As Luck Would Have It...
Date of Scene: 18 April 2020
Location: Eduardo's of New York
Synopsis: Felicia meets up with the mysterious John Jones, only to find that he has already unraveled some of her own mysteries.
Cast of Characters: Felicia Hardy, J'onn J'onzz

Felicia Hardy has posed:
As luck would have it, Felicia Hardy had no trouble finding a number for John Jones, despite the commonality of his name. It happens when one has enough cash for toys to do one's bidding. There is something about John that flummoxes Felicia, and it has to do with the difficulty she has had tracking him. Normal people come and go, but they stay on the grid. She could find just about anyone she wants, any time of the day or night. But this...John? Well, this guy seems as flighty as a wren, and just about as hard to track. He disappears off the grid nearly as often as he is on it. And something like that? Well, it is enough to pique a Cat's curiosity.

And so, a text arrives for John Jones:

Fancy dinner on the roof of Eduardo's this evening? 8:00? Let me know. XO~Felicia Hardy

J'onn J'onzz has posed:
If surprise is the first thing that J'onn feels when he receives that unexpected text, amusement follows right after, and then satisfaction. After all, no self respecting alternate identity cannot be tracked somehow, right? And so it is that he replies affirmatively with a simple 'I will be there'. And at 8.00 he is, in fact, standing in the appointed location, still in the shape and guise of John Jones the policeman, but instead of his uniform, a pair of dark blue trousers, jacket of the same color and a white silk shirt make his casually elegant outfit.

Felicia Hardy has posed:
Felicia was almost surprised that John agreed to dinner so easily. Surprised, but pleased. And so she went to the restaurant to wait, having had no trouble getting a reservation for their rooftop table. When John arrives, the host quickly ushers him to the roof top where Felicia is waiting, dressed very simply by her standards in a short black dress with a matching wrap, black heels, and adorned simply with the elegance of pearls.

"Right on time," Felicia purrs as he arrives.

J'onn J'onzz has posed:
"I find many people have a dislike for waiting..." is J'onn's reply, that he accompanies with a soft smile as he pulls back his chair, taking his seat on it. "good to meet you in your more, mh, legal guise, miss..." he adds, settling in the chair and placing both hands on the table in a composed way

Felicia Hardy has posed:
Felicia arches a brow. The first time they met, she had been the Black Cat. Is it possible that he recognized her so completely? If the rumours are true, then he would have known her right off, either way. At least, at this point, he hasn't seemed to have compromised that information. "Yes, well, one cannot be in her business attire ALL the time, now can she?" She smiles and tilts her head. "Would you care for a glass of wine?"

J'onn J'onzz has posed:
"it depends from how comfortable said attire is..." John replies tilting his head slightly, and then nodding at the question "please, I'd like that..." he confirms, quite safe in the knowledge that alcohol will have no effect on him, and that could be an advantage! Or not, according on how things go.

Felicia Hardy has posed:
Felicia nods and sets a wine glass before John, pouring him a glass as she looks back up to him. "It's curious," she says as she sets the bottle down. "You have clearly known who I was, and yet you have not told anyone? I half expected that you'd have told the entire police force by now."

J'onn J'onzz has posed:
J'onn J'onzz nods in gratitude, and takes the glass' stem between thumb and forefinger, lifting it in the elegant gesture that he probably learned in one of his previous lifes as a human. Bringing the glass to his lips, he takes a small sip of wine, tasting it, placing the glass on the table in front of him calmly and slowly before replying with a smile "let us say, that we all have our mysteries, don't we? According to protocol and procedures I should've arrested you on the spot, last time we met... Luckily for either you, or some prison's guards, that didn't happen... hm?"

Felicia Hardy has posed:
Felicia considers his reply a moment before responding. "Luck is on my side more often than not," she replies, as the waiter approaches the table. The darkened rooftop is alight with lanterns and candles, and two shaded heaters offer enough warmth to knock off the chill of the evening.

The waiter offers two cards, one for each. "Here are tonight's menus. The chef never repeats the same menu twice. If I may be of assistance, please ring me." He sets a small device with a button in the center. "I will be with you immediately when you have decided, unless you already know what you desire."

J'onn J'onzz has posed:
J'onn J'onzz offers a little smile again "so it seems, and luck is a nice ally to have at your corner..." he simply states, turning to get one of the cards, reading it slowly as if picking up all the informations from someone's mind would be just something to not do... "well, do you have any advices? I admit I have never been in this particular place"

Felicia Hardy has posed:
"I might suggest the lamb shank with blood orange relish, or perhaps the quail and fresh greens," the waiter replies with a congenial smile. "Either are superb."

Felicia looks up to John and arches her brows. "I believe I might have to try the lamb."

