Synopsis: Gabby gets a call on the JLD hotline (they had one?) about a new recruit. Padraigh, Gabby and Megan meet over coffee and cinnamon buns. The JLD recruits a new member.
Cast of Characters: Gabby Kinney, Padraigh O'Malley, Megan Gwynn

Gabby Kinney has posed:
The thing about magic calling cards is that the call always seems to go through to whoever is going to be able to best handle it. At least that was presumed to be how they would work. The JLD had three leaders after all--Unfortunately all of them had buggered off to other dimensions for their own reasons as of late leaving only one person with all the information that ALL of them had left.

It was not a call Gabby was expecting to get.

After a breif explanation from the caller she slipped into old habits of picking up the slack where needed and set a time and place to meet to chat. Given there was no current 'real world' meeting place for the JLD she picked somewhere that seemed... suitable... while also ensuring she could get a caffiene fix; Harold's Oddities and Coffee.

It's here she's currently at with a mug of coffee still steaming in hand, topped with far too much in the way of whipped cream, while she stares up at one of the museum-y exhibits of some old side show acts that she could already tell were either malformations or outright mutations. The coffee is raised to sip at while she reads over the newspaper clipping behind glass keeping an ear out for the Irishman to arrive.

Of course, would he even recognize her as the one on the phone? She was young to say the least, and often mistaken as younger than she was. Maybe the setting along with her raven hair, scarred face, and pseudo-goth-like clothing of pleather pants, boots, and a hoodie might indicate her association though. Either that or someone could just mistake her for a goth in general.

Padraigh O'Malley has posed:
Padraigh O'Malley walks in adjusting his long black leather duster over the black suit with red tie his hair in that nice braid right down his back. Approaching the counter he sighs briefly as he rubs his eyes. "Triple shot o' espresso in a mocha Latte yea?" He calls to the person behind the counter placing some bills down. "Aye this is a unique place innit?" He asks though is he talking to himself maybe someone else anyone's guess really and truly.

The Irishman's eyes scan the crowd and land on the young Goth girl brows raising as he leans to his left. "Nah mate yer barkin' lad tha' cannae be her, can i' I mean she's so....young....yea?" He takes his mug and heads over to Gabby. "Oi, ye' be the Lass I spoke witt on da phone yea?" Than he glances to his left again. "Oi boyo I'll introduce meself after I be findin' ou' iffin she be who we're lookin fer alright?"

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney tips her head to the side catching the conversation from the other room over. There were no actual walls dividing things after all, just a further distance into the room and a distinct line where 'coffee shop' ended and the curio began if only due to decor and floor space being replaced by cabinets of things.

Turning on her heel she cups her elbow in one hand while the other holds up her coffee mug to take a sip while her green eyes sweep over the taller figure in front of her. It's lowered again, pausing just a moment to take a quick lick at her lips getting whipped cream off so she doesn't look a mess, and she grins. "Yep, that's me. Sorry, I know I'm not exactly an impressive presence," she offers while her eyes dip to the side that Paddy had been speaking to.

Immediately after glancing that direction her eyes drop down to regard a necklace she wears. It doesn't seem to do anything--Which is why she follows up with, "Got a friend with you?" It's not accusatory or even suspicious, just an honest question. She barely even waits for the answer before adding in, "Oh, I'm Gabrielle Kinney. Gabby to pretty much everyone."

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn had kept in touch with Paddy after their last meeting, still eager to see the cursed helmet for herself..But it seems he took her advice and contacted JLD directly. Megs wasn't privy to all the inner workings of the three heads! or the fact that they were currently scattered, leaving Gabby in charge.

All the same, she arrives at the coffee shop, peering around as she waits in line, eager to order a sweet treat and too much coffee for the hyper faerie that she is. Those bright colorful wings are no longer hidden, spread over her back like a colorful pink-violet cape, dressed in a pair of jeans and a bright blue band shirt with 'Dazzler! ' scribbled across the front.

Padraigh O'Malley has posed:
Padraigh O'Malley glances to Aiden and nods. "Aye Aiden, he be a spirit of one who passed on long ago. Servent to me Da and passed on to me ta serve me fer eternity." He shrugs. "He's a good Lad though always helpful more like a friend ta be hones'. I'm Padraigh O'Malley, most folks call me Paddy though." He sips the coffee and takes a seat his duster pulling open revealing a wolf pommeled long sword and a dragon pommeled dagger.

