Welcome to Earth!
Date of Scene: 27 July 2022
Location: Central Gardens - Atlantic Starport
Synopsis: First contact with Mona Lisa! Advance one level!
Cast of Characters: Mona Lisa, Ted Kord

Mona Lisa has posed:
SWORD agents scramble at the spaceport as an unidentified flying object is detected in Earth's orbit, just coming out of whatever method of faster than light travel it utilizes. The design of it is almost precambrian, like a silverfish, a sort of organic triangular prism with a fin on either lower corner and a plated, rounded top. A bubble cockpit sits on the very front, with a second bubble gunner position underneath it. Hailing frequencies are soon received on the communication console Ted had JUST closed the case of after repairing, and as the only Justice League member around, he's probably the most qualified to answer it...

A grainy, choppy image soon clears as connection is established between two very different pieces of technology (which Ted can pat himself on the back for later) as the form of... what appears to be a giant newt in armor is revealed, hard to tell if it and everything it's wearing is a shade of blue-green or if it's just the lighting of the ship. "People of Earth." the creature says in a feminine, but surprisingly human sounding voice, "I am Lieutenant Y'Gythgba of the Salamandrian Air Command, though as our intelligence has determined this name will be difficult for your mammal tongues to pronounce, you may address me as Mona Lisa for the duration of my mission. I come to Earth in pursuit of intergalactic fugitives and request permission to land at your..." She squints as she seems to look over something on one of her own monitors, muttering "You call that a..." before she shakes her head and more formally says "Space port." in the same tone as before.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord gets the call, flying patrol. "You got Beetle. Nah... not much. What's up? No it's no problem. I mean I got this Bug, cost me a buttload and I rather do stuff for you than bust a purse snatcher with it. I'll be there in a flash. Uhm, I think that's a personal question buuuut 500 million. I know, right? Could it fight a giant lizard? Never tried. Ok. Beetle out!" That port controller is too flirty, he thinks. He has a girl friend!

Then the communication comes through. He listens. This is a far cry from the Yeps showing up with their contagious little Yep dance. Why are so many aliens so serious. All righty, down to business.

"Greeting Lieutenant... Yiggy-ba. Mona Lisa will do. I am Blue Beetle, but most people call me 'Ted'. I am paralleling your course now. Please follow the landing beacon. Our local law enforcement is on hand. I'm sue they will be interested in your mission. Welcome to Earth and let me know if I can be of service to you, in my mammalian way." Tiniest smile at that.

Mona Lisa has posed:
"Affirmative." the extraterrestrial replies, following the beacon as instructed... though as the two ships fly along in parallel, Ted gets a notification that the other ship is scanning Bug. Nothing further happens however, until both ships have landed and the exit ramp is extended from the silverfish-looking alien ship. The newt-like alien soon comes down the ramp, but makes a beeline for Bug rather than walk out to meet the government agents that approach from the starbase, pulling up a hologram from one of the plates on the back of her wrist of a somewhat similar looking robot head with big, widely spaced eyes, appearing to compare it to the shape of Bug... only to shake her head, dismissing the hologram.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord hmphs. Apparently the Bug looks suspicious to Mona Lisa. He directs the JLA database to search for fugitives resembling the hologram's description. He doesn't land, no need to take up space. He flies out on his disks, a small bot accompanying him. Then the huge craft peels off to head for its regular parking space.

Yes, the Bug has a parking space. It's a perk for all the bots donated.

Ted looks at the SWORD and SHIELD types, lurking. Yeah all the LEOs are here.

"Hello. We have some customs officials and other law officers who would like to interview you. Does your ship require any servicing, fuel, supplies?"

Mona Lisa has posed:
The Justice League database would indeed have the robot in question in their database, an android that murdered its creator and is now on the run, dubbed "The Fugitoid" as a result. The resemblance... is a bit of a stretch, both Bug and this robot's head are an oval with wide apart, circular eyes, but that's about where the similarities end, the robot seems to be silver rather than Bug's blue. "My ship is equipped and well stocked for a long term mission, I do not need supplies at this time. Your ship, however... doesn't look like anything in my briefings for what human ships typically look like. Is it of human make, or was it acquired from another species or..?" She lets her sentence trail off, putting a hand on her hips as her spiked tail flicks inquisitively.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord gestures at the Bug proudly. "It's my personal design and combines robotic and ship based features. I'm working on increasing its range for Luna missions. ... I want to visit the Blue Area of the Moon. I notice your ship uses biological forms as well. Perhaps we can compare notes at some point. I mean I don't have an FTL drive (yet), but a few people mentioned t does look like advanced off world tech. The bots are my designs as well. I can assign you one to act as a guide if you like."

Mona Lisa has posed:
The alien seems to wince at that, and says "I... am afraid I am not much of a scientist, my ship is not my design in the least, I am a warrior, my art is the blade. I would need to get authorization to allow you to inspect the ship, I'm sure you understand. At best I could make some repairs to a few components and make sure it's spaceworthy, but that is the depth that my training has in regards to mechanics..." She then looks at one of the bots, and says "A guide would be appreciated, if it will help me get these interviews you mentioned over with faster. I understand they are needed, but rest assured I am here for fugitives, and not for any nefarious means. Our planet is too far to consider Earth a threat, not that... well, you know, this planet is sort of... in a unique position of harboring aliens and being introduced to new technology extremely quickly."

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord nods. "Yeah we kind of welcomed all aliens after those refugees from Krypton turned out so well. Don't worry about the ship specs. I am an engineer by trade, before I became the Blue Beetle. So I tend to focus on technical applications. We have enough warrior's first types here. And yeah, we tend to back engineer tech fast. We're pretty insatiable for information. But anyway... this bot will direct you further. I can see the Sword personnel getting impatient. I'll take my leave but you can just ask the bot to contact me with any further concerns. I'll check back on you. Earth can be confusing. I mean I get confused and I'm a native."

Mona Lisa has posed:
The alien nods, saying "Of course, it will be appreciated. I will likely be in New York if you need me, my first order of business is investigating the use of Mutagen there, though my hunt may take me elsewhere." She raises her fist with knuckles towards the sky with a smile in a sort of "Fist bump" gesture that is easy enough to understand the intention of and mimic, beckoning to bump the bottoms of the wrists/hands together before she takes her leave, following the bots and the government agents. "May we meet again, Ted Kord." she says as she leaves, her slender amphibious figure making its way into the starport proper.
