The Emergence
Date of Scene: 14 August 2022
Location: Fordham Road
Synopsis: A number of people investigate a subway problem and discover giant buglike creatures are to blame.
Cast of Characters: Clark Kent, Natasha Romanoff, Xiomara Rojas, Ted Kord, Asariel, Joan Wright

Clark Kent has posed:
With a train stuck somewhere in the tunnels, commuter trains are forced to take detours while the issue is dealt with. A Transit Authority team was sent in to find the issue, but stopped responding once they radioed in that they saw the train.

Now the road is closed around the Fordham Road subway station. Barricades are set up a block away from the station in all four directions, manned by the NYPD. Ambulances, fire trucks and police cars are parked a bit haphazardly inside the closed area, most of them near the station.

Anyone observing the area would probably call the activity going on controlled chaos, but there are several pavilions set up as command posts and these create pockets of order. It appears both the NYPD and NYFD have set up command stations to try and organize the activities of their departments.

Members of both departments are going up and down the stairs to the platform, while the EMTs are waiting by their ambulances, apparently because so far there are no casualties to aid or transport. Several helicopters, both emergency and news are circling above the area.

A pavilion has been set off to one side to accommodate the press while keeping them out of the way. Cameras track the emergency workers while newspaper reporters are kept updated by the public information officers of both departments. Representatives of every nearby media outlet are in attendance, including Clark Kent, who is currently in quiet conversation with one of the officers.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
And among those members of the 'press' is one Natasha Romanoff. She's wearing the outfit of a freelancer working for the Daily Planet, at least that's what the press tag she has on says. Natasha is holding ou tan old micro-cassette recorder and is occasionally scribbling down notes based on what's being said over while she would tyr and step up on a foot to get a better view of what was going on. not everything spy-game had to be in such plain sight.
The Fifth Estate was quite good when it came to figuring out what was going on. So Natasha was more than happy to be amidst thier ranks in the event that something did happen voer while the seemingly endless transits of emergency vehicles went back and forth. It was better than waiting on standby and having to be over speaking to said press and listening flatly..

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
After a day of working construction, Crush was on her way back to Happy Harbor when apparently the entire system for commuting around New York came to a stand still, was rerouted, or other wise some excuse for 'things slowed down a lot'.

Instead of hurrying home in some other way, she'd decided to check things out, find out exactly what it took to send the subway system, that had operated for so many years without big hang ups, into chaos.

It wasn't difficult to figure out that something major was happening, so she followed the signs of the trouble and ended up outside the station. She wasn't a known hero, nor any one that the police and fire department would recognize, but that didn't stop her from looking around for someone who looked like they were in charge and trying to walk right up to them. The Czarnian was not one for subtle, her pale skin and black facial markings already made her stand out, so she often used that to her advantage.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ariving a little late to the party, the Bug flies in and hovers high enough to avoid blowing its thrusters on anyone, humming softly.

"Hello NYPD, this is Blue Beetle. I'd like to assist. I have an AI bot designed for search and rescue work and independent operation as well as the Bug's sensor suite. Please advise." He notices the bot in question, informally designated Bailey looking a round then pointing to herself?

"Yes you. Search and rescue. Anyone, not just Joan or me. Youll be fine." Bailey fidgets... call it a systems check. Then flies to the bot hatch.

Asariel has posed:
Asariel's not much for public transit, but, today was different. The pale woman had drug Giovanni out of the apartment to get some fresh air as it was needed. But then they'd ran into this problem. Her moon silver gaze is pensive while she watches things, waiting to see what the issue might be. "We could always go home if you like?" the tall Italian man next to her offers a bit hopefully. She shakes her head though and that makes him sigh.

Joan Wright has posed:
Joan had been with Ted when the news of the train problems came to light. It seemed a bit more pertinent for them to head directly over than for her to be dropped off. Plus if there was something REALLY broken. It might be good to have the walking roll of ducttape on hand.

