Cast of Characters: Lydia Dietrich, Chas Chandler, Gabby Kinney, Jessica Cruz

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
Lydia needed a break from working her book. Ever since she... well... called things off with Mystique she's kind of thrown herself into finishing the Book of Lydia. Once her publisher got wind of this project they'd been pushing her to complete it as fast as possible, so that it could get it out to print while the events in Manhattan was still fresh in everybody's mind.

So now she finds herself headed to the Sitting Room in the VR, with her laptop tucked up under an arm and another notebook in her hand. She's got another project that she started working on that needs a bit of work so might as well work on that.

"Can you make me a Manhattan?" she asks Igor, who is tending the bar today, as she sits down at it, setting her laptop down. "Thank, you, Igor."

Chas Chandler has posed:
Igor inclines his head at the bar and goes to prepare the drink ordered. Igor's methodology of making drinks is... unorthodox. He takes the ingridents required to make the drink and lays them before him like a spread of cards. Then, he holds out his hand over them and exerts a measure of will. A flash of light later and what is in the place where the ingredients were is instead the drink ordered. The bottles and canisters required to make what was made are back in their place with no sign of them moving in the first place.

Placing the Manhattan before the vampiress, Igor arches a bushy brow. "I take it much is on your mind, Ms. Dietrich?" he asks in his piercing nasal toned voice. "The mind's eye sees many things in upheaval about you. Do you care to talk about it?"

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Through one of the doors comes a little flash of light identifying the arrival of Gabby as she steps through. She's carrying a backpack with her, from which the top of a particular doll head can be seen peeking out. Before she goes anywhere else she heads for the couches where Hanako's little nook to place her back there.

"Hey Lydia," she calls out in greeting while smoothing down Hanako's dress only to get a few waps of a doll hand in the process. "Okay hold on, I'll get the icecream in a minute," she assures with a small laugh. "Impatient."

With that settled she heads over to the bar as well blinking in small surprise at the sight of Igor there. "Oh hey, been awhile. Got any vanilla icecream back there? I promised Hanako a scoop if she behaved while we were out."

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
This is the first time Lydia has seen Igor 'make' a drink. His mixology method is unusual, to say the least, and it causes something of a doubletake when she sees how he does it. "Thank you," she says, taking the drink and taking a tentative sip. Finding it to her satisfaction she nods her approval.

"There really isn't much to talk about," she tells the bartender. "My engagement to Mystique was a mistake, so I called it all off." Oddly there doesn't seem to be that much in the way of remorse in her voice. "It got a little messy from there, but nothing I couldn't handle. I only wish I had done this sooner, but I had been trapped by my-"

She doesn't finish her sentence, for that's when Gabby toting Hanako come in. "Evening, Gabby," Lydia says. "Hanako-chan." She gives the pair a grin, "So did she behave herself?"

Chas Chandler has posed:
The strange man(?) inclines his head in acquiescence to the subject as Lydia dismisses her situation and Gabby arrives with her strange haunted doll in tow. "Perhaps..." he muses at her inquiry. "I presume you want it?" He again extends a hand, and with another flex of his will produces a small bowl of white ice cream, presumably vanilla before the young woman and her doll. "I do hope this is satisfactory" he says in that same nasal pitched voice.

He regards Lydia. "Was the cut off for privacy or simply her arrival?" he asks, again arching a bushy brow in the vampiress' direction. "I understand discretion is often wanted in matters of romance and will perfectly neglect further inquiry if you so wish it."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
That causes Gabby to pause looking toward Lydia with complete surprise at the news. Without warning, she steps over to wrap her arms around Lydia in a hug from the side. "I'm sorry. Even if it was for the best that's got to be tough." The hug is held a half moment longer before she releases the poor woman to finish her drink. "She did behave herself. I went to check out some apartments and brought her with me so she could get some air, and see the city."

Looking back to Igor she grins in amusement. "I always want icecream," she agrees with a solemn nod and grin. Poor Hanako couldn't request things after all, but icecream was icecream. "Thank you!" The bowl is plucked up and carted back to the couches where she reaches over to the little mini shrine she'd fixed up to place a stick of incense into it. Hanako is quite excited judging from the little childish wiggle the doll gives. The incense is lit, and Gabby claps her hands together twice to complete the little ritual for the offering of food to the dead. From her spot she calls out, "Oh I heard anyway. Sorry, the hearing is getting better the more I get used to my senses."

Jessica Cruz has posed:
Jessica Cruz was trying to meditate, to see if she could talk to her... roommate, the sorcerer Akakios. But he's being his traditional nasty self and finally a key fell into her lap, shimmering wtih dark green light before it fades. It's old - and is blue.. "What's this?" she asks. She hears nothing but maniacial laughter as she shrugs. She hears a whisper to put it in a keyhole, any keyhole. She sighs softly as she garbs herself in what seems to be the default 'outfit' when using her ring - some kind of green robes with a hood that covers her face, and tries it out.

She opens the door, and walks into a room that's blue with some kind of haunting piano music that she could've sworn she heard on a Youtube video lately. She looks around, a bit lost, not really sure what's happening. "What is this place?" she asks softly, adjusting her hood so her features are disguised.

