Welcome to Paradise
Date of Scene: 25 August 2022
Location: Themyscira City
Synopsis: The visitors to the island arrive via the Jet and are given a honored reception!
Cast of Characters: Diana Prince, Caitlin Fairchild, Peggy Carter, Daniel Sousa, Kora Ikassis, Janet van Dyne, Lois Lane

Diana Prince has posed:
The journey to the island of Themyscira was unique, in so far as to say that the ride offered was aboard the ethereal yacht-like craft known as the 'Invisible Jet'. Of course, the jet can be entirely visible, should it be deemed by Wonder Woman. But during travel it usually remains as its namesake. The interior, however, is quite visible, though with some measure of translucent effect to its walls and bulkheads. The interior is a cloud-like affair, with comfortable seating, and natural light coming in through that partially see-through atmosphere, allowing sun to just shine within the vessel itself. Alien technology.

When it was announced that they were coming up on the island, the view outside would yield just the crystal clear waters of the Aegean Sea, with puffy white clouds dotting the sky, and seemingly endless ocean....

But then, the barrier would be broken, and the jet would suddenly be plunged in to darkness, surrounded by clouds on all sides. It might even be a bit unsettling, if it didn't pass within a matter of mere moments.

Quickly, the Jet would burst from the barrier and enter in to an island oasis. The crescent moon-shaped island looming now in the foreground, surrounded by pale blue waters that ease up on to brilliantly bright white sandy beaches. At the island's core? Deep greens, tall hillsides, even taller mountains and a forest between it all that seems to be lush with life.

Spanning around that forest on the northern, and western edges, is a city right out of the history books. A sprawling Ancient Greek city with towers that rise up high, and streets lined with buildings of all sizes and shapes. Long bridges span over waterways that sweep through the city, the main bridge in to the city crossing over a massive waterfall that sends white water gracefully tumbling toward an ocean-directed river.

"Here we are..." Diana had said, standing outside of the archway in to the Jet's cockpit, as the vessel near-silently curved its way around to the north, coming back southward toward the city, and toward the largest building upon the tallest hill. The Queen's Palace.

"They are, of course, expecting us." The Princess told her fellow travellers with a warm smile.

The Jet would touch down mere moments later, a platform built along the eastern edge of the palace, lined with grass and gardens, the tower is built specifically for the Jet, and across its southern edge is a line of armored figures, all female, all dressed in ceremonial garb. Themysciran flags held high, crimson hued, with golden Eagles embroidered upon the deep scarlet.

Diana would guide the passengers toward the Jet's exit ramp, dressed in a dark navy blue cloak, with golden lining marking its edges, her own Eagle Armor worn beneath the cloak. The Princess is the first to descend the Jet, with two Amazons flanking her either sides. She stops at the bottom of the ramp and turns to wait for the others.

A warm breeze comes up from outside, sweeping in to the jet's interior, carrying with it a flowery scent of sweet local flora, and the distant oceans beyond, the smell of a tropical wonderland...

Outside the ceremonial guards wait for the honored arrival of new guests...

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
"Ladies and gentlemen, this is your pilot speaking. Please make sure your tray tables and chairs are in the upright and locked position," Caitlin says over the intercom once she's brought the plane in. The towering redhead's a surprisingly skilled pilot and the touchdown is smooth as could be, even on manual descent. "We know you don't have a choice in flying with Themyscira Air, so thanks for nothing. Tip your pilot, I'm here all week," she announces.

She finishes the landing procedures, shuts down the engines, and stands up to smile at Peggy and Dan from around the corner. "You two go on ahead, I've got medical equipment to unpack and then I'm gonna go prep the birthing area," she urges the two of them.

Peggy Carter has posed:
As much as Peggy could sleep on the flight over, she did. It's about as much as she does at home, which is fitfully, waking up every hour or so to pee or find another position where part of her isn't going numb. There is nothing but late pregnancy which is comfortable, much less being quite due (maybe a bit OVER due). No one tell her she drooled on Daniel's shoulder, but that definitely happened a few times as well. Not to mention some light snoring. It's not her most elegant showing, but then she trusts everyone on this plane enough to see her at her least put together.

