No Good Deed Goes Unpunished
Date of Scene: 08 July 2022
Location: Union Square Park
Synopsis: Supergirl nearly re-enacts Mortal Kombat with Monet. Thankfully, the Titans, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men all make an appearance to save the day!
Cast of Characters: Monet St. Croix, Kara Danvers, Heather Danielson, Rogue, Valeria Richards, Warren Worthington, Reed Richards

Monet St. Croix has posed:
It's been a dreadfully irritating couple of days. For Monet St. Croix, she'd passed along a warning to the Titans, whom she had supposed had dealt with the matter. It was mostly pushed out of her consciousness now. She had other things to concern herself with as she would be walking along with her phone in a hand. She's speaking in quick French over, "Hello Claudette, how are you feeling?" her tone soft and almost gracious. There was no noise from the other end of the phone. "That's good. I'm so sorry.." Some rapid chatter in the background of it. "Witty as always Nicole. I miss you both. I'll have to visit soon."

Kara Danvers has posed:
There's frighteningly little warning. That's the thing. At superspeed, Supergirl isn't there, and then with a blur that's so fast unaugmented senses would barely be able to perceive it, she's standing in front of Monet. She does not look happy. Her arms are crossed over her chest, obscuring the crest on her suit. Perhaps symbolic, and not a good sign.

"Did you think you were being clever?" she asks.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
M has enhanced senses. To a degree. She's not Logan by any stretch. So when those air molecules are displaced and the woman is suddenly in front of her before she can remotely register the fact that displacement happened, Monet snaps fully around. "I'll call you both back." Phone snapping shut.
"I happen to think that I'm far more than clever, ghank you very much. Whatsoever do you speak of?"

Kara Danvers has posed:
"Let's start with you pretending to be on my side, and then turning the Titans against me. How's that for a start?" She moves to step up closer, to get up into Monet's personal space.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would go to float solidly in place, "While you're no doubt a lovely thing, space. Namely, give me some." Monet would showcase irritation. While mentally showcasing actual irritation. She had asked those fools to be -covert-.

Kara Danvers has posed:
Supergirl scowls. "I don't think you understand. Let me make my point clear." She, too, will move to float...and then swing a punch at Monet. A Kryptonian, not-holding-back punch. Both Superman and Supergirl routinely hold back their power; that infamous "world of cardboard" speech.

Not today, it seems.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
When a being goes to punch there's a proverbial 'drawing back' as kinetic energy is focued over to concussive force. A heavy punch by a metahuman standards can range from 'hurl a tanker truck through the sky' to things far, far worse.
Unfortunately for Monet Yvette Clarisse Maria Therese St. Croix, her opponent is in the 'far, far worse' category. The fist slugs Monet over in the chest.
Then the impact registers. Not of the fist.. But of the building. The first one she slams through. Then the second. Then the third that she goes halfway through before skidding along like a stone along the ground through the street. Then the senation of the first punch having hit her through a pair of skyscrapers and her landing attested by the car she had just been slammed into. Then the pain hits.
Monet Yvette Clarisse Maria Therese St. Croix can only scream now from it as reaction sets in as her mimnd is having trouble catching up with her body's sensations.

Kara Danvers has posed:
Supergirl pursues at superspeed flight. The instant that Monet comes to a stop on that car, she's /there/. It's like a superpowered version of the Terminator; how do you get away from that? "Maybe you're starting to understand now. You have a bit of a superiority complex? Let me show you what it really MEANS to be superior." Her hand snaps out towards Monet's ankle, intending to grab it.

Kara has Themysciran combat training. She's not using it now. This is ANGER, unleashed. If she gets hold of the other girl's slender ankle, she's going to squeeze. HARD.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet can barely -register- teh other woman is there. With enhanced intellect comes advanced analysis. Monet can -see- Kara as the girl goes to suddenly blink out of existence, pop back into it and casually yank on her ankle, even as she's still being flung backwards from the impact wiht the car.

She had just started screaming from pain. Then it's so brutally cut off as she's grabbed by her ankle and slammed into the ground HARD. Several thing snap.
The first being her ankle. And then far, far more things.

Far, far worse things.
She hasn't even had time to scream.

