Date of Scene: 08 July 2022
Location: Labs - Titan's Tower
Synopsis: No description
Cast of Characters: Heather Danielson, Caitlin Fairchild, Kara Danvers

Heather Danielson has posed:
Whatever mode of transport that brought Heather and Kara back to the tower managed to do it quickly. Heather is strong enough that carrying the petite Kryptonian doesn't slow her down at all. The moment she is off the craft, she is going wherever she is directed. But she is moving with all due haste.

"C'mon. C'mon... stay asleep for just a little bit longer." she mutters, "God, what did that girl -do- to her?" she asks anyone around. She has no idea who Rogue is.. or what the girl does. In fact, I tried to ask what happened but everyone ran off rather than talk to me."

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
The Titans general alert had gone out, letting everyone at the Tower know to prep for a serious incident. Security systems activate, power is diverted into defense systems, and everyone gets a pinging notice (impossble to ignore) that an Emergency Is Happening.

Cait takes down some details from Heather while the blonde's incoming with Kara in tow. She's standing on the launchpad with a strained expression, hastily binding up her hair to get it out of her face. In bright pink scrubs, she actually looks like a first-line medical responder.

The second the hatch pops, Caitlin's inside and moving. She stops to give Heather the briefest of once-overs, just to ensure the blonde's not past her point of self-repair, then lifts Kara carefully into a gurney and rushes her into the Tower.

Down in the labs Caitlin pauses long enough to wash up and wear gloves, and instructs Heather to do the same. Kara's wheeled into the 'containment chamber', which the Titans use for a variety of purposes. It's sturdy enough that even a Kryptonian would find a little trouble trying to smash their way clear.

"Okay Heather, I gotta start prepping equipment. Tell me exactly what happened," she says. "Kara went... did I hear that right? Kara went nuts? Was she having a tantrum or was she in like, some kind of fugue...?" Caitlin heads into a second storage area, with a pair of waldo arm controls set under a large monitor. While she listens to Heather, Caitlin starts (very, very carefully) transferring their tiny sample of Kryptonite into a portable refractory core.

Heather Danielson has posed:
The weirdest thing about all of this.. at least for Heather, is that this is about the first time she's ever come back to base after an incident, and -not- been healing herself or whatnot. She took no damage in the encounter... thanks to Kara.

She nods her head, does what she is told without hesitation and without asking questions like.. why... or ... are you sure? She just does as she is told. And when she is asked to explain, she takes a breath.

"I was in New York to meet with a designer who was interested in having me as the spokesperson for their clothing line. But.. that's not the point. I was driving back to return my rental car when I saw the ruckus unfolding." A deep breath taken, and she adds. "I had already been told that Supergirl'd been acting odd. Angry... like she was under the influence of something -making- her dark side come to the surface. Don't ask me to explain that. The way I see it, she was going from Anakin to Darth Vader due to the Emperor's manipulations."

She smirks and shakes her head, "Sorry. Nerd terms, best way I can explain it. Anyhow, I got on the scene and she had some other woman in her grip... the woman had been beaten to a pulp. And I mean a true pulp. If that woman doesn't have some sort of healing ability, I doubt she'll live. But... I tried to talk her down, and other people showed up. A bunch of others. They seemed to know the wounded woman whose name I never got. I think I may have bumped into the woman in the past sometime, but.. she was pretty unrecognizable. Anyhow..."

Another pause, and she starts pacing, obviously agitated. "Supergirl tried to laser eye another woman who showed up. A woman who could fly and was strong too by the way. No idea who she is.... but she's got the cutest southern accent, and brown hair with a white stripe down the middle. That stood out. Anyhow, I jumped to grab onto Supergirl. Figuring that if she was going to hurt someone, it's better that it be me than some bystander. And Supergirl even turned when the other woman charged her.. to make sure that I didn't go splat. That woman touched her... put her hand on Supergirl's throat... and something happened. Supergirl looked like she was fatigued... then tried to fly up and away and only passed out. Nobody told me why. But they evacuated the wounded woman and I called for a pickup."

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara starts to wake, eyes fluttering open, as she starts to wake, in the containment room. "What the..." She mumbles a bit, as her eyes open, trying to get her bearings. "Where...what..." She looks around, and starts to remember. She moves to stand up. "Where am I?!" she demands, as she looks at the room. "Let me out of here!"

