First Patching Up A Friend. Now
Date of Scene: 10 September 2022
Location: Red Cave (14th Street Garage) - Park Row
Synopsis: Gabby pays a visit to Jason's garage seeing some help with damaged armor. Now she is on the path to getting new and better armor in the near future.
Cast of Characters: Jason Todd, Gabby Kinney

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason Todd leans over the hood of his car. It's not a Batmobile. It definitely isn't the RedMobile. But so far he hasn't arrived at a suitable name. The matte black, heavily modified '69 Mustang Mach 1 has the muscle and menace that seems to fit Red Hood's attitude. Eventually it'll get a name. With his luck someone will probably call her Gertrude and it'll stick. Figures.

Working the decidedly modern engine under the hood, it appears as if the car is devouring him from the waist up.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney really had been spending a lot of time in various garages as of late. Beteween Canelo's, Mercy's, and finally here she was beginning to feel a bit at home in them. Even if she didn't have much idea what she was doing under the hood other than 'pull those wires and it won't run.' Or cutting brake lines.

A buzzing alert to Jason's phone comes warning him of her impending presence before she steps in. Better to make sure he knows she's on her way than to get shot accidentally being thought an intruder.

"Hey Jay," she calls out while hefting a bag over her shoulder. "Got a hammer I can borrow? Got a few dents in some bodyarmor."

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason Todd has a far more effective system of security than shoot first. As paranoid as he was when he built this place, it is almost as difficult to sneak into as the Bat Cave.

He pauses what he was working on and moves to stand, wiping his hands on a rag. "Hey Gabby. Good to see you." He looks from the armor to her personage then back.

"It's just dented? I don't need to burn through the city's stock of medical superglue on you again..?" The smirk isn't spiteful and the glint in his eyes shows he's teasing. For once.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney responds to this in the most mature way possible: By sticking her tongue out at him, and flipping him off. It's finished off with a grin of amusement though since, let's face it, she DID need a lot of patching up last time so she could have the chance to heal properly.

"Yeah, just dented. Someone threw a brick at me. I mean, the armor held and all, but it took some wiggling out of to get off."

To prove her point she swings the bag forward to heft out a modified tactical vest. Body armor for her suit. "I mean I could go to the Roost to fix it, but I didn't really want to worry Phoebe. She's got enough on her plate lately."

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason Todd chuckles. "Never make promises.."

Walking over, he gestures to look at the armor. "A brick? If it dented that easily.." He flits his gaze to the shorter dervish of a girl. "We need to get you new armor. Not a hammer. Last thing we need is the armor caving in on your ribs. Kind of defeats the purpose of having protection, y'know?" He winks at her.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney opens her mouth to protest thinking he was about to remark on her fighting ability. That's not where it goes, though. It takes all of a few heartbeats for the remark to sink in earning a quick flush to her cheeks. The urge to stick her tongue out again comes only to be supressed because that would just lead to more teasing.

Instead she clears her throat looking to the armor with a thoughtful frown. "It is ... Okay, it's old," she has to admit sighing aloud. "I've got newer armor but it's for a different suit. This one's my original one from my original suit." Original suit? "Back when I was supposed to be an assassin."

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason Todd doesn't needle her further. Seeing that she doesn't snark back, he counts the point in his favor and listens to her explanation.

"That's fine. I mean.. it can't be _that_ old.. you're still 14 and all." Oh man. He just couldn't leave it alone. The look in his eyes shows he expects a full on shivving in his near future. One he deserves.

"But sure. I get what you mean." When a half smile he steps away, handing her the armor piece again. "Here. Hang on a second."

He walks back to the car and leans into the engine compartment to finish what he was orginally working on. A second later, he stands and closes the hood.

"Ok. C'mon. Lets look at getting you some proper armor. Lucky for you, you know a guy that can help." He taps his smart watch and inclines his head to have Gabby come with him. The floor under the unused car lift begins to sink and tilts, becoming a ramp. "This way, oh deadly assassin. We will find armor that is worth of your prowess."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
"Eighteen you doof!" Gabby cries out even though it was an obvious bait to get her to react. The armor is hefted overhead as if she intended to swing it at him, but she drops it down to one shoulder instead as she moves to follow along behind him. "You first," she offers teasingly. "I got a good view from here."

