June Connor has posed:
    1:44am.

It's not too uncommon for June to come in late. This is actually kind of early for one of her party nights. However, she doesn't usually take quite as much in the way of tactical provisions when she goes out. She didn't mention any job, but a full set of 5 kunai, about triple her normal smoke bomb compliment, a lock pick, and a kuri-sama went with her, not to mention her tactical vest wasn't here anymore. She was definitely up to something.

The door opens in almost a slam. She's sweaty and limping, and she makes sure it closes and locks behind her. Quite exhausted, she unzips the vest and peels herself out of it, tossing it onto the counter top. Great, sweaty tac vest on the kitchen counter.

Elektra Natchios has posed:
Was Elektra even home. Everything was in darkness and there had been no greeting to the girl when she came in and limped over to the kitchen to get the vest off. Or perhaps it was too quiet.

Yes, definitely the latter as soon enough a voice is heard coming from the living room, "Are you bleeding all over the kitchen counter?" the assassin's voice in that nonchallant manner of hers. And now the sound of a sword being sharpened is heard. Had she been there all along? Maybe. The glint of silver is visible from the edge as she continues her work on the blade, waiting for June to come out of the kitchen and explain what's going on.

June Connor has posed:
June groans with her head tilted back. "Yes," she answers as she rounds the counter. She looks over to where Elektra's blade is visible. She hits the lightswitch to turn on the lights. "You always sharpen swords in the dark?" she asks, as if to change the subject.

Her leggings are slashed to ribbons, still hugging her legs, but streaks of blood, some dried, some not, color her thighs and calves. She kicks her shoes off, and limps in the direction of the first aid kit. Whatever happened, the look on her face says that the result was not worth the injuries.

Elektra Natchios has posed:
"Training your eyes to the dark can be as important as the edge of your blade." The Hand assassin answers in that infuriatingly calm manner of hers. She brings the silver blade up to the light once the lights are on, turning it once over to check the edge and then sheaths it, apparently satisfied with the weapon. It's only then that her attention is finally on June.

A brow arches at the injuries she notes, "No matter what you do don't sit on the couch." no blood on her nice, expensive couch. And as for what happened? She doesn't question it just yet.

Maybe it's all a test! Or perhaps she simply dimmed those to not be deadly wounds.

June Connor has posed:
June gives a waggle of her head and a sneer to the advance reproach about the couch. She pulls the first aid kit from the bathroom, and can be heard rustling around to find the tweezers.

"Fuckin' tempered glass isn't supposed to splinter." She puts her leg up on the sink, squeezing some more blood out of her cut and clenching her teeth as she digs in the cut to find the scrap of glass that is causing her limp.

Elektra Natchios has posed:
Elektra's voice is heard from the entrance of the bathroom. How the heck did she move so quietly from the living room to there? Oh wait ..., being a damn ninja, that's how. Her eyes are assessing the wounds and she shakes her head.

"Stop."

She steps in, pulling her sleeves up to then inspect the cuts. "Continue doing that and you may just push it further in and get an artery." anatomy, she knows it well. Knowing how to kill also means she knows quite a bit about how to treat wounds.

"Turn the wound to me." She tells her protege, taking another pair of tweezers from the first aid kit, along with a bottle of alcohol. She douses it generously over June's leg after a moment.

And still she doesn't ask about how it all happened.

June Connor has posed:
Elektra may have not asked, but June can feel the unspoken question in the air. She stops, pulling the tweezers out. "I'm not gonna hit an artery," she contests in a grumbled voice. She doesn't wince from the alcohol, she has a higher paint tolerance than that. She just rests her elbow on the raised knee, avoiding the lingering question that has yet to be asked.

Elektra Natchios has posed:
The way Elektra starts working on the wound is that of someone who doesn't care much about how the welfare of her patients. Or maybe it's just punishment because the girl doesn't talk on what happened. So there's a 'squeeze' when those tweezers go inside again and she starts digging for that shard.

