Cast of Characters: Phoebe Beacon, Gabby Kinney, Cassandra Cain, Bart Allen

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
    THE REC ROOM.

Phoebe hadn't been spending so much time in Gotham since before the business with the demon dogs. She was up in the rec room tonight, leaning over a beanbag placed on her lap, a heavy tome in front of her as she reads from it. Her hair is still dangerously close to buzz-cut short. There's a pizza box set up on a table, with a box of wings for those who would eat them, and Phoebe is just contemplating the tome in front of her.

Idu, loyal pooch that he is, is at her side, valliantly... snoring, belly up, forelegs folded against his chest.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney had spent the majority of her time lately bouncing between New York, the Velvet Room, and here. She had a room most places but none she could outright call a 'home' location. That was the problem with only having dorm room type accomodations. Something that she was beginning to realize would need to change in the future the closer she got to being a legal adult. For now, she comes into the familiar rec room to make up for lost time away from the Outsiders ... and possibly lured in by the scent of pizza and wings.

Her hair was still shower-damp and a towel is slung over her shoulders. A grin creeps over her face when she spots Pheobe intently interested in a book almost like old times. "Hey Phoebe. Feeling better? And hey Idu," she greets quieter as she pauses to crouch down and give belly rubs to the sleepy pup.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Phoebe looks up as Gabby makes her way in, and then gives a small smile to her and a bit of a wave, setting her book down.

The book is written in squiggly little lines. Looks complicated, but there's pictures of geometric patterns to one side of the page.

Idu snorts himself awake from where he was laying, and begins to wag his tail so hard that his whole body curls this way and that in enthusiastic if lazy greeting.

Cassandra Cain has posed:
Which is of course when Cass appears, outside the picture window. On the outside. This is a ways up in the air, and the building is not meant to -be- climbable. So when her hand appears at the window and it pulls her head up into view, she looks as if she's actually working hard to be there.

Recreation is different for everyone!

Looking in through the window, Cass peeks at Idu first. Priorities after all. Girl's got buds, and then there's the dog.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen comes into the room at normal Bart speed stopping once he is inside and blinks Phoebe is back. He zooms off and is back again with a basket with cold strawberry sodas, and little Debbie cake bars. and a smaller tupperware dish with Idu written on it's label. He made sure to have enough so Phoebe can share if she wants to. He moves over and offers Phoebe the basket "Welcome home." He does resist the urge to huge her, and looks over to Gabby and smiles and then to Cass, "Need a hand in?" He asks.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney gives a few more belly rubs to the cute lil puppo before standing up again to nod in greeting to Bart as well. "Heya. Been awhile... and yeah, welcome home again, Phoebe," she adds in while moving to plonk down on a seat. The figure at the window earns a grin and quick wave as well. "So what's everyone up to tonight? I feel like it's been ages since we've all been together."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Phoebe looks up as Bart zooms in. She blinks when he zooms out, and then he's there again with Welcome Home. Her cheeks and ears get a little darker in the rec room light, accepting the basket of cake snacks and strawberry soda, and tilting her body over a moment as she spies poor Cass outside.

Idu happily accepts belly rubs and snacks, rolling belly-down as food winds out over belly rubs. She embarrassedly signs 'thank you' to Bart and Gabby, setting the thick book and her notepad to the side, and just sort of... motions to the book and notepad, and gives a shrug to Gabs.

Cassandra Cain has posed:
Cass doesn't answer Bart, which is probably because there's a window in the way. Nothing to do with her natural wish to avoid conversation at all, nu-uh! She upnods him, then gives a tiny half-smile in Gabby and Phoebe's direction.

However, most of her focus seems to be on not falling to her death. She pulls herself up another few feet, her palms pressing into the edge of the window, and eyes the topside. She isn't going to try and jump is she?

It's a big window. She's got to go around it. Nobody's that nuts.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen will keep an eye on Cass, as he knows she may just be crazy enough to jump, heck most of the people here are crazy enough to try it at times. He does look back to the other two for a while "Well moved in with Emiko, and been getting Hunn and Munn used to me there all the time not just part of the time, and that they can't torment the animals in aquariums." He grins a bit and says "And working Oh." He brings out his phone showing off pictures of baby bats just hours old

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney glances at the book and notepad a moment with a slow nod as she reaches up to grasp the towel around her shoulders. A good little rub is given to her still-damp hair while she glances back to the window. "Could just open it up you know. I mean. I'm sure she can get in one way or another but holding on for too long is tiring even for her," she points out with a chuckle. "Bart, you wanna help her in?" MIght be best after all. Though she does stop to look at the photo of batties with a quiet 'awww'.

