Shoot them with the pointy end.
Date of Scene: 20 April 2020
Location: Avengers Mansion - Back Yard
Synopsis: Diana whines about her sad love life. Lame.
Cast of Characters: Wanda Maximoff, Diana Prince, Thor

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
Though a lot of the training happens in the Training Room, it's nice to be outside too. Clint has some targets he keeps for outdoor shooting, allowing him to practice with various weather and wind conditions. Or just enjoying the warm sun on a cloudless day. Which is what Wanda is doing.

She has the targets set up, and a bow and arrows. And has a leather guard to keep from snapping her arm with the bowstring. No sign of Hawkeye though, it's just Wanda. There's a pitcher of lemonade and some glasses on a tray that one of the staff has brought out, setting not too far away.

Wanda draws an arrow and then positions her feet, trying to remember how Clint showed her to set them. She makes a little adjustment and then nocks the arrow on the string. "Breathe normally. Draw back. Don't hold it. Let it loose," she repeats to herself. She draws a breath and lets it out, then draws the arrow back nearly to her nose and lets it go. It hits right on the bullseye's border.

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana is stepping out of the mansion and with her she carries something at her side. She'd observed what was going on out here and she'd gone to retrieve something from the back of her car she'd had stowed there.

"Good shot." Diana tells Wanda with a smile on her red hued lips. Her hair is tied back into a loose pony tail and she's wearing a black long sleeve shirt that clings to her body, along with a pair of dark blue jeans that equally are fit to her form.

"I brought you this." She tells the other. "I thought you might like to try it." She raises up a Themysciran bow and quiver loaded with golden arrows. The bow is a recurve, not like what Clint uses at all. He's got a hefty draw weight and is of beautiful craftsmanship with golden limbs and a glittering silver bowstring. "If you would like, anyway." Diana then adds with a slight smile still present.

Thor has posed:
Emerging from the manor house moments after Diana, the Asgardian known as Thor Odinson lifts his voice in greeting, "Ah, Wanda. When Lady Diana told me you were practicing the bow I thought assuredly she was confused and meant Barton." Then he nods to the Amazon with a single sharp motion, "It seems I was mistaken."
That said he advances out to stand nearby, eying the target and then the young mutant in turn before he nods once. "A fine shot indeed."
That said he makes use of the lemonade that is available, pouring himself a glass and lifting an eyebrow to either of the others, and if they would wish it so he will pour them a glass as well. He takes a seat on the picnic table there, not on the bench and on the table itself with his booted feet upon the benchseat. It's from there that he nods, "Tis good that you are sharing interests." As if he was some old hand at relationships.

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
Wanda's face lights up after her first shot. She's pulling out a second arrow and starting to knock it when she spots the approach of Diana Prince. The sight of the bow and quiver draws a smile from Wanda, though one that only grows brighter as Diana explains the arrows were not intended for herself.

"Oh, Diana. It's such a beautiful bow," Wanda says, sliding back into the quiver the arrow she had in hand. She carefully puts the bow she was using aside as Diana walks over with the other. Wanda takes it when offered, examining it more closely. "Clint would probably have it in purple and black if he made it," she says with a soft grin while running her hand over the smooth, well-cared for wood.

"I would love to try it," Wanda confirms. She'll take the quiver if offered too, pausing for a moment to sense whether there is any magic within the bow and the arrows. "Have your people been using the same techniques with your weapons going back to when they acted openly within the world?" she asks.

Thor's arrival gets a pleased smile and a wave from Wanda. And a nod at the gesture as for lemonade. "Yes, we were shooting the other day. I actually..." she says, then pauses as if whether to tell that story. Well, she'd started it. "Before we got together, I'd intended to ask him to show me how to shoot. Planned to wear some perfume and make sure he was having to adjust my stance and arm so he'd be smelling it," she admits with a blushing laugh. "Now, I just want to share in what he loves a bit. Maybe do better the next time we shoot together."

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana lets Wanda take the bow and the arrow filled quiver. There is no magic in this set, it is simply a warrior's bow crafted out of metals from the island itself. "I am not sure if you have shot a bow of this variety before, but the principles remain largely the same." She says softly before folding her hands together as she glances over to Thor, then back to Wanda.

"Ah, yes we have mostly maintained the same training, though archery requires different skills for how you plan to use it. For instance a mounted archer will use a smaller bow with a lighter draw weight, for agility's sake." She pauses then and a slight grin forms across her lips as she leans toward Wanda and fake-whispers. "And the historians are quite wrong about Amazons cutting off breasts to make it easier to fire. Men just like to pretend their bodies are the best at everything."

She doesn't want to offend poor Thor though, so she keeps that comment at a very fake-whisper level so he surely won't hear it! She turns to look at the Asgardian and reaches out to touch his mighty arm, patting him there softly. When she looks back to Wanda then she grins yet still. "Archery and seduction go hand in hand, yes?"

