Location: Central Park, NY
Synopsis: Thor Girl and Caitlin Fairchild stop a monster.
Cast of Characters: M'gann M'orzz, Caitlin Fairchild

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
It is a truism that other dimensional monsters rarely have any respect at all for beautiful days or perfect picnic weather. Today happens to be just such a day and the picturesque picnic area of Central Park is full of families enjoying an early afternoon meal and soaking in the lingering warmth as the hot Summer days transition to cooler Autumn ones.

Heroes great and small have kept the peace such that this idyllic peaceful scene is possible. Many battles have been fought in Central Park in the past and a lot of money and effort has gone into fixing it up again each time, so that it looks as if nothing had ever occurred and people can cling to at least an illusion of comfort.

Not all such damage is so easy to fix though. Beneath a grassy hillock, buried under the ground, is a piece of the remains of a time the park itself seemed to come alive at the behest of a strange sorcerous creature from beyond. A tear in the fabric of the dimensional boundary, long forgotten, It spars and crackles with mystical energy from beyond down beneath the soil.

As oblivious picnickers enjoy their meals nearby, a muscled hairy arm reaches through, clawing at the dirt, flailing around as it attempts to dig its way through. The tear widens and the arm is followed by a shoulder and then a head, a brutish savage looking head covered in scales and sporting lizard like eyes and snout, and large tusk-like teeth.

Grass and dirt suddenly erupt in all directions as the twelve foot tall monstrosity bursts through and erupts from the hillock. Leathery wings unfurl and a powerful tail lashes back and forth as what looks like some sort of humanoid dragon begins sizing up the picnickers that will likely become its prey in a matter of moments.

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
Caitlin Fairchild has pretty good hearing; even from halfway across the Park, the sounds of ripping earth and terrified screams are pretty easy for her to discern. The brawny redhead immediately starts towards the altercation. She ties off her backpack and throws it up into a sturdy tree nearby for safekeeping, along with her pink Columbia hoodie.

With a clear line of sight for the monster, Caitlin scoops up a paving stone smoothly and checks the balance in her hand. A skitter step brings her to a near-immediate halt, and she flings the heavy stone like a fastball at the monster's head.

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
There are indeed screams, many many screams as picnickers attempt to from the sudden emergence of a clearly very dangerous monster. Some might be questioning their life choices, but it's not like New York is unique when it comes to monster attacks.

The creature is about to lunge for a nearby family when a paving stone frisbee shatters against its face. Its hard almost metallic looking scales seem to protect it from the impact but there is definitely a moment disoriented surprise at an object suddenly impacting its cranium at high velocity. What the stone fastball does do though, is put the twelve foot tall draconic monstrosity's attention squarely on Caitlin, rather than the fleeing families.

It would seem Caitlin is not the only one who noticed the monster's emergence however. There is a streak of color up in the sky as a mighty hammer flies down to impact the ground in front of the creature, creating it's own minor explosion of dirt and grass bringing the monster up short and hovering in the sky above is what looks like a silhouette of someone in Asgardian armor.

One might be forgiven if they thought Thor had just arrived, or perhaps Lady Sif, after all that silhouette does look on the feminine side. But on closer look that hammer sticking out of the ground is not Mjollnir, it's not even a throwing hammer. It looks like a sledgehammer, the kind you'd find at Home Depot. And then the figure speaks. "Halt creature! Thou art trespassing-eth! Turn-eth around and return-eth or face mine hammer-eth!" It sounds like whoever it is either choking on a Shakespearian English Dictionary or perhaps heard an Asgardian speak once and is doing their best (bad) impression of one. For her part M'gann aka Thor Girl thinks the talking part is going great.

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
Caitlin's good at spotting little details. She skids to a halt when someone hurls a *workhammer* at the beastie. It's a good ten pounds of Detroit steel, sure, but Very Obviously not a proper weapon of war.

She does lose a half a beat gawking at the new arrival. Her mental gears start churning: Definitely not an Asgardian. Even if she was nailing their manner of speech, its' not the All-Speak, and Caitlins' senses confirm it.