Kara Danvers has posed:
"What's wrong? Where's your smarmy comments, Monet? Why aren't you boasting and trying to show me how in control of the situation you are?" Supergirl asks. She has that ankle, and she's squeezing hard enough to grind bones to dust. She lifts off, flying about ten feet up...and then whips Monet about, like one might swing a big hammer blow. Except that the handle of the hammer is the mutant girl's leg, and the head of it? Well, /her/ head. Or, hopefully, she gets her arms up in time. Because Supergirl whips her about at superspeed with that hammer blow, aiming to crater the ground with Monet's head.

She releases the girl's ankle after the swing. "I am TIRED of people I THOUGHT I could trust BETRAYING me!" Her voice is full of anger. She's practically trembling with pure fury.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
SNAP-CRACK. Monet can only move so fast. When her body is being used as a literal whip, more things are breaking and giving from it. There's another TWIST and CRACK as something else gives over and Monet's head is at a brutal angle. And left an impact crater in the ground from the smash and the horrific brutalization. Heavy. Crushing.

She doesn't have time to breathe. She can't scream. She can't taunt back. She can just howl over in impotent agony. As she's whipped, eardrums are ruptured, eyes gogued, throat torn. SHe doesn't even have so much time to gurgle or do anything else of the sort. For her, it's just been a second or two since the first impact took her.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Seventeen seconds ago. Monet St. Croix was on phone.
Fourteen seconds ago; Kara Zor-El arrives.
Nine seconds ago; smarmy remarks were exchanged. Monet was accused of betrayal.
Three seconds ago. Monet St. Croix is punched through three buildings into a street.
Two seconds ago; Monet St. Croix is picked up out of the ground by her ankle.
One second ago; Monet St. Croix is being smashed into the ground liek a whip by said ankle.
Now; the action of pain from the first hit is catching up with her over to breathe.
There's not enough left functioning of her mouth to get that out, though.

Kara Danvers has posed:
For her part, Supergirl is hovering about ten feet up, over the crater that Monet is lying in. Her eyes have started to glow red. "Go ahead! Justify it!" She's all but /shrieking/ at Monet...or rather, the lump of tissue that was formerly Monet at this point. "Tell me why you thought you could betray me!! I am TIRED of my so-called friends working against me behind my back! Trying to kill me!" The heat-vision hasn't been unleashed yet, but if she does in the state Monet's in, it's probably not going to be a happy ending.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
There's not enough left of the lump of tissue that is/was Monet St. Croix to be able to do much. Nor can she feel anything beyond pain and agony. The only good thing is that her mind hasn't processed things sufficiently enough to catch up with the worst of it. She can only project out rage-fear-hate-agony over like a telepathic record set on 'loop'

Heather Danielson has posed:
Midtown Manhattan. There are many reasons why Heather would be in New York. I mean the Titans -are- Metropolis based. But Heather spends a lot of time in New York due to it being one of the major hubs for the fashion industry. But she was driving by in her little blue rental car. It is one of those tiny boxlike smart cars. The initial slams of the clash just a few seconds ago made her pull her car over to the shoulder and pop out. Ten seconds later, she coms to a stop after sprinting at full speed towards the conflict. She spent a second or two staring in disbelief. "KARA!" she shrieks out before moving forward, "Stop this!" Yeah. She is a teammate, but she also knows that Kara is under some external influence. She has no hope of physically stopping Kara. But maybe she can at least buy a little time.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue, aka Mighty Woman in the eyes of the Media, is on patrol in the area. She gets word of a fight nearby that is getting out of hand, and her flight path takes her out of the sky toward the two combatants... Dressed in her green and gold bodysuit, with her leather jacket worn on over it, a green doo-rag on her head tied back behind the crown of her head, with her sunglasses worn over her eyes, the southern gal soars in over the crater, opposite side of it that Kara is on.

She looks down to the inner areas of the crater, then up toward Kara. "I think it's time for whatever is goin on here t'simmer the Hell down." The Belle speaks up, and over to Supergirl.

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara looks over at Heather's shout, which at least means the deadly laser eyes aren't pointed at Monet. She turns to face her fellow Titan. "They sent you, Heather? What's the matter, they afraid of getting the same for what they've done?!" She's ranting at this point. "Tell America and Vivian they can expect the same!"

She sees Rogue come flying in, and looks over. "This isn't your business!" She cuts loose with the heat vision now, twin rays of red lancing through the sky towards the arriving southern belle.

Valeria Richards has posed:
Other members oif GIRL had been made aware that Kara had been a little off to put it mildly. Val had even been helping Vivian with things to help restrain the Kryptonian. But also had plenty of of monitorinmg set up in case Kara did have an outburst.

