Date of Scene: 27 April 2020
Location: Central Plaza - Happy Harbor High School
Synopsis: A visitor to the school brings along a visitor of his own when threatened by the school bully.
Cast of Characters: Morrigan MacIntyre, Sam Wilson, Andi Benton, Samuel Morgan, Vivian Vision, Roy Harper

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
It's early evening and school has been out for a few hours. The Central Plaza still has a few stragglers from the day and teens traveling to and from their dorms for the evening of course. Morrigan had been grading in the Central Plaza and was enjoying some time out of her office for the time being given she'd been helping with the school tour. There was a text sent to Sam to see if he had left the campus yet.

There's a few people that have been touring the school in hopes of attending next year still mingling around still, but the official tour was over. One of the potential candidates had been younger than most, but was RIDICULOUSLY excited for being there and for taking the tour of the school. The tween had stopped and peered in windows, waved at people and then disappeared when the person that was escorting them had told them to come along.

Sam Wilson has posed:
Sam hadn't left yet, instead, he texted back that he'd be down soon. He had a meeting with a couple of prospects and wanted to make sure that they had all the information that they needed. Coming down to the quadrangle, he was finishin his conversation, before handing over an admission packet. "Best of luck to you and I look forward to giving it my ... seal of approval."

It's groan worthy, but he'd been using it all day, just to break the ice a little more than usual. As the student departs, packet in hand, Sam raises his hand to Morrigan in greetings before he moves to join her. "Never over til the paperwork's done." he offers to her. "Where would you like to do dinner tonight? Or we can whip up something at your place, if you want?"

Andi Benton has posed:
Only just now is Andi beginning to leave the main building. Must've had detention for something, because she has not joined any groups or clubs that would warrant any after-school activities such as band practice, recycling, doing science, or anything of that nature. She could be part of the burnout crew, just by nature of how she dresses and often acts, but she doesn't do any drugs and she actually attends class enough to get passing grades.

Most of the faculty have seen in her someone who could do more if she would only try harder.

A backpack with a few patches stitched into it is slung over a shoulder as she trudges out. Time to go home, or eat and go home. She checks a pocket to see how much cash she's got on her.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
As to Sams, the other one is also still around. Yes, the school day has officially ended, but usually the student that conforms to no known schedule is known to hang around and do his own thing in the computer lab once it's free of those pesky nuisances called students. Except today.

Today he'd been hanging around the football field instead, running laps, dodging cones and joining in with the unofficial training going on for the football team that the school is sure to field at some point. After all, what else is the point of a cheerleading squad, if there is no team to cheer?

Now he's starting to emerge from the gym, after hitting the showers, sharing a few odd words with the other hopefuls and giving a curious glance at the number of people still around. Huh. Did he miss a notice on the board somewhere?

Vivian Vision has posed:
With no real need to rush off for food, drinks, homework or sleep Vivian sometimes hangs out in the Central Plaza people watching. Her holographic field masking her unusual skin colour and making the green of her hair seem like the result of dye rather than her natural, if you could call it natural, colour.

Although it's not strictly speaking a uniform day she's wearing hers as she perches on one of the walls. It's easier than explaining to people that she only owns a few copies of the exact same outfit.

Even while she sits seemingly doing nothing a portion of her mind is active virtually. Reading books, playing chess and just generally skimming current events and news stories.

Roy Harper has posed:
Roy Harper comes out of the library, having lost track of time and heads across the central plaza toward the dorms, a backpack slung over one shoulder. He strolls along at a leisurely pace, not in any particular hurry for the time being, idly whistling to himself as he goes. He gives a little up-nod to Vivian as he sees her, pulling his earbuds from his ears, the music turned down as he passes with a wink, even though he's not at all in the library, and the fact that she can hear it doesn't really matter out here. It's just a little note that he remembers. "Hey, Viv," he says as he passes nearby.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Seal of approval. Morrigan thankfully wasn't in ear shot of Sam's Seal of Approval. It should be a t-shirt really. She gives a smile to him when he heads over, rising as he does. "I was thinking I could cook something. You allergic to anything that I should know about?" she asks him with a soft chuckle.

Then she spots the others and there's a wave as well as a smile to the kids that are still around.

There is the sound of raised voices though, not adults it would seem, but, the younger kid that was on tour has managed to run into one of the current students, spilling the drink that he had and it has perturbed them. The kid ends up skittering back, all wide brown eyes and dark hair. He looks like he's terrified.