When the monster looks up at M'gann, Caitlin rushes forward and launches a flying knee-strike at the dragon's jaw, grabbing a handful of scales to give the blindside hit a little extra oomph.

"Stop talkin' to them, and kick his keister!" Caitlin calls up to M'gann with a reproachful tone.

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
The creature, twice the size of even the largest humans, still staggers under Caitlin's assault, head snapping to one side as the knee impacts its jaw. And yet it does not go flying by any means, this thing is just getting started. Turning baleful reptilian eyes upon Caitlin again, the creature swings a massive fist in her direction, though in a display of cunning belying a mere beast simultaneously swings its powerful tail at her from a blind angle. The Hammer Girl didn't even connect after all.

Thor definitely talks to them. M'gann thinks to herself. Aren't you supposed to talk first? What if its a reasonable monster like that fire giant was. Not like those bank robbers though, that ended in a rap battle. Maybe talking is not the best idea after all. That strange cat person isn't here this time though. Many thoughts race through M'gann's mind in space of a second.

The creature definitely seems violent though and so Thor Girl summons her hammer back to her hand. Home Depot hammers should not fly through the air on their own, but this one does in seemingly the same way Thor has been witnessed calling Mjollnir back to himself countless times! "Yes, the hour for battle is-eth at hand!"

Hammer in hand, the flying 'Asgardian' girl, (at the very least it's a very convincing gender swap Thor cosplay), dives towards the Draconic humanoid as it is occupied landing a resounding blow to the creature's shoulder area. No Home Depot hammer should have been able to withstand the force of that impact, but somehow it does! "Taketh that wrathful beast! Returneth to whence thine game!"

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
The tail takes Caitlin in the ribs and knocks her ten feet laterally. Big as the monster is, there's a point where super strength matters less than mass and momentum. Caitlin staggers but stays to her feet and tries to get her wits to her. She watches as the Non-Asgardian girl hurls that hammer at the monster and shakes her head mutely in wonderment.

Caitlin rushes forward again, this time with a measured two-step and working the angles to keep that tail from checking her again. This time her approach is all boxing, and she starts throwing tight, low hooks and uppercuts with enough force to put heel dents in the turf and shatter reinforced concrete with each blow.

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
The scales may be like metal, but Cait's blows are strong enough to dent most metal if not punch through it and what begins showing as dents left by the blows is likely causing unseen internal tissue trauma as well as Caitlin lays into the monster's lower torso while it is distracted by Thor Girl's strike at its shoulders.

Another blow from that hammer bounces off the creature's skull as a clawed hand swats at Thor Girl before the beast's mouth opens and it does a very classically draconic thing that a Martian girl might not think of, it breathes out a gout a flame. There is a very un-Thor-like scream as the armored girl shoots backward through the air, more away from the fire than the monster. As she sits there breathing heavily though it does give her the chance to notice something. "There is-eth, some kindeth of glowing light in yonder hole. Perhaps try-eth to push it back in!" She calls back down to Caitlin in her butchered fake Asgardian speak.

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
Caitlin's reflexes kick in and she grabs the dragon's snout, fearless of the flames, and holds it firmly shut. And then for good measure, she punches it right in the soft part of its throat as hard as she can.

"Yep, I see it!" Caitlin acknowledges. She bulls forward, picking up the monstrous creature with little more than a grunt of effort and rushing towards the dimensional portal.

"Please stay open, please stay open, please stay open-!"

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
Stay open the portal does. Possibly concerningly so. Calling it a portal is a bit of a stretch, really tear is more accurate a residual rip in the weave that the creature forced its way through, of course that can pose its own problems.

"Yes! A little further! Thou art almost there!" The 'Asgardian' girl still floating above cheers Caitlin on as she bodily grabs and picks up the large dragon person and hauls them towards the waiting tear. While at the same time she looks around, searching for something, anything to maybe stopper the hole with. Sealing dimensional tears isn't really in her wheelhouse or at the very least she's never been taught how or tried to. A big rock can solve that right? Spying a rather large artistically arranged rock formation, 'Thor Girl' procures one of the larger slabs preparing to place it over the tear once the creature is through. If one stops and thinks about it, that's a laughably short term solution at best, but it's all she's got at the moment.