Still restrained in her respective seat, Joan turns her head to look over to Bailey who seems a bit concerned. If Bots get that way. She manages a reassuring smile to the bot before looking over to Ted. "Well, looks like you get to do a different sort of testing."

Clark Kent has posed:
There isn't a lot of in formation yet, so Natasha is mainly hearing a lot of 'We do not yet know what is causing the issue.' There is still no word on the Transit Authority's missing team either, they have been off the air for about a half hour now.

A SWAT van passes the barricades and pulls up near the entrance to the subway. A team of officers climb out of the back equipped with a range of equipment including body armor, riot shields and MP5 submachine guns. Once they are out and in formation, they head for the stairs, descending into the subway station and out of sight.

As Crush tries to pass the barricades, one of the officers tries to stop her saying, "This area is currently for authorized personnel only." Given Crush's appearance, this may be the bravest act he's ever performed.

There's a delay until Ted gets a reply, probably to check on his credentials before answering him. "Affirmative Blue Beetle, if this turns out to be something out of the ordinary we could use your help. SWAT is checking on things as we speak."

At street level, Asariel can only see the emergency workers going on as they have been for a while now, though she may have spotted the SWAT team heading in.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
now there's some interest from Natasha. Well.. They're sending in an assault team despite not having any information? Well.. Now it does appear that there's something that has her interest. She geos to speak glibly in passing over to the person next to her, making a snark on 'they run out of ways to say no comment' before moving to head off. Freelancing was a gig that didn't pay well, and if this one wasn't paying out..
Then she's going to walk along to try and swoop about to go into 'vanish' mode. Intent on going stealthily over into the shadows and to try and get into the subway. For now, still keeping on the appearance and persona of a reporter that's going for the story to sneak back into the tunnels and go on further.

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
The stare. Crush is an expert at staring people down, the level of intimidation required to cause a full grown man to urinate himself. No, she wasn't trying that level on the officer, at least not yet. He was doing his job, and for a simple human, he had some serious cajones to stop her.

"If you need a train moved, or picked up, or something like that, then I instantly become authorized personal," she explains, one again attempting to be sound calm, even if she really wants to punch the cop. He didn't do anything really, it's just her nature. Punch first, questions later.

"I know I ain't some big name hero or nothin, but please let me help. No humans need to get hurt." Witnesses who might be recording the happenings might later look back and realize that Crush just said please... she never says please... clearly someone has been rubbing off on her.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord runs his scanners over the area. He leaves the receiver on to get police commentary. Sue him. He tries to identify the train and personnel moving towards it. Bailey runs a final systems check and waits. No bots need be harmed in this situation either.

Asariel has posed:
One minute there's a world renown artist next to her bodyguard and the next she is gone. Giovanni looks back to Asariel, a question on his lips when he realizes that she's simply gone. "Oh gods." he whispers as he looks with worried eyes towards where the SWAT team and other things are gathering.

The littlest Nephilim is gone from sight, but she's being careful as she pulls her magic around her to head towards the subway stairs and to descend them. She'd be fine.

Probably?

Joan Wright has posed:
Joan watches the displays on the Beetle's screen. The presence of SWAT, while not unexpected with the amount of persons gathered is concerning as they're shifting into positions.

"Do you think they know more about the situation than they're letting on? Seems odd to be sending in SWAT before getting some form of surveillance in place."

Clark Kent has posed:

Since she's undercover and not wearing the Black Widow outfit or even her SHIELD ID tag, sneaking is what is needed to get even near the subway. But since sneaking is one of her best skills, she's shortly lurking behind a car near the subway entrance. It might be hard to actually get in there without being noticed, as it is currently the focus of a lot of attention.

The officer Crush is talking to clicks on his radio mic and asks, "Got a super here that wants to help. Sounds like a strength type, you want her in?" After listening to the answer, he says "Ok, you can head over to the command post, but please don't head into the subway yet."