Her own lips quirk into a smirk as it seemed she was up for the challenge of snarking tonight. At least a little bit. "And hey, I was just trained to be an assassin. I never was one. Though I still know how to kill a person if I need to. I try not to need to... which is why new armor would be good, yes." Even as she chatters her gaze sweeps around the newly revealed path to the lower levels with a bit of admiration. "You guys get all the coolest toys."

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason Todd grins. "Oh. Right. I forgot you're old now." He just can't stop can he? He pauses at her comment on the view. "Plumber's crack does a thing for you, does it?" having just been leaning over the car and all.

"I was trained to be Batman's ol' Chum. But I kill anyway. Well. Not as much. None, recently. Damn. I'm going soft." He leads the way down into the hidden lair. Because that's what it is. "Welcome to the Red Cave. Because Bat Cave was already taken." He taps his watch again and the ramp closes up. Powerful lights illuminate the area and all of the gear and systems. It isn't the Bat Cave but it's just as effective for Jason.

"Well stick around, kid. Maybe you'll get some cool toys of your own. And armor that won't try to murder you itself."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
"Well you bat kids do start young," Gabby has to admit while she trails along, not saying anything about plumbers crack. She could be oggling but in truth she's looking over the auxillary cave. "Red Cave. You need theme lights then. Keeps your night vision intact, too." Something that he probably knew, but a red lighted room would likely be a bit stressfull after awhile.

"Kind of wish I'd met you all when I was younger. Got so much bull about 'not being old enough'. Fuck that. I got the training, I can't change that, at least gimme a productive outlet for it."

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason Todd shrugs, "Some more than others. " He doesn't seem too worried what Gabby is looking at. He half figures it's the cave anyway. "I can understand that. Part of that is my own faul I guess. A while there I didn't have much to do with anyone. If I'd been more aware of the Outsiders, I'd have given you a hand. Age is a number." He shrugs and walks over to what looks like a CNC machine. "Red has its moments of use. I just don't live in red you know? I'm Jason, not Sweeney" he says with a smirk.

"So. Armor. I can.. give you a few options. It's your armor. Your bod. Healing factor or not, getting hurt sucks." He turns and taps on the screen to pull up a program. "I custom my own armor. If you want, I can improve this plate if that's all you want. Or we can go the route of creating you new composite armor that fits your own preferences. It'll stop up to a .460 Magnum before things really start to be an issue."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
"Oh!" Gabby's attention snaps back toward Jason when he speaks about the Outsiders, and helping her out. She actually smiles at that giving a little shake of her head at the assumption. "No, it wasn't the Outsiders doing that to me," she explains as she steps over toward the CNC machine beside him. "They're the ones that kind of saved me from washing my hands of this whole thing to begin with. I mean, the heroing thing. Vigilante thing? Whatever you want to call it. I was at a school that... well they had a team but kept going on about child soldiers this, and child soldiers that. Tim and the Outsiders recognized that I actually know what I'm doing and worked with me."

Turning her atteniton to the machine she looks it over while considering options. "Yeah. I know I've got a healing factor but when I was trained, they thought I was human. I'm still surprised most of my relatives don't do body armor. It's so much easier to avoid getting hurt to begin with." Grinning she gives him a once over. "I can see why you'd need custom. Lots of guns there." More seriously she looks back to the machine again. "Probably should get my measurements taken again. I have grown a bit since I was last properly fitted."

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason Todd shakes his head, "I didn't think they were. Anyway, like you said, it's over with. What matters is now. I'm glad you've found a way that works for you. It can be hard." There is more he could delve into but in a show of maturity? Picking his battles? Whatever it may be, he lets the topic fade.

"Yeah. In this day and age no armor is just.. not good. Every week some new tech comes out to make what we do more deadly." He turns and taps on the interface. "Okay. I can do that." He glances over, "The 3D scanner.." a nod to the side of the machine. "So I take the high road and not offer to help you get undressed and I won't even sit facing that direction.." he adds with a grin. "But really the less it needs to san through the better fit it's going to give you. Just.. let me know when to push the little green button to start the scanning."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
"Perv," Gabby teases gently in return for that remark. She's already heading over to the 3D scanner portion though while reaching down to pull her shirt off over her head. It's halfway off, with her back to him, when she informs, "I've got a sports bra on. And I'll keep that on for the scan. Things don't sit right otherwise." At least she didn't have some of the problems someone like Powergirl would have.

Glancing over her shoulder at him she flashes a grin. "Tell me where I need to stand, if I need to turn, whatever. You know how to run this machine, not me."

