Date of Scene: 26 July 2022
Location: D'Angelo Brownstone
Synopsis: Micola's mom finds out that Pietro proposed and she is overjoyed!
Cast of Characters: Micola Maximoff, Pietro Maximoff

Micola Maximoff has posed:
Micola hadn't told her mother yet. She didn't want to do it over the phone as it felt...wrong. So she'd asked Pietro if he wanted to surprise her mother with dinner at the D'Angelo home in Brooklyn. Given he'd agreed she'd ordered from her mothers favorite eatery and picked it up on the way. Sadly the quick one wasn't going to be able to run...unless they were arriving seperately.

The stairs up to the brownstone door are a bit uneven, but she gives a smile to Pietro as they reach the door, "If you can't see the ring don't worry, it's there." she tells him. Her mother would have dialed in on that really quick and that would have ruined the surprise really quick! She rings the doorbell and awaits the answer from her mother.

Pietro Maximoff has posed:
For such an occasion, he's dressed nicely. A shirt and tie, dress slacks, nice shoes - he'd met her mother, but still. This needs to be an impression. He even sat through the drive, not minding in this instance. She could see he was tense, a bit nervous - he wanted this to be perfect.

Pietro grins over at her. "Are you planning on making it a real surprise?" He wonders, quietly - lacing his fingers with hers as they hold hands. "Hopefully it is a good surprise for her."

Micola Maximoff has posed:
Micola laces her fingers with his and there is a smile to him, "I think it'll be a nice surprise for her, yes." she tells him. "I think the only thing my mom might mention is the time, but, we've discussed that part of things between us." she nods to this. She wasn't feeling any pressure or nervousness. "Everything will be alright. Just relax." she whispers to him.

Then the door is opening to show her mother. The older dark haired woman gives a look between them and there is a bright smile, "Oh this is a wonderful surprise! Come in, come in!" she greets them warmly as she reaches out to pull them in. "We brought dinner, mom." Micola states as she raises the bag. "We wanted to surprise you." she adds with a soft smile.

Pietro Maximoff has posed:
Several deep breaths are taken - fast as he is, it's not that easy to notice. "Relax. Easy for you to say." He whispers to her, good-natured but still a bit nervous. The pressure is there, like it or not. Game face time!

The smile that is on Pietro's face is genuine, upon seeing her mother. "Hello again! Yes, dinner and guests - hope we're not intruding?" He teases her. He steps in with Micola, his hand at the small of her back as they enter.

Micola Maximoff has posed:
Micola's mom doesn't seem a bit miffed that they have dropped by. It was a nice thing for her. "You're not intruding a bit. I only regret that I didn't vacuum before this." she tells them. The house was clean and probably kept like that regularly. "Mom, you've always been so worried about that." Micola shakes her head. She heads for the dining room, sitting the bag down.

There are pictures all over the place. Frames line the shelves and there are framed portraits on the wall. A lot of them are Micola when she was younger. Gasp! She isn't a natural blue haired woman. Her hair is naturally black. Oops!

"You and Pietro sit, I'll grab drinks and things." she tells the two of them. Giving them some time to speak while she disappears into the kitchen.

Pietro Maximoff has posed:
Quicksilver does look about, always curious upon entering a new place. "The house looks wonderful." He offers to the older woman. "Nothing to regret at all, I assure you." Pietro beams, even as he follows Micola to the dining room. Helping hands and all!

The pictures do get his attention, Pietro moves over to look at each in turn. "So many photos, all this history of your childhood." He grins. "Should I ask your mother about stories of the young Micola?" A waggle of his brows.

A nod to Micola's mother as she heads to get drinks, the man looking back to his fiance then. "Anything I can do to help?"

Micola Maximoff has posed:
Ariadne blushes when Pietro compliments the house and there is a smile, "You're too kind, Pietro." she tells him. "Oh I can tell you all the stories. We've got so many of them really." she calls from the kitchen. She was more than happy to throw her daughter under the bus!

Micola gives him a look, "Ask her about when I cut my bangs in middle school." she muses. "There are photos to go with that." she adds. When her mom leaves she reaches out to take his hand, "You can know that you are loved and that my mom will be fine." she tells him softly.

Pietro Maximoff has posed:
An impish smirk spreads over Pietro's face. "I had heard there was an indoor skating incident..." He teases to Ariadne in the kitchen, even as he winks at Micola. "I am sure that I will get a sharp elbow if I ask after too many stories."

A chuckle as she mentions the bangs. "I suspect most parents have a story of a self-inflicted haircut by their children." The man snickers. "I will not pretend that I did not cut my own hair... once." A shake of his head. At her comforting words, he nods - leaning in to kiss her cheek.

Micola Maximoff has posed:
"Oh, yes, that. She scuffed my freshly waxed floors!" Ariadne calls from the kitchen as she finishes getting drinks and other things. She'd be waving a wooden spoon if she had hands free. "Okay so I left that part out." Micola states as she looks to Pietro, "I won't do it in the apartment!" she adds quickly. She wouldn't either.

Drinks are returned to the table and everyone is settled into a seat.

"I'll dish up food." Micola tells them with a soft smile. "Oh you cut your hair as well?" she grins at him. The ring is back and can be seen! And the light hits it just enough to make it sparkle, catching Ariadne's attention almost immediately.

"Wait, what?!" she gasps with a happy little squeak. Uh oh. Mom caught up!

Pietro Maximoff has posed:
A gentle chuckle as he can hear the wrath from her voice, knowing that scuffed floors could certainly turn any mother's joy into aggravation. "Indeed. No scuffing the floors. Even I know better than that." Pietro winks to Micola. He pulls the chairs out for the women, letting them get settled before he does.