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
Caitlin rushes the dragon towards the rift and fifteen feet away she pushes it ahead of her and leaps into the air to give it a flying double-footed drop kick. The extra momentum and power sends the beastie careening back to whence it came, and Caitlin lands flat on her ass on the torn-up turf. She skids to a stop with her fingertips plowing furrows in the grass and uses that grip to launch herself the other direction.

"Do it!" she shouts at M'gann, before she's entirely clear!

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
There is a cracking sound when Caitlin's double drop kick impacts with the huge dragon-man creature's scales, some of them falling away from the impact. That is definitely going to leave a mark. The draconic entity careens forward toppling through the tear in reality and vanishing back towards whatever lies beyond.

It's a touch peculiar though, something cushions Caitlin's fall so she doesn't impact the ground as hard as she should have and as 'Thor Girl' swoops in with a giant boulder to at least temporarily try and plug the whole, when it looks like Caitlin isn't going to make it clear in time, an unseen force pulls her backwards and clear of the impact zone.

*THUD* The huge rock slams into place in the mother of all jury rigged solutions to a dimensional tear before 'Thor Girl' lands next to where Caitlin has come to rest and offers her a hand up. "Dost thou knoweth anyone who canst sealeth something like this? I dost not thinketh yon rock will holdeth for long."

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
Caitlin gives the hand a look, but accepts the help and lets M'gann haul her to her feet. The redhead is clearly a little surprised at how easy it is for the ...Asgardian girl, and she re-settles her weight once disaster is well out of the way.

"Yeah, I -- I can call someone, but please, the thou'ing," Caitlin says, and winces. "It's really confusing me. Let's just... keep it informal, for now?" she pleads. She looks down at her clothing and sighs; her shirt's ruined, ripped in half, and the jeans separated at the thigh. Caitlin grabs the shredded clothing and tears it off like it's tissue paper. Beneath she's wearing a sports bra and shorts in some much more durable, close-fitting fabric in green and purple. With just a few motions she converts it into a more modest athletic top, covering her ribs, and the shorts adjust to cover more of her upper legs.

Caitlin pokes her ear, eyes going vaguely out of focus. "Fairchild, priority to SHIELD," she requests. A beat. "Hello? Hi? Yes, this is Caitlin Fairchild. I'm in New York, at-- yes, Central Park." She holds a finger up to M'gann and walks two steps away, resting her hands on her hips. "Can you send a containment team? There's a rift or tear here that's acting up. ...great. Yes. OK, great. Thank you!"

She touches her ear to disconnect the call and walks back to M'gann. "Backup's on the way. Now, my next question: who are YOU?"

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
'Thor Girl' for her part is seemingly unscathed. It would seem that somehow her clothing and armor shares the same durability as her body. The truth of course is that it /is/ part of her merely shapeshifted to look that way as Martians are want to do.

"Art thou okay?" She begins to ask before Caitlin makes her request to stop the 'Asgardian Speak'. Why do people keep asking her that? She was /so sure/ she was nailing it. "Are you okay?" She asks slowly.

When Caitlin steps away to talk to SHIELD, 'Thor Girl' takes a moment to dust herself off, before summoning her (sledge)hammer back to her hand, placing her hands on her hips, and proudly declaring. "I am Thor Girl!" In response to Caitlin's query.