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
"Well. Privacy," Lydia says, sounding mildly annoyed. Her breakup with Mystique wasn't something that she really wanted to discuss with the other JLD teammates but it seems that Gabby's exceptional hearing has broken that. "It's okay," she tells Gabby. "When I first got my enhanced senses it was hard for me to keep from overhearing things too."

Her attention is drawn to the new arrival, a young woman clad in green robes. "This is the Velvet Room," she tells her. "Kind of the headquarters to the Justice League Dark." She ducks her head to see if she can see the woman's face beneath the robe, and it seems familiar though she can't quite place where she'd seen her before. "Can I help you?"

Lydia is a pale woman, unnaturally so, with blood red lips. She's dressed casually, in a white sun dress with red flowers lining the hem of the skirt. Around her are twinkling pinpricks of light, like her own starfield that lazily drift about her, winking into and out of existence.

Chas Chandler has posed:
Igor's toothy smile is inhumanly wide and he inclines his head at the destruction of her wishes. But as the new woman arrives. "Welcome to the Velvet Room" he says, almost by rote. "I trust the gift received you well. It took some work to locate you, but once done it was simple enough to ensure it fell into your possesion. You -are- the ring bearer are you not?" he asks.

he cloak and hood does mask her identity well enough. "I will allow you two to educate her on any specifics. Please, treat me as nothing more than a humble servant for the time being" he replies looking at Lydia and Gabby. "If you have questions that you are unsure of... I will be here."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney rises from her spot by the couches to glance over at the newcomer with a grin. Hooded or not she's met with a friendly, "Hi! I'm Gabby. This is Hanako-chan," she gestures toward an old Japanese doll seated on a cushion on the couch. "She's actually a spirit in there, so please treat her nicely." The doll raises a hand to 'wave' before she returns to her ghostly treat: A little image of icecream that was a mimic of the actual icecream in front of her.

Jessica Cruz has posed:
Jessica Cruz just blinks. "Oh - so Akakios didn't bring me that key?" she asks softly. "And yes... i have a ring... I haven't settled on a code name yet - but I have to go by something... I'm hiding from bad people." She lifts her left arm and pulls the sleeve back so the dark green ring is viaible, dully glowing and seeming anchored to her hand. "I... thought the spirit in my ring brought me here as another trick - but he was just taking credit for someone else's doing - as usual." She sighs softly as she sits down, shaking her head. "So... ummm... hi. Not sure why I'm here - but can you help me get this damned magic ring off of my hand? It's... terrifying."

Lydia Dietrich has posed:
"Possibly," Lydia says, motioning Jessica to come closer so she can see the ring. "I mean, if /anybody/ can figure out how to remove a cursed ring, it'd be the Justice League Dark. I'm Lydia, by the way," she says, giving Jessica a warm smile that doesn't quite touch her eyes.

Once Jessica is close, Lydia holds out a hand for her to put her hand in it so Lydia can take a closer look at the ring. "How did you get a hold of the ring? What kind of things does this spirit do to you?"

Chas Chandler has posed:
Igor looks up at the display of the ring. "The spirit inide was what we used to locate you... and it was the delivery method but the Velvet Key is only distributed by denizens of the Velvet Room." He tilts his head as he looks at the ring. "This may take some time... may I get you a drink while you discuss your predicament?" he offers.

His smile, while slightly disconcerting is friendly enough all the same. "Ms. Dietrich's offer is accurate those who use this place are likely the ones best suited to help you with your situation... curses and bindings are within their areas of interest."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney moves away from Hanako to let her enjoy her treat in peace, while joining the others at the bar. The ring is curiously regarded though it was more Lydia's specialty for such things. She was still mostly muscle for aiding when needed.

"Well it's safe as can be here. No one can enter or leave the Velvet Room without a key," she explains with a tip of her head toward the key that the new individual had. "And it works in any door to bring you here. But yeah. JLD, that's Justice League Dark. We work with the magical stuff."

Jessica Cruz has posed:
Jessica Cruz widens her eyes. "I... I'm safe here?" she asks softly, then sighs softly. "Well.." she then pulls her hood down, revealing a young woman with Hispanic features. "If you're going to help me... you should know who I am. I... I think this Ring of Cypress was drawn by my fear... I have a mob hit on me. I saw things that I shouldn't have - you really think that's only in movies like the Godfather but..." She sighs softly. "I was the fastest runner. And... the ring always whispers terrible things to me to keep me afraid... but... he wants to be real again. I've been told that my powers are similar to that of Green Lantern but... they're a bit... off."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney nods reassuringly at Jessica when she seems surprised at the place being safe. "It is," she assures, only to frown at mention of the mob. "Yeah they're real enough too. Sorry you've had a tough time. But you can realx here for awhile," she assures before glancing to Lydia as well. "And if you need to talk I can listen but I won't tell anyone else," she assures. "I've got to head off for now, take care of some things. Nice to meet you, Jessica." And off she goes.
