Afternoon Delight
Date of Scene: 30 June 2022
Location: Wanda's Room - Avengers Mansion
Synopsis: No description
Cast of Characters: James Barnes, Wanda Maximoff

James Barnes has posed:
It's late afternoon and Bucky is in Wanda's room at the mansion because, despite her reality warping power and magical acumen, and despite his better-than-average-bordering-on-superhuman logistic mind, he can't fucking find this one pen drive that had some important information on it and this is the last place left that he hasn't checked.

So it is that we find Bucky Barnes in just a pair of jeans, barefoot, no shirt, lifting up Wanda's bed with a single hand and looking under it like he might find something wild there.

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
"Are you looking for your missing socks? I hear they have a dimension of their own." Wanda leans against the doorway to her bedroom. She isn't stealthy about approaching but her leather sandals muffle the sounds of her walking. The sun has left her skin warm and lightly bronzed, a natural side effect of white haired brothers and fathers. Someone gets to be the darkling.

Bucky is a fascinating person and his efforts to locate something are far too interesting. "Maybe you lost the cat?"

James Barnes has posed:
At least he isn't employing the age-old intelligence tactic when it comes to looking for things in a room, which is namely: toss everything, make chaos, and not really find anything relevant. Instead, he's being methodical about it; checking cupboards, drawers, under the bed. Wanda's approach is noted, and he even flashes her a quick, grunted smile over his shoulder.

"I can't find a pen drive and I've looked everywhere else. Here's the last place it could be." He lowers the bed effortlessly, turning back to her with a sigh. "But I can't find it here either."

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
Make chaos and hide in a corner. Make someone else do it at gun point. Buy a new one.

The Tony Stark school of spycraft never caught on. Wonder why.

"A pen drive? Is that like a skinny flash drive?" Wanda glances around the room and the bed in the air. "You looked in the gym, the kitchen. You found my missing hairband though." She hurries past Bucky to pick up the small pile of blue fabric with its hidden headphones that makes working out better. Scooping it up, she grins. "Thank you. It's data. Why not ask JARVIS?"

James Barnes has posed:
"Because it's a pen drive made of vibranium polysynthetic alloy that JARVIS can't detect or remotely read developed by A.I.M. back in the early two-thousands," Bucky says with a frown. "It has anti-quantum entanglement software, too, so it's gorgeous-probability-witch-proof, too," he admits, looking at her. His hand reaches out and takes her wrist, pulling her in.

Why he has that pen drive --and why he LOST it-- is not explicitly stated.

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
"That is easier." Wanda strokes her headband softly and folds it in half. "Vibranium sources are few. We can rule out Steve's shield and T'Challa. Quantum entanglement means that one side of my abilities cannot find it. That says nothing about the mystic arts. I can simply throw a finder for any vibranium. When it doesn't ping, but shows up as a hole, you have the presence by the absence."

She grins.

James Barnes has posed:
"Assuming it doesn't have any anti-magic properties I don't remember from the specs," Bucky admits with a smirk. He lifts his hands up and cups her face, stroking her cheekbones with his thumbs. "So beautiful, so smart, so powerful." He leans in to press a kiss to her mouth.

"All right, let's see if you can find it."

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
"You can wander around with a metal detector calibrated for it otherwise. Sweep it side to side like beachcombers." The auburn haired witch smiles under Bucky's kiss, playfully returning it. "I made a gun little more than a paperweight this afternoon bringing you lunch back, you fear me. Sadly I left the lunch behind. That old bat waving a gun at people wouldn't go to the police on her own."

Gee, wonder why.

She leans in to kiss his brow. The attentions of elemental magic and casting classically require some more work, a charm hidden in a drawer and a bit of chalk.

James Barnes has posed:
"No wonder my stomach was rumbling." It's not rare for him to start feeling hungry when she's bringing lunch; and if she doesn't end up showing up with it, her intentions leave him with a rumbling stomach.

After a moment, he kisses her head again and steps back, sitting on the bed to let her get to work.

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
Laughing, Wanda draws a circle on the floor. Practice means she can do that freehand pretty accurately. The thought counts more than the perfect execution of a geometrically ideal shape. "I lost it on the Two. It could be worse. The ubi pastries looked good too." A swipe bisects the circle and she tosses the chalk lightly onto a cushion. Gestures start working her mana into a functional finding spell, using the little bead-shaped charm with a pointed end as something of a focus.

It truly doesn't take much time. Mostly her aura glows an impressive red.

James Barnes has posed:
It really doesn't take much time. Of course, the results are not the expected: sure, her spell locates the absence they're looking for, but as Wanda zeroes in on it, she starts to realize something: that absence is doubly so.

She's not so much locating the vibranium, but the minute traces of it. Further still, there's other particles surrounding where it used to be (one of the drawers, in fact), and they have nothing to do with vibranium...

...they've got mystical properties.

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
The work spins around her, waiting for her to interpret facts. Wanda uses the device of the pointed bead with its arrow-head like a compass sort of. Node that turns, node that spins.

"Did someone take something of yours?" The way she circles around the space where vibranium particles should be tells something. "Or did it absorb something we weren't expecting?"
