Piano Pranks
Date of Scene: 22 August 2022
Location: The Velvet Room - Sitting Room
Synopsis: Cael, Charlie, and Sprite get to know each other a little in the Velvet Room - and Cael explains how Nameless works.
Cast of Characters: Cael Becker, Sprite, Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe

Cael Becker has posed:
Sometimes you just need a break from your life. Thankfully for Cael - that's easy. Just insert a key in any lock, and you're never more than a few steps away from a free bottle of whiskey.
She doesn't seem to be going in for the heavy whiskey today, though, as she sips instead at a coffee dosed with whiskey, barefeet tucked up underneath her on the couch, with her big goof of a white dog sprawled on the couch right beside her, licking at the velvet material. A book rests on Cael's lap - a book about werewolves, which she thumbs through slowly, a look of concentration on her features as she reads.

Sprite has posed:
Sprite is making her arrival to the Velvet Room. The redhaired young teen moves into the room, smiling as she steps into the extradimensional space. "So nice." she says, to no one in particular. She looks over, seeing who's here, and knowing Cael from the cleanup activities the other day. So she starts off towards Cael's couch; someone to harass. "Hey. How's it going today?"

Cael Becker has posed:
"Oh, you know. Could be better, could be worse. But I haven't been devoured by an expression of ultimate evil and chaos from beyond reality - so I'll take it as a win." She smirks faintly, then takes a sip of her coffee. Bear, meanwhile, looks up at the new arrival with his tongue lolling out and his tail thumping cheerfully on the couch. Lying on the floor next to the couch is his 'service dog' vest.
"How about you?" Cael asks in return.

Sprite has posed:
"Not being devoured by Old Ones, always a plus. So messy in there." She quips, and moves over, looking to Bear. "May I pet him?" she asks. "Enjoying visiting fae spaces again. It's been about a century."

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
Charlie enters from the library, books tucked under each arm and one in her hands that she is peering at, brow furrowed. "Ok.... no connection to chaos per say but...." she mutters a little bit irritated.

The voices though cause her to pause and look up and then from Sprite to Cael to Sprite... to Bear. "Pupper!" is exclaimed with enthusiasm.

She starts to head that way hands still full.

"Fae spaces?"

Cael Becker has posed:
"Sure - anytime he's not in his vest, he loves the attention," Cael invites easily. "Saves me the trouble," she adds. Like pampering Bear is any trouble at all.
"Jon took me recently to the Astral Plane. We rode a river up into the sky where it became the Milky Way - and then we fished for starfish, to bring down and cook on the shores. ...made for an enjoyable evening.
Cael looks to Charlie - a face she's seen a few times, but not often. "Mmm? Yeah. This place - the attendants? They're apparently fae, so..."

Sprite has posed:
Sprite smiles, and she ruffles Bear's ears, keeping a grin on her face. "Who's a good doggy?" she asks. "I LOVE dogs. Teaching humans to domesticate them was one of the greatest ideas back in the day. She moves to hop up on the other end of the couch; literally the end, putting her butt on the armrest.

She looks over at Charlie; someone she doesn't know. "Fae spaces. Like this." She circles the area with her hand, indicating it. "Sprite. Nice to meet you."

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
"That sounds like an amazing fishing trip... and oh, didn't know they were fae... the only fae I met were in that garden incident.. park incident.. it was messy and explosive and someone almost died." she eyes the room thoughtfully. "Well they seem nice here." she shifts her books and eventually just sets them down on a side table.

The subjects on the spine seem to be a lot about fire magic. Though one is about theories of chaos magic and the lords of chaos.

She extends her hand though to Sprite. "Nice to meetcha, I'm Charlie... though codename is Misfit." she figures anyone in here with Cael and others is trustworthy. Which may not be true but hey.

She is wearing stompy boots, jeans, a dark red wonderwoman hoodie, and a pair of orange lens'd goggles pushed up into her red hair.

"Puppers are the best, too good for people really..."

Cael Becker has posed:
"The garden incident - at the Botanical Garden?" Cael asks. "...there were multiple fatalities that day. A man got turned inside out. Someone else ended up imbedded in a tree, and a few got their throats slit by fucking spr- ....pixies." Mmmhmm. Good change there, Cael. She lets out a huff of air - and as Bear finishes licking at Sprite's hands - he turns instead to push his snout into Cael's hands. "Yeah... yeah. You're a good dog," she promises Bear, scratching him behind the ears.
"So - you taught people to tame dogs?" she asks in a tone that just borders on the incredulous. "Well. I'm glad we have them, Bear's come in handy."