Thor has posed:
"Ah," Thor nods solemnly, "Insight into the wiles of women. I imagine now you both are honorbound to the sisterhood to prevent me from leaving this area and spreading the news." The Asgardian's lip twists with amusement as he looks at them, and then chuffs a little with amusement when Diana seeks to mollify him.
Though he does give a small nod at her pat-pat-patting, as if indeed his poor ego was eased, but his smirk is all the stronger for it.
Though he turns back and ponders for a moment. "I think, in my youth..." His eyes lift as he lets his thoughts drift back and back, "That in pursuit of a young shieldmaiden I had my eye on, I entered into a sporting event I had never tried. Handling of a sailing ship, just on the outskirts of an island off the shores of Norway."
Then he looks to Wanda and he smiles, "It pleases me to hear that we are not the only gender to indulge in such... machinations."

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
Wanda holds up one of the golden arrows as Diana mentions archery and seduction going together. "There are certainly more than enough euphemisms that could be made," she says, giving the arrow a slight flourish to suggest at least one such example.

Wanda gives the bow a few test pulls and then moves back to her spot, setting her feet again. "You must continue the story now that you've started it, Thor. How did the matter turn out?" she asks while eying the target. Wanda takes a few conscious, calm breaths and then draws the bow, the string back nearly to her nose and sights it and lets it go.

She hits on one of the outer rings. "I'll settle for that for a first shot with it," she says, drawing out another arrow. "As it turned out I didn't need to resort to my machinations," she says, using Thor's words for it. "Though it was, unhappy events that finally drew our feelings out into the open," she says.

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana moves to sit down on the edge of a bench just a few steps away and she then crosses her legs at the knees as her eyes go from the Archer in Wanda to the Sailor in Thor.

She grins softly at him as she puts one arm back on the bench and raises a hand to put her fingertips against the side of her head whilst she stares upon the man. "I have never liked cologne's or perfumes. I prefer nore natural smells on those that I have feelings for. That is not to say unclean smells, mind you ... just, simply, good real scents."

Her stare goes to Wanda then. "I am glad that you have found someone you can confide in then, I have not spent much time with Clint but I admire him for a lot of reasons. He is an astounding marksman for as young as he is." She's 900 years old after all.

Thor has posed:
When Diana mentions her preference for scents he looks to her and gives a nod, "Curiously enough I've always felt the same way. In Court I would always be accosted by various women of prominence and they would ask me about their perfumes, whether it was fetching or fragrant and I? I have never cared for any of them."
Then, expecting them to be disbelieving he adds, "Not a one."
Still shaking his head, but then the prince nods as he accepts Wanda's words, for indeed they have endured some dark times and it is often that such tends to draw people together. He shoots a glance over at Diana even as the young mutant woman nocks and draws again, but then he clears his throat and continues his story.
"Well, as to that. Her name was Heaeli." He uncurls a hand and smiles as he looks to the side, then back towards them. "She was this tall woman, raven-haired, brilliant emerald eyes, daughter of a chieftain who had taken up our cause at the time. She had eyes only for this one young man named Svan. Or Sven?" A pause as he looks off in the distance.
Then he shakes his head and smiles, "It has been some time since I thought of them. But, naturally, I felt if there was a contest. Well it existed for me to win it, yes?" The Thunderer crinkles his nose a little, knowing full well about his arrogance in youth.
"And how different could sailing with the wind be from the ships we used in Asgard? Not different at all assuredly."

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
Wanda Maximoff moves over to take a glass of lemonade and sip it while she listens to the others. "I'm afraid I would have to get very close to notice one's natural scent," she tells them. "Not that I would want to be someone who leaves everyone in the elevator looking at each other after she departs," Wanda says with a laugh, before taking another sip of the sweet-tart beverage.

"But... something like this. Where one has to get close to notice it?" she counters, and gives a small smile. Wanda moves back over to her spot again and readies another arrow. "Well, the wind is probably a bit more unruly than Asgardian magic that pilots your ships," Wanda says, smiling as she thinks she can see where this story might be going.

She takes aim again, drawing the arrow back and letting it go. It flies through the air, landing on the ring inside of where the last one hit. An improvement.

Diana Prince has posed:
"Very different." Diana replies to Thor with a broadening grin there after. "Depending on Poseidon's mood that day. Or his favor, or lack there of, for you." Her grin lingers a hair longer before she fades it and looks to Wanda, her eyes follow the shot to it's target before she looks back to the shooter.

"I certainly see the appeal of wearing an alluring scent to draw in the one you are after though. I... recall the first time I was close to someone that I desired the attention of." She gets a bit distant in her stare there as her foot that is up in the air wiggles side to side a little.