"I've been... Busy but not really doing much myself. Feels like... I don't know. Like I'm not sure where to go from here."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Cass is brave enough and skilled enough to jump the picture window. The better question is why Phoebe just flails her arms at Cass's face in the window, and then just motions to the floor nearby her, and then angry-mom-hand-on-hips. Simple sign language.

But is it *effective*? She knows Cass is just going to do what she wants in any case, so she looks over to Bart, with a wry smile at him, listening to how he moved in with Emiko. She pauses a moment, and then raises her eyebrows with a shrug, and then signs i-n-n-y-c with the questioning face. And then sheepishly points to her throat, where there's layered bandages. Bart might not have heard the news.

-- but then baby bats. There's the sound of air rushing out Phoebe's nose and she leans forward to look at the baby bats!!

But to Gabby, she gives an understanding smile.

She reaches down and picks up her notepad:

<College? Study something that interests you and hero part-time.> she writes on it, turning it around to Gabby.

Cassandra Cain has posed:
Cass sees all the motions. She's not blind, and she's actually pretty attentive. But her attention is on the challenge before her. One which is really, really dumb.

Getting one foot on the tiny ledge of the window, Cassandra Cain bunches herself up. It's going to happen. She's going to do that, that really bloody bad idea. Then she jumps, and half of her body vanishes upwards of the window while her feet scramble against the window itself for purchase. She's got ahold of something up there, though if she's having this much trouble it's doubtful that anyone else...

Then she falls, her body going past the window in an instant. She's there, then she's gone.

The bungee cord which she has attached below the window will catch her, but none of you can see that yet.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen is off, soon as she is falling past the window, he pauses where he was going to answer the ladies inside leaving his phone with Phoebe. He is out and running at speed up the side of the window, catching Cass before she reaches the length of her rope and starts for the roof and realizes the cord is there as it almost pulls her out of his arms, and he moves for a ledge inside the length of the bungie "You ok?" HE asks.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney reads the note written by Phoebe. She stares at the page a moment not saying anything one way or another regarding the suggestion. It's something she'd thought of before of course, but never quite that much. She glances away just in time to see Cass make the jump and fall.

Immediately rising to her feet she's drawn to a quick halt once she realizes Bart is no longer in her peripherial vision. A breath is exhaled, and she rocks her head back to stare at the ceiling.

"Yeah. I think I'm just realizing I'm going to be an adult soon. Legally. Not just acting it. And I've got no plans."

A wry grin comes as she looks back to Phoebe. "Given how long lived my family is I think it's way too early for me to be getting a midlife crisis, but here we are. On the one hand I still act like... well like a giddy kid. But I'm serious too. Can be serious." A glance is cast to her feet.

"Had a lot of people treat me like a kid lately. Not in a bad way, just like, trying to rescue me thinking I'm in danger. I guess I play up the 'young and innocent' thing a bit at times when dealing with people to disarm them. Started thinking about where the act ends and I begin."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
There's a sound of alarm as Phoebe sees Cass go down, and she hops to her feet -- and then Bart is Gone, his phone still in her hand. She makes her infamous 'wet cat' face, and then looks up at the ceiling, and she sits back down. She motions Gabby to sit with her.

She scribbles out something on her notepad.

<Ppl. will always have an idea of who you are. Almost no one knows the real U.> she scribbles, and turns it around.

She motions to herself, and then makes a thumbs-down and sticks her tongue out, blowing a raspberry, then turns her paper around again and writes:

    <18 sux.>

Cassandra Cain has posed:
Cass puts her feet down and unclasps the carabiner that was holding her to her safety cord. She looks away from Bart to hide the embarrasment at being rescued, but after a moment which seems like an eternity, she nods.

Turning back toward him, she upnods and then glances at the door to walk/run/speed down back to where everyone else is at. Seems distracted though, as if there's something else going on.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen will carry her on inside setting her down on her feet once they are inside the room right before the room with the others. He will let her walk in on her own feet, maybe he caught some of the embarrasment and not wanting to add to it. He looks over to Phoebe and says "Yea, she bought a building used to be a bodega I think and turned the bottom floor into her gym, and the top floor is her.. our place." It seems it is new enough to get him to have to get used to calling itours.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney can only respond to the '18 sux' with a small snort and nod of agreement. "Big time." Then Bart has returned with Cass safely in tow giving a grin. "That sounds great, Bart. I've been thinking of looking into a place myself. I've never really had a HOME persay," she admits while reaching up to swipe a hand over her hair again. "Just rooms in different places."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
The statement of never having a home hits hard. Phoebe looks at Gabby, and then her expression softens. She draws her legs up, grasping the paper from her pad, and she draws her fingers down, pulling it into a ball before she pulls it off the pad.