"I been workin' with one o' yer people, on a cursed helmet issue ya know?" He asks. "Anyway she suggested I get in with ye folks as I too battle the ghosts, ghouls, demons and monsters tha' be goin' bump in da night. And another bloke...John Constantine he said 'is name was, gave me this." With that Paddy slides over the JLD Card to Gabby.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney takes it all in stride easily accepting the fact of a ghostly person there she personally couldn't see. "Ah, okay, ghost. I was wondering. Didn't set my necklace off," she explains with a little tap to the wire-wrapped stone around her neck. "Magic detector. I'm not as sensitive as others so it's come in handy a few times."

She's just about to sit down herself to join him when the flash of color that is Pixie catches her eye. Both eyebrows raise a bit as she puts two and two together. "That person wouldn't happen to be Megan would it?" She sinks down into her chair leaning forward a bit so the conversation doesn't necessarily travel too far to other ears. When the card is offered over she reaches to take it looking marginally confused. At least until the name of who gave it is stated. "Ah! I know of him. Never met him myself, but I know of him." Boy did she.

Grinning faintly she looks back up. "Megan isn't really 'my people' in that way, uh. I'll have to explain and apologize for things." Lifting her hand she waves, and calls out, "Meg get over here!"

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn orders a giant cinnamon bun complete with a double dosing of icing and a cherry on top and extra cinnamon, because cmon, it takes extra energy to maintain those wings! Finally she turns around and grins and waves at Gabby and Paddy. "Heeey! I student know you were here too, Gabbers! What's up?" she nods to Paddy, taking a big bite of her bun. Mmmmmm..."How's it going, Paddy? Didja bring the helmet?"

Padraigh O'Malley has posed:
Padraigh O'Malley chuckles. "I ain't brinigin' somethin' so powerful dark an' evil ou' to a coffee shop Megan." He says politely with a smile. "I's goin' well an' ye?" He than looks to Gabby. "Aye she be's who I'm workin' wi'h on dis."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney flashes a grin toward Megan when she joins them. The giant cinnamon roll with a cherry on top (on a cinnamon roll?) is regarded skeptically a long moment as she lets her mind wander over various topics. "Okay, well. Haunted items are good to know about, definitely. I get why you didn't mention it before though, Megan, what with everything going on." A deep breath is taken looking up between the pair again. "Which is resolved now. Hopefully for good this time."

"Well. Okay. I guess I've got a bit of explaining to do here myself." Fingers tap to the table as she pokes the surface with a fingernail. "The JLD is associated with the Justice League, but we're kind of the spooky side of things. Honestly, I've never really seen that connection come into play yet though it's there. That said... We *were* run by Jonathan Sims, Chas Chandler, and my older sister, Rien D'Arqueness."

It's here she glances at Megan. "You probably already know Jon stepped down to go explore another dimension. I get that. He was burning out pretty hard. What you don't know..." Here she tips her head with eyebrows raising as she draws another deep breath.

"Apparently Rien and Chas have realized they have something brewing between them and so they've gone off to the tower in the astral plane to explore their feelings and figure out where to go from there."

"So. Uh. We currently don't have any of our original leadership." Gabby purses her lips together here. "When you called that JLD number it routed to my phone," she explains to Paddy, "Probably because I at least knew about the current situation. Given that situation though I'm taking it on myself to try and keep things running. I've got the experience, and I know how to organize things and admit when I need help--Which, no offense Megan, but you magic sorts seem to LOVE to try and run off and take care of everything by yourselves which isn't great for teamwork."

An apologetic look is turned back to Paddy. "I apologize you're coming in at such an awkward time. Seems you're already doing exactly what the JLD is supposed to be doing though, and Megan knows you, so I see no reason not to bring you in---If you're okay with things as they stand."

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn pouts a bit at Paddy, "Sooo dramatic." she takes another bite out of her sticky cinnamon roll as she flops down to listen to Gabby's speech, and tries not to get distracted wuth sticky fingers. "Umm..Wait, Chas and Rien? I thought they were both dating other people.." boy is she ever out of the loop!

To Gabby she sighs dramatically, "I mean I wasn't totally alone, Monet and Tabby and Daniel Ketch were with me, and they did an awesome job..thankfully Padders was also there to help out."