"You could had prevented this with proper scouting of the place." this about the tempered glass apparently.

"And if you make me ask what happened this will go worst for you." Yes, she has figured that the reluctance that June has about talking on what went on means it was something bad.

June Connor has posed:
The indelicate exploration of the wound causes a slight wince, but June doesn't speak to it. "I did properly scout the place," she say, her defensive tone immediate. It's one of the things she does know how to properly execute. She's not good at a lot of things, so when being criticized for something she sees as a strength? It's more sensitive than the glass shard in her leg.

"Just had a very unlikely variable come up. But because I had scouted, I was able to get out when things went to hell. Evaded forty floors of security that were actively looking for me," she's quick to add. "So." She nods, "I mean, I'm not an idiot." Debatable. "I just gotta pivot now. I'm not the best blackmailer it turns out. Got any tips?" There, she was blackmailing. That's like saying what happened? Without too much in the area of specifics.

Elektra Natchios has posed:
"And your exit strategy involved going through tempered glass?" Another twitch on the tweezers but it seems to have caught on the glass piece within. She keeps it held firmly. And then looks up when June speaks of evading forty floors of security, "So you went on person to blackmail someone that lives in the fortieth floor and has security all over?" she smiles indulgently. "Oh, now I am all ears.."

And she starts to slowly bring the glass piece out. It's a delicate process.

"If you want to blackmail someone you make sure to meet on them on neutral ground, unless you come from a position of strength." she quirks a brow. "It didn't seem to me as if you had that position. Did you at least mask your identity?" she inquires.

June Connor has posed:
There's a twitch as she feels the glass budge, and June huffs. "She wasn't supposed to be there at all," June tries to explain. "How the hell was I supposed to know she'd break her habit and be working at fuckin' midnight?" There is a visible frustration at Elektra's interpretation of her plan as careless. I was gonna be setting up for the next morning. She wouldn't want to draw any attention to me being there, and it'd be hard for her to do anything about me without fucking herself."

Elektra Natchios has posed:
"Then where was she supposed to be?" Elektra wonders, "If you knew her habits so well perhaps you could had intercepted her at a place where there was no security. Assuming that others will act a certain way for a plan to work only leads to failure."

The glass shard finally comes out and the sound of it *clinking* on the sink heard. She cleans the wound after, pressing against it with cotton before getting a bandage ready.

"What were you hoping to get out of the blackmailing?" She finally asks.

June Connor has posed:
"Money, duh," June answers with a wince from the freeing of the glass, as if it should be obvious. She squeezes the wound a few times to make sure fresh blood helps clean it out, and then continues.

"Okay, since I'm sure we're goin' there anyway. It was Natasha Cranston. The Shadow. She was supposed to be out bein' a vigilante, punchin' out criminals and shit. I figure someone with that much to lose if she got outed? It'd be headlines and she'd have a hit on her from every outfit she ever pissed off. And she's got cash to spare. It wouldn't mean shit to her if she had to fork over a like ten grand a month to keep somebody silent. Way easier than fighting it, right?" she says.

Elektra Natchios has posed:
"You went to try and blackmail the shadow for money.." Elektra's tone has gone dangerously low. Not that she stops getting the bandage in place, wrapping it around the girl's leg until it's finally done. And then she is up to her full height.

"Of all the things you could be doing it for you went and chose money." She takes in a breath, "It's not as if you have been lacking in that department, have you?" she gesturing at the penthouse they live in.

"I thought the trip to Japan would had taken the two-bit crook mentality out of you, but I was wrong. You can barely see the next step to take and here I was trying to teach you to see 3-4 steps ahead." she frowns and shakes her head.

June Connor has posed:
June's jaw sets forward. "Yeah, it's YOUR money. Not mine," she answers with a little spite. "I'm just a fuckin' squatter," she points out. "What do you expect me to do all day, just sit around and watch TikTok? And I /was/ thinkin' ahead. I wasn't goin' for a one time donation," she says, seeming very convinced that this justifies her plan as 'forward thinking'. "I was goin' for regular payments! Like, money forever! How much more steps ahead can you get?"

