Recruiting the Godling.
Date of Scene: 15 September 2022
Location: Athletics: Triskelion
Synopsis: Daisy meets up with Alexander to look on his progression as a recruit and ask him about joining the Secret Warriors.
Cast of Characters: Alexander Aaron, Daisy Johnson

Alexander Aaron has posed:
In the gymnasium down in the depths of the Triskelion the sounds of hectic activity can be heard at all hours of the night and day. The twenty-four hour operations of the international organization allows teams to rotate in and out, scheduling training sessions and testing for the myriad of teams that run the gamut from technical to infiltration.
It's not often that there are free hours, but sometimes when there are the rookies of the squad training program are encouraged to make use of them. It's not required. But if it's not taken advantage of? Very very frowned upon.
Which might explain why Class 33B of SHIELD Operational Teams and Tactics are taking this time in the late hours of the evening to compare notes, run through a few scenarios, and get to know each other better. Which includes one of the newer recruits. Alexander Aaron.
"It's hard to explain, way easier to show." The blond youth in the combat garb says as he gestures to the side in front of the four other cadets. "Sort of like a reverse judo throw. You use it when you gotta get someone up off the ground in the middle of a crisis situation."
Dickerson, the tallest of the crew made a face as he folded his arms. "These sessions are meant for us to perfect what we've been shown, Aaron. Not learn new crazy shit."
"Yeah, man. I know. Just it's a good thing to know. Better to have an arrow in your quiver and not need it than the alternative, right?"

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"So, what is your assessment so far..?" Daisy is standing behind the glass that gives them a view of the recruits in training, running through the exercises. She had of course known that Alexander had reached out to SHIELD. Wanting to become an actual recruit instead of the asset of the past. It was a next step and it didn't surprise her that much considering what she had heard about him working more closely with other SHIELD members like Jessica Drew.

Next to her is one of the training supervisors, Agent Blake. "Hard to say so far. He has potential, that much is evident. But he isn't exactly like the rest of them so he never really seems to fit." A nod from Daisy. Yes, she knew what Blake meant. She had seen the same back in Happy Harbor.

"Well, let's see what they got."

Alexander Aaron has posed:
The other four cadets had their files there available, Dickerson was a traditional operative that hit the markers recruiters looked for. Military background, officer training, intelligence focus. Not many tours and still very young, but he was on that crux of his career where what he chose would define the rest of his life. So far he had chosen SHIELD.
O'Hara came from the other end of the field, law enforcement that runs in the family and heavy training in urban operations. She was just as gung ho as the others though in the recent exercises had fallen into a leadership role at points and the others seemed to support her when the missions got tense.
Mumford and Tucker? International transfers from Interpol who had worked together and been partners in the past, almost like they came as a package deal. The two young men spent a good chunk of their time together, but it wasn't necessarily out of friendship. There was strong rivalry there.
And Aaron? He kept a low profile. His scores were almost always in the median range. Precisely so. A good shot, but not too good. Ran the hand to hand trials but never made it past the last opponent. Though he did seem to not exactly fit the format of the others, they got along. He had... a charisma that was difficult to pin down in some ways.
Which is why the hard-asses on the team with him were actually listening to him.
"Mummers, you mind lying on the mats and like imagine you have a leg injury?"
Mumford to his credit moved over and got into position while his friend Tucker smirked as he offered in his English accent, "Not a difficult thing for you, 'ey mate? Ya malingering git."
Which earned a rude gesture from Mumford.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"You have seen the scores, I gather." Agent Blake says back to Daisy. There's a nod, followed by a grunt. Yes, she had seen them. A smirk as she goes over them again. And she knew well what Aaron was trying to pull here. Or rather, she knew and she didn't.

Why now? Why SHIELD? But she could certainly understand why his marks were on the median range. He did not want to become an asset like he had been. A killer. Maybe it was time for a new chapter.

And maybe a chapter Daisy could provide.

"I will want to have a word with Aaron." This to Blake. "He may have a spot in another team."

"I heard through the grapevine Fury had assigned you to a different team..." Blake says with a small nod. "He's still a recruit though."

"That won't be a problem."