Did she just call him Padders? yes, yes she did..The nerve!

Padraigh O'Malley has posed:
Padraigh O'Malley laughs and nods his head a bit in thought. "Aye I'm alroight with it if yer ok with a hard drinkin' smokin' brawlin' Oirish Son of a Bitch, who can bring shite back from da dead, and is the son of a Death God bein on yer team, than I be game. Oh an' in da field Oi be called Soul Reaper." He chuckles and shrugs. "Bu' yes we magic sorts be a wee bit head strong, gung ho bad ass lone wolves, bu' we can also be good leaders, an' tha's wha' I be lookin' ta do you know? Get in, help people learn an' grow an' keepem outta me way in the field."

"Padders? Well Oi be guessin' I can deal with tha'. An' ye' were indeed alone, iffin ya'll were spli' up, loike tha' it took one other gettin' lucky to keep ye' from gettin' hurt worse."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney reaches up to dig her fingers into her eyes grimacing a little bit. "Chas wasn't that I'm aware of, but Rien was dating Robbie. They broke up about a month ago. All I can say is I'm sorry my sister's love life is a soap opera." Dropping her hand away she instead reaches out to give Megan's wrist a little consoling pat. "Nah, you're one of the better ones in that regard. Rien though, she tried to isolate herself and handle the god thing solo, which is part of how this all got so bad. And Jon too, with Cael and... Yeah. I keep seeing the pattern repeat. It's not healthy, everyone thinking things are their fault and that no one else can help them deal with it."

Looking back to Paddy she grins easily at the explanation. "Sure! My dad's a hard drinking, fighting, short son of a bitch with anger issues so I'm pretty chill about the whole thing. As for the dead thing, I come back from the dead like a few times a month. I can't really complain if others do too." She pauses to add, "I also have Hanako-chan to look after. I bought a haunted doll off Ebay and she really IS haunted," she explains.

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn sighs, "Geez, all of them taking off just when we need proper leadership..I mean, I dunno what I'd do if they weren't there to help me out when I was being influenced by that a ancient god.." she blinks, "Wait, what about those gods and their evil plans for us? Can we manage them on our own? I barely managed the last time.."

She glances at Paddy, "Even if I find Necromancy kinda creepy, we could really use up your help.."she's thinking again about something, looking troubled, how very quickly she goes from hyper to emo.

Padraigh O'Malley has posed:
Padraigh O'Malley looks to Megan. "Who you callin' creepy Lass, I'm an all powerful demi God o' Death. I ain't creepy I promise ye' an' iffin yer all needin' me help. I'll gladly join up and help ye'." He says before turning and looking at Gabby now. "Sounds like yer dad an' me would get on fine then. Listen though an' I'm bein' fer real here. My gifts like with all magic have a price. So lets no' be havin' me raise da dead all willy nilly like yea?"

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney shakes her head at Megan's question. "That last battle pushed them back and sealed the rift that was allowing them through. I think that's also part of why Chas and Rien are holing up in the tower, since that was the proverbial chess piece that they kept struggling to get. With them there we've at least got forewarning if something tries to come through again. All that's left at this point is the damage they did while they were here."

A grin is flashed toward Paddy at his response, only to chuckle. "Probably. He just doesn't like crowds. Who knows where he's at currently though." It's the warning which causes her to nod solemnly as she holds her hands up open palmed. "No intention of doing so. Honestly I'd be more interested in if you can help put things to rest if needed. So far as me 'coming back from the dead,', I'm a mutant like Megan. I have a healing factor. So I've technically died a few times before it kicked in... Met Mistress Death a few times, even... but that's just me, no magic involved." With that reassurance given she reaches out to offer her hand to him. "Glad to have you then, Paddy. Our current headquarters is in the astral plane so I'll get you a key for it. Though, I'm thinking maybe a physical world area might not be bad too."

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn grimaces, "Merp, I mean it in the most, Err..Respectful sense?" she laughs nervously, "I mean, I'm sure you know what you're doing and won't handle such magic irresponsibly..I don't think I could do that.."

Peering back at Gabby she shivers a bit, "Wait, met Mistress Death? That's just creepy.." so is the whole, practically invincible thing she's got going on. "I mean Jon, Rien and Chas are basically godlike now. That must be frightening, I'd understand ap needing a vacation, although.."