J'onn J'onzz has posed:
"and that'll be good for me as well, the sound of it is quite good..." John replies, taking another sip from the glass of wine. It's not his fault if the surface thoughts of the waiter were all a blur of compliments for the lamb!
His attention, however, is less for the waiter, and more for Felicia herself, on which his eyes are calmly set.

Felicia Hardy has posed:
"Very good." The waiter makes a slight bow to the pair and then retreats with their order. Once he has gone, Felicia continues to watch John as he watches her.

"You know, you're a tough man to track down, most of the time," she confesses. "It's almost like you disappear completely."

J'onn J'onzz has posed:
J'onn J'onzz chuckles lightly at that, twisting his expression into an obviously joking one "why, of course... I fly up into space to avoid being tracked" he states, lying? or hiding the truth in such a probably umbelievable statement? "you have, apparently, your own ways to track the difficult to track, though. Which is actually a nice skill"

Felicia Hardy has posed:
Felicia smiles. "Just lucky, I guess." She winks. "I'm glad you aren't completely impossible. I'd have been so disappointed if I couldn't find you again." She feigns a pout. I'd have had to go out and break the law to find you again."

J'onn J'onzz has posed:
J'onn J'onzz raises an eyebrow slightly "was finding me such an important task?" he inquires, then chuckles lightly "well unfortunately, being on each crime scene is a skill that I yet have to develop, so, that would've been quite the gamble... True that with your, with luck being on your side, that would've been something quite doable..."

Felicia Hardy has posed:
"Well, as luck would have it, I didn't have to resort to such a gamble. But you were intriguing when I met you. And even more intriguing, the more I tried to learn about you." Not that she's a /stalker/...just intensely curious. Really.

J'onn J'onzz has posed:
J'onn J'onzz listens quietly, sipping his wine from time to time "and you, indeed, took another risk by openly revealing to me your true self... I almost feel flattered, miss!" he exclaims

Felicia Hardy has posed:
Felicia narrows her eyes playfully. "I didn't exactly reveal that to you. You knew who I was before I could have. I guess I was right about you. Telepath, hmm? I'd suspected. And I'd also heard the rumours."

J'onn J'onzz has posed:
J'onn J'onzz tilts his head "rumours? I am quite curious to know what kind of rumours... I am, very careful to make it so that those who see me as detective Jones just see me as such, and not as, Jones the telepath..." he says, his voice serene, his expression calm, his mind definitely more seriously considering the discovery that some of it may have leached to the wrong people.

Felicia Hardy has posed:
"Well, that's just the thing. No one can decide whether you're a telepath, or you're just /that/ intuitive. The more digging I found, the more uncertainty I found. I wouldn't say that anyone has outed you for that particular ability. Rather that some suspect...as I did." Felicia takes another sip of her wine, looking rather satisfied with her conclusions.

J'onn J'onzz has posed:
J'onn J'onzz nods in understanding "that makes sense... Very well, it's true after all that each one is entitled to their ideas and opinions!" he states with a small grin, leaning a bit backwards on his chair. "and so, is there anything in particular that you would like to know or talk about? Since we're here..."

Felicia Hardy has posed:
Felicia frets at her lip quietly for a moment, averting her gaze, before she looks back to him. "There seems to be something more to you than just police work. I have often wondered where you went when you disappeared off the grid. It was like you left civilization. Or possibly...became someone else for awhile."

J'onn J'onzz has posed:
J'onn J'onzz listens quietly again to that new idea of hers, looks like she has a knack for finding out things as well!
"well, that's an option... Maybe I have alternate identities like you?" he says with a soft smile, following those words with a sip of wine.

Felicia Hardy has posed:
Felicia nods once, as the waiter returns, pushing a cart covered in silver domed dishes. "Dinner is served," states the waiter simply, lifting the domes, each with a flourish, as he places the plates on the table. "Might I get you anything else, before I go?"

J'onn J'onzz has posed:
"I am fine, thanks..." John replies, turning his gaze towards the food, inhaling its scent, preparing to taste it.
Even after tousands of years, the simple pleasure of tasting food that, for him, is still that of a different planet than his own, is something amazing.

Felicia Hardy has posed:
"We're all entitled to our mysteries," Felicia concedes, once the waiter has retreated downstairs. "You garnered my curiosity, that's all." Felicia looks up at John with a little grin as she prepares to taste her own food, as well. "So...here's to mysterious beginnings, hmm?"

J'onn J'onzz has posed:
J'onn J'onzz extends his left hand to get the glass of wine, raise it in a toast and nods "to mysterious beginnings..." he repeats, placing the glass down and replacing it with the fork, knife wielded in his other hand as he methodically starts to cut the lamb "life would be dull without its mysteries, after all."
