Date of Scene: 08 July 2022
Location: Swimming Pool / Patio Deck
Synopsis: A float in the pool on a hot summer day
Cast of Characters: Kitty Pryde, Bobby Drake

Kitty Pryde has posed:
It's a beautiful day in Westchester. The sun is out, with just a small fluffy cloud here or there. Just the lightest breeze, which makes somewhere like the pool a very inviting place to be to beat the summer heat.

Two people are currently using the pool. Kitty Pryde is in a deep blue string bikini, floating in a chair with foam arms to keep it above water, and those make a good spot for a drink holder. She's got a glass of something there in the cupholder, condensation beading on it suggesting how cold it is. Kitty has a pair of sunglasses on as well.

Also floating in the pool on a blow up float in the shape of a baseball mitt is Lockheed. The mitt has a Chicago Cubs logo. The dragon is flopped over on his back, letting the sun soak his belly as he snoozes. There's music coming from the patio sound system. It's currently playing ABBA, Staying Alive.

Bobby Drake has posed:
And then there is Bobby Drake. Literally the only X-Man who has a better way to beat the heat, BUT - his way does not involve X-Ladies in bikinis. And so he has found his way down to the pool, and approaches slowly. Cautiously. Quietly. As he spots the current occupant is one Katherine Pryde.

Bobby toys with the idea of doing something refreshing for his friend - well, refreshing for him, probably chilly for her. But things have played straight for a while, so in lieu of any form of prank, he decides to announce his presence politely.

The clatter of ice cubes dropping into a glass can be heard as Bobby chills off Kitty's drink as he continues his approach to the pool, wearing a pair of board shorts and flip flops. And some sunglasses, because, he wants to try to look as cool as Scott.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Behind the sunglasses, Kitty opens up one of her eyes which had been closed before hearing that tinkle of ice going into her drink. She looks from the drink to the patio, spotting the familiar face approaching.

"Hey, thanks for the refresh," she says, picking up the glass and taking a sip of the contents. "So nice of you that I won't even ask if Scott knows you've been raiding his closet," she teases.

She takes another sip and then stows the drink back in the cup holder. "Have to enjoy myself while I can before I wade back into the not as enjoyable pool of the work force."

Bobby Drake has posed:
"No prob. Was sorely tempted to put 'em some place else, but..." Bobby flashes a grin as he kicks off his flip flops and heads towards the side to slip into the water. "And I consider that a compliment. Fearless leader knows how to dress!"

He nods at Kitty's lament as he slowly eases himself into the pool, a gentle swing of his arms and then he floats forward. "Sabbatical time over? Real world intruding?" He laughs. "I feel you. What are you going to be doing?"

Kitty Pryde has posed:
The Jewish girl lets out a sigh. For a change she doesn't have her Star of David necklace on, but that's so she doesn't end up with a tan line from it, or have the pool chlorine affect it. It's sitting over with her stuff on a table next to a lounge chair.

"That's the question. I guess I've probably decided on trying to get something at Stark. At this point I'm just procrastinating," she says, adding a chuckle on to the last part.

"What've you been up to? What is new and exciting in the world of The Drake?" she asks. Kitty turns her head towards Lockheed. "Hey that would have been a good name for you too," she tells the dragon. But Lockheed just slumbers on, oblivious. He likes the sun.

Bobby Drake has posed:
"I mean, why do today what you can put off until tomorrow?" Bobby winks at Kitty and then sinks under the water for a moment. He emerges just to the side of her, atop of an iceberg. Because it's easier than grabbing one of the pool floats, and totally biodegradeable!

"Nothing with me, no." He smiles over towards Lockheed, frowning a bit as the dragon slumbers. He'd have played the ice cube game with him, but he has learned not to wake the dragon. "I probably should do something at some point, but...." He shrugs. "Procrastination."

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty's drink is lifted again so she can sip from it, then back into the holder. "Have you been giving any thought to whether there's anything you want to do," Kitty says, and then gives a finger wave out towards the horizon before adding, "out there? I know you've seemed to enjoy teaching so far, but is that what you want for your career? Or for now at least?" she asks him.