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
Caitlin nods along, listening to Heather while focusing on the task at hand. "Brown hair, white stripe..." Caitlin frowns. "I think that's ringing a bell but I can't quite place her. And she choked Kara out, one-handed? That's pretty impressive. She must be crazy strong."

Caitlin looks over her shoulder at the sound of the Kryptonian waking up. "Oh crabapples," she hisses, and starts urging the crystal into the refractor core. It's inserted, sealed shut, and passed out through a secure hatch that decontaminates the exterior of the lead-lined core.

Caitlin brings the tube over to the containment room and inserts it into the emitter matrix. "Kara-- Kara, it's Caitlin," she says, raising her voice unconsciously. "You're OK. You're safe. You had a bad incident, you..." she glances at Heather. "Someone got hurt, I mean. I just need you to be calm for me until I figure out what's wrong. Okay?"

Her tone and demeanour are as conciliatory and maternal as possible-- but Caitlin has one hand on the emitter controls just in case things go from bad to worse very suddenly.

Heather Danielson has posed:
Shaking her head, Heather follows behind Caitlin if allowed.. or as far as she is allowed. "That's the weirdest part. She didn't -choke- her out. Trust me, I had an up close view. I was hanging from Supergirl like a baby carrier. She just had her hand on her throat, but wasn't squeezing. It's like whatever happened, was conveyed through the flesh. Maybe some sort of weird alien virus?" she asks.

"Kara. You saved my life." she adds, falling silent while Cait spoke to Kara, and then speaking up once more. She remains on hand... sure, of the strong Titans, she is the least strong, but if Kara is weakened, even short term... she -might- be able to help there.

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara doesn't seem much inclined to calm at the moment. She looks around. "Caitlin." Her voice is flat. "So once again, being held in the tower, against my will." She starts over towards the door. "Let me out of here, or I'll tear the Tower down around your ears!" she shouts, angrily. "Heather, talk some sense into her!" she demands, and she raises a fist like she's planning to slam it into the door of the containment room.

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
Caitlin blinks at the anger in Kara's tone. She's seen Kara mad before, but this is altogether different. Just a little unhinged, even. She glances at Heather, then looks back to Kara.

"Okay, okay! Wait!" she says. Fingers open the refractor core cover and the emitter matrix starts filling the room with gradually increasing amounts of Kryptonite radiation. "All right, I won't-- please don't break the door down," she says into the microphone. The feed from the cameras in the containment room, and monitor inside the room flickers slightly as trace levels of gamma emissions start to impact the electronics. "It'll just take me a minnute to unlock," she assures Kara. Caitlin's a really good liar where patient health is concerned! "Can you tell me about saving Heather? It sounds to me like you spared her a whole lot of pain today."

She goes over to the heavy reinforced airlock door and starts *clanging* on it as if trying to unlock the thing. Just needs to buy enough time for the radiation to take the starch out of Kara's skirt!

Heather Danielson has posed:
Sighing, Heather shakes her head. "Kara. You are not acting like yourself right now." she says, moving to stay beside Caitlin. "Remember what I said.. you -don't- want to hurt people. That's not you. Think back.. growing up. Who is Kara? Please tell me that.. and yeah, you saved my backside something good tonight. I didn't wanna get smooshed between the devil and the deep blue bodysuit."

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara does, in fact, hesitate, taking Caitlin's banging as an attempt. "I've been locked up against my will, Heather. I.." She frowns. "Wait. Wha--" And that's about as much time as it takes her to notice. Kara lets out a cry of pain, as the kryptonite radiation starts to flood the chamber.

In a voice tight with pain, she cries out "I knew you people were going to use it!! Turn it off!!" She hangs onto the door now, as if it's giving her support, as another small cry of pain escapes her lips. "Turn it off!" Green K hurts. A LOT.

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
Heather's extemporizing earns her an encouraging nod. A silent 'good work' is mouthed and Caitlin gives Heather's upper arm a grateful squeeze. It buys enough time for the refractor matrix to come online.