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason Todd raises his hand, "Right here. Yup." He looks unapologetic. Still he doesn't leer. "There's a mark in the center of the platform. Think of it like a TSU airport scanner. Feet on the marks, stand arms to the side, hands raised over your head." He's focused on setting up the scanner on the display rather than letching off her current status. "Okay. Stand still. It'll take about thirty seconds to finish." Tapping the button, a moving arm extends and begins to slowly trace a circle around Gabby as the laser takes the measurements.

"Alright. We're done. It's pulling the scans in now." He laughs wickedly "and now I have a full scan of you.." the implications could be concerning giving the grin and glint in his eyes. Giving her trouble and teasing her seems to be his new pasttime.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney does as requested. Arms to the side, arms above her head. It's only when the scanner arm is halfway done that she remarks, "You know I never have been in an airport. Legally." It was an interesting thought to realize at least. Usually she knew people who had their own ships or planes. An airport just didn't seem to be necessary most of the time.

Once done she turns to hop down off the platform stuffing her arms back into the holes of her shirt. An eyebrow lifts at his mock laughter. "If you make a Real Doll of me, I..." She pauses to consiider, then tugs the shirt on properly again. "I might want one myself. Decoys are always good."

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason Todd bursts into laughter about the Real Doll and a copy. "I'm a pervert not a fucking creep Gab. I was just going to make my own Honey Badger action figure. The worst part of most figures is the faces look like a blindfolded person drew a smiley face then painted it." He chuckles again. "But if you want a buddy for your bed, I could make one." Another laugh.

Then he's looking at the scans. "You're not missing anything avoiding airports. They smell. They're hot. Stuffy. Full of stress and anxiety. And screaming kids."

"So. You want it to look like the armor you have? It'll be made out of composite layers. Far more flexible but stronger. I'd offer some stylish design but.. you've seen how I dress. Function and form over style."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
"Bed nothing. That'd be perfect for the carpool lane," Gabby shoots back still grinning in amusement over it. She really does start laughing along after a moment with a shake of her head. "Okay you got me on the action figure one. I wouldn't have expected that. Maybe from Tim. He likes collecting things."

"Oh hell yeah show me," she urges while stepping up beside Jason to lean her hands on the sides of the machine. Just lightly, careful not to touch any controls, because she did know better than that. "I mean. My family tends to go for bold colors and stripes. Or Goth clothes. Emo?" That really does cause her to pause. "Eh. Dark stuff."

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason Todd smirks. "I like action figures. I'm a guy. We all like them. Except Batman. He was born dark and angsty. Not a kid like cell in his body."

He moves enough to show her the display. "There you go in all your digital three foot tall hobbit glory.." he just isn't stopping with the teasing. It isn't mean spirited, but anyone can go too far.

"So.. I can give it contouring. Not going to leave a lot to imagination. I can make it more like plate amror where your silhouette isn't as, well, feminine. Probably the better approach for proper armor. But you've seen the Bat Girls and all. Sleeves? Sleeveless? Want armored leggings too?"

Gabby Kinney has posed:
"I'm more functional and slim silouhette than needing to show off my cleavage. YES," she emphasizes turning her head toward him to give a mock glower before he can even think to tease her on that. "I do have cleavage so don't start." She really can't argue the short part much. Though she wasn't quite THAT short. Any more.

"Armored leggings would be great. My second suit has them and boy that's just a huge bonus. I should show you that one sometime. Black and white. Kind of the team theme." Rather than go into further detail she clears her throat slightly, and shifts her weight to the side to bump her hip into his. "Longer sleeves, I like full body coverage while fighting. I've already got my face mask set up so I'm good there."

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason Todd chuckles. "I would never body shame you, Gabs." Tapping at the display, he sets the armor to begin shaping according to her wishes. "Sure. More armor is always better than less. As long as it doesn't cost mobility when that's your thing." He looks up at her with a half smile and nudges her back with his elbow. "OKay. So something like this?" The proposed design comes on the display. There are indicated areas with additional protection and for mobility the joints have a suitable layer of protection but still giving her freedom of movement.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
"All right then, Giagantor." If he's gonna call her short she'll call him tall. It didn't have quite the same effect though. Gabby regards the screen and design there thoughtfuly, her eyes roaming over every detail that it displays. "That looks good," she agrees. "It covers all vital areas, and doesn't seem as if it'd hinder my movement any. I'm small, I'm quick, I need all the advantages I can get working against guys twice my size."