She sighs, "Okay, so they've been holed up in that place, trying to secure the tower? So there's no more threat? No more..Surprises waiting for us when they take off on their little vacation..?"

Padraigh O'Malley has posed:
Padraigh O'Malley chuckles and nods his head. "I get the healin' thin' due to me Da I age slowly because my cells constantly regenerate. Also allowing me to heal faster and Im immune to most diseases. So I understand whatcha mean. As fer puttin' thin's ta rest aye I can do tha' too. I can also mimick appearances of folks Oive seen, clone meself, see into the land of the dead, thin's like tha' I'm divine so mine ain't a mutation in the same sense as yers is but it was inherited."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney allows herself a little smile, kind of sad but also peaceful almost. It's Megan's question that causes her to nod a single time. "A few times. I kept dying repeatedly in one day because of ... anyway. She got annoyed and came to see what was up. We talked a bit. Nice lady, actually, and it's nice to know who's going to be there when I finally do bite the big one permanently." It was an odd sort of peace to be feeling but one she'd already come to terms with. "I haven't mentioned it to many people though because of not wanting to freak them out."

Lightly clearing her throat she nods again turning her thoughts back to the more important matters at hand. "No more threat. I can't say there won't be other threats, but not from that angle. I may reach out to a few people to do a sweep and double check though." Never hurt to consult with others.

"Yeah, I'm going to stop aging sometime in my twenties for *quite* awhile if my family history is any indication. I'm only eighteen right now," she explains going serious once again. "But I've had tactical and combat training literally all my life. I know I've got a lot to learn about mystical matters, though. I do intend to ask questions when needed. No one person can be expected to know everything and I realize that."

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn sighs, looking between the two of them. "Heh, all you immortal types make it seem so easy, I guess death is nothing to you...I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but..Eh.." she shrugs, arching a brow at Gabby and shivers, "Geez, that's awful..I can't imagine being repeatedly.." Ugh, no rather not think about it. She goes back to focusing on her sweet bun. "I'm also still learning about magic, but it seems every time I find a new tutor, they up and leave on me.."

Padraigh O'Malley has posed:
Padraigh O'Malley laughs. "Alrigh' so Ill teach ye' both wha' I can abou' the mystical arts though in truth mine are dark and morbid. But the principles an' theories all work ou' the same. Aye I've met death too a lot, most call him Arawn I call him Da." He laughs loudly at his own joke. "But in all honesty, nothin' ta be fearin' in death, i's jus' the next great adventure in our Journey. And as I've been there o'er and over again there is an after life."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney smiles wistfully at Megan only to shake her head. "Rien, you know her. Did you know she's like eighty years old?" Given her 'older sister' looked more like she was twenty five at best, that was pretty decent. "I've had death involved in my life in one way or another for too long. I've lost eight sisters, Megan. Eight. It was actually really, really reassuring to know they weren't alone after..." It's here she pauses as her eyes well up with tears which she quickly reaches up to swipe away.

"Sorry. I'm fine. That really did help a lot though. Okay!" Her hands clap together, and she reaches down into her pocket to withdraw a blue key which she slides over to Paddy. "Welcome to the JLD, Paddy."

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn's eyes widen at Gabby's admission, reaching out to squeeze her hand reassuringly. Compared to powerful godlike people like Rien, Chas and Jon..And immortals who can die and be reborn repeatedly, Megan is little more than an annoying gnat, but.."I'm sorry, I can't I,aging what you're going through, but I don't mind lending an ear if you need it..We're all here for you."

To Paddy she nods and smiles, "Really? I'd appreciate it. I mean, my magic is all chaos and chicanery as a faerie but I've never had a stable tutor or a willing one before.."

Padraigh O'Malley has posed:
Padraigh O'Malley smiles and nods to her. "Aye Megan, Ill learn ye' good an' right. The Fae folk are near and dear to the hearts o' the Oirish." Then he looks to Gabby and offers his hand after taking the key. "Aye, thank ye' Gabby and I be lookin' forward to workin' with ye' lass. Some day soon we'll talk more abou' families and loss, I'm sure we have more in common then ye' think." He says with a smirk before standing up and offering his own card to both of them his name and call sign on it along with his number.