"I did, yes. Once. I was trying to impress a girl, when I started noticing that I liked them." The man admits, with a shrug. "It did not go well, and I did not impress her."

As Ariadne's exclamation occurs, he looks to Micola then Ariadne with a smile. "I was fortunate enough to have impressed your daughter, and she said yes."

Micola Maximoff has posed:
Micola squints at Pietro as he comments on 'even he knew better', "Mhm." she comments with a bit of a grump to him. It's just teasing though. She wasn't really upset. "Well, thankfully you don't have to worry about impressing another girl." she winks at him.

Then her mom has captured her hand from across the table and there is a laugh, "Ma, it doesn't detach." she tells her.

Ariadne is looking over the ring, "Oh it's so beautiful." she tells Micola. Then she looks up and between the two at the table, "She's a smart one." her mother grins to that. "I'm so happy for the two of you though, I know it feels sudden...but I'm guessing that it's not." she offers. "I'm going to have a son-in-law. This is...I need to start picking up magazines." she grins.

Oh no. Mom was about to go overboard!

Pietro Maximoff has posed:
He watches all unfold - taking so long from his point of view. Still, Pietro relishes every passing second - watching the joy and happiness on Ariadne and Micola's faces as the ring is examined. "Yes, no removing of the hand or finger." He teases his soon-to-be mother-in-law.

"She is quite smart, indeed - she impresses me every day." The man offers, with a nod and a smile. "It... may be faster than most people expect, but... I've had a lot of time to think on this. I hope it's not too fast for your blessing?"

"Magazines?" He looks to Micola, amused confusion on his face.

Micola Maximoff has posed:
Micola was seeing everything in real time. She wasn't sure if this was excruciating for Pietro, but she hoped that he was enjoying the time. "Oh I wouldn't take the hand off." she grins to that. "Can...can I tell others? I mean, I don't want to get anyone into trouble and I don't know protocols and such." she tells them. Ariadne then reaches across to take Pietro's hand as well, "It is not too fast. I think if you've both thought on it and she said yes then that's all there is to it. So yes, you have my blessing." she tells them.

Then Micola gives a soft smile, "You're going to make me blush." she tells him. Then she gives a grin, "Wedding magazines. She loves those things." she teases at that. "Now she has a reason to buy a bunch." she grins.

Pietro Maximoff has posed:
That... was a tricky question! "I think we need to tell my sisters first, so they can arrange a proper press release. And the Avengers." A chuckle. "I do not mind you telling your friends, if they can keep it hushed?" Pietro shares - knowing the want to tell people is great. A smile as she takes his hand, clasping her's warmly. "And thank you very much for your blessing. I mean to ask Micola's Grandfather as well, just to be proper." A nod.

A grin over to Micola. "You are just as beautiful blushing as not." He assures, ohing at the mention of the magazines. "That would make sense."

Micola Maximoff has posed:
Ariadne nods to this, "I will keep quiet on things until you can tell your sisters then, Pietro. I wouldn't want them to be surprised...because my friends are unable to keep a secret." she chuckles. "So we'll keep it hush hush. Just let me know when everyone is told." she nods. "And yes, asking her grandfather is a very good idea. I know her father hasn't been in her life, but her grandfather loves her like his own." she smiles to that.

Micola gives a look over to him, "Press release? Oh goodness." she breathes in deeply. Yeah, everything was starting to settle in. "We'll they have to do a background check and stuff on me? What if I don't pass?" she asks him. Then she blushes a bright red at his words and she takes a sip of her wine to calm herself. "I didn't want to tell you over the phone." she adds to her mother.

Pietro Maximoff has posed:
A nod of appreciation is given to Aridne, and a smile. "Thank you, very much. I will let you know when." He assures. A smirk at the mention that her friends cannot keep secrets. "Any tips on reaching out to him to let him know?" Pietro asks.

He reaches over, to pat Micola's hand. "I am sure Lorna trusts you." A nod. "No background check, that I am aware of. And don't fear passing any tests, either." A grin as he takes a sip of his wine as well. "In person was a better idea."

Micola Maximoff has posed:
Ariadne gives a look over to Pietro and there's a smile, "I'd rather not spoil anything for the two of you." she tells them. "I'll give you his phone number before you leave and I'd suggest speaking with him in person. Her grandfather is a big personality, but a real sweetheart when it comes to her." she points to Micola.

Micola squeezes Pietro's hand gently, "I'm just being a worry wart is all. I know it will all be alright." she smiles to him. "And yes, it was. How about we eat up before it gets cold?" she offers with a smile.

Pietro Maximoff has posed:
"I appreciate it. I will call him when it is a reasonable hour for him." The man assures. "And I'll travel there as needed, to ask in person." The blessing of being able to run across water. A grin then to Micola, Pietro all smiles.

"Yes, dinner. Let's celebrate with a meal and you two can speak over thoughts for the winter wedding?"

Micola Maximoff has posed:
"I think he's back home for now, so no need to walk on the water, Pietro." Ariadne teases him. Oh no, she was starting as well! But it was in good fun. "He is...well...I think I'll let you and Micola discuss that." she states. She didn't know if Micola had spoken at length about her grandfather really. "But yes, dinner. You'll have to eat up to keep up energy. As the next few months are going to go quickly." she states.

Then she blinks, "This Winter?" she asks. "We can make it work, yes." she grins.

Micola gives a smile, "I'll tell Pietro about grandpa later...and I'm not eating anything that goes to my hips, mom." she muses to her before she quiets to eat and make conversation after she's grabbed a few bites.