The Bug's scanners can penetrate the ground, but there are a lot of distractions under New York. The city is almost as deep as it is tall once you deal with over a hundred years worth of sewers, plumbing, cable conduits and nobody knows that else. Fortunately the subway tunnel is big enough to be fairly obvious. It looks like the train is about five hundred yards from the station and not moving. It's hard to tell through everything in the way but it does show thermal signs which could be the passengers in and around the train.

Once Asariel heads down the stairs, she can see that a number of police officers are set up on the platform with night vision and thermal goggles and scopes as well as a radio manned by two officers. The SWAT team is down on the tracks heading into the tunnel in the direction of the missing train.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Going to bypass things and get in isn't so much a challenge but it does get on her toes. Why is Natasha doing this the old fashioned way? Perhaps she has her own game in the greater scheme of things. Perhaps it's a test for hereslf. Whatever ehr reasons are, she's inscrutable in them to any outside observer. She goes to slowly dart along once she had bypassed any outside observers. Now.. Now is the time to go on deeper and see what's caused these events. The others present can handle search and rescue. Her intent is to go and investigate what had caused this calamity in the first place.

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
Crush is honest to goodness surprised. It worked. Just being blunt and honest had worked. Normally she would have just ignored the cop, or shoved him aside and went in anyway, but that would have caused more trouble in an already apparently bad situation. This time she'd tried the less violent approach, and it had worked.

She didn't show how surprised she actually was, instead she gave the officer a smile and nod of thanks before heading in the direction he indicated, toward the command post.

Once there, /now/ she looked for who seemed to be in charge and offered up a bold, "I'm Crush, and I'm here to help. No more humans need to get hurt today. Strength like the cop...iffcer said, damage resistance, you name it, I got it."

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord listens to the chattering and says, "Hiding something? Absolutely. SWAT isn't used for a stalled train, that's transit cops and Emergency Service Units. SWAT means there's something they mean to solve with bullets. Also, thermal view shows people around the train. Why are they out there, walking around? C'mon Bails, we're flying down, before we got bullets flying around." He gives Joan a kiss as she takes over the Bug and bails out, flying towards the tunnel on his Aero Disks. Bailey trailing behind.

Asariel has posed:
Asariel's careful to not bump into anyone or to start a conversation with people. She does follow the gazes of the cops and then hops down onto the tracks. What were these guys going into? Probably something very bad. She is observing as the SWAT approaches. Ready to act if anything explodes...or flesh eating zombies happen to start flooding out of the train. Yep, she'd seen that movie recently!

Joan Wright has posed:
Joan hmms. "That is odd." She agrees. Taking note of Ted's motions and determining the next step. She shifts, accepting the semi-private display of affection before moving to take over the controls.

The Damage Control employee tilts her head back to look to the departing pair. "Bailey, don't let your dad get hurt out there. Ted. That goes for you too."

Upon their departure, Joan hits a button causing for the door to close.

Clark Kent has posed:
Natasha's skills have been honed by decades of espionage, so she knows just when to make her move. As attention is on the Blue Beetle as he heads for the subway, the Black Widow darts down the stairs. At the bottom, she sees the same thing Asariel can see, except that at this point the SWAT team is out of sight down the tunnel.

The NYPD captain currently running the operation looks over as Crush approaches, then nods and says "Well, we've got people in there already, but I'm pretty certain it wouldn't hurt to have someone with abilities like yours along for the ride." He looks over to another officer and tells him "Get hear an earpiece so she can hear us." Within a minute Crush has said earpiece and is free to enter the subway.

Since the Bug and the Blue Beetle are fairly recognizable, a bunch of people watch him fly in, but no attempt is made to stop him. On reaching the bottom of the stairs, he sees the same police setup that the others had seen, as well as Crush walking over to the police on the platform.

Up in the Bug, Joan can now see the thermal signature of the SWAT team moving down the tunnel. The other signatures around the train are not moving, so it's more difficult to say exactly what is going on there.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
And Natasha goes along to sweep her way underneath and goes to take in the distant presence of the man and his machine. it's easy to peg and get an idea of wehre they are. Which means that hopefully any attention will be on them and let her bypass anything that might be belligerent. Her priority ehre is the search aspect. The others can take care of the rescue. Natasha moves along in the shadows, going ahead with care.

