Check It Out Bro
Date of Scene: 22 August 2022
Location: Labs and Mines - Wakanda
Synopsis: Shuri and T'Challa discuss small details of the upcoming Starport
Cast of Characters: Shuri, T'Challa

Shuri has posed:
Shuri sits in front of a light screen in the lab, her fingers dancing over holographic keys, occasionally darting up to sweep an item aside or to manipulate a figure. This is more of a personal side project, just something to keep her mind busy while she waits for T'Challa to come down to the lab. His schedule is, of course, very full so getting him to drop by to see something requires her to not exactly make an appointment, but at least be patient because he isn't instantly available to her at a moment's notice.

BORING.

Sensors tell her of her brother's approach, however, and she moves to sweep a button to activate the door, letting it slide open in advance to invite him in. "Finally! Do I need to put rollerskates on that suit?" she calls back, her hair put up into cute little afro puffs atop her head.

T'Challa has posed:
For a man who does not enjoy lateness in any form, be it on his side or someone else's, it is a good half-hour before King T'Challa can pry himself away from matters. The best he could do was a quick message via Kimoyo beads: 'I will be delayed.' Any responses go unchecked. Just the way it is sometimes.

When he finally arrives, just as the doors part for him, he lets a short sniff of breath out. "Tribal council meetings, sister. Where people always speak for far too long, enamored of the sound of their own voices. You did not wish to join us?" His question is one of teasing as he offers one of their usual greetings, the traditional salute along with their own set of hand slaps.

"What is today's project?" he asks, scoffing at the comment about the roller skates. He is dressed typically for Wakandan meetings: fancy finery without being garish or ostentatious.

Shuri has posed:
Shuri shakes her head as she takes a seat, "If you will recall, I was the one who read and considered all of the petitions to be placed before the council in advance. I knew all too well that the Southern delegation had every intention of talking your ear off aobut their petty disputes and I decided unequivocally to protect my own sanity and stay far, far away. Not to mention that their leader smells like dung."

She picks up a small controller and presses a button and a small sphere rises into the air, howevering momentarily, a light grid projected above it to show a menu. "I wanted to show you the prototype of the helper drones I'm making for the Starport. And I wanted to know if you wanted them to have weapons capabilities for security purposes. Just in case."

T'Challa has posed:
"No weapons. Not even something that will tickle someone with a shock," T'Challa first answers, shaking his head as he takes up a standing position to have a closer look. "There is already ample security in multiple forms. But what will these drones be for?" He examines the menu that pops up, a brief 'Ah' heard.

Tapping his nose, he adds, "And you know my senses are stronger. It gives me a unique ability to smell certain..things more easily. That is a benefit of mine during some of these meetings and discussions."

Shuri has posed:
Shuri sighs, "Because it will reduce the burden on personnel who will get asked the exact same questions over and over again. the hospitality staff can focus on making the experience better for visitors without being pestered about pointing out where the bathrooms are or reciting the same rote text about the purpose of the facility. Because some people would rather talk to machines than people," she says. "Myself included."

"Well, it's good to know that the herb's benefits have downsides, too. I personally could do without smelling other people's odors."

T'Challa has posed:
T'Challa stands back up to normal height after having leaned in for a closer look. "It is a good idea. A different form of information boards, and mobile at that. Yes, I can tell how much you dislike conversation. I have noticed this often." This is one of those moments where their sibling bond and rivalry shines through in the bemused expression he wears.

Without going back into the things enhanced senses and other benefits allow, he gestures toward the drones and adds, "I am already hearing questions as to Wakanda's involvement in this project. The world at large still mostly does not know the truth. This may be one way to bring it out further."

Shuri has posed:
Shuri sighs, "We don't have to take open credit for it. They're just meant to provide a service. It's fine, we don't have to use them,' she says, although it's hard not to notice her irritation. "It was only a couple of weeks work. Easy enough to scrap."

"I dislike conversation with imbeciles. I've never considered you among that number, brother, although I'm happy to reconsider if you want," she teases.

T'Challa has posed:
T'Challa guides a hand toward Shuri's shoulder, then gestures for her to look his way. "Would you let me know where I told you this was a bad idea and you should not do it? Because I would like to know where I said that." There is a hint of seriousness in his expression, because there is a point to the question.

He explains further, "We did not agree to help create the Starport without the understanding that questions would arise. This is something I have been preparing for in one way or another for years. We are closer than ever to the world learning more about us, but it is important we try to control the message as much as we can."

All this said, he can't help but smile at her own teasing.

Shuri has posed:
Shuri may be a little sensitive at times. A Princess and inventor, tender in her feelings about her own creations? Who could have guessed? She swallows her feelings for the moment, however, recognizing that T'Challa means no slight in his comments. "I know we are being cautious in the ways we open ourselves to the world," she says. "As I said, I could easily make the technology anonymous enough. It's not so very advances as that. I could remove the hard light aspects," she says. The holographic elements are, of course, one of her favorite toys and flourishes to put on an item, something tantamount to signing her work.

"We don't want to frighten them, of course. Colonizers are so very easy to frighten. Strange, for nations that have instilled so much fear in their own rights."