Hence the sight of first a Fantasticar flying over head and then with some really nervous yelling as a blonde girl in what looks like padded white leather but is actually loaded with Thing Suit and DoomTech forcefield generators on top of all the unstable molecules.

This was not a good idea but somehow the enhanced strength of the suit and the energy absorbsion of the forcefields means she can stick the landing just far enough away she doesn't land on anyone.

"Kara? Wow, you aren't doing all right are you? Wanna calm down and talk things out" she asks and spies Monet on the ground. A quick enough dash and a swipe of her wirst computers holodisplay increasing the radius of her forcefield to surround women facing heat vision to try keep them safe.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix is flopping about like a piece of tinfoil. Her body has three ribs sticking out her back, one of which has half of a lung impaled on it. Her spine looks like something more slinky-wise and the rest of her isn't much better.

The fact she was still conscious and capable of receiving sensation was a curse.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue's Seventh Sense alerts her to personal danger incoming, in the form of those laser eye beams from the angry alien. She spins down out away from them, turning to her side and twirling her flight path down toward Monet! Planting her wedge heeled boots on the edge of the crater that the French tank is all beat up within. Rogue speaks in to her X-Men comm, calling out the situation in short bursts of words.

Her green eyes look up to where the eye-beaming Kara had come from, and then she can hear the others calling out to her as well. "Last chance to break off, Sugah." Rogue warns Kara. "You're not gonna just hurt my friends and get away with it."

Heather Danielson has posed:
"Kara! Seriously! Come on!" says Heather. "Nobody sent me. I was just..." and then the heat vision lances out towards Rogue, and Heather cringes. She surges forward then, hoping that she might be able to help somehow. "I'm here because I care about you! You're a teammate. Family!" she yells as she launches herself towards Kara... leaping through the air to -try- to tackle the Kryptonian. Odds are she'll end up smooshed just as bad as Monet. At least she heals fast. We may be about to find out just how much damage she -can- heal.

Kara Danvers has posed:
Heather can "tackle" Supergirl easily enough...leaping through 10' of air and hitting her is easy. The problem is, it doesn't move her. Her flight and strength are enough that she remains hovering there, unmoving. She looks over to Heather, and...oddly enough, the surreal situation of having a blonde nigh-cheerleader hanging off her seems almost to at least put a chink in that unrestrained pure anger. At least, enough that she neither immediately attacks Heather nor moves to flick her off. Instead, she looks down to her. "Heather, let GO." Supergirl insists.

She looks over to Rogue, who's between her and Monet, and seems to be getting ready to potentially throw down...and then she sees the Fantasticar coming in with another of her teammates. And the anger seems to start returning. "You too??" She demands, looking over to Valeria, as she does the hero-landing arrival. "Fine! FINE! Bring it!" She glares, the eyes glowing red again.

Her attention, at least, is on Valeria at the moment, instead of the severely wounded Monet. Meaning she's also not paying attention to the southern powerhouse defending her.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix is mostly left to her own devices. OR what's left of her is. She's managing to mentally catchup in the spiral of agony/pain/torment as she's desperately trying to come to some sort of control over her state of body.
This is to be expected not particularly well. There's just mentally drawn out rage being overwhelmed by pain and agony. With chunks of her about everywhere.

Valeria Richards has posed:
Val looks down to the very messed up Monet. "Hi, Val, went shopping one time you gave some nice fashion advice!" she offers with a smile like people don't know who the ytoung blonde woman with a numeral 4 on her chest is.

The girl's wrist computer waving over Monet while scanners work to try and see how bad the non visible internal injuries are while the blonde is manually making sure more power is put into the shield tech and energy capacity is going to handle as much as possible. Punches and Heatvision are no joke and Valeria is very, very squishy without her tech.

Eyes look back to Kara as she seems to really not want to do things the peaceful way. "Real talk Kara, what's your beef what you got going on that's got a bug up your backside?"

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren was at the mansion when the call went out, the worst possible one. One of their people was in trouble. He had sprinted across campus and soon the jet was roaring through the air, at the limits of what its invisibility would handle.

Warren arrives moments later and chimes in over the comms.

"Rogue, I have eyes on you. I'm going to try and put the jet down behind you so we can get her out," Warren says.

There is no obscuring the downwash as the jet comes in fast to settle on the far side of Monet from Rogue... And the threat. The hatch opens and Warren is standing in it. His eyes are on Kara, but he calls out to the others across the ten or so foot distance from the jet to Monet. "Time to go yet?"