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
Crush accepts the official ear piece of the NYPD and for one, very quick moment, feels important. Up until this moment all of her activities have been on the less legal side of things, no real hero stuff. She'd been training with the Titans, sort of, and learning how to pull her punches and be less... violent, but no real action. Today, in this moment, that changed.

Without further pause, she heads to the entrance of the subway at a jog. There was nothing heroic looking about her, wearing a her construction jeans and button front shirt with the signature thick black chain wrapped around her waist like a belt, but today she was being a hero... maybe, it depended on what she found down in the depth of the subway tunnels.

Taking the steps two at a time, she listens to reports on the earpiece, and waits to find out what lies in wait below.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord gives Crush a look and a friendly smile as he buzzes by. Intros later. He flies up to the officers manning the radio post.

"OK, what do we have here? I can hit that tunnel with a half million lumens of light, show up everything real good. Just let your guys turn off their night vision goggles. Oh this is Bailey. She can help." Bailey gives a thumbs up. Ted makes sure he can still contact the Bug. "I may need you for a hotspot, if I go much further, Number 10 -Bailey."

Asariel has posed:
Asariel gives a curious squint as her eyes adjust to the darkness, even if she was pale enough to stand out like a glow stick sometimes. The Nephilim moves with careful steps as she moves down the track, shadowing the SWAT and others. She tries to see what exactly is happening so that she can either help with things. It was time to figure out what exactly had caused this little hiccup in schedules.

Joan Wright has posed:
Joan frowns at the movement "Ted? Are you getting the feed? Looks like the team's making its way into the tunnel. I'm not really seeing much movement around the train though." Of course he is. The guy works tech. But, sometimes you just have to ask. Due to the size of the bug it stays where it is, waiting.

Clark Kent has posed:
It's easy for Natasha to cross the platform behind the officers who are watching the tunnel and drop off the platform and onto the tracks. Once there, it's child's play for her to sneak past the police. The harder move is to not get caught on their thermal gear before she is out of sight around the curve in the tunnel. But she's done it before, and often against people much better trained than the NYPD, so she finds herself on her own in the darkness of the subway tunnel, somewhat behind the advancing SWAT team.

Since she's been given the green light at an official level, when Crush reaches the platform she is waved forward by one of the police manning the radio. Crush, Ted and Joan can all hear what is being said on the NYPD's operating frequency.

"We've got a stopped train, no known reason. We also have a missing Transit Authority team who went in to check on it. They radioed in that they could see the train ahead, then went off the air and have been out of contact since. SWAT's heading in since we'd rather have them there and not needed than needed and not there."

When the Beetle suggests light, the officer on the radio says, "Maybe not that bright, but it would be a lot easier if things were lit up. Just not enough to blind anyone in the tunnel, if you would. I'll let SWAT know you're headed to them."

Asariel can make out the lights carried by the SWAT team as she follows them into the tunnel. It's not hard to keep up with them as they are advancing as a set pace so as not to be taken by surprise. So far, neither she nor the SWAT team have seen anything out of the ordinary.

    Then things change abruptly.

Out of nowhere, large dark forms lunge at the SWAT team. Yells and gunfire fill the tunnel as a wild melee breaks out, with the attackers having the upper hand. One of the SWAT officers clicks his mic and reports "Under attack by unknown assailants" *gunfire* "Not human!" and then his radio goes silent. After a second, all hell breaks loose over the official channels as more police are directed into the subway and backup is called for.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
The things about police protocols is that they are protocols. There area lways shortcuts. In training, in deployment, in maintenance.. Nothing is ever the exact same situation or scenario in training. And for men and women in horrifically bulky equipment deep underground wearing multiple levels of kevlar and ceramic plates, with several dozen pounds of additional equipment being hauleda long with them..
It means that these protocols are not strictly adhered to. As Natasha goes to try and avoid the SWAT team, she podners. Should she try and get ahead of them or track them? She moves to pause for but a half second.. Then maintains her distance. Anything in the area -will- be reacting to the SWAT team, so she can bypass whatever it is that way.