When they finally touch down, she jerks awake with a short breath, sitting up with start, one hand to the side of her stomach. "Oh...here. We're...here! Good... good. That... well, that wasn't too long." She smiles, brushing one hand back through her mostly flattened curls in an attempt to look a bit more put together. She smirks at Caitlin's words, "I think we'll be fine if you want to settle in first. No... real start to things yet. Maybe we all get a day of vacation?" Peggy asks with a smile. But she will accept Daniel's help up out of the chair before looking up to Diana, "And...thank you for having us again. Truly."

Daniel Sousa has posed:
The flight over was like something out of a dream, and seeing their destination didn't seem any less dream like. Daniel smiles glancing to Peggy excitedly, as if to ask 'are you seeing this?' though when the plane has landed he's quick to get to his feet to help Peggy up, throwing a smile over his shoulder to Caitlin. "Like she said, we should be good for a little bit. but thank you Caitlin, that was one heck of a flight over."

Kora Ikassis has posed:
Among those disembarking from the jet is a young woman, Kora, the youngest among all present day Amazons. The trip continues to be a novel experience for her - the changes in altitude, being able to see the curve of the horizon from a window, flying above the clouds, kept her enthralled during the trip. As a trainee on the New York staff, she has no set duties beyond being part of the delegation accompanying Princess's friend back to the Island.

It is her first return to her second home and to seeing her mother. Careful to hide the tears clouding her eyes on seeing the beautiful curve of the beach, she follows last in the group descending the ramp, donned in ceremonial bronze and leather armor and a short blue cape.

Janet van Dyne has posed:
Janet stretches hugely and gets off the aircraft with the others. Designer shades, cute dolphin-shaped gold earrings, and a long maxi-dress with a colorful, vaguely tribal print to it in gold, tan, black and with a smattering of greens.

"Whew! Well it's not first class, but it's not bad," Janet says, looking at the scenary. She descends the tamp with her characteristic self-possession, as if Diana's summoned the guards to be Janet's personal assistants.

The socialite pauses her chunky white sandal heels on the stonework and pulls a wide-brimmed sunhat on, tilting it back at an angle to frame her features.

Two hidden clapss on the dress are undone and she shakes it off like a cape to reveal a similar printed dress under it-- except made of fine silk and diaphanous enough to show off the white-and-gold high-fashion bikini she's donned under it.

"There, that's better," she declares, and tucks the dress into the loops of her purse. Kora stops nearby and is is just.... standing there, so Janet offers her the handle to the rolling luggage. "Yes, thank you dear, just mind scuffing the leather."

Diana Prince has posed:
As the group disembarks from the Jet's interior, a group of Amazons come up the long staircase carrying a custom-designed platform with wooden and bronze handrails that they deliver to the Jet itself, stopping only beside Diana where they lay it down. It is able to seat two, and is built with comfort inmind, with a drape of multi colored cloth wraps around the top that helps block out the sun rays that beat down from the blue skies above.

Diana regards those who deliver this comfort-driven luxury, and she smiles to one of the trailing Amazons who holds their helmet under an arm against her left hip. A blonde woman, tall like Diana, and quite muscled. "Captain Armad." Diana greets the blonde woman who bows to the Princess.

Captain Armad speaks up to Diana then. "Welcome home, Princess Diana." She says in a stern voice. "The Queen has been eager for your arrival." She adds before looking to the others. It is quite easy to see who the 'expecting' is, as it very clearly is not the one handing her luggage off to one of the lower ranked Amazon guardswomen.

The Captain smiles to Peggy, then to Daniel as well. "Welcome to you both, as well. I am Captain Armad, I have been assigned to see to your comforts, and arrival experience here upon the island. The Queen has issued this to be your transport for the entirety of your visit." The Captain motions to the chairs upon the well decored platform. "The Queen has also decreed that her private garden within the palace shall be the ideal place for rest for our expecting mother and father, should they so desire a quiet location to enjoy this historic experience."

"Thank you, Captain." Diana notes with a soft smile before she looks to the others. "Kora, would you help Janet with her luggage?" She asks of the youngest Amazon, while the one that Janet tried to hand the luggage off to simply stared at the woman with mild confusion, mild... many things.