Sam Wilson has posed:
"Nope, no allergies." Sam reports to Morrigan, giving her side a brief squeeze. "Want me to pick up anything before I come over? I can grab a dessert or the like." he starts to offer to her, when the sound of voices raised in complaint start to reach his ears. Pulling away from Morrigan, he frowns a little, but decides to start to amble that way to check things out.

While he's moving with a purpose, there's plenty of students that will reach the situation before he does.

Andi Benton has posed:
Someone in a bit of conflict? Not Andi's business, not for her to get in the middle of. She's never been the sort to break up a fight, but occasionally she might encourage one through sarcasm or something of that nature, just for amusement.

This time it doesn't seem to be needed, but she's got eyes and ears toward the source of the commotion. There was no wave returned to Morrigan, either, nor anyone else for that matter.

Besides, once she recognizes who had his drink spilled, she smirks to herself. "Serves him right, the asshole," she mutters under her breath. Oh yes, he has a bad reputation.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
Two things happen in rapid succession... Sam (henceforth known as Bean) notices Morrigan wave at him and returns the greeting with a smile. He's been remarkably happier in the last few days, and it even reflects in the even brighter disposition of Bear whose tail wags so much now that he might soon be in danger of spraining it. Soon thereafter, he can hear the commotion starting and turns to look in the direction of the raised voices. It's telling that the next thing he does is to glance around, in case the spillage was a distraction for something more sinister.

Bear absolutely seems to want to do something about this, and looks up at his human with pleading eyes. There's a sigh, but an indulgent sigh, and Bean nods. "Alright then, but no heroics, y'hear? We're not supposed to do that kind of thing here."

Vivian Vision has posed:
Viv can indeed hear the music, along with pretty much everything else happening in the local vacinity, although it is indeed not the library. "Good evening Roy," she says with a nod of her head. "I hope you're doing well?"

The sounds of commotion cause the stealthy synthezoid to turn her head and zooming her vision in a little to focus on the source. Although there's little need for her to do anything at this point in time. Rudeness or accidents aren't exactly a cause for concern.

Roy Harper has posed:
"Well enough," Roy grins at Vivian, "How are you doing? How's your reading going?" He then glances over at the sound of the commotion in time to see the spilling of the drink and the kid's reaction. For the moment, he doesn't go anywhere, but he is watching the situation as it develops. His hands slide into his pockets and he rocks a little on his heels, but there are already others moving to intervene. "Reminds me I should go pick up drinks. My mini fridge is getting low." Because that's his takeaway thus far.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
The older kid, Janson, is not the best behaved in the school. He has a tendency for being a bully to the younger kids and well, it doesn't exactly rocket science to figure out he's got a new target acquired as soda streams down his shirt. "Watch where you are going, twerp!" he shouts at the kid as he approaches.

The smaller kid backs up until he hits a wall, his hands coming up in front of him and they shake a little with fear. But there's also something else that happens when he does that and most that are attuned to the non-natural things might feel the shift in the air.

Not to mention the shriek of a bird of some kind.

Morrigan gives a smile to Sam, "Surprise me." she tells him in a soft tone. Then there's a kid shouting and one back peddling and her mother hen senses tingle. Until she hears that shriek. She looks over her shoulder towards the library and there's a moment where she blinks, "Is...is that a velociraptor?" she asks. Another look, "Holy shit." she starts shooing anyone near towards the exit door.

THIS IS FINE!

Sam Wilson has posed:
Sam grins at Morrigan. "Only if you're planning to surprise me." he teases her right back, when the shriek comes and one cannot be faulted for thinking it was a bird. Even Sam thought it was a bird at first. But that's not what he sees. He sees the Velociraptor as well. His voice is calm as he speaks up. "All students, please start to find your way indoors, until we can figure out what's happening."

He just /knows/ some kids aren't going to listen, but Sam's making sure that those stdents that aren't able to protect and defend themselves are herded into safety until the threat has passed. Mentally, however, he is seeing if he can reach out. Because velociraptors are just ancesteral chickens, after all.

Andi Benton has posed:
"What. The. Fuck."

Oh, there'd been news about this, but it's the first time Andi's directly /seen/ it in person, somehow. Dinosaurs or gorillas, it doesn't matter - there's some weird shit going on, and it seems to be everywhere. "Yeah, I'm getting outta here," she says aloud, ducking low behind some shrubbery and benches, seeking to make her way along as undetected as possible. Just in case, a hand closes around a container of pepper spray. That works on everything, right?

