Mary Bromfield has posed:
It's a busy Thursday morning at the Coffee Bean! Lines are long and the coffee is, of course, excellent. This morning, Mary's working one of the registers, unfailingly polite and nice compared to some of her snarkier co-workers. If you like that sort of thing, anyway.

Currently, she's putting the finishing touches on an order, sending it to the back, then unfailing turning a cheerful smile to the next in line, "Hey, welcome to the Coffee Bean, what can we brew for you?" She's wearing a black work t-shirt with a "Mary" nametag, nothing fancy but, well... it's work!

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
Caitlin's next up and steps to the counter with a polite, flashing smile for the barista. She twists to dig in her purse, because like all customers, it only just then occurs to her to have her credit card handy. "Uh... let's see," she stalls, looking up at the menu. One might think she's walking around in six-inch lifts; in fact she's wearing sensible low-heeled slippers, a grey pencil skirt, and a cute but modest short-sleeved blouse. It screams 'business attire', or at least that she works somewhere with exepctations of a dress code. "Can I get a ... Supremo Size mocha latte? With six shots and double flavor. Oh, and make it with heavy cream if you have any, please," she requests politely. A card's located in a slender wallet and she produces it to hand over to Mary. "What's fresh for baked goods?" she adds, casting a hungry eye at the display shelf.

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Mary grins, and punches in the order, "Wow, sounds like finals week to me." She chuckles and notes the order, looking up at Caitlin as she nods, "Definitely have the heavy cream for you, I can note that..." She looks over the baked goods.

"Well, fresh we still have a few chocolate filled croissants, plus some bagels from Noah's down the block that were fresh today. Oh, and the lemon coffee cake... assuming Faye didn't EAT IT ALL!" Look, Mary is nice to customers, but co-workers are exempt from that.

The aforementioned Faye smirks, "Whatever, skinny butt! Keep working the register!" and goes back to fixing the brews for customers.

However, there is one slice of the lemon coffee cake left. Gleaming like the One Ring itself... well, except it's a cake.

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
"Finals?" Caitlin gives Mary a momentarily confused look, then laughs. "Oh gosh, I guess it -is- that time of the year, isn't it?" she agrees. "Nono, I'm actually playing hooky from work," she explains to the barista. The redhead taps a fingernail againt the glass. Fortunately for Faye, the single slice of tantalizing lemon coffee cake will go to a more deserving consumer. "Could I get two of the eclaires and one of the bagels, and extra cream cheese, too, then? I'm going to be meeting some people here in a bit so I figured I'd stake a table out and get some breakfast for myself."

Negasonic has posed:
Ellie comes into the Coffee Bean, looking like just about the last person that should ever set foot in there, what with her goth manner of dress and multitudes of piercings. Nevertheless, she walks straight for the counter, fishing in her pocket for a few crumpled dollars which she drops on the counter, "this enough for an iced hot chocolate? If you got an old cookie you might think of throwing away, I wouldn't mind a freebie, just sayin'..." she adds optimisticly.

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Mary smiles at Caitlin, "You got it." She works on getting the food prep order going for the redhead, "Need some tables scooted together or anything? We can definitely do that, though I don't know how quite it's going to be here..." With that, she punches up the total, "Okay, so the supremo mocha latte six shots and extra flavor with heavy cream, two eclairs and a bagel with extra cream cheese, comes to... eighteen fifty five."

Meanwhile, a blonde with a few extra ear piercings smiles warmly at Ellie, "Sure, that's enough for a iced hot chocolate, though I don't know why it'd be iced when you want it hot because that doesn't make that muh sens..." She pauses, noticing the glare from Faye, "Er, I mean, yes, we can do that, definitely, though we Don't Really Have Any Day Olds Or Anything." With that, she winks at Ellie and slips a chocolate cookie over to her very discretely.

