A Sticky Revelation
Date of Scene: 17 April 2020
Location: Stark Tower: Lambda Lab
Synopsis: Peter visits Riri at her lab, and shares a lot of secret information about his research...and about himself.
Cast of Characters: Peter Parker, Riri Williams

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter was nervous. He was taking his own backpack, leaving the company laptop behind.

He had aginized over this decision for days. In the end, he felt someone had to know. Stark was unavailable, and what he was planning could affect Riri...so, it had to be Riri.

Peter walked up to the heavy door leading to Riri's lab and tapped the intercom button.
Somehow, it seemed like a bad idea to show Riri how he could possibly open it.

"Riri? It's Peter. Is...is this a good time to talk?"

Riri Williams has posed:
The screen above the keypad next to the door clicks on, and a wave form appears on it as a neutral female voice greets the visitor. "Greetings, Peter Parker. Please come in. Riri's hands are full testing something." There's a thunk and a buzz, and the door unlocks.
Inside, Riri's hands are indeed full. A harness strapped across her chest contains an arc reactor, and cabling leads along it to the shoulders. Her arms are fully clad in a fairly form fitting gold armor that could only be bits of the Mark II pre painting. "Hey Peter! Just... testing stuff!" Indeed, the slab of steel about twenty feet away covered in melt marks and heat discolorations would indicate that.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter smiles wryly. "Yes, I can see that. I'll, uhm, wait until you're done."
Peter looked around the room, then says, "Uhm, you have security cameras in here?"

Riri Williams has posed:
"Don't worry, I'm mostly just tweaking stuff." She flexes one arm, although her stance is still a little hunched. Power armor is /heavy/. "And yeah, AISHA needs to see somehow. Ironworks security is pretty much just managed by the AIs for security reasons though. Otherwise anyone who sat at the security desk could see things they shouldn't. And AISHA listens to me, so we're all good. ...Unless there's a threat to me or something."

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter nods. He looks slightly nervous. He takes a deep breath, then says, "Uhm, can you...turn off the security, so no one else sees what's in here?"

He took another deep breath.
"I...I want to show you something."

Riri Williams has posed:
"AISHA, initiate security encryption until I say otherwise. Hush Hush." There's an affirmative beep, and Riri leans forward on a workbench to rest her arms a bit. "Got some kind of cool new project you want to surprise Mr. Stark with?"

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter nodded. He took out a small memory card, then handed it over to Riri. "I'd...like you to take a look at it for yourself. There's actually three projects in there. One is a framework for a covert communications system/AR information system. The second is a wearable computer design. The third...is an upgrade to a project I have been working on in my own time."

Riri Williams has posed:
Riri accepts the card a little awkwardly, being careful not to damage it with the enhanced strength granted by her armored arms. "Okay, let's get this plugged in. After I take these off..." Ater few moments for Riri to remove the harness and arms, plug in the card, and get on her AR goggles and a pair for Peter, they're ready.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter steps back as Riri pulls up the projects.

At first glance, they all seem like separate units. However, the names all reveal that they are connected.

SPIDER-COMMS. AR network, database to track and update information in persons of interest in the criminal community. Wayppoints, text/voice messaging system, file-sharing, all on a 5G independent network using the existing New York cell-tower network.

SPIDER-SUIT. A durable kevlar/wool mix, multi-layered for temmperature regulation, with a hish-speed computer sytem woven into the suit and mask, with modular sections to damaged parts of the suit can be replaced without replacing the entire suit. It also lays out the design of a virtual intelligence to control the functions of the suit.

WEB-SHOOTERS. A more-streamlined version of the current model, made with gold/titanium alloy, an improved spinneret system with increased functionality, with the capacity for additional modes based on hardware/software upgrades.

Riri Williams has posed:
"Ooooooh." This is... Very intersting. Riri flicks through the files, looking at schematics and tapping things occasionally to get extra details. "So you're building stuff for Spider-Man. Figured that kind of made sense since you're the one who takes all the pictures too. ...Is that the same alloy I'm using for the armor in the Mark II?"

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter replies, "It's a lighter mix. Since I'm not using it as armor, it's best used to remain durable..."

Something is different about Peter's voice, and it takes a moment to sort out.

The voice is no longer behind Riri.
It is behind and ABOVE Riri.

Riri Williams has posed:
Riri nods. "Yeah, that makes sense. I've made some new innovations on the Mark II, but I don't think I'm supposed to talk about them due to who I'm working with..." She turns around, trailing off and staring at Peter, who's on the ceiling. "...Okay, did I fall asleep at the lab bench again?"

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter is currently attached to the ceiling, by no visible means of support. Kinda like his life before he got hired by Stark. His body posture is with both hands and both feet places against the ceiling, his head looking up/down to look at Riri. It is a position both unusual...and familiar, featured in a hundred photos from the Bugle.