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"Man, what is this, last century?" Bean smiles as he approaches. Twerp? Really? People still say that? "Give the kid a break, he saved you from yet another sugar overdose. He's doing you a favor, Janitor." Sam. Hates. Bullies. He doesn't have quite the reputation that Xio has, but... there's something oddly creepy about the kid that just shows up whenever he wants and never seems to get in trouble. Rumor has it his dog can rip you in half, although most sensible students would really wonder if it's not more likely to lick you to death instead.

But then there was that incident with the Agent at the burger place... And that, at least, was seen by half a dozen students which means that by now everyone has heard some version of it. Not to mention he's actually built like a quarterback. One that smiles all the time.

"How 'bout..." but the world will never hear the wisdom, the undoubtedly pithy wisdom, Bean was about to impart. Suddenly, raptor. He glances down at Bear, raising an eyebrow, making a gesture that translates quite succinctly to 'this is twice now'. A complicated whistle follows, and Bear starts to nudge people towards the exit, as efficient as a sheep dog.

And Sam the Bean? He's done this before, he's staying. "Excuse me, Mister Wilson, I've dealt with these before. Would you mind if I assisted?"

Vivian Vision has posed:
A dinosaur was not exactly what Vivian was expecting to come charging out, but the news has included stories about them. So it's not entirely shocking when she has to direct an instance to begin looking up all current research into dinosaur biology and the transmutation phenomenon.

"How odd. You may wish to run Roy," she says with a tone so calm it's unnerving. "Although the top speed of such a creature is probably far in excess of what a high school student can achieve..."

Even though there was a call to flee she doesn't make any move to leave. Or even get up from her perch on the wall for that matter.

Roy Harper has posed:
The sound of the dinosaur shriek coming from over by the library is even more distracting than the bully situation. Roy looks over that way and both eyes widen a little bit in surprise, "Oh, no shit. Is that.. a person dinosaur? Or a dinosaur dinosaur?" Because there's been rumors about peoplesaurs running around and peoplerillas, but he hasn't actually seen any, either.

His attention flickers over toward Sam and Bear when he says he's dealt with it before, brows going up. This ought to be interesting, his expression very clearly says even if he doesn't say anything at all.

"Thanks for the warning," Roy grins a little lopsidedly over toward Vivian. "I'll keep that in mind." But he isn't fleeing, at least not at the moment.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Raptor's usually go after most things that are in their path, but, this one seems intent on getting to Janson. It hops over a few tables like an olympic athlete and there's a huffing that comes along with it.

"It's Janson dickweed. Is that better?" Janson looks to Bean when he makes his thoughts known. Then he gets an eyeful of the raptor heading his way and the kid turns about ten shades of white and backs up until he's hitting the wall behind him. "Oh god, don't eat me!" he cries out.

Was this real? Was lunch poisoned?

Morrigan decides that she's going to be a hero, but she's not quick enough and when she steps out to try to block the big murder bird she gets a solid swipe from it's tail and she goes tumbling over a bench as the breath is knocked from her lungs.

Sam Wilson has posed:
"It's not Mister Janson I want you focused on." Sam responds, as he frowns and looks aside to Samual. "Mister Morgan, that is an emotional support dog, is it not?" he asks of Bean. He gives a curt nod of his head towards the scared boy. "Maybe you should introduce him?" It's a light, but poignant suggestion to Samuel. He can feel that the raptor is protecting someone. But he has a good feeling as to what it is now.

"Miss Vivian, could you make sure that any other students are taken care of?" he asks of the young woman. "Make sure that they know where to get to?" Steadying himself, Sam looks around, trying to get eyes on anyone else that might be left. And can talk to the younger boy.

Andi Benton has posed:
Whatever the reason the raptor is here, it is not something Andi's got any capability of dealing with. For the time being, until she sees a better way out while avoiding further detection, the safe play seems to be hiding behind something. If what just happened to Morrigan is any sign, getting close would be a bad idea. Why did she even try to run in like that in the first place? That might be worth asking later on, if there is a later on. "Stupid school," she mutters, gripping the pepper spray with more certainty. This stuff never happened in Philly.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
Odd. Last time Bean saw raptors, they went straight for Bear, seeing how they can't seem to resist an easy snack. This one? Not so much. He glances at Janson, a withering glance to be sure "Run. Away. Idiot." and then nods to Sam. "Yeah, I think we've got the same idea. Watch my flank."