Negasonic has posed:
Ellie shrugs, "oh, you guys have it under frozen hot chocolate? Sure, whatever, everyone have their own name for it...I don't judge." Which may not be too accurate, as Ellie more often than not judges a whole lot. But once the cookie is snuck in on the down low, Ellie beams with delight, "ooooh, you're cool. Thanks! If there's any change there, keep it as tip."

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
Plastic's swiped and exchanged. "If you don't mind, yeah, I'll push a table together. No, I'll get it," Caitlin adds, hastily. The big redhead glances over and down at Negasonic at the dicussion about day-old cookies; she considers the punky young thing sidelong. Once the baristas have her attended, Caitlin starts juggling the food on the tray.

"Hey, I'm sorry to be an imposition," Caitlin apologizes to Ellie premptively. "I thought a friend of mine was going to join me, but she's gonna be late. Do you wanna take one of these eclaires off my hands?" she offers, indicating the pair of stuffed confections. "Otherwise it's just gonna go stale before I get around to eating it."

Negasonic has posed:
Ellie, not used to such kind offers, looks suspiciously at Caitlin before asking, "depends, is it poisoned...?" Her expression is perfectly deadpan to match her delivery, to the point she may well be serious with her question, as she approaches Caitlin.

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
Caitlin gives Ellie a look of confusion and mildly shocked horror. "/Goodness/," she says, a little strangled. "No, of course not. It's... from here," she tells Ellie. "I'm ... having one, too?"

The redhead exchanges a confused look with a barista, then shrugs awkwardly at the other woman and collects her coffee once it's ready. Hot caffeine in her hand puts a smile back on Caitlin's face. "Aww, thanks Faye," she tells her, and puts a few folded bills into the tip jar. With drink and food in hand, Caitlin gathers up nakpkins and utensils with a tidy sort of efficiency and finds a table with enough room for three or four diners to sit at. Her satchel's opened up and a tablet computer's propped up at her elbow, though there is room for Ellie to sit as well if she chooses.

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Faye grins, "No, the iced hot cocoa is poisoned though, we use arsenic cubes!" Then she lets out a melodramatic OW! as Mary has impeccable aim with one of the rejected bagels, hitting her upside the head.

With that, Mary then grins over at Caitlin, "If you need anything special, let me know. I'll be happy to help out." She then goes back to working the line, taking orders for the Bean.

Mariana Gomez has posed:
An upscale beanery like the Coffee Bean is not usually the site for most uniformed workers, but the door dings and in strides a young hispanic woman in a NYFD uniform with a paramedic patch and an ambulance company unit logo. Also included is a bandolier and gear belt with a radio and a red-cross emblazoned courier bag at her side. She gets in line at the counter and waits her turn in Mary's line.

When she steps forward, the paramedic's dark eyes pick up a curious inner glow, and she looks a mite startled, like someone who approaches the counter to find someone she knew in school but lost touch with a while ago. "Uhm ... hi. Sorry. Can I get a supremo-sized dark roast with four shots of expresso? Double heavy cream, please." Yeegad, that's a lot of compressed caffeine. Shouldn't she just mainline the stuff with an IV at that point?

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Mary grins over at Mariana, "You know what, that's not even the highest caffinated order I've taken in the past ten minutes." She punches in the order, prompting a "WHAT? ANOTHER ONE? NOW WE HAVE TO TORTURE THE COFFEE BEANS TWICE AS FAST!" from the back where the drinks are being made.

Mary, however, smiles innocently at Mariana, "Faye's kidding. Really. Did you want anything to go with that? Amazingly the lemon coffee cake has not been taken yet."

It sits there. Angelic. Pure. The One Pastry Crafted Over All Others.

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
The coffee shop's getting busy, enough that beggers can't be choosers about where they sit. One set of tables has been pulled together near Caitlin, with seats empty as if she's expecting someone to be joining her. From the sight of it, Caitlin might very well be the other monster caffeine order-- heavy cream latte, tray piled high with sugared confections, and though there's technically food to spare for a not-yet-present arrival, Caitlin has them pulled close enough that they exist mostly in her posession.

