before replacing it.

"So you're saying I'll have to encourage you to take a little time and enjoy life?" she takes from what he said. She looks at him, head tilting just slightly and those large, soft eyes shining. "I can think of a few things," she says before letting her eyes drift down from his in a coy manner, though her cheeks are already showing her coming smile.

Vanessa moves in closer, a hand reaching up to rest on the back of Oliver's neck as she kisses him softly. This time the kiss lingers for awhile, an expression of her emotions, before the young woman finally lets it end. She slowly swims backwards away from then, heading towards the shallower end of the pool.

Oliver Queen has posed:
Sauerkraut. Now there's a name that makes Oliver turn his nose. Something that certainly doesn't go into -his- kitchen! "You and me both, Vee." he calls her. Because Vanessa's name can sometimes be too long when he's feeling all relaxed like he is now. But if there's one thing that does not relax are his eyes, following Vanessa's form while she swims about, specially when she begins to move closer.

"Save me, oh damsel, out of the boredom of my life." So dramatic, but that tone of his is full of mirth. "I went to some theatre classes when I was young and tender.." he then explains, not that he goes over on the reasons -why-. But it's most likely evident considering the time of his life in which those classes actually occurred.

Yet he is pretty much lost on those eyes and coy manner, his arms trailing up to a natural embrace about Vanessa's waist, bringing her close, the kiss returned and those emotions fully mirrored on his eyes, savoring that sharing between them, no matter how brief it may be as Vanessa then trails off to the shallower end of the pool. He decides he needs another swim, bringing himself underwater again swimming over to join Vanessa on that shallower end too.

"I have had no reason to complain. You have been quite the blessing in my life."