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
Caitlin levels A Look at Peggy and Dan at their polite response. "Hey, so-- the second we took off, I became your primary care physician," she reminds them. "So that's on me to decide when and how to take care of the arrangements. Which I am doing." Caitlin's not a peremptorial sort of person, but it seems medical care is one area she insists on! "And if you two don't relax and let me do my job, you're talking yourself -right- out of that first epidural!" she scolds Peggy. "And then I'll--" she glances up, hearing Armad, and helps Dan and Peggy get their things off the plane.

"--sell it on the black market for a new breastplate!" she finishes in a whisper under her breath to them both.

"Hi Armad! Don't mind me, I'm just unpacking medical gear," Caitlin promises the Captain, and heads back into the Jet's cargo bay.

Kora Ikassis has posed:
Part of adapting to life outside of the island for Kora has been learning to "roll" with whatever novel situation comes up. Even the expression, like so many English idioms is new to her. Besides she has been to a luxury hotel /once/ and seen how a guest was waited on.

All of which explains her taking the well-dressed woman's luggage without a blink and a small nod of her head. On passing the other Amazon, she gives her a pleasant shrug that promises an explanation later.

Peggy Carter has posed:
Peggy's actually a bit wide-eyed at this entire experience. She did just wake up from a very long off and on nap, so that only adds further to the dream-like experience of this entire place. She keeps close to her husband's arm, just in case a shift from the baby (or god forbid a contract) try to send her to the ground, she will NOT be brought to her knees in front of these women. She trusts him to catch her. Otherwise, she has an easy, warm, diplomatic smile on her face and only her eyes give away that child like wonder a 100 year old woman hasn't had in a very long time.

"Princess, we are... incredibly honored by your invitation and your family's generosity. I certainly won't refuse the transport, or the comfort. I... suspect we will need it. Sooner rather than later. And of course, Dr. Fairchilde..." She smirks to the doctor as the woman heads off to finish her work. Janet and Kora are given a momentary, slightly worried look, but she doesn't intrude on the matter. She simply asks, "We'll all be staying close together, yes?"

Daniel Sousa has posed:
Daniel gives the guards a respectful nod as he descends holding Peggy's arm. "You got it doc," he tells Caitlin before she departs then turns to Diana and the Captain. "We're honoured by the welcome and the garden sounds lovely thank you for having us," he says hand extended to the Captain in greeting.

Janet van Dyne has posed:
Janet adjusts her hat minutely and drifts back to the Souza-Carter family. "I don't know about you two, but I am *so* excited for what Diana has in store for us for entertainment," she informs them. "This place is just--" she inhales deeply, rising on her toes, then lets it out like she's performing some yogic adoration of the sun. "I can't wait to feel the sand in my toes. This is the vacation I needed. Just some friends, some good wine, and plenty of scen--" Janet bumps into Armad and jumps a little like she didn't see her there.

"Oh! I'm so clumsy, don't mind me," she promises Armad with a winninng smile, and gives her arm a pat. "I'm just-- oh my. Wow."

Now she's squeezing Armad's forearm and bicep a little experimentally. "Christ on a cracker," she mutters. "Now I'm actually sad Carol's not here, just so she'd die of envy. Does everyone here work out like this, or are you just one of those with perfect genes?" she inquires of the blonde captain.

Diana Prince has posed:
The tall Captain Armad is quick to shake Daniel's hand, a noteably strong grip from the leather wrapped warrior woman's hand. She knows the gesture though and gives the man's hand a quick pair of pumps. "Of course." The Captain says to Daniel. "We are eager here to see new, good souls, visit our homeland." She says with a reserved edge to her tone, almost like she doesn't /quite/ mean it, but is trying.

Diana, on the other hand, smiles toward Peggy and nods ever so slightly once. "You are our honored guest. It truly is a... moment we hope will be remembered for a long, long time."

Of course, Janet's aside with the good Captain, has Diana regarding her with a blossoming smile. Captain Armad releases Daniels' hand and looks over to Janet, then down at where her arm is being massaged. Her eyes go back up to Janet then. "That is accurate, enough." Armad says. "We train every day. We have a responsibility to this world to be ready to be called in to action at a moment's notice. There is no room for weakness, fear, or hesitation, Miss?"