"She--" Take that! it wasn't Steve Trevor! "--smelled of the wildflowers that grew near to the stables that she tended. It made my heart beat faster in my chest just to know that scent was on her." Diana lets that distant memory fade though and she smiles at the both of them.

"Do you like that bow?" She asks Wanda. "You probably should practice with your other more though, as it is more practical for your needs to keep Clint's attention." She's teasing and the slight grin shows it.

Thor has posed:
"Very different," Thor nods knowingly to Diana and smiles a little between them. "And, in truth, I did... not come in first in the contest." He offers that insight as he grins with the memory, taking a deep breath. But then he nods, "Though afterward I was pleased to have lost."
He shifts his weight a little on the bench there, nodding towards Diana as if she might share some aspect of connection for the sentiment he voices, "If I had wooed her and won, then she would likely never have spent time with her future husband and she deserved that happiness better than what little I could offer."
That said he gives a nod, and a chuckle added when they mention what particular scents they prefer. It likely creates a thought or two for the Thunderer and he nods. There's even a moment at the end when his lips part as if he were about to voice his own opinion, but that thought he leaves ungranted for now.

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
Wanda Maximoff stands holding the bow, listening. The woman younger than both of them by centuries smiling softly as their tales are told. "I sometimes wonder how much you remember the years," Wanda comments to them. "I can't quite imagine recalling something even a hundred years ago with clarity. Not without something extra to help with the recall," she comments. "Is it much the same for you where a few high points, or low points, stand out, but most of the years fade unless something brings them to mind?" she asks.

Wanda looks back to the target. "Oh, I'm not too terribly worried about how good I get. I'd like to improve though. And you know... if Clint gets together with... I don't know. Green Arrow? And some girlfriend of his, and they all want to shoot, I don't want to embarrass him and be the worst," she says with a soft laugh. "Though I don't know if he even knows Green Arrow. Do archer heroes congregate much?"

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana just looks to Thor when he talks of being happy to have lost that race. "That is sweet." She tells him quietly. "That you would feel that way. After all it sounds as though the relationship that those two formed because of it was... good for them." She holds her smile for a second before adding. "We should go sailing some time. It has been a long time since I was on a sail boat and I miss them."

Her eyes drift back to Wanda then. She grins to the woman. "You are being self conscious, Miss Maximoff." She tells her. "I do not think Clint would think any less of you if you could not fling an arrow as good as others. You are beautiful and your strengths are deep and varied. He sees that in you, I am sure of it. Your confidence should run much deeper." There's a pause then from the Princess. "Besides, can your magic not simply make others believe an arrow has landed wherever you wish it too?" She asks, grinning once again.

She doesn't comment on her own memory as it's often a strange subject to try to explain to others.

Thor has posed:
"Twas," The Asgardian confides in Diana as he nods slowly, "For me, at that age, I was looking but for a dalliance. But for her it was a life decision to spend time with someone to grant her love." A tilt of his head is lifted as he swirls the ice in his glass a little, gaze thoughtful. "S'why from that time I had always tried to be... mindful of my connections with others."
But then he adds with a smile, "Assuredly," They should go sailing, "When the Spring is fully here, perhaps." Since the river can be so cold these days.
He leaves it at that for now, but then the topic shifts subtly. To the control and remembrance of memories. "I imagine it's much the same?" Thor tells Wanda as he takes another sip of lemonade. "We do remember things rather well, just as a people. I cannot say summon to mind what I was doing if you asked of me what passed on the fourth day of the first month two hundred and twelve years ago. But... my memories are strong, vivid when they are summoned and I can recall much of the details."
He smiles a little as he looks to the side, then back as he tilts his head at Diana and murmurs, "I am sure I have told you this before, but tis why my people keep tales. We turn the strong events of our lives into stories, or song. It helps us keep our past and our heritage."

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
Wanda gives a little wave of her hand and a smile. "I'm just joking," she tells Diana. "Though I am sure it would give him pleasure to see me shooting well. And besides, it just... helps me feel like I know him a little better. Walk a smile in his shoes, as it were," she says in her typically slowly spoken English with the soft accents.

Wanda turns back, taking another shot. This one is a little closer to the center as well. She brings the bow back to Diana then. "Thank you for bringing it for me to try," she says. "It was an honor to get to shoot it. Let me go grab the arrows," she adds, turning to jog down to the target and retrieve them.

"So I've wondered, Thor. Here there are a certain amount of expectations of royal lines to continue them. Is there that sort of imperative in Asgard? Though you are still in the young prime of your life by your people's standards, are you not?" she asks as she returns with the golden arrows.