"No...you're not asleep. Although the idea of me featuring in your dreams is either interesting or uncomfortable."

Riri Williams has posed:
Blinkblink. "No, I more meant weird stuff happening. ...And I've had dreams about workin gin the lab before, and..." Riri waves towards the arms and harness again. "...Anyway. That explains a few more things. And I've got chemistry questions for you. Something similar to webbing, but maybe in a foam form would be useful for restraining people instead of having to heat seal plastic zipcuffs."

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter nods. "There should be another folder there." He drops, flips over in midair, landing lightly on his feet. "It should include the basic formula, as well as the five variants I made." He walks over to the AR terminal. "It also includes the webbing solvent I created."

Riri Williams has posed:
"So I'm guessing you get the webbing by using the spinnerettes instead of a more conventional nozzle." Riri swipes over to the relevant folder, calling up a modeling program herself and looking at a few various nozzle shapes. "With the amount you pack into one cartridge and without me actively using it for combat, I'd get aenough use out of one and I could fit it inside the Mark II easily enough..."

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter points out one of the formulae. "This is the most powerful variant. Has a tensile strength of 20 tons. I was able to stop a falling crane with that one." He points out the solvent as well. "I'm sure you could use a glass or plastic container in a fingertip or something."

He steps back. "The reason I'm telling you is, well...I'm going to lose this job unless someone knows why I will be late...frequently...when I cannot make it to work...If I seem tired or sleepy in the lab. Because I can't lose this job now."

Riri Williams has posed:
"Yeah. I'm thinking spraying soccer ball sized globs of foam. And you shouldn't need to worry about that too much if you're on the same kind of contract I am." Riri pushes the goggles back up onto her forehead, leaning back against a bench. "There's not really any fixed working hours, and not a lot of oversight. Mr. Stark likes to drop in and check things out occasionally, but I don't think it's very formal. I think half of it is him wanting to see what kind of stuff we can come up with."

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter sighs. "Well...I suppose that can work, then. But I have to tell him, anyway. I couldn't afford to make these the way I wanted to, because...well, I was as poor as a church mouse, leave us not gild the lily there." He looks to the formulae, then says, "I was actually thinking of something else. What would you think of a 'web grenade?'"

Riri Williams has posed:
"I can be there when you tell him if you want. You know... support." Because that's a thing normal people do, right? "Web grenade, hmmm. Could work. High pressure containment vessel, nozzles on the exterior, time or impact detonation options, maybe proximity too..." Aaaand nerd sniped.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter brings up one of the Web-Shooter subfolders, called Additional Web Configurations. It reveals a web "ball," created on the fly and filled with a high-pressure core of webbing, designed to "go off" within two seconds of impact and cover a 15-foot radius with sticky webbing.

Riri Williams has posed:
"Oh. More chemistry and fluid dynamics. See, this is how we're different. I jump straight to the mechanical side." Riri flicks the in progress design away. "Could probably have an optional foam payload for micromissiles, though. ...That one's actionally good. AISHA, save design note." Another acknowledging ping. "Looks like it should be good for getting groups."

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter nodded. "I also have a high-impact webbing configuration, one that can hit a person, knock them back, and web them to a floor or wall."

Riri Williams has posed:
"Nice. I'm working on some more less lethal weaponry myself. I've got a PEP and an electrolaser in the works. ...But yeah. Don't worry. Mr. Stark will be cool about it all." Riri pushes her goggles up again, offering a smile.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter looks...INCREDIBLY relieved. "Oh, thank God..." he says in a loud exhale. "I was so worried that I'd have a chance at a dream job, and I'd mess it up. Now I can even afford to go to ESU." He smiled wryly. "I'd gotten a scholarship to MIT...but I had to pass it up. I'd have had to move to Boston...and Aunt May wouldn't have made it through the winter. She's my responsibility, now."

Riri Williams has posed:
"Well, You shouldn't have to worry about it now. Stark takes care of his own. ...MIT was pretty nice, though. You could probably look into the internet courses they do." RIri leans over one of the arms on her bench again, making a few adjustments.

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter chuckled. "Actually...ESU's Neuroscience program is very advanced. Especially with Dr. Curt Connors. He's a pioneer in the field."

...when he's not rampaging through New York as the Lizard, of course.

"Well...I guess I'd better get to work, then. Keep the USB drive, it's a copy. You can go ahead and use what you can. Anything that can help fight crime without casualties can only help."

Riri Williams has posed:
"...Thanks. I'll have AISHA send you some of my own stuff you might find interesting too. I've got a lot of data on her architecture from when I was writing her. ...And I don't know how much of a sensor suite you could fit in that kind of mask, but I've got some schematics for that too."

Peter Parker has posed:
Peter grinned. "Yeah...wait till you see the code I've put together for the suit." He winked, then waved and headed for the door. "Thanks, Riri...this means a lot. And I don't have to say how much it will completely wreck my life if the secret got out..."