Caitlin presses her lips into a thin line. "I will, Kara, but you're gonna have to calm down for me," she tells the Kryptonian woman. The redhead walks back over to the monitors and braces her hands against the control panel. To show good faith, she closes the shutter partway to reduce the flow of bosons from the Kryptonite. She also starts bringing the Tower's reactor online and calibrates the emissions output to match the wavelength of cosmic energy produced by a red sun. "I've got these linked into each other Kara," Caitlin warns her friend. "Just sit back and take a radiation bath. If you start attacking the containment unit, the green K comes back online. And I'll leave it on until you pass out."

Kara Danvers has posed:
She might not WANT to, but Kara is clearly in pain. "Fine, whatever, just turn it off!" She backs away from the door a few steps, holding her hands up a bit in the classic non-aggression stance. "Don't do this, Caitlin. Just let me go. Please." she asks.

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
"Hey I don't like doing this any more than /you/ like me doing this," Caitlin protests. "So it's either a radiation bath or I call /Raven/ down here to go digging through your brain. A little Kryptonite poisoning isn't gonna mess you up, but a trip through memory lane with Rachel will earn you a referral to a psychiatrist," she warns Kara.

Still, the blonde is calming down, and Caitlin watches the admixture of radiation shift towards the type emitted by red stars. "Tell me what happened," she suggests, in a soothing voice. "It's not like you to get in fights. Or to hurt Heather. She seemed pretty rattled," she says, watching the blonde quietly slip out.

"Is this.... are you mad about something in specific? Is there someone messing around in your brain? Talk to me," she pleads.

Kara Danvers has posed:
"I didn't /hurt/ Heather. I stopped Heather from /getting/ hurt." Kara says, defensively. "I..." she honestly seems a little confused. "I don't know, Caitlin. I know I was...I was trying to get the kryptonite so it couldn't be used against me." And that leads to a slightly bitter little laugh. "And now look where we are." Her cells are absorbing the red solar radiation, dampening and canceling out the yellow solar radiation that gives her her powers.

"I..." She seems to be reflecting some on recent events, at least. Unfortunately, the thing that's giving her this clarity isn't going to last long, but it is, for the moment, at least, working. "Oh, Rao. What did I do..." She pales, looking like she wants to vomit. Whether from the memories or the radiation, who's to say?

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
Caitlin makes a soothing sound in the back of her throat, and pats the air between them. "It's OK. Worry about that later," she tells Kara. "You weren't right in the head at the time. You know I've had problems with that, too, and everyone tells me 'it's not your fault'."

A beat passes. "I mean, I know that doesn't *help*," she admits with uncomfortable honesty. "But, y'know, it's not like you were doing it on purpose." Her eyes flicker to computer readout where more data's been synthesized and dispensed for her to review. Police reports, witness statements-- Caitlin sends a memo out to the DEO and SWORD to let them know Kara's safely in custody.

The casualty report she pushes aside, refusing to acknowledge it.

"Okay so you said.... you were trying to get the kryptonite?" she hazards. "There isn't any Vitamin K out there. Kal-El told me he's got all of it stored safely. Where could it even have come from?" she wonders aloud.

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara's voice gets more bitter. "Except that there's some right here. Because you just used it on me. Your "friend". So I guess I wasn't so wrong, was I?" She stands, pacing back and forth like some kind of trapped animal. Caitlin can almost see her getting worse, the anger starting to return.

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
"Yeah, 'my lab' counts as 'locked up'," Caitlin tells Kara with a dry lack of amusement. "But if you want to find someone else in the country who knows anything about Kryptonian biology, be my guest. How do you feel about NOWHERE?" she inquires. "I mean, they're a bunch of jerks, but they're *science* jerks."

"Everyone on the team's got some kind of weakness or liability or *something*, Kara, and no one likes having a pressure point pinched. You stay here, you behave, you won't get the dose of the green stuff. Because-- be honest here-- if I hadn't done that, you were literally going to punch your way out through the security doors, weren't you?"

Kara Danvers has posed:
"YES, I was going to punch my way out. I'd do it now if I could. You're locking me up against my will, Caitlin! The same thing that America and Vivian tried the other night." She stalks up to the door and slaps her palms against it, but she's been bathing in red solar radiation...it's not going to do much more than make noise.

"Let me OUT of here!!!" The scientist in Caitlin might notice pieces; she had a moment there where she was almost lucid; almost /Kara/ again, but now she seems to be sliding back into whatever problem she had before.
