Cast of Characters: Jessica Cruz, Jason Todd

Jessica Cruz has posed:
A woman wearing moss-green glowing mage robes with hood pulled up over her head, is by a curio store in Gotham City. She came by previously to investigate something that could help a quest of hers and... well... she got sidetracked. This time she won't let her guard down. A six-point start can be seen glowing from the shadow of the hood as she puts her hand to the wall. "Yes - it's there..." she muses softly, glancing to her left hand where a ring is glowing. She is considering the best way to enter the building - not konwing that some jewel thieves are already in the process of breaking in for she's in the back, finding a way to enter that won't set the alarm off...

Jason Todd has posed:
It's a good thing that the thieves already tripped the silent alarm, themselves, then. If only to save the woman from the awkwardness that would come with potentially triggering it herself.

While she is still looking for a way inside, two of the thieves are busy trying to loot the jewel display cases. Two more are in the back office attempting to open the safe on the believe that the most valuable pieces would be found there. So far it has not gone well for them.

Keeping watch, a fifth thief is standing in the main store room amidst his two case looting friends. Out front a white van idles with a driver anxiously waiting for the guys inside to finish the job so they can all get out of there.

Meanwhile... 5 blocks away, Red Hood was staking out an apartment building. He has been trying to hunt down a drug dealer that is selling drugs cut with even more deadly substances in an effort to stretch his supply. Two are in the hospital already, each in critial after taking the poisoned drugs. Red Hood would be damned if he lets this guy get away. Only the silent alarm alert flashes across the inside of his helmet. He knew he was closest to the scene. Even closer than GCPD. With a growl of frustration, he revved his bike and raced toward the jewelry store.

Jessica Cruz has posed:
Beryl finally hears a noise and realizes what's going on. "Oh no you don't!" she whispers softly as she zips up and over the building. She stands in the doorway of the store. "Enough!" she yells as she extends her hand as nightmarish constructs erupt from her ring, making the entire store glow a dark green. "You are not going to interfere with my work." A serpent construct wraps around the two going after the jewel cases as she simply aims a rifle made of light at the one in the middle. "Kneel." A faint sound of a man laughing maniacially can be heard by all, but coming from seemingly nowhere. Good thing Beryl's face is hidden - she isn't quite sure if she's in control or not, but since her and her ring are on the same page for once, it's quit delightful.

Jason Todd has posed:
The two case looters yell in alarm as they are wound up in the constructs, helpless. The lookout is in the midst of a full blown freak out when the weapon of light is aimed at him. He tries to raise his pistol but is so scared he fumbles it and it falls to the foor where it goes off from the impact. Fortunately the bullet imbeds itself in the ceiling rather than striking anyone in the room. But the gunshot alerts the two in the back. They still can't get the safe open but with gunfire, they are now aware of a problem out front.

Leaning around the door frame, one fires his pistol three times toward the glowing woman.

Now only two blocks away Red Hood is closing at a high rate, but is still won't arrive for another thirty seconds or so.

Jessica Cruz has posed:
Jessica Cruz got distracted by the two who is shooting at her. She dissipates the construct shotgun and raises a barrier when she sees the pistol peeking around the corner as she raises a hand - a reflective barrier suddenly spawns and bounces the bullets back - she hears the scream as one of them struck her mark - but she stoped focusing on the guy in the middle of the room while dealing with the new threat.

Jason Todd has posed:
As the bullets are deflected back toward the two hiding in the office and one of them is hit, they disappear from sight. The would be lookout in the front room seems to have found his courage again. As the glowing woman is busy with his buddies in the office, he lunges in an attempt to try and tackle her. Little does he know...

The sound of a high powered racing bike comes within range as Red Hood makes it to the scene.

It is the arrival of one of Gotham's vigilantes that is the breaking point for the getaway driver. He shits into gear and guns the motor, peeling away from the curb with the squeal of spinning tires.

Red Hood frowns. He taps a button on the bike. A tracing beacon launches from within the front cowling and secures itself to the van. He'll find it later. For the moment he swings off his bike, drawing his weapons. In his favor - at least he has a large red Bat-Like symbol on his chest. The bad guys do not.

"You okay?" he asks the glowing woman - just as that lookout is lunging. Maybe not..