Heather Danielson has posed:
"Not unless -you- let this go. Let's go somewhere and -talk- Kara. This isn't you. You don't want to hurt people. You -never- want to hurt people. Seriously. Think back. How often have you spent worrying over whether you'll really hurt someone."

Heather does not let go. She is basically looking like a human backpack being worn backwards.

As others speak, she calls out, "Kara. We know that some external influence is affecting you. Making you behave differently. But it can't change your memories of how you used to behave. Please..I am begging you... PLEASE remember.!"

And yeah, she's just hanging there, adjusting her grip to hold on tighter. But that just puts her RIGHT in reach of Kara at the worst possible distance... vulnerable.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue's observation of Monet is that her injuries are far too extensive to move her, and the situation is still active, so there's nothing she can do but try and cool it down. Her eyes are up on Kara who is getting attacked by Heather, and then she drops them to Val who is chiming in too, but with a chance visible... Rogue snaps a glove off her right hand and launches in to the sky, flying right at Kara at full speed!

Fists forward, one bare! Her intent is to slam right in to Supergirl!

Reed Richards has posed:
Old Man Richards wasn't at home, that much is understood otherwise he's have been in the car but he's not. There is a rent in reality and Reed Richards steps through with the sort of casual confidence reserved for the most senior of heroes. His voice is utterably reasonable, "Kara, your cousin and I are very concerned by you behavior."

Kara Danvers has posed:
Supergirl looks down to Heather, annoyed. She's about to move to brush her off...except then Rogue launches herself this way. Her eyes widen, but...she proves that despite the unbridled anger she seems to be having, there's still some of the heroine in there. Instead of having Heather be the center of a Supergirl/Rogue sandwich, she spins 180 degrees at superspeed, turning so Heather's on the opposite side. "Let GO!" she repeats...but this time, there's almost the tone to her voice that it's more for concern for Heather than because of just being super-angry.

This does, however, mean that she's turned her back to Rogue, committing to whatever the X-Man does as she heads at her. Again, the constant shifts on her attention means that she's preventing from cutting loose with the heat vision on Valeria, except an angry comment snapped at both her and her father. "I don't need your concern!!"

Warren Worthington has posed:
Warren moves as soon as Rogue does. He runs down from the jet over to Valeria and Monet.

"Hey girl, looking good," Warren says lightly to Monet, eyes up on the threat. "Feel like getting picked up by a billionaire and taken home?"

Warren glances in Valeria's direction as she scans. "Is it alright to move her?" he asks Valeria seriously.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix is in bad shape. Her body currently registers around three hundred separate bone fractures to varying levels, her spine is broken in three places, at least two of her ribs have been left in the second building she was thrown through, and one of her lungs is now dribbling down the defiant Heather's foot as the girl interposes herself between Monet and Kara and the others come in to save the day.

There are plenty of other things horrifically, catastrophically broken in the girl and far worse no doubt. but let's limit ourselves for the purposes of space!

Reed Richards has posed:
Old Man Richards nods slowly, "That's good, then stand down so we can treat this girl you've nearly killed, Then we can talk about the kryptonite." Reed smiles to the X-Men as he heads over. "Hello Angel, Val what is Monet's status?"

Heather Danielson has posed:
Almost shaken off by the speed of the turn, Heather damn near pukes. Nope. Her face goes just a bit green from the motion sickness. I mean she's never moved at superspeed, and NEVER been spun that fast. But she also knows throwing up right in Kara's face would not really be very helpful here.

So she visibly swallows the bile and shakes her head. "You want to hurt anyone else... you're going to have to kill me first Kara. At least here. Seriously sis. Let's -talk- this out." And then she looks to the others, "Attacking her is just going to make her defend herself. This isn't her..." and she turns her face back to Kara. "This isn't you. You've got to know that... So either stop this, or take me out the hard way. I know which I prefer, but I'm good with either option." she says, lifting her chin and bracing for the incoming death-by-Kryptonian.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue's flight speed is nearly at her max, but she slows it down rapidly right as she reaches Kara, not wanting to bull her over like a ... bull! Instead she just slams in to her from behind, and wraps her one arm around the woman's shoulders to hold her in place, while her right hand snaps around to grab Kara by the throat. Bare hand of the Belle grasping the throat of the Kryptonian.