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
Crush listens to the officer, and actually /listens/, not her usual appearing to be listening but really thinking about something else. As he is talking she looks down the tunnel in the direction of interest.

"I'll catch up quick," she replies, then once again goes from walking into a jog to try and catch up to the SWAT team. Dark or with light, neither changed how her Czarnian eyes could see, everything was perfectly clear down the tunnel for her. There were no extra or new scents that didn't seem like they shouldn't already belong, and of course the sounds in the tunnel were what you would expect for someone who can hear a pin drop in a hurricane.

When the screams come over the comm, the jog turns into an all out run, around the curve and straight toward the engaged SWAT team. Not human alright, whatever these things were they did not get the pulled strength and one of them got to meet her fist the second she was in range.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord says several choice words. He flies up near the ceiling and draws the light spitting pistol in question as he switches his goggles to night vision. Shedding light seems to be the way to go, not a half million lumens no, but if the SWAT Team is looking away a low light series of pulses could disorient the attackers enough for the police to fall back. He'd also get a chance to get a good look what was happening.

Asariel has posed:
Asariel's just awaiting something. A sound or action to herald a reason to take action and suddenly there is CHAOS.

Just what she needed. And her illusion drops to show the rather short white haired woman, wings unfurled and trying to move to place herself between the incoming and fairly large targets. There's a lift of her hand before she snaps and one of the shadows is hit with a very bright flash of fire from the heavens. "Pick on someone else." she states in a calm tone as her wings fold behind her. Hey, if they needed a distraction she had provided it!

Joan Wright has posed:
Joan sits up straight as she hears the sudden sound of gunshots over the communication. Joan bites her lip to avoid saying something unnecessary to Ted while he's dealing with the sudden bout of crazy going on down there.

Eyes glance between the heat map, beetle vision, and minding where the beetle currently is.

Clark Kent has posed:
Natasha's instincts are correct as the SWAT team in front of her get ambushed. What she can see in the beams of wildly gyrating flashlights are partial glimpses of crablike armor, sharply tipped appendages and the occasional unblinking yellow eye. If she isn't currently armed, she can probably pick up an MP5, as several of the SWAT team members have already fallen to the attackers.

Crush is the first person to get a good look at the things, as Czarnian senses work as easily in the dark as the light. They look like a cross between insect and crab, armored with flexible joints so they can move. The head ends in several sharp spikes surrounding a large central eye with a smaller eye on either side of the head. It seems they have sharp points at every place they possibly could. When Crush zips in and unloads on one, it's armor cracks and there's a loud hissing sound as it flies through the air and is buried most of the way into the wall of the tunnel. It does not move again.

When the Beetle illuminates the scene, everyone can see the creatures that the SWAT team is fighting. Several of them are even down, the result of either luck or skill on the part of the SWAT officers. One of them is yelling "Go for the joints! The joints!" before a sharp limb arrows in and through the transmitter on his vest.

Asariel's angelfire lights up the tunnel even more as it washes across one of the attackers that was far enough from the melee to be safely targeted, leaving it smoking and blind. It staggers around the tunnel, bumping into things until it falls over.

In the Bug, Joan will notice that even as the melee is in full swing, the only heat signatures are the ones that have been there all along. Well, until the entire area lights up for a moment, the result of Asariel's attack.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanoff only has on her her small, compact, and powerful Widow's Bites. What she sees of those things catches her interest. And surprise. Mollusks. Effective at close quarters. Armored. She goes to try and wait for the firefight to continue over as it goes mostly one sided with some effort by the heroes.
She hasn't entered herself yet over as she sees one of them that's being disabled and broken apart. As the thing goes to struggle from the angelfire, and the yell of to target the joints..
The officer goes down right as he's yelling a warning of where to target them. Natasha responds a moment later with a small, thrown knife that hopefully is aimed at the clutch where the primary sensor node and optic receiver would be on the thing. -IF- her aim is good then hopefully it would manage to find a bit through the chitinous armor and to something more sensitive. Then she's going back into the darkness. These things will just be drones and activated automotons.
Alien or not, drones are still drones.