Jessica Cruz has posed:
Beryl idly swings her elbow back at the man who was about to tackle her as she whirls to face the new person. The entire room is glowing a dark green and there are hard-light constructs all around - it would almost loook like a Green Lantern, but things are... off.. She raises her hands, a construct shotgun materializing... and dissipating as her shadowed face sees the bat symbol. Nobody would be foolish enough to wear that emblem unless htey were truly associated with Batman. Two robbers are stillw rapped in a construct snake that's idly threatening to bite them, and another is bleeding in the back room. Her face is compleetely shrouded - a six-point star can be seen under it glowing, focusing on you. "I take it that you are not my enemy..." she states softly. "I was searching for an artifact when I came across... this mess. I go by Beryl. You?"

Jason Todd has posed:
Red Hood skids to a stop, his pistols drawn. "Uh. Well if you're trying to stop them from robbing the place, yeah, we're on the same side. Can't say I know anyone around here that has your kind of firepower" he quips. Then the uninjured thief in the back leans out to fire an assault rifle toward the glowing woman and Red Hood.

Spinning out of the way he yells, "Look out!" He wouldn't have had time to try and help her even if he had tried. "Can you keep these three? I can take the back. How many are there?" Always confident even before he has the details.

Jessica Cruz has posed:
Jessica Cruz dodges out of the way, putting up that reflective barrier again, but the angle was wrong and the bullets bounced back away from the assailant. "Five. Two playing with the snake, the one I just cold-cocked, and two back there - I think the backfire hit one of htem - but apparently the other is fine..." She retreats to pick up the one she elbowed, holding him in front of her on green marionette strings, holding him in front of the door. "If you fire again, you will kill your companion!" she calls. "I will not regret it." She then whispers to Red Hood, "What are you going by?"

Jason Todd has posed:
Red Hood has to admire her ruthlessness. It was something he'd have done. If he'd have thought of it; using their own guys against them. As pot shots are taken from the back room, flying well wide just in an attempt to keep anyone from getting them, he looks back to the woman, "Red Hood. Look.. don't .. kill them. okay? The paperwork and lecture I'll get if they die is seriously not worth the satisfaction. Give me a minute. I'll clear them out."

A nod of his red helmet as he turns toward the alley beside the building. He holsters one pistol and draws a crowbar from the back of his jacket. There is a side door to the office. The crowbar is used to prize open the locks, the door swinging wide. He immediately steps inside, pistol raised and firing. Three times. Two more. Then silence. At least inside. In the distance sirens can be heard drawing closer.

"They're down" he calls, "I'm coming out." And he does, weapon lowered. He isn't about to cross, well, whomever she is.

Jessica Cruz has posed:
Beryl nods as she looks around. "Okay, where is it?" she asks - seeming nobody. She glances at the corner, then nods, going to the loot that the bad guys pulled from the counter. "This?" she asks. "Really? It just seems like a five-dollar Chinese knockoff." She then flinches. "Fine, fine. I get it." She tucks it into a pocket. She glances at you. "Sounds like we're about to have company." She then steps out of the shop and STARES at the motorcycle. Then back to Red Hood. "Oh my..." she whispers softly, her eyes staring intention ta Red Hood as she hears the sirens getting louder as the dark green creepy lights and constructs start to dissipate inside.

Jason Todd has posed:
He doesn't see what she's doing as he is walking up to the three thieves out front. He could just zip tie their wrists. But that wouldn't be very much fun. Instead, he aims his pistol at the chest of each man and fires once each.

While not dead, they may wish they were as the taser rounds erupt with jolts of electricity that leave them twitching and unconscious.

Red Hood turns but not till after she has seen.. whatever it was. He's focused on getting out of there. "They're all out. GCPD will be here in less than a minute. You might want to... construct or lantern or whatever it is you do and get yourself out of here. Just.. try not to do much more of this in Gotham? _He_ gets really unhappy." There wasn't really a doubt who Red Hood would be talking about.

Then he's trotting toward that bike. Holstering his pistol and slipping that crowbar back into his jacket, he revs the bike and is taking off. No gentlemanly concern to see she gets away, here.

He really must hate paperwork.

Jessica Cruz has posed:
Beryl nods slowly as she plants a tracker bug construct on Red Hood's motorcycle and takes off, the rest of her fell green light fading with her. She goes to a nearby rooftop and looks at the necklace, staring at it, not really sure if the voice in her head was being honest, or was trying to get her to commit petty larceny. Either way - it's done, and she has to figure out how how to accomplish her goal without her 'roommate' being the wiser.