"Van Dyne." Diana says, appearing behind Janet to gently rest her hands on the woman's shoulders. "She has gone through some hard times of late, and was the catalyst for this little adventure..." The Princess notes, sweeping her eyes over everyone who has arrived here with them this afternoon.

"Of course." The Captain says, before nodding once to Janet. Armad then motions to the exquisite traveling carriage designed for Peggy and Daniel. "If you would, mother and father... We shall take you to the Queen's Garden where we will instruct you on a few elements of your visit here. It will not be anything too unpleasant, I assure you. But, having a male upon the island, we must go over just a few things before you are free to do as much touring, and exploring of the island, as you would so desire."

Diana motions to the distant ocean, and the beach beside it. "I can show you the way down there, Janet." She says to the flamboyant fashionista.

Her eyes then go to Peggy and Daniel. "There are villas set aside for guests that we will see to this evening as well. They are all close together, so everyone will be within a short distance from one another. We wouldn't want to separate anyone."

One of Kora's friends in the Guards approaches Kora then to offer her a welcoming embrace, and a few soft words of being happy to see the young Amazon return as well.

"We can be off then, as soon as everyone is ready." Captain Armad says as the rest of the Guardswomen continue to stand at attention, with their massive red and gold flags whipping in the warm tropical wind coming across the island, and the city of Themyscira.

Peggy Carter has posed:
While Peggy hasn't been standing that long, it's not something she's apt to do much these days, so as the Captain motions to the carriage, she carefully steps over and, using Daniel's shoulder, up into the elegant thing before she lowers herself back down into the seat. She's still smiling, but clearly happy to be settled again, "Thank you. Of course, we will abide by whatever you wish. Short of stopping having this baby. I don't think anyone could stop the matter at this point and, frankly, wish this child would hurry up." Peggy mutters, giving a teasing little glare to ber belly. When Daniel's in the carriage with her, she settles a bit more to the side against him. The amount that it is clear this woman is very much deeply in love with this man is obvious. They make a natural pair.

Otherwise, she keeps a worried glance on Janet now and then. She's not exactly letting the woman out of her eye sight, it seems, as much as she can manage. She knows Jan might be trouble, but the look is just as protective and caring as anything. She also knows it's still a very hard time.

Daniel Sousa has posed:
Daniel notes the touch of frost in Armad's reaction but is diplomatic enough to let it pass. "Thank you for accomidating us," he adds politely before joining Peggy on the carriage and putting his arm over Peggy's shoulders as she settles against him, just as much in love with his wife as she is with him. "Well since they're our kid I imagine they'll come when their good and ready and not a moment before." Stubborness was something the two of them shared.

Kora Ikassis has posed:
Kora exchanges a hearty one-armed embrace weighed down by her own bag with her friend, Ianthe, careful to keep a grip on Ms. Van Dyne's luggage. Promises are made to see one another later when she is free and they part smiling. She follows the others down to the waiting carriage, unsure how they will get their other guest to her quarters, but determined to get the bag unmarked to her destination.

It takes biting the inside of her lip to not crack a smile at the Captain's reaction to Ms. Van Dyne. If the lady finds strong women attractive, it will be an exciting trip for her. None of her thoughts find their way past the young woman's carefully neutral expression.

Janet van Dyne has posed:
Janet watches Armad walk off with an appreciative tilt of her head, because it's artwork in motion. Definitely absolutely nothing to do with her 'type', which is apparently buff blonde military types. The socialite turns the pad of her thumb against her teeth and hisses softly.

She turns around to look at Dan and Peggy, beaming with an unrepentant expression. Her smile falls minutely at Peggy and Dan giving her Concerned Looks. "/What/," she says, making it a flat declaration. "I am on rebound and I am on vacation *and* this is Paradise Island. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get my freak on. I'm sure these women have /forgotten/ more about screwi--"

She breaks off abruptly and pastes a Perfectly Pleasant smile on. Is it because Dan is there? Because Peggy is possibly giving her The Scowl? WHO KNOWS.