Another whistle sees Bear follow his human as Bean begins to jog towards the scared little kid. Never mind the cold-blooded killer predator kids, just mind the Velociraptor. When he gets to the little guy, Sam puffs and makes a pantomime of sitting against the wall next to the scared kid, pretending to be out of breath. "Too many burgers. Should've eaten my veggies more. Hi, I'm Sam, and this..." 'Whurf' "... this is Bear. What's your name? Bear, say hello."

The shepherd, all lolling tongue and wagging tail, sits in front of the scared kid, offering a paw for a shake. There might as well not be a dinosaur running around. But for all the levity, the false levity, Sam keeps stealing glances at the Velociraptor. If it comes close... well, he has something to give it a fond hello.

Vivian Vision has posed:
Vivian doesn't outwardly seem to do anything in response to Sams request. Of couse appearences can be very deceiving as every student in need gets wrapped in a holographic bubble that accurately represents reality with one tiny difference. A reassuringly calm Vivian is there to direct them away from the danger of the dinosaur. Her range isn't unlimited but it's more than enough to cover the entire Central Plaza.

The girl herself gives Sam a nod and stands up. "Consider it done." She could in theory stop the rampaging raptor dead with an energy blast, but given it is very likely another student and she doesn't know where all the vital organs are... Well a dead stop could be rather more dead than she would like.

She takes a few more steps so she can take a better look in the direction the dino came from. After all it wouldn't do to have more dinosaurs turning up or to forget an out of sight injured student.

Roy Harper has posed:
For the time being, Roy remains over by Vivian, observing to make sure that the kids who are heading out get where they're going. If anyone seems to be lagging particularly behind, he goes over to accompany them away, putting himself between them and the dino. Yes, he heard Vivian very clearly and is aware of the potential for perforation. Still, seems like the thing to do. And so he finds one of the stragglers and helpfully follows along a bit behind, a glance over his shoulder toward Sam and Bear as they try to calm the kid.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
"I was wanting to fit into a smaller dress size by the fall anyways by having my ribs crushed." Morrigan wheezes out as she rolls onto her back and she presses her hand to her side. That's definitely going to be bruised in the morning.

The Raptor stutters a little in it's walking as Bear and Bean approach the smaller kid. Sam being there is helping as well. Everyone is helping really. "Tyler, that's my name." he tells them. And he's calming down it would seem. His heart beat lowering, the fear starting to bleed out. Which is great for all involved!

"Hey Bear!" Tyler reaches down to shake the paw that is offered.

Meanwhile, Janson lets out a high pitched shriek of his own as the raptor draws closer.

But just as it was passing a door it seems to burst into thousands of book pages, filled with words and tumbling to the ground where they fade away into nothingness. There's no more Raptor.

The Librarian comes running out in a panic though, "DID ANYONE ELSE SEE THAT DINOSAUR?!"

Sam Wilson has posed:
"You got this, Mister Morgan?" Sam asks Samuel quickly. He seems to, so he gives the young man a quick clasp to the shoulder. But he's heading over to where Morrigan is and he's quickly moving to be down next to her. His lips press into a thin line, but he tries to make a little light of the situation.

"You know, sweetheart, I did three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and a few other missions." He says as he starts to check on her side, he knows she can heal herself, but he has to check on her. "I'm starting to think that dating you is dangerous." His tone is lightly teasing.

Andi Benton has posed:
Whether it's in part because of the Vivigram or not, Andi gets herself around to a safer position that puts a few more obstacles between her and the raptor, only to stare in a more wide-eyed manner as the thing just..turns to paper?

No, she's not going to stick around to try to figure this out, because it won't make any sense. Dinosaurs shouldn't exist in the first place, but even if they do, they shouldn't just change into the contents of a book, raining down to the ground only to disappear. "Right, I'm getting the hell out of here," she says to nobody in particular. Time to look out for herself first.

Dad's also not getting this story. She wouldn't believe it if she didn't see it herself, meaning he's even less likely to think it isn't just the result of an active imagination. She's on the move, headed off campus.

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"Pleasure to meet you Tyler. And welcome to Happy Harbor. I'm guessing you're going to be joining us next year?" Calm and friendly Bean is that happy, seemingly carefree version of himself that he sometimes shows. Bear shakes the offered hand and then rears up on his hind legs, so he can put his front paws on Tyler's shoulders and lick his cheek. It's an attempt to get the boy to sit down and process whatever may have caused him to be spooked. "Man, Bear really likes you."