Idu notes the change, looking up from where his snout was buried in The Good Stuff brought by Bart, and he gives a little whine, then goes and stands, shaking himself off a moment, and sits by Phoebe, poking his nose at her shoulder.

Cassandra Cain has posed:
Cassandra Cain has a home. She has a room in Wayne Manor. She's never slept in it, and in fact tends to bunk wherever's dark and difficult to get to. Or in her friends' rooms, if said rooms are nearest to where she's been out 'doing stuff' and they own a couch.

Cass gives Bart a one-armed hug, then turns to look at whatever Gabby and Phoebe are sharing. She pauses visibly, then nods as if getting a little bit of it. But she doesn't know how to help, or even how to be a better friend. Not in something like this.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods and says "The place I was was my first place of my own, it can be nice to have one of your own." He takes the phone back and shows another pic two cats in the stage between kitten and cat, both black one missing it's right eye one missing it's left. "Huginn, and Muninn." He explains "It may take a bit but I have fait we will all find our places with time." He offers and does raise a brow wondering a bit at Phoebe not speaking.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney hadn't really realized how such a remark might upset Phoebe, too. Watching the other girl crumple up the paper earns a slow exhale of breath, and she purses her lips together tightly. Wordlessly she moves to sit next to Phoebe, and reaches out to pat her on the back. She would hug but she knew she didn't really go in for those often.

"Guess I'm not the only one with that issue sometimes, huh? Sorry. I've just... Had a room at the school. A room here. A room at a safehouse. I bounce around a lot, I guess." Lightly chuckling she adds, "Maybe I spread myself too thin." Looking back to Bart she nods as well in thought.

"I think that's what I'd like to work toward though. At least in part. Having a place I can call home, and hopefully someone to share it with." At this she sticks her tongue out comically. "Though that's not really something I have much luck with."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Phoebe turns and raises her eyebrows, looking to Gabby, and then she breathes out, and shakes her head. She motions to herself, and does the 'OK' symbol, mouthing 'I'm OK' to the clawed one. And then she picks up her notepad again and scribbles.

<Its OK to not feel like some place is home.>

She gives a shrug, and lets her shoulders hang a moment.

Cassandra Cain has posed:
Aww.

Cass' last home was a bunker. She doesn't really get it. But she does nudge Bart, and then move away from him to Phoebe's side. She puts a hand on the dark skinned woman's shoulder, then just looks at her.

She makes a fist, then gives a tiny headtilt toward the training room? Probably awful timing but it always makes HER feel better.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks over and shrugs a bit to Cass, but does add "There is someone else who will be happy to see your back Phoebe, he seemed to miss your visits and I honestly think he wanted to ask me where you were but since he can't speak human it is a bit hard for him..

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney reads the paper with a small nod as well as a grin. "I think maybe it doesn't feel like home because I DO have so many places. If that makes sense? But," she adds looking to each in the room with a nod. "But it is good to be around friends."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Phoebe looks to Cass, allowing the hand on her shoulder. She doesn't wince or twitch, because it's Cass. Her shoulders relax, and her eyebrows go up a moment as she looks to the other Bat, and shegives a wry, half smile, and a wistful look.

She reaches into the gift basket and produces a strawberry soda for Cass, and hands it over to her, and then, in such a way that looks like she is trying to make it nonchalant, she attempts to put her left arm around Cass, hopefully distracted by the strawberry soda, as she scribbles:

<BART: Jeffrey and I have something in common now. Other than spots. GABS: Makes sense. I feel u.>

Cassandra Cain has posed:
Cass lets her offer lapse, and takes both soda and hug. She doesn't -drink- it, but she takes it. What else is there to do?

also, who's this Jeffrey?

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen 's brow raises a bit at the note, and says "Well, I am sure he will be happy to see you again, heck maybe we can all go out one night and see the animals." He offers having took Gabby out there before as well.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
For one night at least, the Rec Room is filled with excitement, pizza, and assorted birthday-cake flavored junkfoods as a plan to visit the zoo to see all the baby bats and Jeffrey the Giraffe is formed. The building may not be home, but it is filled with family.