Alexander Aaron has posed:
Inside the gymnasium the team are unaware of the observation, just the five of them in the large hall it was enough to lend some subtle feeling of isolation, being so small in a large large room. Yet all of them knew that the Triskelion wasn't exactly unmonitored. Yet still there was some measure of informality between the team, albeit good-natured.
"So in slow motion," Aaron steps onto the mats, the material compressing under his feet as he motions with both hands. "You wanna line up with their feet or head. You come in quick,"
The young Olympian moves and eases through the motions with a calm precision, "Plant your shoulder as you hit the ground, roll onto their chest with your back, /hook/ the leg, _guide_ the head..."
And then with a sudden burst of speed he rolls to his feet with a grunt as he hefts Mumford onto his shoulders with a clean twist of motion and suddenly he's got the man in a fireman carry. "Like a Kata Guruma, but in reverse... then carry them and move them out of the..." A small grimace, "Oof, man Mumford you're heavy."
"Screw you, boyo." Mumford comments as he grimaces and shifts in the awkward grip.
But then he sets his partner down and Alexander half-grins. "So ok, full speed now, and then we'll take turns trying it, cool?"
And with that the small team gathers around and they pair up with Alexander giving tips. It takes a good bit of time before they're comfortable with the technique, at one point O'Hara asking, "Where'd you get this, Aaron?"
"It's an air rescue technique thing. My dad was in the military." Which... technically, was true.
Though they spent a good half hour working on it, perfecting it, until each was able to go through the movement clean and quick. It all ended with some grins, some slapping on the backs of one and another. The others left and of course they left Alexander there to clean up as he started to gather up the gear and push the mats back into place. Still, his lip curved up a little in amusement. Was nice to be around people.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Yea, if the military was leading freaking armies as being Ares, God of War. It has Daisy smirk from behind the panel though, watching it all unfold, arms crossed against her chest. She watches the training, the motions. The trying to 'blend in'. Yea, just like in Happy Harbor.

Steps are heard approaching, perhaps familiar even if it's been a long time since they have been in such a position. The recruit/student and the Agent/teacher. "Hello, Alexander."

Daisy is dressed in a full SHIELD uniform. Black and blue that fits to her body. The markings of her station on her shoulders. Hair is unbound, loose and tumbling down her front and then the middle of her back.

"Good training drill." implying she was watching it all along.

Alexander Aaron has posed:
The last of the mats fwumpf into place as he pushes it back against the wall where it's stored with other padded gear in a metal storage bin. He straightens up and closes the door, then turns...
"Agent Johnson." The young man's own 'uniform' is more the training gear that they're given. It still follows the same lines, similar insignia but with that lack of rank and not quite as well fitting.
She mentions the training drill and it causes him to lift his head just a little, subtle tell that he didn't know she was watching. Yet he covers it by turning that lift into a small nod as he agrees then murmurs, "They're good people." A look toward the door beyond and behind Daisy, then he smiles a little before looking back.
"They'll be a good squad. I think." He tilts his head a little and his lips part slightly. But he says nothing more.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"And will become good Agents too." At least from what Daisy had seen from the files. Of course that there was more than just what was in a file. Daisy knew it well. As after all her own entrance to SHIELD had been .., unorthodox to say the least. Hacker first fighting against SHIELD to asset, to Agent. To hero? She wasn't that sure on that part just yet. A faint smirk of amusement comes to her expression as she perhaps imagines what her file first looked like before.

Certainly not great at all compared to what she had read on these recruits.

"I notice how you said 'they' will be a good squad. Not thinking you are part of that squad?" she asks, then a gesture for him to walk with her if he so wishes.

"Come on, let's talk a bit, been a while."

Alexander Aaron has posed:
She mentions how they'll become good, and he nods in agreement, his eyes looking off in the direction they left. Then he looked back at her and when she picked out that subtle difference in his word choice he sort of half-smiled a little. And there was that hint of cockiness she had known, those few times he let it show. Though at times she likely knew he played it up as if to fit a role the world perceived for him. Or a role that was... expected.
"Well I'll be great, of course. That's a given." Despite his scores being... middling.
He nods at the offer of a walk and a talk, stepping quickly toward the wall to sign out the departure and close of his squad's training schedule for the day, letting the data ops know the training venue is free. Then he moves back toward her and falls into step with an easy gait.
"Everything alright?" He asks, just that slight lilt at the end indicating a hint of curiousity.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Not according to your scores, median Alex." Is the response Alexander gets to that cockiness. Daisy does smile at him though. Yes, that was the Alexander she knew. The role he tried to fit, the way he tried to do what was expected of him.