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
Now the hard part, really the hardest part for Crush in a situation like this. The SWAT officers may get lucky, take down one here and there, but the reality was they were sitting ducks waiting to be mauled and possibly eaten by these things. Her instinct is screaming to merrily punch away, find target, hit target, repeat until nothing is moving. The training she has been a part of recently went another route, protecting the innocent or those unable to defend themselves.

Two seconds of analysis, three to decide, and the half-Czarnian moves into action. At this point, it wasn't about just punching to kill, it was about getting them away from the SWAT officers to try and make a route for their escape.

"SWAT dudes, if I make you an opening, retreat while you can," she says into the comm. "Obelus, help me make a safe route out."

No sooner than Crush spoke, then the black chain around her waist comes to life and starts attacking the creatures on it's own. For the Czarnian and the chain it's not about killing, though that would be a nice side effect, right now it is about getting the humans out and to safety.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord begins firing the BB Gun in its second mode. Concussion blasts hit the creatures, driving them back hopefully. Bailey flies at the creature that stabbed the officer, attempting to knock it away from the injured man. Protect the human! So far these things register as nonsentient until proven otherwise. Bailey triggers her welder in one arm. Not a big fire but a fire.

"We still have passengers in the train. We have to drive these things back!"

Asariel has posed:
Angelfire can only be used so much, but hey, Asariel is fine with that. She decides that she's definitely never eating shell fish again or watching The Dark Crystal given these things. She staggers out of the way, but one of her wings gets a bit crunched by one of the angry appetizers. She rolls, thank god for Judo lessons all these years. She's popping up away from them as she tries to distract the large thing until she can hit one of them again.

Joan Wright has posed:
"Ted, I'm not seeing any movements with the heat signatures." When the entire screen lights up, she glances back. "Did someone light a fire?"

As the bugs jump onto screen, Joan leans back in her seat. "OHMYGODWHATONEARTHARETHOSEOHGODANDWHYARETHEYINYOURCOLORSCHEME?!" A loud cry emits from her mouth. Wide eyed, the architect takes a few deep breaths before she realizes something. A hand reaches up to the com. "Oh. Sorry." The microphone is shut off.

Clark Kent has posed:
The Black Widow's aim is as good as ever, and her knife flies though their air and buries itself deeply into the main eye of one of the creatures. With a hiss, it drops to the ground and remains unmoving. None of them seem to be headed her way, so she's got options of what she'd like to do next.

The SWAT commander replies, "We've still got an unknown number of people on the train, we need to clear the tunnel and get them out. It's not just about getting us out." The officers do seem to be doing a bit better now that the shock of the ambush has passed and there's enough light to see by. MP5's send bullets chewing across the armored surface of the creatures, sometimes hitting one of the unarmored joints. Whenever they find one of these, there's another hiss and the creature seems to lose the use of the stricken limb.

As Crush and Obelus move onto the offensive, they are able to take out a number of the creatures and save the SWAT officers who start following her and firing off bursts of bullets at any targets they can get a good angle on.

The BB Gun is somewhat effective, not quite enough to break through the armor, but it does push them back and distract them. Bailey, on the other hand, becomes target number one, with the creatures just about climbing over each other trying to reach the bot. It seems something about it draws them, as even ones fighting the police turn and head for the little robot.

Asariel is not followed as she moves back from the melee, free to take whatever action she decides on.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
And now as the words come in of 'on the train' Natasha Romanoff considers. So is that the target for the creatures or was it merely something that was in the way or instigated? Now she has to figure out if these things are acting on premeditated orders by a higher consciousness or merely some sort of instinctive urging by whatever hive or egg-sack they came out of. She's moving to sweep on to the side, avoiding the remnants of the melee and now if she can moving on ahead of hte SWAT team. The firefights seem to be mostly over or at least in a circumstance where they're handled.
Natasha is intent on performing recon while still staying disengaged if she can. Attempting to swoop on ahead to see if she can tell if the train is a rally point for the creatures.. Or whether it's merely just the most obvious cluster by circumstance.