Using her hands, Kitty turns the raft 180 degrees and then gives it one more sweep of her hands for propulsion to get her back towards the middle of the pool. "Oh I need to decide what to do for my birthday. Have a nice modest pool or beach party? Or go have a drunk and depraved 21st pub crawl?"

Bobby Drake has posed:
"I've decided I want to be independently wealthy," replies Bobby as he pushes some ice flows out to start a casual movement of his ice berg around the pool. "Teaching is ok, but I swear, the kids are getting ruder and ruder. I'm almost a 'get off my lawn' guy."

He rotates his ice berg so he can watch her, and thinks for a moment. "Porque no los dos?" he asks, shrugging and spreading his hands. "Let's do a beach party in Australia, and then have Yana zap us here for a pub crawl. Celebrate it twice/"

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Kitty Pryde grins as she floats there with Bobby. "That's not a bad idea. Although, it's the middle of winter in Australia. We'd need to pick somewhere north of the equator if we want summer weather," she points out. "We could go hit the Med. Though you'd probably only go if it was a topless beach," she teases.

The music moves on to the next song. This time it's Peter Gabriel playing Solsbury Hill. Kitty has a retro playlist going, that's for sure.

The young woman draws in a breath and lets out a sigh. "Independently wealthy has its advantages," she confirms. She did have a year or, well, sort of that. Even if she still never really took true advantage of the wealth made available to her.

Bobby Drake has posed:
"Right right...maybe Thailand. That's got the right time zone, and it's tropical there." Bobby leans his head back against the ice berg, letting himself float along, his gaze sweeping over towards Kitty. "I don't really need that, I don't think." he says, responding with a slightly more serious tone than her jest would suggest.

"Why don't we come up with some kind of scheme? I mean, you're got the brains, I've got the looks, let's make lots of money?"

Kitty Pryde has posed:
The middle comment gives Kitty a small smile. "I don't know that I have the entrepreneurial mindset," she says after thinking quietly for a few seconds. "I'd just want to tinker and build stuff, but imagine I'd quickly get tired of dealing with business aspects," she tells him.

"It was like that at Fisk. Not really a technology company, and so a lot of marketing and sales people. I tried to keep my head out of most of those kinds of meetings and just focus on the infrastructure I was implementing for them." She gives a few small sweeps of her hand to give the floating chair a little more momentum.

Lockheed wakes up, streeeeeeetching and then letting out a yawn. He looks around the pool, yellow eyes going to Bobby. He finally flips over onto his belly to stand on all four legs. A few sweeps of his wings brings him over to Kitty where he lands in her lap. Her hand goes to rub his head gently as he curls back up there.

Bobby Drake has posed:
Excited at Lockheed's wake up, Bobby fires off a few small snowballs for target practice.

"Yeah, well. That's the challenge, I guess. You just need an idea, then a way to do it, then the wanting to do it, then..." He chuckles. "That's almost as much work as a real job."

Bobby decides to aid Kitty's quest for momentum, sending a little torrent of snow at the float. But not at her. He is being respectful today. For some reason.

Kitty Pryde has posed:
Lockheed is pretty darn agile, dodging the snowballs before finally settling into Kitty's lap. "You're going to have to get someone to heat the pool at this rate," she says with a little chuckle as Bobby adds more ice and snow to the pool.

"I suppose I could just keep devoting myself to saving the world full time. Been at least a week since someone tried to kill me. What would it be like not having that happen on such a regular basis?" she asks in a wry tone.

Not that she'd give that up for the world. Actually sort of the opposite, she does it for the world.

Bobby Drake has posed:
"That's not my problem," replies Bobby flashing a warm grin. "Besides, isn't cooling things off the whole idea?"

He sends the iceberg into a slow, lazy spin. "Who tried to kill you most recently? I've been lucky enough to avoid it since..." He trails off, and the good humored face falls. Since he was bitten by a vampire, nearly died, and lost his powers for weeks.