Sprite has posed:
Sprite grins impishly and shakes Charlie's hand. "Name and codename are both Sprite. I mean, I could give a dozen other names, but it's my real one. And the fae are often messy and explosive. And dangerous." She looks to Charlie's books, curiously. "Lords of Chaos. Never a good idea."

"Well, not me specifically. Phastos came up with the idea. I was the storyteller, not the teacher." Sprite answers Cael. "We taught people lots of things, though. It was fun, for the most part. It has its downsides, being through so much." SHe makes a little face, wrinkling her nose.

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
Charlie nods to Cael then wrinkles her nose "Shoot, I had no idea there were that many causalities and that is the one I was talking about. I helped the best I could tho..."

"Oh.. uh..." she looks self concious at the book. "I'm... chaos..." she admits unsure at Sprite's reaction there. "I'm trying to figure out why when I try fire magic it is ... amplified and way more than I or my teachers would have thought. It doesn't seem to be connected to my chaos though."

    "You... are old huh?" blink.

Cael Becker has posed:
"I'm sure we both did," Cael confirms. She rubs at Bear's head as she adds, "That was the first time I really encountered magic. It was- it didn't endear me to magic." And yet, here she is - in the middle of the Velvet Room, on the Astral Plane. She continues rubbing at Bear's head - shoving him slightly as he tries to lick her hands. "Lay off it," she mutters at him.
"Yeah. Mercy said I should get you to tell as story," Cael remarks. There's something dubious in her tone, though. Cael is a skeptical person - by her very nature.
"So, in all those thousands of years running around Earth. ...did you ever learn to play the piano?" she asks curiously.

Sprite has posed:
Sprite nods. "Chaos magic is fine. Can be fun. The Lords of Chaos, that's another story. I'd offer a hand, but my powers are more innate and cosmic, and less magic. And yes, I am very, very old."

She smiles at the reference to Mercy's comment. "She's just happy I took her to Babylon." Sprite says. "And sure! Music is a huge part of telling a proper story. I can play most instruments. With an especial fondness for pan pipes." She sounds especially amused at that.

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
Charlie mouths thousands after Cael says it and peers at Sprite for the explanation about being very veyr old.

"Well I'm not going to reach out and talk to any of them. They seem like jerks. Most of the books that touch on the few chaos users of magic out there involve them though so ... eh." she gestures sort of helplessly at her smol pile of books.

"I don't think I've ever heard pan pipes played for real.. just saw them in goat person statues..." she muses then shakes her head. "Living that long has to be trippy... like how do you remember all the stuff.. or do you forget it..."

Cael Becker has posed:
"Well, she apparently remembers taming dogs," Cael remarks in a dry voice. "So she must remember at least parts of it." She scratches at Bear's head some more before adding quietly, "Jon says he's going to live that long." It's something she's still trying to understand, and come to terms with.
"Just before you go - I have a song I want you to teach the piano," she remarks, nodding her head towards it. "Once you play a song into it - it repeats it 20 some-odd times before adding it to the 'playlist' so- you definitely want to teach it songs on your way //out/.//"

Sprite has posed:
"Well, apparently you're in the right place..." Sprite says to Charlie. "There seem to be a lot of magic sorts here. And yeah, that was me a lot of the time." The goat-person. "You...just do? I'm not human, and my mind works differently. But I do remember all of it. I can play the pipes for you some time if you like.

"Jon? Probably not in the way you know him, if he's an avatar? I mean...that's usually the thing about avatars. The gods use them till they need a new one. But a part of him will probably always be part of Ma'at. I'm honestly not sure how the Ennead do it. And sure, I can play a tune on it. What did you want?" She hops up, and then starts over towards the piano.

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
Charlie considers that. "Huh... well I guess that makes sense. Not sure I think the way everyone does and I'm just weird." that is probably not at all what Sprite meant but sure Charlie roll with it.

"I would totes love to hear you play the pan pipes then sometime.... like a concert from a historically famous person." amusement.