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
Staying in the lead with Obelus to punch alien bug creature things out of the way, Crush isn't thrilled that her idea of protecting the SWAT team goes ignored, but she understands it. These men and woman took an oath to protect and defend, even if it was against alien bug creature things. So if they were staying, she would ensure that no more of them got hurt, or do her very best to ensure that.

"I'm not a big plan it out type," she admits bluntly into the comm. "I punch it, squish it, tear it open, or move it Dude, but even I get the impression there isn't likely going to be anyone alive on that train. So you tell me what you want me to..."

The pause is a direct result of having to dodge sharp pointy legs and punch a bug, then she continues, "... me to do."

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord sees blood pulse out of the hole torn in the officer's vest and his chest. He grabs the man as his knees go out, scooping him up with a grunt.

"I got you buddy, stay with me. I'll get you help! I gotta get this man immediate help! I'll be back! Bailey, keep helping. Listen to Joan!" The azure arthropod flies back down the tunnel and clears the station with his patient.

Asariel has posed:
Asariel's feeling less drained, so she focuses on one of the large figures again and starts to fire off another shower of Angelfire. Because she was not needing to hit anyone innocent with that flame. Grandpa would be very upset with her! She does her best to draw the big crabby monstrosity from the rest of the bystanders to give it a good boiling.

Joan Wright has posed:
Listen to Joan?

Joan ends up flipping over to observe things from Bailey vantage point. Seeing the abnormal amount of interest in the littlest bot. Joan frowns. "Okay. Bailey, try drawing those things AWAY from the train."

Seeing no change in behavior being demonstrated on the screen, the architect frowns. "Oh wait."

The microphone is flipped back on.

"Okay. Bailey, try drawing those things AWAY from the train."

As the creatures start to come towards Bailey, her pink nail-polished manipulators lift up in the air. When one of the creatures comes too close she swats it in the eye. The sassy wave of the appendage is likely lost on the creature before the bot start to zip away from the battle, adjusting the pace so the creatures may follow.

Clark Kent has posed:
As Natasha moves up the tunnel, she can see the train stopped ahead of her. There's a pile of dirt and debris on the track, probably from the rough opening in the wall of the tunnel. Right now, none of the creatures are evident on or around the train. It does seem to be getting a little more difficult to breathe however. Perhaps the passengers were overcome by something in the air, either natural or caused by the attackers.

Crush and Obelus are doing a fairly good job of clearing out the enemy, especially as more of them keep going after Bailey. If they weren't quite so horrific and dangerous it might be amusing to watch them follow the bot around like a dog chasing a ball.

The Beetle flies out with the injured officer, rushing him to one of the nearby hospitals instead of handing him to an ambulance crew who would then need to fight traffic to get him there.

Angelfire washes over another of the creatures, causing it to blindly move about until it hits a wall and falls over. The bolt of fire seems to be much larger and brighter than usual in the darkness of the tunnel.

Bailey follows Joan's instructions, circling to gather the creatures and then heading further down the tunnel past the train, as leading them to the platform would endanger the officers stationed there. Most of the creatures follow the bot, leaving the path clear to get to the train and any survivors.

SWAT officers start pulling unconscious passengers out of the train as they call for backup and EMT's. Soon the subway tunnel and the hole in the wall are being covered by officers with rifles and shotguns, and the passengers are being carried out as quickly as possible. They seem to be mostly unconscious but not wounded too badly. Most of them do seem to have one puncture or slash, usually in the area of a pocket. Unusually, all of the windows of the train seem to be missing, not broken, just gone.

With the situation under control for now, the fight for the subway has come to a close. But nobody yet has any idea what these things are of where they came from.