"Lets put ya t'bed for now, shall we?" Rogue whispers in her sultry voice in to the blonde's ear as she opens up her absorption powers, attempting to drain Kara in to herself!

Rogue remains latched on to Supergirl, holding her up while the process starts, the group just hovering there in mid air.

Kara Danvers has posed:
Supergirl gets grabbed. She struggles a bit, but her power is already being drained as soon as Rogue's hand closes around her throat, and it's not like Rogue's a slouch in the strength department herself. The Kryptonian struggles, and starts to try and fly up...all for about three seconds. Then her eyes roll back, and her powers give out...as does her consciousness.

Valeria Richards has posed:
Tending the wounded is not an easy thing when you are not actually a doictor even though you know as much as any MD. so with all the broken bones and and vertebrae and stuff means being careful.

Angel gets a shake of her head while she punches a few other things in to her computer while answering him and her father. "Not good. Gonna have to do some messy looking readjustment and restrain so she can move without falling apart. I need time." she states and starts working on doing what she can, gently positioning limbs but this will clearly be painful. "I am so sorry sweetie. But I gotta do this as she pulls a little pill shaped opbjecty and wiggles it underneath before she swipes an icon on her wrist computers holo display and suddenly a whole mess of blue conpression bandages surround and bind Monet rather tight an drigidly wlth only her face exposed. It's a simulation of her fathers rtestrain sretching grappling from all those fights with ben Grim but for imrobv traction. It'll have to do.

Once wrapped up Val nods to Angel for the go ahead.

Heather Danielson has posed:
"Come on Kara. Let's talk about... oof!" Up they go! Heather is still holding on to her teammate. To her surrogate sibling. She is an only child herself. But look, up in the sky. Okay she's watching Kara's face... and Heather knows diddly squat about Rogue. "Stop trying to attack. I told you it won't..."

... Aaaaaaand then Kara passes out. Then Heather narrows her eyes, "What did you do to her?!" she demands of Rogue. Hopefully.. the other flying woman will be holding up everyone so that Heather doesn't learn all about skydiving without a parachute.

Warren Worthington has posed:
"You're a Richards, you can make time, can't you?" Warren quips, but his face is dead serious as watches Rogue. He adjusts his crouch to take off if need be, and adjust his blue and white uniform subconsciously. "There's a follow up pick up line in there somewhere, but I'll save it for another day."

Warren shoots Valeria an appreciative glance when Monet is suddenly bound up for transport. "I owe you," Warren says with a grin. "Actually. You need anything, I'm there."

The winged mutant bends forward and gently scoops up Monet in his arms. He turns carefully and then breaks into a run for the jet. He places Monet on the floor and slams the hatch button. As quickly as he can, Warren secures Monet to the floor, then runs for the controls.

"Great work, Rogue. Just... Be careful. We need you, too. I'm getting Monet out," Warren says over comms.

There is a roar and massive downdraft. The invisible jet leaps into the air, banks in the direction of Westchester and blasts across the sky.

"Prep the medbay, it's really bad. /Really/ bad," Warren radios ahead.

Reed Richards has posed:
Old Man Richards sighs and moves forward to reteive the Kryptonian from the field of battle. Seeing she is properly secured.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
And Monet is being whisked away. the girl is in a sorry state. One that is best being treated in emergency facilities once she's stabilized. She's not going to mobile under her own power for ahile.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue drops to the ground with Kara, her hand still around the woman's throat for several moments before she rips it away with a scowl on her face. It's clear that the Belle is struggling with the emotions that she pulls from Kara's mind, all of the memories, the power surge, it's a lot to take on... Kryptonians are not your average kind of person to absorb!

Rogue falls backward on to her butt on the ground, releasing Kara to whomever wants to rush toward her and take her. Falling back on to her hands, Rogue looks up to the sky and releases a heavy groan. She turns on to her right side, and slams a fist in to the ground once, twice, three times until there's a hole deeper than her elbow! She looks up toward the X-Men jet taking flight, just in time to close her eyes tightly again, and then passes out. The Belle just slumps on the pavement where the crater had been made by the fight.

Heather Danielson has posed:
Well, since Heather was holding onto Kara, she puts her own feet on the ground.. and when Kara is released, she catches her friend. "I asked what you did to her." she says sternly towards Rogue. But she's already speaking into her comm, "Titans. Supergirl has been somehow incapacitated. I have her. I am bringing her home." she says.

She's not really planning to let folks she's never met or interacted with come up and start poking and prodding Kara.