Janet loops an arm through Diana's elbow a little possessively. "Is-- where is Lois?" she demands. "Is she still asleep on the plane?" Janet gives Kora a little pausing motion with her hand before the dutiful Amazon rushes her bags off to... wherever they're going. Not a Janet problem. "Just a moment, dear, there's more of us coming," she tells the young woman.

Lois Lane has posed:
As if summoned, Lois hurries off the plane, one hand fussing to try and tame some of her hair that she'd been sleeping on awkwardly. "I'm alive, don't worry, I didn't exactly mean to fall asleep while working on interview questions..." This, after all, also a work vacation. Sort of. There will be work done at some point!

She waves a hand as she hurries towards the others. "Didn't even realize I was so tired." She flashes a smile at the others, then is immediately distracted by their surroundings. This is, after all, a paradise she never thought she'd get the opportunity to go to. It's mythical!

Diana Prince has posed:
Once the happy married couple are aboard the carriage, Captain Armad issues the command for the Amazons to tend to the carrying of the custom designed transport. Diana is watching Janet with a grin before she glances at the Jet. "Perhaps she is helping Caitlin." The Princess softly says before moving along to catch up with Kora.

"Once everyone is settled in, we can head to the beach where I believe there is to be a ceremony for the ushering of a baby to be born to the island. It should last in to the night hours where there will be food and drink, of course. A nice evening on the beach seems like a good way to spend the first day here, yes?" The Princess asks over to the others as the group starts down from the Jet's landing tower. With Lois arriving, Diana offers a wide smile to her. "Ah, good. We were just headed in to the palace now." She explains to the well-known journalist.

Soon enough the group ends up within the palace where they are taken to the Queen's Garden, which is filled with local flora, well cultivated flowers and sculptures of all sizes, from fully formed to statuettes of famous figures within the culture. IT's a balcony garden that rests on the western side of the palace overlooking the ocean far below.

It's here that the Captain of the guard relays a bit of information to those new to the island about what to expect, and their assigned escorts while on the island. It is very much just a simple presentation of what to expect, and ends with the Captain explaining that there is to be a ceremony held on the beach this evening in which the Mother and Father will be the honored guests, and that the Queen herself will attend to make their acquaintences.

After this is given, the group is left for a spell to enjoy the garden and the view of the deep blue sea beyond, along with the garden itself.

Drinks and food are soon brought out as well, plates of fruit, nuts, and some fancy pastries that seem to be a hybrid of Themysciran and some recently learned techniques brought in from off-island.

Peggy Carter has posed:
"Oh goodness... an entire celebration into the night? Well, I guess it's good I slept on the plane." Peggy gives a little laugh, her eyes wide at the thought. She's not complaining, but it is so much more than she thought was going to be happening. "We're... honored. I look forward to meeting the Queen." Until then, she properly listens to the rules as they are laid out, and does get comfortable with her husband in the gardens, munching on that light food and the drinks, but generally taking it quite easy until the party this evening. Peggy knows well to conserve her energy.

Daniel Sousa has posed:
"Wow, that is very generous, Ambassador, thank you. Anything we can do for you or your people while we're here?" he asks as he takes in their peaceful surroundings and settles next to his wife.

Kora Ikassis has posed:
Ms. Van Dyne represents everything modern to the young Amazon. University in New York hasn't begun for her yet, so she hasn't had the chance to be around someone born in the United States for long periods of time. Perfect, if the woman needs a valet or attendant, she has found one in Kora who will study her every move.

The Van dyne luggage safely stowed in her quarters, Kora returns to wait on the lady's beck and call.

Diana Prince has posed:
It is only a matter of moments of enjoying the garden before a whole host of Amazon women in different colored, loose-fit, clothing arrive with a number of carts with them. EAch cart is loaded to the brim with a variety of folded garments that they start to issue out to the visitors. The various women begin to explain that these garments have been specially designed for the honored guests, and that the clothing themselves were carefully directed in stylings by Princess Diana herself, each one taylered to the likings, and personality of the person they are being given to. It is quite an array of outfits, to be sure!