Negasonic has posed:
"I'll take it then," Ellie says to the free pastry, snorting at the suggestion the iced hot chocolate is poisoned, "it can't be, chocolate cures all poisons," she says it as if it was a scientific fact, as she moves to sit at an empty table for two, sipping at her drink.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart had been texting Mary all day, as the boyfriend naturally does, before he decides to head over there more properly. He's dressed in a red jacket and a white T-shirt with a 'D20' Dungeons and Dragons logo on it. Jeans and running shows cover the lower body.

But he wanders on in into the coffee bean, with a smile on his face as he waves, intending to get the barista's attention. "Heyo!" he calls.

He's totally fine waiting in line.

Negasonic has posed:
Ellie looks up at the loud Bart, but makes nothing of it, slowly biting into her pastry as she studies him, eventually muttering, "nerd," before turning back to her drink. That D&D shirt apparently earned Bart the remark, which may or may not be hurtful at all.

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Mary waves over towards Bart briefly, as she has been getting the texts, but... well, it's been busy! Of course, busy is good for her tip count. Not so good for replying to texts, though she flashes him a smile as he shouts out.

Then she gets back to handling orders, and eventually he's next in the line, "Hey, stranger, how's it going?" She grins cheerfully, though this time it's far more genuine. Not that it wasn't before, but, well.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart looks over at Ellie when he hears what she says. "Hey, the coolest people are nerds and don't let anyone wearing ridiculous amounts of leather tell you otherwise!" He tells her with a big smile, before he looks at Mary.

"Hey hey hey. Oh you know, seeing the sights, checking out the views." He says this while he looks into Mary's eyes, flirting with his lovely lady. He looks to see if anyone is in line before he rests his elbows on the counter so he can speak with Mary more intently. "Havin' a good workday?" He slides her cash too, just early prep for his usual. Or he's just giving her a solid tip. whichever.

Mariana Gomez has posed:
"Hey, sure. I'd love that." Mariana offers to Mary, smiling. SHe hadn't even considered 'lemon coffee cake' before it was suggested, but something about it just suddenly captures her attention. It has nothing to do with the reall sweet and friendly barista recommending it. Really. Seriously. That agreed, the young paramedic pulls out a card and swipes it to cover her bill, promptly tucking it away. She does offer the barista another smile, though. "Props for the name." Will her own come up when her loyalty card is scanned? Then the joke might not fall so flat.

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Mary grins at Bart, "One sec, hon..." She then takes care of Mariana's payment, then laughs, "Right? My best friend is named Marie, too. She's from France." She grins and gives Mariana the card back, and bags up the lemon coffee cake for her.

Then she grins and gives Bart a swift peck on the cheek, "The usual? Coming right up." She taps it in, taking the cash from him as she chuckles, "Been pretty crazy today."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart looks at Mary and he gives her a nod. "Sure thing." He then looks at the lady she's talking to. "Hi there, friend of Mary's?" of course, Bart just arrived so he's kind of dense on whatever was happening before he showed up. He does look back at Mary just in time to get a kiss on the cheek, one he happily accepts and even reddens his cheeks.

"Heheh...aw shucks." He teases her. "And yep, the usual! Crazy, huh? Any superhero customers today or has it been the common man as it were?"

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Mary grins at Bart, "Just one, you just missed her. At least, I think so... recognized her name from the card, but not much more than that." She chuckles, "Billy or Fred would know more about her, but she was tall and ginger. And had more espresso shots than //you//." Which is really saying something, as she continues, giving Mariana a warm smile, "No, just met, one of the customers, though she did take... the last piece of Lemon Coffee Cake."

From the back, one of the baristas shouts out a melodramatic, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" before a couple of them just start laughing. Apparently there's a bit of end-of-shift silliness infecting the crew.