She does pick up her books though because if the piano is going to go on extended repeat .. well... that will be a good time to try the training rooms. "Jon's an avatar?" okay yeah the ADHD chaos muppet is not the most observant, not a world class detective.

Cael Becker has posed:
"It's a bit different with Jon," Cael explains quietly. "He... died. His body was completely destroyed, by the Archangel Michael. And then in Duat, he merged with Ma'at, and became her Avatar, and was given a new body. He's not human anymore. At least, that's how Jon understands it, and explained it to me. Maybe he's wrong? But he doesn't think he's like the other Avatars. He doesn't think he'll age, or die."
She looks towards Charlie now - giving a nod of confirmation. "For a few months now, yes."

Sprite has posed:
Sprite grins. "Well, I guess it's just music all around. Do you know how to play, Charlie?" she asks. She assumes that Cael doesn't or she wouldn't have asked her. Her eyes go a bit wide as she listens to Cael. "How /interesting/." She beams. "I will DEFINITELY have to talk to Jon more! I need to know how all that went around."

She plays a few notes on the piano, as she tests the tune. In tune, as she expected of the fae. "So what is it I'm playing?"

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
"I mean, I got through music class in high school because it was required but no... I mostly know about punching bad guys, gadgets, and am struggling to learn magic."

    .. .. ..

"Oh and I kickass at video games."

She tucks the books back around now. "Well at least he survived... not sure what we all would have done without him about."

Cael Becker has posed:
"So. ...are you familiar with 'Never Gonna Give You Up'?" Cael asks a bit blandly - waiting for Sprite's reaction to the suggestion, before she picks up her coffee for another sip.
"They survived," Cael confirms. "They're still Jon. Here." She presses one hand to her chest. "And that's the only thing that really matters to me. That part of them... is still completely human."

Sprite has posed:
"Video games...that's something I don't know as much about. I'll have to have you show me, Charlie." Sprite says, and then blinks at Cael's words. "You want me. To rickroll the team." She stares at Cael, and then breaks out in giggles. "I KNEW I liked you. Yeah, I can do that." She smiles, and then starts to let her fingers dance over the keys, as she starts to play.

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
Charlie steps closer to the piano and watches Sprite. "I'm game anytime you want Sprite." she hasn't seen someone add a song to the piano before so it is worth watching.

Not worth staying to be rickrolled 20 times but worth watching Sprite play though.

Cael Becker has posed:
Cael smirks at Sprite, then levels a finger at Charlie. "No warning anyone. You're our accomplice in this," she says sternly - before breaking into a broad grin.
"Fuck, when this thing starts to repeat - we're going to want to get out of here. I'm not going to listen to that repeat 20 times..."
"I'm a big fan of video games too," Cael adds in an amused tone. "They're a good way to pass the time, really."

Sprite has posed:
Sprite grins. "Well, we'll have to look into that. Do we know if we have proper electricity here? TV, video games, whatever else goes with all that stuff?" She keeps playing. Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna...

After all, if it starts trying to rickroll HER, she can always make it sound like something else.

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
Charlie looks to Cael and then puts her hand to her heart. "I solemnly swear to be up to no good. I'm an agent of chaos remember."

She grins though "I wonder if I brought my game rig here if we could do a game party... Sprite asks the important questions..." she peers around thoughtfully.

Cael Becker has posed:
"Excellent. Knew I could count on you," Cael answers Charlie with a broad grin.
She then turns a speculative look on Sprite. "I've never tried to play video games here - I just play them at home. But I don't see why we... couldn't do that?" she muses thoughtfully. "If you dream it - it shows up, is how this place seems to work."

Sprite has posed:
"I don't know what you need to play them. We can play them here if we can, and if not, we can play them elsewhere. Just someone needs to tell me what we need to buy." Sprite offers. She finishes the tune; it doesn't take THAT long to play that song. "But as mentioned, we probably don't want to be in THIS room that much longer."

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
"Well.. I'm good at dreaming stuff... I will experiment with it and see what I can get running." she grins and then hugs her books tighter.

"Definitely ready to leave the internet meme on repeat room for the time being."

Cael Becker has posed:
"I'll see if I can get this place to provide us with a video game room, but until then..." Cael looks towards the piano as it starts replaying the song. This is going to get annoying fast. "Thanks for the help, see you both later! I think I'm going to go work out." She hastily retreats from the room - as each of the three women go their own ways.