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
"Thor... Girl." Caitlin's brows lift, then flatten. "Uh... okay. Look, I know you're--" she glances around, steps a low closer to M'gann with a lowered voice. "I know you're juts trying to step up and help, and I'm grateful. I'm Caitlin Fairchild," she says, and puts a palm to her chest with a universal gesture of 'self'. "You did really good out there. This is a dangerous thing to tangle with," Caitlin says, gesturing at the rock-trapped rift. "Be careful before charging in, okay? I don't want you to get hurt." She hedges a little, uncertain if she wants to call Thor Girl out or let it ride a little longer

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
"Thor Girl!" She repeats with enthusiasm, when Caitlin seems incredulous. "Is this not the tradition of this realm for young women inspired by a great hero, like Bat Man and Bat Girl, Wonder Woman and Wonder Girl, Super Man and Super Girl, Power Man and Power Girl?"

"Worry not for my safety fair Fair.." Even she can't bring herself to finish 'fair Fairchild' "Caitlin. Like Thor, I do not injure easily and I will always gallantly help those in need!" 'Thor Girl' grins. "He's so cool!"

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
"Well, it's just that, Thor is a person, like, that's his actual name," Caitlin hesitates. She winces, trying not to deflate 'Thor Girl's ego. The redhead was once young and eager herself! "But it's fine," she amends, hastily. "Probably fine. I mean, you're new, right?" she inquires. "I've never heard of you before and I think I keep pretty good track of the new faces."

Caitlin looks around, gestures at the ameras coming out. "But hey, you made a great splash. Dragon's gone, rift, uh... sealed, and no casualties. That's a total win in my book," she promises Thor Girl. "Where'd you get the hammer, though? It's, uh, a little utilitarian, isn't it?"

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
"But that's fine." Thor Girl replies cheerfully. "I'm not Thor, I'm Thor Girl. I'm not stealing his name, just borrowing part of it. I just started doing this recently." She adds. Though by 'this' she actually means being Thor Girl.

"Yeah! We really showed that dragon man thing." Thor Girl emphatically agrees. "Oh my hammer?" She holds it up a bit sheepishly. "Good hammers are hard to find... this one was on sale at Home Depot." It's a rather odd detail, her costume and armor are picture perfect down to the smallest detail and yet her hammer came from a hardware store.

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
"May I?" Caitlin asks, holding a hand out for it. Caitlin examines the weapon like it's made of plastic, tossing it up in the air and catching it once quite neatly. She twirls it in her fingers under the center of gravity and hands it back to Thor Girl again.

"You're pretty strong; you might look at something with a steel haft," Caitlin suggests. "Fibreglass is pretty elastic but if you keep throwing this around it'll break sooner or later. Then it's just a really lousy football." She flashes a smile meant to be reassuring. "But that's a problem for down the road."

"What you oughta do is go down to the Asgardian Embassy," Caitlin suggests. "You can make an appointment to see Thor. I'll even text him so he knows you're not just one of the randos who shows up to cause trouble."

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
Thor Girl offers over the hammer when Caitlin asks for it and watches her swing it about. Really by all rights the hammer should have been destroyed any number of times during that fight, whatever held it together remains a mystery.

"You're pretty strong, too!" She returns Caitlin's compliment. "Do they sell ones with steel hafts?" She asks curiously. M'gann doesn't remember seeing anything like that in Home Depot.

"Oh right, the Embassy, yeah I should probably go there. I bet they have all kinds of hammers there."

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
"You might need to get it custom made," Caitlin apologizes. "By, like, a blacksmith or something. Someone who knows how to make one. I think they used to call them 'mauls'," she adds.

Caitlin hesitates, looking Thor Girl over. "Listen are you sure you're gonna be OK?" she asks, fretting a little. "I know you don't know me from a stranger but I have been dealing with... this stuff," she gestures vaguely, "for a long time. I hate to see you end up picking a fight with something meaner than you are-- though you do have a very Thor-like hammer toss," she says, and flashes an encouraging grin.

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
"A blacksmith, okay." Custom made, maybe they'll know about that at the embassy M'gann thinks to herself.

Thor Girl smiles at Caitlin as she begins to rise off the ground again. "I'll be fine. I appreciate your concern. I can see you have a good heart. I'm going to go find that Embassy, maybe I'll see you around!" She flashes a grin before zipping off through the sky. Unlike Thor, however, she doesn't seem to need the hammer for that.