"But you should know our instructors have a way of seeing past that." Had Daisy let them in on who Alexander truly was? Maybe not. But there those who would know in SHIELD. He had been part of them after all. An asset in the past.

"They are well enough, but I am not here to talk about the weather or small talk." A wink back at him and she starts walking along Alexander, out through the corridors leading from athletics.

"It probably won't surprise you that I have been put in charge of a squad." this to Alex, "One where I feel you wouldn't need to ..., put up a show. People that are more like us."

Alexander Aaron has posed:
She mentions those scores and he makes a little bit of a face, "No idea what you're talking about." He replies, and he always has had a good poker face, yet she'd keyed onto it ages before. So it was more a small dance between them, her saying she knew, him pretending he didn't understand, though they both knew exactly what was meant.
Then she mentions not wanting to talk about the weather so he nods again. The idea of a squad being run by her has his eyebrows climbing slightly as he looks at her sidelong, making a small sound like a 'hnh' of acceptance that brings another nod.
"Oh?" He moves along that long corridor that leads away from the Athletics department, "How so?" He asks.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Don't try to swindle a swindler, Alex." Is what Daisy replies. If anything he should know well that Daisy hadn't followed that traditional SHIELD training. She had been an enemy first before becoming an ally. "I know what you are doing..." this still about the tests. And maybe about the rest.

"A group has been formed within SHIELD. Of people like me, like us.." she gesturing to Alex, "Powered, either by their heritage, their blood.." another gesture, "It operates off the books, still belonging to shield but not fully. It needs their independence for the threats we must face. And those we must protect. A group meant to handle those threats that many of our Agents aren't prepared to deal with ..." a meaningful look towards the exit where the rest of Alex's squad left towards.

She looks back at him and finally says. "And I wanted you to join us."

Alexander Aaron has posed:
"If you're heading it?" Alexander says as he walks with her, though there's a hint of hesitance as he casually looks at her, using that gesture to gauge ahead and behind them as if there might be eavesdroppers. Instinctive if not really effective considering the tech available in the Triskelion.
"Of course I'll join." Then his head lifts a little, "Should be no problem, unless if something about it conflicts with a prior oath. That's the only hurdle I could imagine." Though what those oaths might be is unclear until he murmurs...
"If a mission involves my family in some manner another pantheon is the only way I could see it becoming an issue." Which might be a small difficulty, but he is trying to be up front about it.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Woah, thanks for the vote of confidence." Daisy lets out a laugh at that hesitance that Alexander takes between the question and accepting it. Not that she seems to doubt herself. Those times were long gone! She had a mission to accomplish after all. She does grin at the young man when he accepts though. "Good. I gather you will take Phobos as a code name?" she inquires. "Or do you prefer something else?" a beat. "We all do codenames.." she explains. Which perhaps explains on the 'why' they are secret.

Sort of like a super-hero group.

"I understand."This about his oaths. "And I know you have those, we all have a connection to somewhere. Our family, our past." she lifts her shoulders in a shrug. "But this group exists to protect them, not to fight them. I do not envision it being a difficulty." a chuckle. "Or well, not too much a difficulty. I know how complex your family can be."

Alexander Aaron has posed:
His head bobs again as he accepts that choice and waves off the suggestion of something else. If they're going to be doing things with people who have abilities, best to be up front about it. And get all the questions or problems out first then get ahead of them.
"Mainly my father, and through him to his." Which brings a whole snaggle of difficulty if Zeus has an agreement or an alliance with another pantheon.
But he half-smiles a little, "Is this something that will take all of my time, or should I continue through the academy training as well?" A glance is given back the way they came and for a brief moment there's a hint of reluctance to leave that squad... his squad behind.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"You will." There's a smirk out of Daisy. "Or do you think you could skip recruit, soldier?" she continues walking with him, arms folded together, "I never went through the kind of recruitment you are going. Well, it was similar but also different. But those people you first meet here eventually become friends for life." like so many had. Fitz, Jemma, May. Arguably Ward. And others.

"Or not." She says, "This team is secret though so I will ask you not to share it with others. And you will find some familiar faces there." a faint grin.

"We will talk later for more details. For now go meet up with your squad."