"All good here, Mister Wilson." Bean confirms to Sam with a smile and a quick thumbs up, although his eyes are a bit more serious, giving the man a look that seems to imply that that was closer than he liked it. A moment later, he's back to being the school's ambassador, and that's not the first time either.

"Hang on, Tyler... if you're coming here, I'm guessing you're pretty smart. Tell me... chemistry or electromechanics?" A wince as he looks to Miss Marian. Yeah... he's going to have to explain that next time he's in the library...

Vivian Vision has posed:
Vivian Vision keeps walking over in the direction of the trouble. Her head tilting downwards slightly so she can zoom in and skim read all the scattered papers. Checking for weird residue, mystical markings or anything odd. "So this was not a form shifted student?"

She frowns.

"This means it was likely the result of some sort of metahuman or otherwise attack.." Her head turns to Tyler. "Given it directly went towards Janson the logical culprit would be the subject of his bullying." There's nothing accusatory in her tone, just a calm matter of fact assessment of the situation.

The holographic Vivians will somehow slip away when they have got their respective students safely away. Stepping off to one side and then just ducking round a corner.

Roy Harper has posed:
Once the kid that he was following is out of the way, Roy turns back in time to watch the raptor going for Janson suddenly explode into a bunch of paper that goes fluttering everywhere. Both brows go up in surprise, "Okay, not what I was expecting, there." But also less alarming than what he might have been expecting. "Janson, man, call it a night and fuck off, eh? It was an accident. And you almost got bitten by the world's largest papercut storm." He gives a nod of his head in the direction of the dorms as he moves over toward the bully.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan looks up when she sees Sam and there's a bit of a chuckle as she tries to get herself up, reaching out to grip his arm as she does. His words though make her look to him and then she laughs, "We're going to see if that's true or not." she tells him. Then she's finally back on her feet. "Well...there's no mess to clean up thankfully." she states.

"Fucking off right now." Janson states as he slides down the wall, fainting wasn't becoming of the bully. It really wasn't. Miss Marian is looking utterly confused and Tyler looks like he made a new friend, "Oh chemistry. Definitely." he tells Bean.

"A lot to unpack right now. Let's get Janson to the nurses station, Marian, someone was just pulling a prank with one of those dinosaur suits to get back at someone. Everything is alright." Morrigan states.

Oh look, there is Tyler's sponsor heading back in, "There you are! We were worried!" the woman seems so relieved to have found the kid.

Sam Wilson has posed:
"Oh, I think there's a mess." Sam responds, gripping Morrigan's arm to help her up. "Especially when you get my recommendation that we have an expulsion meeting for someone that apparently doesn't get what happens when you bully around the wrong person." See, Morrigan, he can bring his guns around to bear when he needs to.

"But we can discuss that in the morning, I think."

Samuel Morgan has posed:
"Awesome, I love chemistry. Especially the exploding kind." Sam winks over to Tyler, gives Vivian a bright smile that seems to imply that /now is not the right time for this/, and then drops his voice to a conspiratorial whisper. "Silver fulminate. Bright flash, bit of smoke, scares the crap out of people. Especially kids like Janitor over there, makes them p... soil their pants. Teaches them not to mess with a chemist."

It's not the most wholesome advice, but hey... you teach what you know. Bear sits possessively next to his two humans, leaning against Tyler's side. At least, until the sponsor returns.

"Sorry, I kept him talking, ma'am. I'll let you get on with things." And so he stands, dusting off his knees, using the gesture to aim one last wink at Tyler. "Looking forward to seeing you around, Tyler. And so is Bear, I'm sure."

    'Whurf!'

Vivian Vision has posed:
"And perhaps take a long hard look at your behavior," Vivian calls out to Janson as he's being lead off to the Nurses Station. He may mysteriously find his email accounts have been signed up to get just about every English language anti-bullying pamphlet that exists. "Not that anyone will be upset if you continue and get expelled..."

She shrugs.

"As it seems everything is now under control I will return to my studies. Good evening everyone." She gives a few polite nods and then turns towards the dorm rooms and calmly sets off walking away as if a dinosaur attack at school is no more unusual than the school mascot walking by.

Roy Harper has posed:
With everything seemingly under control and Jason heading off, unlikely to bother Tyler again, and Sam returning Tyler to his escort, Roy shoves his hands in his pockets and turns on his heels to head back toward the dorms in the direction he'd been going when all of this started. "Well," he grins, "That was.. eventful." And so he follows Vivian back in the direction of the dorms, shaking his head and muttering something about "tranq darts" under his breath.