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana accepts the bow back from Wanda when she brings it. "Of course." She says to the other with a slight smile for her. "And yes, I understand. Taking interest in the things that our partners love is a very good thing to do." She glances down to the target and hears Thor talk about his memories, causing her to look over to him then as she uncrosses her legs and places her forearms atop her thighs, palms flat together then. "I remember much the same. Though you have gotten to live a much more open life than I have, Thor." She comments. "I wish I had gotten to see more of the world's history than I even have. Joining the wider world when I did was a blessing, but... I would have really liked to have seen more of history unfold around me." She shows a grin then though. "But it's possible I would have become a public heroic type much further back in time then, and that might have changed a great many things. So perhaps it is best it worked out as it has."

At the question of Thor's royal duties, Diana grins. "I believe he is searching for a bride on Tinder, yes?" She asks the Prince.

Thor has posed:
Clapping his hands a few times at her improvement, Thor smiles wryly with a nod, "You're getting better." And then she's off and jogging to the targets. So he holds his tongue for the nonce until she gets close enough to hear him easily when he answers her.
"Aye," he murmurs in answer, giving a single nod in turn as he takes a sip from his lemonade. "It is likely at some point in the offing I should turn my thoughts towards a bride and family." There is a small distancing to his gaze as Thor lets his eyes wander a little, but then he gives a small shrug, "I have given thought in that direction in the past. But naught has come of it."
A polite way of phrasing some things assuredly.
But then he straightens and smiles pleasantly, "Though there is still time."
A nod is given to Diana, "Aye, I did. Though my time was spent between the nine realms, I have missed much here on Midgard." But then she offers her wry comment about Tinder and he snorts, "You recall that joke, it was Stark who put me up to it. Though there is something amusing about how it reduced courtship to just a pure..."
He pauses, looking for the right words, then continues, "Exercise of pursuit? But ultimately was not for me."

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
Rather than resuming the archery practice, Wanda moves to take a seat on the picnic table, sitting on the bench rather than the tabletop as Thor is. She takes up her lemonade and says of the Tinder incident, "I do think I have heard of this before now. I am not quite sure which of us I would have thought to be the last to go on Tinder. Perhaps Bruce? But Thor would have been in the running," she says.

Wanda gives a little shake of her head. "Such things are not for me either. Maybe it should have been though. My relationship history is not the thing to inspire stories or songs. Though, it seems to have worked out for the best in the long run, so I'm quite content with that."

Wanda smiles up to Thor, and then looks towards Diana. "And Diana, what of your stable tender? Did that ever lead anywhere? Into a meadow full of wildflowers?"

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana cannot help but release a short and sweet laugh at Thor's response about Tinder. While looking down at her lap with her hands are she shakes her head side to side and raises her eyes again to look back to him. "I did not know you actually tried it." She tells him, then smiles warmly to him. "I am sorry it didn't work out though. I imagine your dates were very enthusiastic once they found out who it was and that it was not a fake profile." She shows him a grin before she moves the bow off of her lap to lay it against the quiver of arrows at the side of the bench.

To Wanda she looks and the question makes her swmile again before she leans back against the bench once more. "She and i were together for a month. There was a lot of romance involved." Diana states, smiling at the thoughts of it, but the smile comes to fade. "I was a different person back then. I was young and brash. After my mother let me begin my Amazon training, it started to go to my head... My arrogance was far worse than it ever should have been. She was the only one amongst my closest companions who did not..." Diana shakes her head softly right to left. "She did not candy coat words to me, or feed my ego. She spoke to me as I needed to be spoken to, and it infuriated me, and... enticed me."

The Princess shows another quick smile then before looking away. "But my arrogance lead to an accident, that ended in her tragic death and, I ... well, I knew I needed to change."

Thor has posed:
A snort and a shake of his head is given as Thor looks between them both, "Naught came of it since as soon as it became clear what I was doing Natasha took great exception and had strong words with Stark. So I never got to any of the dates or the like." A small chuckle shakes his head as he looks away, then back. "But ah, in truth it was perhaps... a smidge tempting."
That said he turns his attention to Diana as she offers the tale of her own brush with romance. He follows along with her words and tilts his head to the side, listening and frowning a little when the tale is touched with sadness. He nods slowly as some of the sentiments she voices are echoed in his own past.
"Ah Diana." His brow furrows, eyes lowering, "It is sorrow that you had to suffer such to reach that point. I have often thought..." He stops, holding his words, then changes them as he murmurs, "It seems you often carry with you a great weight on your shoulders. I am pleased you have shared with us some insight into that burden."

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
As Diana's tale unfolds, Wanda is smiling gently at first. But the ending causes her green eyes to shine with a soft empathy. "If she was free with her words, I imagine she would look with pride upon the woman that you have become. Not just your own deeds, but for the inspiration you are for so many little girls out there," Wanda tells Diana. She adds with a soft expression suitable for a chuckle. "And a few of us bigger girls too."

Wanda picks up her lemonade and sips it. She offers her glass in a little toast. "To old loves, and old memories. May we not forget them, and may their influences be positive things in our lives," she says.