Elektra Natchios has posed:
"So instead of a squatter you'd prefer to be a blackmail crook. It's an improvement for sure." Sarcastic much? Elektra's tone remains low, she folding her arms together, "I expect you to improve yourself. I took you in because I saw potential in what you could be, a potential that I have seen you start to realize and become at times." a beat, "But at other times, you just seem to revert to what you were before."

She steps out of the bathroom, "Do you really think you could blackmail someone like the Shadow? You realize how we found out about her, right? We went to an asylum and talked to one of their victims. What makes you think they couldn't had just done the same to you?" she looks over her shoulder, "I will handle this."

June Connor has posed:
June's face turns color to match her hair almost as Elektra walks out of the bathroom, and she follows. "Oh, what I was before, huh?" she asks. "And what was I before?" she asks, slapping her chest with both in challenge as if she were some sort of gorilla. "Let's here it from the high and mighty Elektra Natchios. What was I?" she asks.

Elektra Natchios has posed:
"Am I the one that you really want answering that question?" Elektra retorts, turning to look at June again, a brow arching, "Look in the mirror, ask yourself it. Who you were, and what you are now. And how different you are from that girl of before.."

"And if you want to get angry at someone be angry at yourself and what you did tonight." Relentless tone. But also not taking the bait on getting into a back and forth with June. At least not about or what June was before.

June Connor has posed:
"But I'm not different, am I?" June says, a clear invasion of personal space as she steps up to Elektra close enough so that her breath can be felt. It's no question who would win in a real fight, but it doesn't stop June from posturing. "A fuck up, dumb street bitch, white trash, pick your nickname. You know it's what youse thinkin," she accuses. It certainly reflects what June thinks of herself. "I'm just another problem you gotta clean up after." She arches her brow. Behind her eyes it's hard to tell if she wants confirmation or rejection of the assessment. But she wants something.

Elektra Natchios has posed:
"Stop posturing or it will be more than those glass shards and your ego that will be hurting." Elektra's brow remaining arched and she certainly not budging from staying her ground. "And no, I see a self-destructive girl that has no idea she can be better. Who's only had pain and death in her life so far and doesn't think she may deserve something more than it. Who does dumb, suicidal things because deep down she wants that pain to stop and maybe if she messes with the wrong person they will make it stop permanently." her tone relentless.

"Very much like I was at your age." She then finally admits.

"You are not a problem, even if you work hard to be one." Elektra says, "I usually handle my problems in a different manner." murder most likely!

June Connor has posed:
June doesn't change her expression, keeping the angry wrinkle in her nose, but it looks like she really doesn't know what else to stay. "My life wasn't yours," she answers finally, less vitriol in her tone. Not to be confused with relaxed. "Maybe we got things that are similar. I dunno, you play closed box badass all the time so who the fuck knows," her eyes dart down and up Elektra's form as if to point at her. "You think you're gonna make me into something more? Like what? A badass close-lipped killer that never shows herself to anybody? Maybe some high profile thief that can steal shit she doesn't need to impress people she doesn't like?" She shakes her head. "Just...what IS your plan here? Because you sure as fuck hide it pretty well from me."

Elektra Natchios has posed:
"I am not the one that will make you into something more. You will do it yourself. If that's your will. I merely provide you a chance for it but no one's is forcing you to do anything." Elektra gestures with one hand.

"And this is not about me, don't try to subvert things." Elektra warns the girl, "You know you fucked up, consider it a learning step instead of trying to fish for more out of me." a beat, "And certainly don't play like you're entitled to know more about me as if it's your right."

"You want to know more you will earn it, not demand it."

June Connor has posed:
"Yeah yeah, redirect, whatever," June answers, her voice dismissing her own defeat in the argument. She breaks her close distance and backs up from Elektra. "I'm goin' to bed. This day has been such shit." She turns around, and starts to walk down the hall to her room.
